My solution for No Audio -- Conexant drivers and Windows 7 x64

My son and I have the L2000 laptop that came with 32 bit XP and used the Conexant chipset for Audio. I had been using an SB Audigy PCMCIA card so I am not sure when Audio was really lost; however, he noticed it when I upgraded his PC. I scoured various forums looking for 64 bit  Windows 7 drivers for Conexant audio but to no avail. Microsoft and Conexant both said that HP should supply the drivers. By the way HP, the Conexant website says that they do not supply drivers even though they make the chipsets "at the request of the OEM's." Another post said that HP was not going to supply these drivers for Windows 7. The solution from HP for my model and Windows 7 was the "HP Software Advisor" which was 67MB and totaly useless. It appears that this is a very common problem. Anyway, here is what you do:
First you need 2 files which ironically enough come from HP, they are SP35558.exe and SP35558.cva They contain the Conexant drivers for Vista x64. (I subsequently have found the 32 bit drivers and the procedure should be very similar except the files are SP34789.exe and SP34789.cva). Type the following into your browser address bar ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/ About half way down you will find the sub-directory with these files. Just right click each one and save to your desktop.
Double click SP35558.cva and tell Windows to use Notepad to open it. Scroll about half way down to "[Operating Systems]" and after "WV64UL=OEM" insert:
W764HB=OEM
W764HP=OEM
W764PR=OEM
W764UL=OEM
( For 32 bit systems use W732HB=OEM, etc.)
I next went up about 10 lines to "[System information]" and added
SysId3=0x3091
SysName3=HP Pavilion ze2000 series
SysId4=0x3096
SysName4=Compaq presario M2000 series

SysId7=0x3093
SysName7=Compaq Presario M2000 series
SysId8=0x3093
SysName8=HP Special Edition L2000 series
I got this information from another cva file on my PC at C;/swsetup/ This is the directory where HP updates default to.
After modding the cva file, I saved it to C;/swsetup/sp35558/
I then executed the SP35558.exe file. It did not work the first time -- I missed a line in my cva file. However, I then manually installed the Conexant drivers as follows and voila I had sound, nice crisp clear sound.
Under Device Manager, right click "Multimedia Audio Device" under "Other" and choose "Update Driver" Then" Browse your PC" and "Choose from a list". Select "Sound, audio and game controllers", then Conexant, then "Have Disk" . Browse to C:/swsetup/sp35558/ and open "cp6308Ba.inf" (64bit remember). Now choose "OK" and ignore any warnings about incompatibility, WHQL, etc. Give it plenty of time, you might think you are in a loop, but you are not. Congratulations, you are done.
This question was solved.

I thought that I would recompile my answer and then mark this thread as solved since it was not a post about a problem but rather how I solved a very common problem that might be of benefit to others.

The use of the cva file is to streamline the driver install and it is kind of cool if it works. If you cannot find it or you are not successful the first time or you do not want to bother with modding anything, do not worry, the manual install will work for sure.
Run sp35558.exe to extract everything and let it strike out. Then go to Device Manager and update the driver manually as follows:
Under Device Manager, right click "Multimedia Audio Device" under "Other" and choose "Update Driver" Then "Browse your PC" and "Choose from a list". Select "Sound, audio and game controllers", then "Conexant", then "Have Disk".
Hope this helps.

    As I said, a weak or dead PRAM battery can reportedly cause odd startup issues. If it has never been changed in six years, that's a really long-lasting battery, even if the iMac was kept on continuously.
    They are pretty cheap from the right source, so you may want to try changing it.

  • Getting static audio with Titanium and Vista x64 at random times

    @Getting static audio with Titanium and Vista x64 at random times$ I have had this card for about 6-8 months and relati'vely no issues.
    I just upgraded to the latest drivers 270006 and now, sometimes after exiting Turbine's Lotro, my audio plays but is very static-y, but it doesn't happen all the time. I had iTunes minimized when playing Lotro and then went to play a song after exiting. I quit iTunes and tried it again and it was ok.
    This also happened in Firefox, a YouTube video had the same static audio.
    It doesn't happen all the time and I do play other games, but I haven't been playing much else right now.
    So right now I don't know if it's a Lotro thing or just the drivers.
    I have a Q9650, single GTX260, Asus P35 board (not SLI), Vista x64, 4GB.

