My torch 9800 really really nuked

Hi
I really pray someone will help me here..i have a torch 9800 which i owned for a long time. a month back i tried upgrading my OS to the new version, and my phone worked for 2days and stopped. the phone would go on and off on its own. then i did the reaload again and this time didn't manage to load the OS again. and since hen i've been serching on how to resolve my problem. i have tried BBSAK and JL_Cmder my phone always disconnects stating (recconecting to jvm). I've tried almost all of the suggested ways on how to wipe the phone but i just can't come right. maybe i am missing something.
what it does sometimes is show battery charging on the screen with a red light off and after 5sec you'll see it trying to restart then it goes back to black screen and red light on. is there's any other wipper i can use?
Thanx in advance.
Ray

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Given your description, I'm actually thinking you may have a hardware problem...perhaps your battery...
Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB):
With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
Remove the battery
Wait 15 minutes
Insert the battery
Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
This has been known to "kick start" some BBs.
It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:
Obtain a known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens
The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem.
Otherwise, beyond what you've already discovered, here are some more tricks to try:

  • I can't send a photo by text - New user, Blackberry Torch 9800

I recently started using the Blackberry Torch 9800 and I'm still getting the hang of things.
This means I'm at the stage where i'm still accidentally muting myself while i leave a phone message or putting people on hold with my ear.  If anyone has a master solution for this, that's welcomed, but it's not my main question.
I want to know how to send a photo by text.  I've tried, and it comes up with an x next to it, as it hasn't sent.
i looked around the internet and found the suggestion that I resize my images using some app.  The app they suggested doesn't exist anymore so I downloaded "Fast Photo Editor Free" and resized my image.  It still didn't send.  I made it smaller than you'd ever want an image to be, and it still wouldn't send.
To be clear, I can put the photo in the text, but once I push send, the text shows up with a red x next to it.
I'm not really sure what to do.

  • Problem connecting desktop manager with torch 9800

I have a lot of difficulties with my BB Torch 9800, since I forgot my password (for desktop manager).
Can't connect neither BB Protect to save data nor browse with Google search.
Could somebody help me solve this?
    Thanks

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
You've got a lot of inter-related and separate issues all mixed up in there. Can you perhaps separate them and provide adequate details of each so that we can perhaps understand and help you?
For example, the Desktop Software password is the exact same one that you use to unlock your BB after you either have caused it to password lock or enough time has passed that it has auto-locked. But that password is totally irrelevant to everything else you've mentioned...and you really need to figure that one out first, as without it, you cannot even use your BB for the other things at all.

  • How to block my lost BB Torch 9800?

I lost my BB Torch 9800 few days ago and I have not download/activated the BB Protect feature. There was no password, no lock at all. I also removed my sim so I could not even try to call it. I hope you could help me block the unit in order not to be accessed or used by anyone.
Below are info I got from the box, which I hope could help..?
    Pin # [removed]
    IMEI [removed]
    BT MAC [removed]
I just sent a BBM invitation thinking that someone already has my phone and hoping that I can talk to the one who found it, but still pending. I really don't know if this will help but just trying my luck. I will appreciate any help...
    Thanks!

  • BlackBerry Torch 9800 V.S. iPhone 4G: which is better for playing DVD/Video

Though BlackBerry continue to be extremely popular, it's no secret that RIM needed to step up its game and really work on improving and advancing its operating system. And over the past few months, the company has given us previews of a refreshed OS. The RIM BlackBerry Torch 9800 is the first device to ship running BlackBerry OS 6 and will be available starting August 12 for US$199.99 with a two-year contract. The slider phone--a first for RIM--brings together a touchscreen and physical keyboard into a solid, compact design. The new OS brings some much-needed and welcome additions, including a better browser, an enhanced multimedia experience, and improved user interface. Sure, in the grand scheme of things, none of this is new but at least it puts RIM back on track. So we thought it might be a good idea to compare BlackBerry Torch 9800 with the iPhone 4G to find out, which one is a better smartphone. In this article, we have compared some of the key features available on the new BlackBerry smartphone with Apple's iPhone 4G.

Which carrier did you use in India with the Blackberry 9800?? As Tmobile only work with GSM network.
Now you said you swtich from IPHONE back to the Blackberry 9800. Do you have a Blackberry DATA plan now on tmobile? No just the regular data plan. As regular data plan does not work with Blackberry.

  • Used torch 9800 or bold 9700/9780

So I can get a torch 9800 for $115 (It's used but mint condition). Or I can get a 9780 (its hard to find one for around 100 - 120 (used). Or I can get a 9700 for ($80)
I don't really use games, or apps which is why I'm getting a blackberry not an iPhone. I heard the torch has worse voice quality and stuff... And I kind of want to get a 9360 curve since I can get OS 7, but will not being able to get new OS affect me with the torch or bolds?
I also hear the keyboard isn't as good on the torch?

