Okay, I just looked through some of these topics and my issue sounds very similar.
Before, nothing would sync onto my ipod, and it wouldn't completely restore. I got really angry, so I figured, hey, maybe I just need to download the new itunes. Then...itunes decided to refuse to even open or start up. I tell it to fix and reinstall but it doesn't work. I really don't want to uninstall itunes because of everything I've purchased and haven't had a chance to backup yet. I'm very angry and don't have an idea of what to do. I've spent my own money on my ipod and everything I've bought and really don't want to lose it (I'm a broke seventeen year old...). So basically...if anyone can help, that'd be great. I tried to redownload the older version but because I have 7.5, it refused to let me. HELP?!!

I uninstalled itunes and downloaded the 7.5 version from filehippo.com. I was afraid that my library would be lost but everything is back and working fine so far.

  • All of a sudden no sound - please help

    Hi,
    I'm running Vista Ultimate 64-bit version with a X-Fi Titanium Fatalty Pro card and all of a sudden I noticed I don't have any sound coming from my speakers anymore and when I in iTune for example press the play button to play a song the play button changes to a pause button indicating the play button has been pressed but I don't get any sound and the time counter showing where in the song I am is not moving but just stays at 0 seconds into the song. When I press the pause button it returns to a play button again. I haven't changed anything in my system when it comes to drivers etc before this happened, it happened all by itself sort of speak. The only thing I could think of that might have caused this is if some automatic Microsoft updates for Vista 64-bit got installed affecting the Creative drivers for my sound card.
    If I go into Vista's?sound settings I see my X-Fi Titanium Fatalty Pro card in there and it is reported to be?working but if I click configure and then press the Test button which normally cycles a tone between my speakers (I have a 5. speaker system) same thing happens as in iTunes ie the play button goes into a stop button indicating?it has been pressed but no sound?is coming from any speaker and then when I press the Stop button it returns to a Test button again. I have also checked in Device Manager for any problems but no exclamation marks or anything else strange in there - everything looks normal.
    I have tried re-installing the drivers?but still same problem, I have also tried removing all the Creative drivers all together running in Safe Mode in Vista and then reinstall them once again but still no go. The only way for me to get sound from my X-Fi Titanium Fatalty Pro card right now is by unstalling the Creative drivers and instead use Windows Vista's built-in drivers identifying the sound card as a 'High definition audio device' and this way the sound is working just fine with sound coming from all speakers. Of course I could stay with using Vista's default driver since this is working but it would still be nice to be able to use the real Creative drivers for my card and I by not using them I guess I'm also missing lots of other functionality I get with using the real Creative software and drivers.
    Anyone else seen this or has a clue what might be wrong?here?

    Sounds similar but still not the same issue I guess because I have the problem regardless what application I'm using, I don't even get the internal Windows sounds when I have the Creative drivers installed.
    Feels strange not more people have the same problem if it's caused by a Microsoft update so maybe that's not the case after all...can't understand though what might have caused it if not that?since I haven't done anything to my computer's config lately and this problem with the sound happened from one day to the other...hmm...

  • Syncing Photos and My New iPad3 (A Horror Story)

