My volume down button is no longer working. What is there for me to do?

Is there anything I could do? I've had my iPhone less than 2 months. This isn't my fault at all. It seems right after I updated it last week it stopped working. Please help.

There isn't really anything your cell provider can do as this is a hardware issue, and therefore an Apple issue. While going to the Apple Store may be inconvenient, it's really your best option as they will either fix the hardware issue or simply give you a free replacement phone. Make sure your phone is backed up and that you schedule an appointment at the Genius Bar.

My 6th gen nano ipod stopped working. I figured it was because it was next to my sweaty body, so put it in rice. I sought help from internet and tried all of the troubleshooting steps; i.e pushing down the power button and the volume down button consecutively, plugging it in to a power source, waiting 10 minutes and pushing the buttons while it was plugged in. Nothing has worked thus far. Is there anything else that I can try?

  • HT4993 My volume down button is not working.  The UP button works, but not the down button.  I have tried to restart it and that didn't solve the problem.

My volume down button doesn't work on my iPhone.  The UP buttown works, but not the down button.  I have tried a hard reset and that didn't fix it.

    Try this.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • Lumia 720 volume down button not working

Hey buddies, I'm using lumia 720 and often i get this volume down button not working.
I changed the button by giving it in nokia care for 3times and still im facing the same problem.
And also noticed that this is happening to most of the lumia 720's.
so kindly look into it and rectify the problem as soon as possible.
If there is any solution for this, kindly reply me.
    Thanks in advance...!

Your only solution would be to return the unit back to nokia care for inspection,if there is a recurring issue with this im sure nokia would be aware of it now,and it could be a slight manufacturing defect which again would be looked into.
If  i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.

hello i have a imac 8.1 and the volume down button stop working..
basically it seems that the f11 button is dead cause i can't make shortcut to this button anymore..
i had the maverick osx and i install some vst for ableton before that happend but i make format the disk and clean install the osx lion and it doesn't fix the problem.. any help ??

Very simple take it to an Apple Store or AASP and have it professionally diagnosed. Anything else would be guessing. Do NOT spend a penny on it until it is professionaly diagnosed otherwise you stand and excellent chance of throwing good money after bad.

  • Volume down button doesn't work

I am having problems with my Volume down button.  I've had the 5 for 3 weeks and it worked for the first 2 weeks.  I can only get the volume down with the earbuds volume control or on the screen if its an option.  I have reset my phone several times and I have the most updated IOS and it still doesn't work.
Any one else haveing the same issue or have any solutions for me.  I guess next I will try to restore the phone.... just really didn't want to have to go that route, but it may be necessary so I can at least try all my options.

Yes, restore the iPhone with current iTunes on computer. If still problem after that, make Genius reservation or Service arrangement and take or send to Apple for resolution under Warranty.

my volume down button wont work

Try restarting your device. If that doesn't work, take it to an Apple store. If it is less than a year old and just stopped working, they will replace it for free (be sure to back it up to iTunes first). If you dropped it, you will have to pay because Apple will not replace a device due to "Human Error." If it is more than a year old, you will either have to pay to get it fixed, or have to pay to get it replaced.

  • HT4528 My volume down button doesn't work on my iPhone 5

Just yesterday my volume down button stopped working. Did a reset on the phone and no fix. Any suggestions without having to go to the support desk?

    Hi Gogettem,
Depending on what 'reset' you have done there may be other options.
It will also depend on what you mean by stopped working.  If you mean that the button itself is stuck in then it is a hardware issue and needs replacement.  If you mean that it still pushes like normal but it won't change for you or won't give you any indication of changing then it's possible the below solution can work.
First make sure you backup your iPhone to either iCloud or iTunes.
Then use iTunes and while the iPhone is plugged in click on Restore iPhone from the summary page.  When the restore finishes, the important part is to restore as 'new' first and do NOT restore from backup.
When you restore as 'new' you should test it.  If it still does not work then you need a replacement.

  • The volume down button on my iPad mini is not working.

The volume down button on the right hand side of my iPad mini is not working. I can turn the volume up but not down for sum reason. My father thinks I should take it and have it fixed but I'm wound earring if it's sum thing else!

Thanks; I tried this last night and it didn't work. I think it might be a software issue and will return it tomorrow.  I'll try restoring one more time.

  • Volume down button stopped working Acer Liquid E700

Dear reader, I have an Acer Liquid E700 for about 3 months now. Suddenly the volume down button stopped working. I didn't do anything strange with the phone, but I think the problem started to appear right after I detached/attached the back case (but I don't think anything went wrong there). The volume down button is neither working for the volume, nor the screenshot option. I have the latest system update on the phone and the rest of the phones buttons work fine. Do you know what the problem is and perhaps how to try solve it? Thanks in advance,Vincent

After pressing the button alot of times, it suddenly started working again -_-. Thanks for the answer anyway!

  • I dropped my iPhone 6 plus and now the volume down button is lodged in. How do I fix this?

I haven't had for my iPhone 6 plus for long - almost a month. But I just noticed that the volume down button is lodged in and it is stuck which must have been from me dropping it. But it doesn't affect the volume whatsoever as I can still lower or increase the volume, I was wondering what can I do to fix this or if I bring it to apple will they fix it for me for free?

Since you have dropped the phone I don't think that they will do the repair for free, sorry.
But you should not try to repair this on your own, make an appointment at the Genius Bar at an Apple Store and see what they decide.

hi i just wanna ask about the volume down button in the ipad 2 ,it was mute the device when hold it at once but before 2days i noticed that the device did not mute when i hold it ,why? and how i fix this by the way it is still volume down

Have you tried restarting or rebooting the iPad and then see if the volume control will work again?
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • The volume down button has become hard to push down, almost stuck and my phone does at 20%-30% on my iphone 5. Do I qualify for it to be swapped?

I have an iphone 5 and I've been in before for the speaker because it doesn't sound as loud as before. Te volume down button takes effort to turn the volume down where as the volume up button is literally just a click. Also my phones been dying between 20%-30% sometimes higher. I have an appointment at 5pm today and I wanna ensure I get a properly phone working before my warranty is up (within the next two weeks) what should I do?

I said that cause I've gone in for two of the issues before and all they said was to do the whole restore backup stuff... Partial is hardware and from my understanding the either fix it or swap it out. I just wanna make sure I have a working phone before my warranty is up. Otherwise I'm going to have to pay a deductible for a new phone... So I guess what I'm trying to say is, is there anything I can say to benefit me?