Of the choices offered, I would go with the Curve 9360 for the simple reason that it has OS 7.  As for the voice quality, I've yet to encounter a BlackBerry model with poor voice quality.  As for the keyboard, I only have experience with Bold and Torch keyboards (not the Curve) and both are very good.  The best physical keyboard, and many will agree with me, is on the Bold 9900 with OS 7 but that is not one of your choices.
Keep in mind that whether you get an OS 6 phone or an OS 7 phone, BB10 phones are just around the corner and they promise to be quite spectacular so you might not require the most up to date OS at this point.
    I hope that helps you.

  • Browser configuration is not visible in options of browser for Torch 9800

I have recently bought Torch 9800 and I have upgraded my plant to use browser services.
Problem arised when I tried to upgrade Blackberry App World, while downloading my phone automatically rebooted.
After reboot there was no icon for Blackberry App World and also I couldnt browse.
So I checked with my service provider and they asked me to check my browser settings,
to my misery now there is no 'Browser Configuration' in option menu.
Please somebody help me with this...I am really stuck as SP says nothing they can do about it.

Hi. I tried it, but it did not help. :(
It is strange. Before I had the error in log:
Unable to rename '/appl/ucm_cluster/server/weblayout/resources/schema.work' to '/appl/ucm_cluster/server/weblayout/resources/schema' while publishing schema.
When I looked into the 'schema' dir there was old doctypes in js file
In 'shcema.work' which was supposed to be renamed to 'schema' there was my correct document type in js file.
Now in /server/weblayout/resources/schema/views/doctypes/all.js file there is only my correct document type but i still have in gui the old wrong doctypes! :(

This may seem to be an obvious answer but I can't find it anywhere on the bb site.  I want to purchase Outlook 2013 but want to make sure I can synch it with my Torch 9800.  I assume I can but can someone please verify?  I really appreciate your help.

Torch 9800 is compatible with Outlook 2010.  Found it!

  • Torch 9800

My boss lives in U.S. has BB torch 9800 with AT&T service.  When in Toronto he can receive mail, receive texts, send texts but can't reply to emails.  when he hits reply it says sent with a red X (so not really sent).  It usually sends when he gets to the wireless in the hotel.
Does anyone know why he can't reply to messages while driving around Toronto?  Settings?  Service?  Big thanks

No international data plan from AT&T?

  • I need help with my Blackberry Torch 9800 media card....

I've had my Blackberry Torch 9800 for almost a year now and I haven't faced a problem like this one before, One day, Out of nowhere, My blackberry started acting up, the lock button wouldn't work, the touch screen and keypad wouldn't work, I wasn't able to access anything. Then the batteries drained out all of a sudden, so I went home and charged it and I thought that there was something wrong with the battery, but then when it turned on again, it had erased all my media! All my photos, videos and music, and every time I finish charging my phone a prompt would pop up and say that my media card isn't formatted! So I wanted to know if there's anyway to fix this?! The bigger problem is that the rest of my data was on my laptop and it's hard disk crashed.....So now I have nowhere to go to to retrieve my files Is there any solution to this? It's really doing my head in! Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
While rare, spontaneous wiping and rebooting do happen on BBs. You, sadly, are the very unlucky one to also have your backups on your laptop wiped out by it's failure. Very bad luck indeed...hopefully you were backing up your laptop somewhere.
As with all restores, there must be a source...your BB will never be that source as it has no "deleted items" nor "recycle bin" from which to do so. Rather, an external backup source is required. Given your laptop situation, the only other source I can think of is if you had activated the FREE (with a proper BIS plan) BB Protect, and had been backing up your data "to the cloud"...if so, then that will be an available source for restore.
Sadly, if you have no source from which to restore, then that's the end of that hope...
In any event -- first, we need to make sure that you BB is actually OK...and that will require some work on your part. Here's what I recommend...
At the top of each device forum, there should be some "sticky" threads that discuss the OS levels available for many models. If they include your model, then please use those as reference as you proceed. Otherwise, you will have to dig through the official download portal for OS packages for your model:
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
From a PC, you can install any compatible (e.g., for your exact BB Model Number) OS package to a BB via this procedure:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Device-Software/How-To-Reload-Your-Operating-Syste...
Note that while written for "reload" and the Storm, it can be used to upgrade, downgrade, or reload any BB device model -- it all depends on the OS package you download and install to your PC. If that OS package is from a carrier other than the carrier for which your BB was originally manufactured, then delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
Be sure that you remove, from your PC, any other BB device OS packages as having more than one installed to the PC can cause conflicts with this procedure.
You may also want to investigate the use of BBSAK (bbsak.org) to perform the wipe it is capable of.
You may also want to try this procedure to perhaps narrow down the precise causal item:
Load your OS "bare bones"...if anything is optional, do not install it.
If the behavior presents immediately, then try a different OS with step 1
If the behavior does not immediately present, then run for as long as it takes for you to be sure that the behavior will not present.
Add one thing -- no matter how tempting, just one.
If the behavior does not present immediately, then again run for long enough to be sure it will not have the same problem
Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all things are loaded or the behavior presents
When the behavior presents, you know the culprit...the last thing you loaded.
If the behavior does not re-present, then you know that either step 1 or 2 cured it.
If the behavior presents no matter what, then you likely have a hardware level issue for which no amount of OS or software can cure.
If you are on MAC, you are limited to only your carriers sanctioned OS packages...but can still use any levels that they currently sanction. See this procedure:
KB19915How to perform a clean reload of BlackBerry smartphone application software using BlackBerry Desktop Software