    I really don't know where to begin. Bought a new ipad3 and since all my tunes are on my iPhone, let full the iPad up with photos. What should have been a simple process, as my title suggests has turned into a 5 day ordeal. My issue revolves around two things that make it very hard for me to believe that this product marketed as the new magical must have device, could be beset with such fundamental problems. True it can do a thousand other things flawlessly however like many of my peers here in this forum, I purchased mine specifically for photo storage and viewing and of course this is exactly where the iPad breaks down.
    What's even more frustrating is how ignorant Apple Staff (Who ever is answering the phone at their customer support number: 800-275-2273) is to these issues and that the customer has to hunt and search the Internet for solutions that make sense! It's just a shame! Trouble shooting with their experts was nothing more than a waste of time. As I have spent days researching these forums and discovering how many people have major issues with this product, I was simply blown away! The only thing I blame myself for is not reading these forums first. I doubt very seriously, let me stop playing, **** no, there is no way I would have ever brought this new iPad if I know of all these issues. . After paying almost $1,000.00 dollars for one (well iPad plus accessories) for it to have these substantial flaws is unacceptable.
    Ok here's Number One. Syncing photos is simply hit or miss. There is no rhyme or reason for why some sync are successful and why others crash. It seems that the best why to make each sync successful is to limit the number of pictures and folders to as few as your patience lets you. If a sync failed  if I reduced the number of pictures and folders it would complete successfully.
    What's the big deal you might say, when you have over 100K images that you want to sync to your iPad, its a problem a big one, a major one, so frustrating that you want to take a golf club to it just like Daniel Tosh did on his show TOSH.0. When I spoke with tech support all they seemed to focus on was the amount of photos and adjusting dimensions and resolutions, etc. I will not share here what a said on the phone, but I think most of you know. I am suppose to readjust the size, resolution, and dimensions of 100K plus images to get them on. Absolutely not! I found that answer unacceptable! I have noticed in my reading that some members of this forum have chosen to do that, God bless them.
    Some of the syncs fail right away others will only fail after waiting forever with you finger crossed, hoping to move a few more images to the iPad. Sometimes I have to power down/reboot the IPad, iTunes, etc for the next sync to be successful. How much time wasted trying to move my collection to this iPad. I am in the middle of a reboot now. So far after 5 days I have move 18,064 photos to the IPad. Wow you might say but let me tell you at great cost! During this process I completely rest.restored my IPad numerous times, not to mention how many times I rebooted my windows PC. Note worthy, one member of this forum actually wipe his PC's hard drive reinstalled his operating system and iTunes! I don't even want to consider what he might have done next!
    Again this is unacceptable that Apple would have a product with these issues and basically leave their customers at their mercy! Hoping that the next release of iTunes may/may not fix the problem. I waiting a while before I wrote this just to make sure that I am not speaking out of anger, merely stating the facts.
    Ok here's Number Two, Storage! The iTunes creates a folder called iPod photo cache that just get huge as you increase the number of photo's synced to the iPad. As of right now I have 17,815 photos on the iPad. ( It was suppose to be 18,064 but since the reboot all the numbers have changed. Ridiculous. Any way iTunes has put a monster folder of over 14GB on my ext drive where I store my pics. I personally feel that there should be some other way to sync them to the iPad without creating such a monster cache. The only solution I got from tech support was to reduce the size of each image in my collection. Again I will not share with you what I said on the phone, I will simply say that as a solution was again unacceptable! I personally would not even have the balls to say that to a customer.
    If that was the only storage issue I could live with. Drives always seem to get cheaper and bigger. That I do love. The real storage problem is this, syncing a large amount of photos creates other files along with the syncing images that take up huge amounts of space on the iPad as other files! This makes me just want to scream and cut off my finger tips, something. To me this is unbelievable. So let me sum this up like this. In addition to the . 13.7GB my pics take up on my IPad "other" now takes up a whopping 7.7GB. All I have on the IPad is Pics and a few applications. The 7.7GB of other is a result of the synced images and no one seems to be able to tell me want the ____ is up with this.
    That's 7.7GB of space that I need for may collection locked up as other files. Does the image need to be stored twice on the iPad? I have now idea. If anyone has an answer Please Help Me! No one at Apple seems to be able. I am open to anything that makes sense. I even place to crashed HD in te freezer over night, and yes it came back online recognized in windows once again.
    A third problem that I did even mention is speed! Ipad why you so slow! Why you take so long to sync photos!

