Mysql connectivity through web analysis

Hi ,
I hv added "mysql-connector-java-5.1.6-bin" @
C:\Hyperion\deployments\Tomcat5\WebAnalysis\webapps\WebAnalysis\WEB-INF\lib
bt I am nt getting any mysql driver option in the web analysis, I wanna work with the mysql data please throw some light .

Hi kishore,
You can not use the Mysql in webanalysis as a datasource. WebAnalysis supports only following datasources-
1)Relational db(Oracle, SQL server, DB2,Teradata)
2) Essbase/Planning
3) HFM
4) SSAS (Micrsosoft product)
5) SAP BW

Error connecting to web analysis report from workspace

Hi,
There are a number of web analysis reports. There is a link to one in a planning task list. However, when the report is opened an error appears saying
Required application context analyzer is not available. Please contact your administrator
The report opens is web analysis. I tried other reports from within workspace by browsing to them from within the folder structure and got the error for all of them.
Has anyone seen this before?

A) restart your services in correct order
B) be sure that the analyzer.properties (baseurl) is correct and can be reached from the workspace server.
C) wrong SSL config and certificates produce sometimes suprisingly strange error messages.

Mysql connection through netbeans problem

Hi All - I am trying to connect to a mysql database using the following:
Connection con = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:mysql://localhost/database?" +
"user=user&password=pass");But am getting an error of: SQLException: No suitable driver found for jdbc:mysql://local...
I have downloaded MySQL Connector/J and have added it to the netbeans project libraries and still nothing works. Has anyone any idea what I am doing wrong? Thanks

Because you haven't loaded the Driver yet, either with Class.forName or DriverManager.registerDriver.
Also, I hope your user is really "user" and your password really "pass", because if "user" and "pass" are variables names that url won't work anyway. And, in anycase, you're better off using the getConnection(url, user, pass) form of getConnection anyway.

SAP and TAS Connection through Web Services

HI Experts,
we are planning to Integrate SAp and another TAS system using web services (no XI/PI). Please tell me if this way is correct.
XML format of iDoc will be the data format, web service technology will be used to exchange data between SAP and TAS.
To Transfer data to TAS, the client application running on SAP server will try to connect to the web service running on TAS server. Once connection is established, idoc data will be sent to TAS, then the connection will be closed.
To transfer data to SAP, the client application running on TAS server will try to make connection to the web service running on SAP server. Once connection is established, idoc data will be sent to SAP, then the connection will be closed.

Hello,
What will be you Language used for Connection.
One method i may suggest is use ABAP FTP.
With this push the files to a file sever location and read it using webservice.
like wise let webservice generate a file and place a file in location and let ABAP prog pick the file.
this way you can maintain a status flag for the number of records, thus having a staging area.

SYSTEM 9.2 PLANNING ERROR when trying to connect through web client

Hi , I have created a Planning application on system 9.2version. Whwn i try to access it it gives an error and comesout.However i am able to log into application and refresh databaseusing planning desktop. I do not want to use externalauthentication. So i have bot given CSS url path in Planning CSSpath. When i give the defaul URL path Like Http:// HSS Server:58080/interop/framework/getCSSConfigfile it gives an error that user does not exist and comes out.After that i created user in HSS . But then the error came thatit's " failed to sync provisioning". I am not sure if we could add planning application into HSSwithout logging into planning web client?? Is ther any way we canadd planning application into HSS without logging into planning webclinet? Any help on this would be of great help as i have wasted 2 dayson this. 

Hey azmat thnx for replying but this is not the issue. I hadgenerated properties file (HSP,ESSBASE,HBR)..Infact the applicationname is coming ths drop down list of application on log on webpage... I guess there is some bug with 9.2.0.1 release ..it'sgiving an error in even viewer that could not retrieve version ofhyperion planning ....Anyway i have reverted back to planning 4.0.5release ..i guess i would try to upgrade when system 9.3 releasewould be available...

Change the data source connection of existing reports in web analysis

I have developed certain reports in web analysis 9.3.1, now I need to point these reports to a new cube with same layout. Can anyone let me know how to change this data source. There are lot many reports so it will take lot of time for me to recreate them.

You can edit the Database connection from Web Analysis. Perform the below tasks to edit the database connection..
1) Login to Web Analysis
2) Select the Database Connection which needs to be modified.
3) Right Click then Edit..

Connecting to SQLserver 2005 via Web Analysis using a JDBC driver

We are currently working on a web analysis suite and have been trying to create a SQL spreadsheet data object.
After downloading and supposedly installing the sqljdbc.jar driver, we are having problems getting a connection to MS SQL server 2005.
We set the classpath to this driver in the operating system (Windows server 2003) but are unsure exactly how to set this classpath in Tomcat 5.0.28 as recommended by the help file. We have tried editing the catalina.bat and catalina.50.bat in the \Hyperion\common\appServers\Tomcat\5.0.28\bin folder to point to sqljdbc.jar, but to no avail.
So....does anyone have any experience on setting up the JDBC driver for MSSQLServer 2005 and making a connection in Web Analysis. Could you please give a step by step account of how this is done?