  • Torch 9800 - Mobile Data and BIS not activated - Mail & Browse fail, Opera Mini is slow and MSN and Yahoo go in timeout

    I have a BB Torch 9800 with OS 6.0 Bundle 2534
I had a contract with the Mobile Operator including the Data Package and everything was working fine, I have access to the mail through BIS, MSN Messenger and Yahoo Messenger was working Ok, as far as Whatsup. Also the Browser was working Ok.
When I was on roaming I have settled “Roaming Off” in “Mobile Network Options” to just use Internet over Wi-Fi when I was under the Wi-Fi coverage.
Then I’ve decided to migrate the contract to “Recharchable” and also decided to dismiss the Data Packet because of cost limitations. Now I have BIS in “not connected” state.
Problem now is that I cannot get the apps working when connected to any Wi-Fi AP.
Mail is not working. MSN & Yahoo returns the message “Unable to find the requested server” when attempting to login. The Browse is also not working and only Opera Mini seems to work but it takes several minutes to build a page.
I’ve also tried to ping the AP and it rarely succeed, sometimes all attempts are failing, sometimes one attempt succeed.
It seems to my eyes that there is a terribly big delay and some applications (except mail and browse that shows not to work) go in timeout with the message previously described.
I’m not sure whether BIS access or no access is influencing the BB behavior with a Wi-Fi connection and making dramatically slower.
The BB connects at Layer 1 with the AP because I can see the BB MAC address at the AP’s menu. I’ve tried also with DHCP Client and Manual IP configuration, no way.
I’ve found at http://forums.crackberry.com/general-blackberry-discussion-f2/unable-find-requested-server-bb-9330-a... that it could be a bug in the 6.0.
I’ve searched tons of forum postings and it seems no one has the clue of this problem. Unfortunately the Torch 9800 cannot be upgraded to the 7.x. this is really bad as it seems I have purchased a “dead” mobile phone.
Of course I’ve tried with lots a different Aps. I’m a technician and I think I’ve done a proper troubleshooting before to come to this conclusion.
Anyone has an update about this problem or, I have no other chance than throwing away this phone and purchase a nice Samsung Note II hopping not be blocked with another unexpected showstopper.
    Thanks in advance.

The only two options available to you are adding BIS to your plan or continue using Opera which works outside of BIS (the BlackBerry browser does not).
    Cheers.

  • My blackberry Torch 9800 has been stolen,, Please Help

    Good day all,
I need your help. My blackberry Torch 9800 has been stolen, I need to erase all my personal data and images.  If there is a way to do this, please advise me.
    I really need your help.
    Thanks

If you had a third-party app, such as BlackBerry Protect installed, you could accomplish this.  If you have no such app installed, there is nothing you can do to wipe your device or track its location.
Make sure you call Mobily to cancel your SIM card so the person who finds your phone cannot rack up charges on your account.

  • BLACKBERRY TORCH 9800

Hello everyone. A few days ago the screen of my blackberry torch 9800 stopped working, if i switch on my phone the keyboard and the red light on the too of the screen work, but the screen stays black. I would like to know if somebody else had this problem and if i have to change the entire screen to solve it or there's something else i can do. Thanks

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness shows up, the first thing to try is a proper reboot:
With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes.
See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Failing that, I recommend that you attempt to boot into Safe Mode:
KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Mode
It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, see what happens.
If the behavior ceases, then think carefully...what happened just before this behavior started? A new app? An update? A Theme? Something else? Think carefully as the smallest change could be causal...and attempt to undo whatever that was.
But if the behavior continues in Safe Mode, then you may indeed have a hardware problem...for which no amount of OS or Software level "fixes" can be of any use.
Nevertheless, you may want to consider more drastic actions -- WIPE, OS Reload, BBSAK Wipe/Reload, and the "Bare Bones" OS Reload Process. To prepare, you should be sure that you have a full backup to your PC...please review the Backup link in my auto-sig on this post for instructions.
