My zen micro is messed up.....can someone he

my zen micro just started being slow all of a sudden, it takes forever to start up, sometimes it takes forever to change songs, it takes forever to do anything, my computer won't let me get new firmware, and my computer recognizes my micro very rarely. can someone help me? please?

Hmmm December 2005. Hm, I guess it's not the battery then. Unless you leave it in places with hot temperatures often. But I doubt that. So it's definetely not the battery. Perhaps the number of songs? I only have about 450 so I wouln't be able to tell (although I have ZVM but used to have Zen micro). But I think if it is becoming a really bad problem for you, then you could ask the Creative costumer support. I'm out of ideas as to what it could be, although I wouldn't rule out the song amount possibility.
I'll try to go and dig out some info so check back to see if I found something. Good luck!!

  • Zen Micro firmware update, but can't backup files b/c "player is not connect

I want to update the firmware on my Zen Micro 5GB so I can put new songs on it through Creative Mediasource, but the computer won't read the device---all i get is the error message "player not connected." I opened up the firmware download, however, and i am able to install it on the player (somehow now the computer seems to know the player is there--the zen micro responds to the update), but it warns to backup all files as they will be lost in the update. I cannot backup my songs to the computer because it won't recognize the player as connected! What the heck can i do to backup my files?

what in the world? i unplugged my zen micro from the USB port as i was giving up for the night trying to make it work, when i decided to try it one last time. all of a sudden creative mediasource popped up from the minimize and it read my player like normal. very strange...

  • I can´t organize files on my Zen Micro using MP10 (and can I get rid of the firmwar

Hi, I installed the software that came with the Zen, the first one hung up my computer (forgot what it was called) but media explorer seemed to work ok. I was recommended to install the firmare so that I could transfer files using MP0. I did this (one of the earlier versions). I drag and drop my music folders into MP0 and sincronize but when they are transfered I get new folder created with new names onto my Zen (album names, song names etc.) everything disordered and many folders with only one song in them. I can't seem to figure out how to organize my music. Is there a way of reformatting the player, get rid of the firmware and make it work properly with media explorer again (since media explorer doesn?t recognise the player after the firmware instalation) Please help, the sound quality of this player is great but music transfers and organizing is giving me a big headache.

    Ear-Rock,
You can download the version of Zen Micro Media Explorer that support the MTP firmware you have now on the player. The version is 4.00.8 and is available on the website. You can also change the firmware to the PDE one by downloading and installing the PDE firmware version .02.05.

  • Zen Micro problem player frozen, can connect to pc, what to d

    hello community,
My 6 month old zen micro has frozen after a small drop. I have read of this product freezing at the creative labs screen but mine freezes once it has turned on completely (i see the song/artist/album of the last song i was playing). Here, the touchpad does not work and i cannot turn it off without removing the battery, although i can turn it on normally. Also the glow around hte player doesnt work but the main LCD works.
When i try to access the emergency menu or whatever wit hall of the options (clean up/format etc) I cannot do anything since the touchpad is unresponsi've. I can, however, charge it with my computer and sync files that way.
So my question is: How can I revi've my Zen Micro using a connection with my computer, being able to transfer stuff?

Right... I havent tried anything insane i've smacked it around and dropped it again but nothing huge or drastic yet... so i guess it is an internal mechanical problem that cant be fixed with a new firmware or rolling back my current firmware?

  • Zen Micro and Vista - I can't install my Zen! Please he

I have a Zen Micro that I bought back in 2004 and have been running it with no problems whatsoever on my old Windows 2000 machine. I have just bought a new computer with Windows Vista, and I can't get Vista to successfully install the Zen software or recognise my Zen. Every time I attach the unit to my computer I get the "found new hardware" message, and Vista asks me to supply the software that came with the unit. When I insert the CD, the computer scans if for a bit,?then says it can't find the drivers and aborts the installation. Any hints / tips on getting Vista to recognis my Zen Micro? Thanks in advance!