    Ah, it is interesting that this post turned up in my searching to discover how much memory the "New iPad" would require. I can sympathize with the original poster on how photos are (or not) transferred. I learned this lesson from my original purchase of an iPhone 4 upgrade from an iPhone 3. As you may know, the iPhone 4 has a much higher resolution than the iPhone 3. Not thinking, but not being forwarned, I anticipated a growing photo library. I don't recall the exact sizes involved nor am I going to go back and recalculate the sizes, but the result was something like this. I had about 11,000 photos on my iPhone and this required xxGB of storage. The library was mainly photos synced from my iPhoto library on my iMac. When I upgraded, the resolution of the photos was rescaled to the higher resolution. This meant the new library would require about 2.5 times xxGB. End result, return new iPhone and upgrade to one with more memory.
    Okay, so if you are paying attention, the photos on my iPhone are reduced resolution images of those on my main computer. I hope you can see that if I were to purchase a New iPad, I need to know how much storage a photo takes on the New iPad. The poster has given some indication with 14GB for 17,000 photos. Because I have used an iPhone for a while, I was aware that iTunes/iPhoto doesn't directly scale and sync the photos directly to the iPhone. I don't know whether that is a good idea or not as the poster is disputing. I could understand there may be an efficiency in having your host computer controlling the scaling of the photos separately from the transfer operation. It would also have been interesting to discover the size of the poster's original photo library that is becoming down ressed to the iPad and the amount of storage of the New iPad.
    Certainly the errors sound similar to when I was attempting to sync my new iPhone 4 with my iPhone 3. The problem was basically that I was trying to put more data into the iPhone than it had memory. Because I was doing this as a sync using my old iPhone 3 settings, iTunes failed to know how much storage the new photo library would take (as it does not up res the photos to the new iPhone photo cache first). In that respect, Apple and its support staff could have been more knowledgeable and helpful.
    I cannot speak to the original poster's problem specifically, but the originals in my iPhoto library contain 26,000 photos in 229GB of storage, the modified photos contain ?? photos in 59GB of storage. It should not be surprising that I could not place the entire library into any iPad without some down resolution or compression. Yes, I prefer to let iTunes/iPhoto take care of the scaling for me. I do think it would be useful if Apple were to place some kind of guidelines as to the amount of storage one would need for photo libraries. Specifically, that is what led me to this post.

    Hi, for two weeks now i havent got into my account for some reason (I think it has been hacked or ive lost my password. i only have one password so i dont get how) so i though that i would try to reset it like any other site. 
    I try to reset it and i type in my Gmail and i instantly get redirected into the Microsoft Outlook site.
    So im thinking maybe i should log into my Outlook or something? So i do that and i change password on that account. But i still cant log in to my skype account.
    So i try to figure out how to reset it for 2 hours with no success.
    And i found this support site and a form i filled in as much as i could and explained that I lost my password and i dont know wich mail my skype account i connected to and that i would like to know wich mail its connected to since i created this skype account maybe 5 years ago.
    FIRST TRY TO RESET MY PASSWORD
    I said that i lost my password and that i dont remember the email (i though i knew the email, since i only have ONE email) i filled out this form and skype would get back to me within 24 hours.
    SECOND TRY TO RESET MY PASSWORD
    So i got contacted back to my email after 2 days, and they said that i need to fill out the form that i JUST FILLED FOR THEM.
    And i though, well fine. maybe i didnt fill it out properly or there wasnt enough info.
    So i did this again and waited again
    THIRD TRY TO RESET MY PASSWORD
    They get back at me again after one day. And i get this answer

    i CLEARLY wrote that i didnt know what email was connected to my skype account and i could give them any info they needed to get my account back.

    Now im freaking pissed of. They get back to me two days later

    So they want me to create a new account because they cant be arsed to help me. 
    So Basicly ive filled out the "Security form" 4 times now. And filled it out to the max every time now (and it takes time). With everthing i knew and even in the section you have to name 5 contacts from the list. i listed 10! 
    I never purchased anything so i dont have any creditcard info on there either.
    So now i have a retarded skype name wich is "[Removed for privacy]" that i didnt even get to pick myself.
    Really? and i cant change that.... and i have to create a new email if i want a new skype account to.

    Your story is similar to mine. I was billed EIGHTEEN TIMES for a twenty-dollar subscription and I disputed seventeen, but my account was blocked. Skype has made me jump through the same hoops as you, filling in forms over and over again. If you e-mail Skype, the customer support e-mail system spits out an "automated reply" but I seriously doubt that they even read the e-mails they receive because I never hear from them again. I have wasted hours and hours and hours trying to fix this issue which is not my fault so there is no reason why I have to do the legwork. If they had any decency they would simply waive the $20 charge to compensate for an infinitesimal amount of the grief this has caused me. The customer service representatives assure, guarantee, promise, that they will take care of the problem but don't. I don't want to open a new account because I don't want to lose the money I have tied up in other subscriptions that are also blocked, which is not right or ethical.  