    Carl, do let us know on the Safe Mode test... would be the first thing I'd try with what you've mentioned, but yeah, daisy chained Hubs could possibly play into it.

  • Solution for: no audio in time line - conforming issues - unspecified error occurred

    these are all the same issue and i have the solution for it.
    Adobe has once again let down the non professional user but ignoring this bug. They have also deleted alot of my other posts on the adobe forums.. perhaps so you cannot receive help from me?? who freakin knows..
    b Problem:
    you import your footage and there is no audio in the time line. you see the audio clip there but no information in it. some people say its because of MPEG format but MPEG files works fine in Windows Movie Maker, Ulead, Pinnacle, Sony Vegas.. etc...
    let it be known that its an Adobe Premiere issue.
    b Solution:
    b step 1:
    close adobe premiere
    b step 2:
    open My Computer and go to tools at the top. From the drop down menu go to folder options. In folder options click the view tab. In the advanced settings section where it says 'Hidden files and folders' make sure 'show hidden files and folders' is selected.
    b step 3:
    open My computer and go to c:\ drive > Documents and settings. Now click into your user name (NOT 'All users') in my case its 'proGamer'. Now click into 'Application Data' > 'Adobe' > 'common' > 'Media Cache Files'.
    b step 4:
    in this folder find the files you were just trying to import by searching the name. in my case its file: 20081217030338. you will now see 3 different file types with the same file name you were importing: CFA, PEK, MPGINDEX. delete them all!
    b step 5:
    go back and open adobe premiere, open up your project again and it will automatically recreate those files you just deleted. hopefully correctly.
    b NOTE:
    If this hasn't worked then open your adobe premiere project, clear all trace of the files with no audio and start again from step 1. then after step 5 just import the files back into your project.
    This has proved to work with every file i've imported that had the audio not conformed.
    b your second option:
    simply play your clip in WMV or VLC or what ever player you use and record the audio in real time in stereo by using some music editing like cubase or logic audio. you can also use something more friendly like 'recordpad' found here: http://www.nch.com.au/recordpad/screenshots.html now you can buy it from these guys or get it how ever else you like
    lemme know how u go

    dmd,
    I've read plenty of places that they know about the bug and are going to fix it. Will from Adobe said so in a few older posts. It's also listed as an issue in the 4.0.1 readme.
    I agree that this is the most screwed up Adobe release ever but I doubt they're deleting your posts to hide it. Never know though.....
    "Adobe has once again let down the non professional user but ignoring this bug" I actually wish Adobe would forget the consumers and make Premiere Pro more friendly to professionals. Dozens of multimillion dollar movies have been edited with Avid and Final Cut over the past few years. Adobe doesn't put forth any effort make Premiere a pro application. Because they pander to the consumers and prosumers they end up messing up the product for everybody.
    Premiere Elements is for consumers, Premiere Pro should be for the 'Pros'

  • HP HDX Laptop - Solution for no audio through HDMI

    Hi Guys,
    Just want to share, how i resolved the HDMI Audio issue. I have a HP HDX16t laptop with latest Vista 32bit nvidia drivers (GeForce 9600MGT - 186.03 June 9, 2009) and last week i tried to connect it with my new Philips 32" LCD TV.  I was disappointed to only see the video and couldn't hear audio through my TV.   I tried to change the default playback device as SPDIF, but no luck as the 'NVidia HDMI Output' was always showing as disconnected. Somewhere in the internet i read that HDMI sound was working fine untill they updated nvidia drivers!!  I tried to rollback my nvidia drivers and it restored the previous release 185.85 May'09 which didn't work.  So I searched nvidia website to find the archived drivers and found 179.29, Dec'08 release to work flawlessly.  Now everytime I connect the HDMI cable, Nvidia HDMI output is selected automatically and when i unplug it, built-in speakers and headphones are selected.
    http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_notebook_winvista_179.28_beta.html
    I need to check if I can have the latest video drivers in combination with the audio drivers from 179.29 release.
    Sorry for my bad english...just trying to save your time