In the past I have used two methods either updating the registry for the web application or by placing the jar file in the following directory
\Hyperion\deployments\Tomcat5\WebAnalysis\webapps\WebAnalysis\WEB-INF\lib
If you do place it in that directory you will need to restart the web analysis web server.
Then in web analysis studio go to file > new > database connection >Relational
Select Microsoft SQL Server
JDBC Driver
com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver
Connection string
jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://<servername>:1433;DatabaseName=<dbname>;SelectMethod=cursor
Enter username/password
There is always the Merant SQL server connection that can be used as well.

Freeze Spreadsheet header in Web Analysis Report (HTML format)

Hello,
I want to know if there is any way to freeze the spreadsheet header in Web Analysis. I know it can be done if the report is opened through Web Analysis Studio. However, when the user opens it in HTML format, the header will not be freeze.

I don't believe you can do this. We ran into the same issue last summer and it left our long scrolling dashboards useless as you couldn't see what row you were looking at once the row headers had left the screen. We talked about having some dashboards launch from workspace and others from Web Analysis but this was messy and we wanted them to one-stop shop in Workspace.
The answer for us was to put a Check Box on the right hand side and the users only select the amount of members that fill up their screen. For instance, if we had 20 columns of data (accounts or scenarios) and only 5 were visible at one time, they would only select 5 to view at any given time.
As far as column headers, we haven't had any complaints when those leave the screen.
This was a huge issue for us but luckily we came up with a workaround that seems to have worked for all of our users thus far.

Web Analysis Essbase connection

Hi all,
I have an already created Web Analysis Essbase connection and I want to change the Essbase server for the connection. If I go to Workspace->Explore, then Tools->Manage Database Connections, I can only see the Reporting connections in order to edit them. How do I edit the properties of Web Analysis connections?

You can edit them through WA studio, depends on where you saved the db connections, usually in the databases folder, right click the connection and edit.

Unable to open web analysis reports through workspace

Hi,
I am connecting web analysis with MSSQL server 2000 and generating reports. I am using essbase 9.3.1 version.
But my problem now is that I can just open these reports from web analysis studio and cannot open them from workspace. In workspace, if I right click on the report and open it from web analysis studio it does open. But it does not open by double clicking the report in workspace. It just shows a blank report on just parts of the report.
The issue is only there for the reports that are getting data from relational db (MSSQL server 2000). The other reports that are using the cube data are fine and opening from everywhere.
Are there any other configuration settings involved in order to open a web analysis report(that uses relational db) from workspace?

Try using the in built config checker:

This has several tests you can perform to see what's running.

What I need is a wsdl file to connect the form to database. For this purpose, is there any WSDL code to use as the web service?

I have couple of web analysis reports and the issue is i have copied this web analysis server to another server
where i have the same application. Now iam trying to append those database connection properties of the file to
point to the new server.
I have altered by selecting the user>database>select database>rightclick>edit>changed properties
But when i open the report it popping out with my old server details.
Does any one have idea about how to change database properties for a report.

Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/mysql/mysql.sock'

I'm using the pre-installed versions of php and mysql under Mac OS X Server 10.4.4 running on a G4 and am unable to get anything involving mysql to work.
I ssh to the server and enter various commands in Terminal:
on typing "mysql" I get
ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)
and on typing "mysqladmin version" I get

I'm trying to get a bug database running (mantis) under Mac OS X Server 10.4.4 that I can access from local clients.
I'm trying to follow directions at http://www.mantisbugtracker.com/manual/manual.installation.php
without knowing anything about mysql or php and I'm stuck on step 3:
"Next we will create the necessary database tables and a basic configuration
file."
I get a message saying
"Does administrative user have access to the database? ( Lost connection to MySQL server during query )"
I don't even know if following the mantis directions has resulted in the creation of a database or not. Where would it be?

I've just done a clean install of OSX Server and added the latest MYSQL packaged installer. Afterwards I found the lock file in /private/tmp/mysql.lock
The easiest way to solve this problem is to create a symbolic link so that the lock file appears to be in right place.
e.g.
cd /var
sudo mkdir mysql <== this assumes the directory is missing
cd mysql
sudo ln -s /private/tmp/mysql.sock mysql.sock
After this msql commands should work fine, and you've not fiddled with the security settings on users/groups.

After an unscheduled server reboot with DS up and running when trying to start a job in either Data Services Management Console or DS Designer getting the following:
"Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock'"
The mysql.sock have never been in /tmp and on the production server it does not exist there and the production server is up and running correctly. If a link is created to mysql.sock(/home/user/boedge31/bobje/mysql) the job will start but return this message:
"Cannot retrieve <Version> from the repository. Additional database information: <SQL submitted to ODBC data source <localrepo> resulted in error <MySQL ODBC 3.51 Driver mysqld-5.0.46-enterprise No database selected>. The SQL submitted is <select VERSION, SECURITYKEY, GUID from AL_VERSION where NAME = 'Repository Version'"
I checked and AL_VERSION and the Version field exist.
Before the shut down DS was working correctly and had no issues. My best guess is a part of the repository was corrupted during the unscheduled shut down. It seems like DS has "forgotten" some of the settings.
Any suggestions on a possible solution?

The issue has been solved.
There was a bad path in $LD_LIBRARY_PATH.
Removed the path and DS started working again.

Drill-Through Error Smart View And Web Analysis