  • ATV/Surround Sound Sys

    New ATV2. Setup according to directions. Hooked into a Sony Bravia (2 yrs old) system via HDMI. I get picture, YouTube, everything but sound! Turned off Dolby setting (thanx Apple tech support). Now I get sound only through the TV speakers, not the surround system. Advice gratefully sought. Thanx to all.

    I have a typical setup also using a Sony Bravia TV (KDL-46V5100) and a digital surround receiver that sounds similar to yours. I use the TV strictly as a video monitor and get the sound strictly out of my receiver which is always on when I watch TV. The Apple TV is hooked up to the TV monitor using an HDMI cable and to the surround receiver using an optical digital cable.
    On the Apple TV, under the 'Audio & Video' settings I have 'Dolby Digital' set to 'On'; 'Audio Output' set to 'Auto'; 'HDMI Output' set to 'Auto'.
    On the TV, under the 'Sound' menu I have 'Speakers' set to 'Audio System'. This turns off the internal speakers of the TV.
    On the Receiver, since the optical cable is connected to the AV input, I have the AV source selected while watching TV.

  • My mac makes a typewriter sound when I use my mouse.  It is not speaker related, the sound continues after I turn the volume down.  What is this and how do I make it stop?

    My mac has just started making a sound similar to an old fashioned typewriter while I an on line using the mouse.  It does not seem to make this sound while I am using the keyboard.  It is likely electrical because it continues even when I have turned the speaker volume down.  Does anyone know what may be causing this and how it can be stopped.

    Open your mac pro and listen carfully.  It could be coming from a failing hard drive or a bad fan.  If you have more than one drive you could remove the ones you are not currently using and add them back one by one to try to localize or eliminate the sound.  Caution though, only remove drives when your machine is off.  You cannot hot swap the drive bays.

    I have waited all this time for the update now I would like to know if it will include the ability to customized the text message sounds? Or have new ones to choose from???????????????????

    It would be really good to have the ability to have to be able to create message sounds, similar to custom ringtones. Not much of a choice on the installed sounds, and with 5 members of staff in the office all having the same chosen sound on their phone for messages, it is annoying to look at the phone & find that it is not yours making the sound. Customisable sounds would be brill. Can this be possible in a future update, please.

  • Problems with sound in HDV1080i50 format in FCP

    I need a help on the sound in FCP. I recorded in HDV1080i with a Sony HDR-FX1E with a microphone RODE NTG-2 (with AA battery for phantom power). the imported videos in HDV-1080i50, in FCP you hear the sound similar to an extra land, but if the play captured the video with quicktime finder has the sound you hear perfectly. what happens? is the configuration of the sound in FCP, the RODE or setting the camera?

    MPEG files are typically multiplexed (muxed audio and video) and must be converted prior to importing into FCP. MPEG Streamclip can handle most of those tasks; use it to convert the MPEG file into a format that will exactly match your Sequence settings in FCP.

  • No Sound- Display in the System Tray

    Yes... I don't have the Sound display in the system tray where i normally see how loud the tones are when i'm adjust it with the little small weel on the toshiba laptops for the volume (simple, but cool idea^^) ---i don't know why i don't see it- if i klick with the right mouse-button on the other system- symbols, and go to the settings for them, i see, that i have activate every (from the 4) system symbol, except the volume- symbol, which is dubbed over in grey, so i cannot take it on that i see it in the system tray!
    how could i re-activate it? (i also try a system- recovery and search in the services- i dont get this button in my system tray!

    commonly you will have to go to the audio properties and there is a option (checkbox) where you can check/uncheck the "show volume control in the tray" or something which sounds similar. :D
    This checkbox must be checked and you must press "Apply".
    Thats all, there are no other options, just this one in the audio properties.

  • No sound in right speaker/headphon

    I bought the sound blaster Audigy 2 ZS and for while everything was working well. Than day i lost sound in my right speaker than i tried my headphones but my left speaker was fine i was still getting sound from only my left speaker/headphones. Thinking i had a damaged sound card i went out and got the sound blaster li've 24 bit. After i installed it the same problem was happend. I still dont have sound in my right speaker/headphone. I tried everything i updated my drivers and even changed my sound card pci bus slot and nothing worked. Right now i have the Sound blaster li've 24 bit installed.