I experienced the same problems in Vista with 2 different Zen Micros on firmware 2.2.02. I tried everything and then when I tried another Vista computer it WORKED right away! This made me sure that it was the Vista computer and nothing else. All that happens is the Vista computer tries to look on Windows Update and doesn't find the drivers so prompts you to insert the install disc. Those not connected to the Internet at the time don't have the problem.
    SOLUTION:
When prompted to insert the install disc all you need to do is the following:
    Click "Show Other Options"
Choose to look in a folder on the computer
    Enter c:\Windows
Wait for it for find the driver, thats IT! This also worked for my external DVD-RW which had the same problem.
    Happy Zen'ing!

  • Zen Micro, copletely messed

Hi,?Last week I have bought a new Zen Micro. It worked, untill today. I wanted to upload some new files, and it got on the "creative logo" on the screen. So I went to this site, and tried everything what was mentioned:rebooting (did not work)clean up (after two hours, still the "cleaning up" message)Format all (the same after two hours),and finally reload firmware ("Erasing firmware" was on the screen for more than two hours, with no result)?Installing new firmware gave allways the following message after double clicking the exe file: "player not attached, please attach player". It was attached, I used different USB ports which work for other devices. Also the battery is reloaded when attached. What's your advice, bring it in for a new one or are there other tricks?kind regards,Wim

Well sorry to tell you all..it only gets worse. The more you try to fix it the worse it gets. Had the same problems, tried everything that was suggested on the boards, called tech support and had to mail it in. I have not received my Micro back yet, but I am hoping the problem will be perminately fixed. I can't say I would recommend this player to any one. It seems to have many flaws. The constant freezing (or locking) up was my first sign. Take it back if you can!

  • Zen Micro - Stuck in recovery; can't connect; can't upgrade firmw

I sent a request to customer service, but since I purchased my Zen 3 months ago, I'm not eligible for email support. SO, if anyone can help, I would appreciate it...since I can't do anything with my Zen right now.
I just bought into a subscription service and my 4Gb Zen Micro is stuck in recovery mode after upgrading to PlaysForSure firmware.
    Here's what happened:
. Downloaded and installed Creative Zen Micro PlaysForSure Firmware update 2.2.02. Zen restarted after installation stalled. Displayed "Firmware Problem"
    2. Zen connected to PC and only recognized by XP as an MTP Device MTP Device Properites:
    Model Name: Creative Zen Micro
    Manufacturer: Creative Technology Ltd
    Firmware version: 2.2.02_0.00.65
    3. Downloaded and installed Creative Zen Micro Media Explorer Web Update (ZENM_PCAPP_LB_MTP_PDE.exe) -- install failed because it never recognized my Zen, which was connected
    4. Downloaded and installed Creative PlaysForSure Devices Plugin 5.00.36 for Creative
MediaSource 5 Player/Organizer (CMS5_MTP_PCAPP_LB_5_00_36.exe) -- install successful, but it never recognized my Zen, which was connected I think I need to reload the firmware but I can't get any of the firmware updates to work. None of the creative software, including firmware updates, recognizes that the Zen is connected. I have not been able to figure out a way to have XP (SP2) recognize the device so that Ican reload the firmware and use the Creative Software. WMP 9, 0 and (I tried them all) do not recognize the device when it's plugged in. I also plugged in the Zen into two different computers. Same results.
    5. Tried directions on Solution ID # 4275 MP3 player not detected. Same results.
    6. I've followed the registry edits suggested on Solution ID # 0053 MTP players not recognized in Windows XP and that did not fix the problem either.

It took a while, but I finally have my Zen Micro working again. I did some searching in the forums on "Firmware Problem" and that gave me some great ideas. Here's what I did.
. Uninstalled WMP and 0. Rolled back to WMP 9.
    2. Edited my registry. I searched for anything related to the Creative software and deleted the entry. I just searched for the word "Creative". Restarted my PC.
    3. When I plugged in my Zen, Windows recognized it, without using the MTP driver. Problem was that I wasn't be able to load a driver to use the device. So, I went and installed WMP0.
    4. After installing WMP0, I plugged in my Zen and Windows recognized the device and installed a driver.
    5. I ran the firmware upgrade from Creative and I was back in business.
    Hope this hel
    ps.