    Hello
    The issue is because 185 and 186 version recognize HDMI connector like DVI conector ¿?., something is wrong with this actual versions.
    Nvidia just tell me the following: "The issue you are experiencing is not a general behavior of the graphics card or the graphics driver.I will forward this issue to the concerned department to analyze the issue and if we're able to reproduce this issue then, will definitely try coming up with a fix in the future driver."
    Go to complain about this issue to Nvidia Support in order to let them know that I´m not the only person on this world having this issueBy the way, their time response is less than 2 hours, go for it.To find this NVidia Support, just follow these instructions:
    Go to visit "Nvidia webpage" // go to "Support" // go to "Knowledgebase" // then find "Ask a Question". Login will be requested, you´ll need to fill a very short form.

    Hi
    Assuming you have set up Purchasing with accrual method on receipt (and not on period end), you could enter the PO lines with receipt required. The receipt transactions you are uploading will generate the accounting to charge the expense accounts / or inventory valuation account.
    There is no need to interface those also to Payables. In AP enter one invoice with the real monthly amount and match it to the purchase order level or to the receipts level. Approve and pay that invoice.

  • System management software for LV apps on cRIO and Windows

    Hello All,
    Were I work there is a LabVIEW based project that is a distributed system. This system has a main application that can run on Linux, Windows, or cRIO targets. The main application loads "plugins" depending on what platform it is on to do platform specific things. For example, one plugin uses a DLL interface to communicate with OPC servers. Another plugin measures voltages and currents on cards in the cRIO chassis.
    The system occasionally needs updates and the sites where it runs are remote. The current solution is to send a technician who installs a full upgrade. We want to move to a rolling upgrade that is automated.
    We can certainly roll our own solution, but before we do that we want to investigate existing solutions.
    I believe such systems are under the buzzwords System Management Software and WSUS the windows update solution is one of these.
    Is there a System Management Software package that would deploy to cRIOs and Windows machines? (We have the Linux one solved already, although we might redo it if there is something really slick out there.)
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    For cRIO's you might want to have a look at the Real-Time Target System Replication.

  • CS3 dds drivers and Windows 7 64bit issue

    I have photoshop CS3 working however I can't load the dds drivers. I've tried everything see below. Anyone been able to load the Nvidia dds drivers?
    What is the proper proceedure to effectively install the DDS files in CS3 in a windows 7 64 bit environment?
    I tried the 32 bit and 64 bit files and when I use the 32 bit file i get an error opening up photoshop that says missing D3x9_43.dll, and I don't have the option to save in a .dds format. If I uninstall the dds 32 bit program the missing D3x9_43.dll error goes away.
    When I load 64 bit version no errors but I still don't have the option to save in .dds format. Kind of frustrating..................
    I've just uninstalled and cleaned CS3. I've done a new fresh load of CS3. What are the correct steps from here?
    Which file should I download? etc.
    Thank you in advance.
    Ok, I've tried everything I can find.
    I let the 32 bit dds program load to a seperate folder and manually transfered the files to the proper folders in Photoshop and still get the same results as above. I tried renaming them and removing the 32 extensions and still no go. I did the same thing with the 64 bit program and still no go.
    The 32 bit program said it was still looking for the D3X9_43.dll file for some reason. I haven't tried downloading that file since I don't know where to put it.
    Can someone please help me. Has anyone got the DDS files to work with CS3 and Windows 7?
    Thank you
    Bill

    Got it fixed. I loaded the drivers from my old XP machine. drivers are from 2007. Don't remember where I got them from but they worked.  I can save dds files again.
    Thank you for the reply.