    Hey, I've just had this same problem happen to me within the past two weeks except that it's with all my freakin' sound equipment (speakers/headphones/canalphones) and the last item happened within the past hour or so. I'm also using the Elite Pro ($375).
    It first happened with my 5. Klipsch speakers ($200) and I figured it was the speakers that went bad because all I get now is a loud shrilling sound when I power up without even having to play anything. However, about a week later, my Sennheiser headphones ($80) lost sound in the left side and I figured it was a huge string of bad luck since the audio problems were slightly different. This time though, like two days later, since I gotta have my gaming and also music, I hooked up my Shure earcanals ($75) and now the left side of those has almost disappeared like my other headphones. The right is real loud like normal with both, but almost nothing in the left side and/or completely gone and sometimes I hear a crackling shrill sound similar to the speakers.
    With all three of those going bad, it has to be the sound card. I swapped slots, reloaded drivers and all that, but I still have the problem. I even tested my headphones at least (not the speakers since they're bulkier) on my MP3 player, Nintendo DS, and other computer with an xtrememusic in it, and the left side of those headphones are still shot. Did the soundcard somehow disable the left sides and they can be reactivated somehow or are they now completely shot? What's up and can something be done about my sound card damaging those items? Cause now I'm PO'd as that's a lotta freakin' money. They outta be able to be replaced under the other companies warranties, but I don't want this problem to happen again if I receive them back.

  • Sound Problem in Windows projectors

    I have produced two projectors on a Mac to run on both Mac
    and Windows. Mac versions work perfectly. On the Windows side, on
    one projector all is well for a while, then sounds in channel one
    stop playing, while channel two works perfectly. On the other
    projector, the sounds on channel two stop after a time, while
    channel one works perfectly.
    All sounds are AIFF format, 22500 sampling rate, 8 bit depth.
    All are imported to Director cast, not linked.
    No video, no MIAWs, no Shockwave audio.
    The basic structure of the projector is a main file which
    includes a menu system that takes users to various sub-files. As
    each sub-file ends, the users return to the menu file or go to the
    next sub file in sequence. A given sub file will always play
    perfectly if it is one of the first few chosen, but after running
    several sub files, all sub files have the sound channel not playing
    problem, even ones that ran perfectly just moments before.
    I am using an HP Pavilion a210e computer running Windows XP
    Pro. I have taken the projectors to a friend's Windows 98 machine
    and get exactly the same results.
    I have tried setting purge priorities to get sound files out
    of memory. I have each subfile preloading its sounds. I tried
    attaching sounds to Sprites.
    Any ideas?

    I have seen a bunch of folks having problems like this
    lately. Try
    using mp3 sounds instead of AIFF. PCs are notoriously bad at
    dealing
    with AIFF formatted files, and I have seen postings that
    sound similar
    to this where the sound works for a while then a channel
    stops working.
    If memory serves, using MP3 audio worked better.

    I have updated SMC driver this afternoon. Since, I have heard crackling / clicking sounds when I play any audio with my headphones in. Initially I thought my headphones are playing up, but the problem continues on speaker as well. Any solution? (I have not backed up)

    I am also experiencing a sound issue, although I've had it since before the upgrade.
    If I leave the laptop untouched the machine is completely silent.
    If I then mute iTunes then hit play there is an audible pop/click followed by static. This static stops 15-20 seconds after I hit stop in iTunes, also with a small pop/click.
    Does this sound similar?

  • No Sound when converting MPEG file to MOV - Quicktime Pro

    Hi Everyone,
    Just got my first Mac (MacBook Pro) which I love but I'm having a problems importing MPEG 4 files from my Sony digital camera. They play fine through quicktime in the sony format but when I import into quicktime (or imovie for that matter) then export in a .mov file all the sound is lost.
    I see some people have reported problems with sound similar to mine but none appear to be the same?
    Any ideas??

    I am having a similar problem and I see this was never persued any further. I am trying to convert an mpeg file to a mov file using quicktime pro. When I do there is no sound.
    Movie info for mov file is: Format is H.264 Decoder, 320 x 240, Millions, FPS is 15, Data Rate is 256.21 kbits/sec.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm new to quicktime and frustrated from spending hours trying to figure this out! Thanks in advance!