  • Zen Micro firmare upgrade, now can't fast forward or auto resum

I upgraded my Zen Micro to version 2.2.02e from ..something so I could use ZenCast. Now I cannot fast forward tracks, the "time remaining" counter remains at zero always and it will no longer auto resume. Also "Seek to" doesn't work. Did anyone else have this problem? Is this firmware broken?
    Cheers!
    J

    jrbg5,
I forgot to mention... when I tried?my ZEN?on my son's PC and Laptop, both of which work fine with his ZEN, that both of those machines are running Win2k ... not XP SP2.
The only XP PC in my house is my tower running XP MCE2005 SP2.BTW...thinking back, the USB cable may have stopped charging around the time I installed my Creative Web Cam. It got me thinking about driver conflicts, but since my ZEN doesn't work on the other PC's ... I'm lost as what to do next.

  • Zen Micro Firmware update - Now can't transfer W

I loaded my WMA files to my new ZEN MICRO 4Gb player... Then I signed up for Napster to Go...Said I need a firmware update...did the update...Had reload again...but, now all my transfers of WMA files fail! MP3 files work fine...Anyone have the issue before?

Ever since I upgraded the firmware for the micro, I have been unable to transfer WMAs via Media Player v0 or Creative MediaSource. The error I receive is "An error has occurred while transferring this file". This only occurs on WMAs. MP3s transfer fine.

  • Zen micro headphone jack. Can you purchase the smaller curcuitboa

I would prefer to not deal with an RMA and do it myself. Acutally, I have already attempted to glue the jack with no success. Is it possible for me to buy the smaller motherboard from creative/internet? Since I have opened it will creative totally ignore me or make me pay extra?

You can't buy this anywhere as a spare.
As you've opened the player Creative will charge you full price for the repair assuming that (a) they realise or (b) you tell them.

  • ZEN Micro isnt under warranty, can i still get a rep

i dont have a warranty on my mp3, but i need to send it in for a repair. Am I able to do that?

I have a different player, about a couple years old, that I mistakenly washed and, obviously, doesn't work anymore. I just wanted to know if there was any hope for it. I think I might have emailed Creative through the wrong player,?and that's why I?got a reply. My first reply was that the player could get repaired.......for almost the price of a new one (no thanks). I replied with a couple of questions only to get a reply back that my complimentary support has expired. I think it's ridicuolous not even two years after I spent over $250 on a product of theirs and I can't even get question answered. Ditto on going with another company when I purchase my next player unless Creative comes through with answers.Message Edited by Demonseed on 05-06-200709:2 AM

  • What is the technical reason for lack of Audible support on Zen Micro and othe

This is addressed to the any Creative developer who reads this. I am a developer and find it hard to understand why a relati'vely brain-dead product like a 28 Meg Muvo Nomad can support Audible but the more powerful Zen Micro's cannot.
Can someone give us the technical reason for this?

I dont think there is a technical reason behind it. A simple firmware update should be able to support Audible, OGG, and the rest of formats that the player does not support.

It has been reported by some of our customers that they have experienced reduced battery life after charging their Zen Micro. Our product development team has researched these reports and determined that the users may have experienced this after they plugged their Zen Micro into the AC adapter that was already inserted into a wall socket with the AC power on.
While this is not the conventional way to plug in a player for charging, we wanted to ensure that our customers did not experience this problem, so we have developed a solution to address this, which simply involves upgrading the Zen Micro's firmware.
If you need assistance in doing this, please contact our customer support team and they will be happy to assist you.

  • Zen Micro Photo 2nd Quart

<SPAN>Correct me if I'm wrong but we are now in the 3rd quarter? <SPAN>I do believe Creative owes us an official explanation as to the <SPAN>delay of this product. I'm holding off buying a Zen Micro so I <SPAN>can at least see the Zen Micro Photo. Due to bad eyesight the <SPAN>color contrast makes it easier for me to see the menus.
<SPAN>In all fairness to us consumers, a best of show award at CES <SPAN>is a very prestigious award but we need an actual product to back it up.
<SPAN>As of now the Zen Micro Photo is VAPORWARE in my book.

It was initially slated for June, and then Summer. I've heard August mentioned, but you'll probably just have to wait and see.