  • Nvidia 64bit drivers and Windows XP64Bit

    Lo ppl , im a newbie here.
    Here we go :
    Fresh install of Windows XP64 on my new Seagate Baracuda ,
    Pressed F6 durring installation for Sata/Raid drivers  - windows reported corrupt files.
    Windows then carried on installing fine, rebooted and system loaded fine.
    K - time for NVIDIA drivers (latest 64bit drivers from nvidia)
    Installed system drivers first including IDE drivers. - Reboot
    System loads till Windows XP64 screen, scrolly finishes, and then screen goes blank and h/drive light flashes but system does'nt finalize boot.
    Tried Roll back on all Nvidia drivers - no help
    2) - Reformat h/drive and whole proccess again. except instead of installing all Nvidia drivers, I just tried the Network drivers - same problem as b'fore
    Rollback also failed
    3) Reformat h/drive and whole proccess again. except instead of installing nvidia system files I installed nvidia display drivers for my Geforce. Same problem windows failed to post. And rollback also fails to repair problem.
    tried system recover and that also did'nt work
    I'm   as hell.
    Any help plz

    Sorted my problem out -  After reading 3hours of posts on this forum I came to the conclusion that keyboards and psu's are real NB on this mobo.
    My 300W psu could this be the problem I asked myself
    Well went out and got a 500W KME Gold unit not the best but not the worst
    Reformated my HD and did win64 reinstallation
    Installed new PSU unit
    Booted up win64 and installed NVIDIA 64Bit driver manually from Device Driver Menu
    Rebooted and wolla   all works fine.
    So I'm not 100% sure it was the PSU unit, I might temp a reformat again to verify if it was psu or way I installed drivers.
    Now next ?
    Why does'nt any of the utils on MSI setup cd run on win64 or are there 64bit versions available , or alternative progs that I can use on win64 ?

  • No Great Solution for Record Multi-Voice Tracks and Edit for Mac? :(

    Let me see if I've finally got this right.
    I've got FinalCut Studio Pro which comes with SoundTrack Pro.
    I've got Logic Express.
    SoundTrack Pro cannot record from different channels from my Mixer, but it can edit pretty well and apply effects, such as Normalization, Silences and whatnot.
    Logic can record from different channels from my mixer but has no editing capabilities, except Garage-band-like and even there, GB seems to offer more. That is there's no normalization or other things.
    Okay, I accept that. But what I don't get is that in order to do something as simple as Record a podcast that has a Host on mic and 1 or 2 Skype callers coming into a Mixer (Mackie Onyx) and that mixer is routed to the Mac. In order to record each person on a different track, I have to:
    Load Logic and record the tracks individually.
    Export the Tracks as individual audio files.
    Import them into SoundTrack Pro and edit them there.
    Export them from SoundTrack to disk.
    re-Import them into Logic (or Garage Band) and export them ("mixdown") as MP3 (SoundTrack won't export as MP3).
    Wow, that's very unexpected.
    If I'm missing something, please let me know. This seems like a lot of "make fit" just to emulate what can be done in Adobe Audition on the PC. (Sadly, Audition doesn't run on Mac.)

    I suppose my question is more along the lines of what solution (I've purchased them all) allows you to Record and Edit multiple spoken tracks of audio?
    I've purchased:
    SoundTrack Pro
    SoundBooth
    Logic Express
    Audacity
    and of course I've upgraded to iLife 09.
    If one of these tools could allow you to select a section of audio from 1, 2, 3, or all tracks and delete it with a "Ripple Delete" option, then I'd be a happy guy.
    Right now:
    GarageBand doesn't allow you to delete and shift-left "ripple delete".
    As for Logic, I don't see ripple delete either.
    SoundTrack does do this but it only allow me to edit one Track at a time--open them all, but edit one, then the other, then the other. Lots of flipping around.
    With Audition (which is limited to Windows) I can select a section of 1, 2, 3, or all tracks, and delete that section, ripple or not.
    FYI: "Ripple" is a Final Cut Pro term.
    To be honest, no that I think about it... FinalCut Pro may be the best solution. Load everythign into it as separate tracks and have at it--at least it does it.
    Remember, I'm not a musician, nor do I record music, only audio for podcasting. (but don't equate "podcasting" to Video-podcasting as most people do).
    Anyway, my solution will be to load Virtual Box on the Mac. Record using Logic (which did a great job of recording onto multiple tracks) and then bring those AIF files into Adobe Audition under Windows in VirtualBox--or perhaps on a Networked PC.
    Of course the other solution (and perhaps less painful) would be to simply abandon the Mac entirely and move all this stuff onto the PC and only use the Mac for FinalCut Pro work. What a huge disappointment that would be.
