Non-"primary line" backup assistant management

how do you manage a non-primary line's backup assistant from the web?  seems like the only capability is to manage the primary line's contacts.  i have 5 lines and want to manage contacts on the other 4 phones.

You need to create a MyVerizon account for EACH of the lines; they will each have their own log in and password. Secondary lines will not see any billing information, but they will be able to manage backup assistant for the phone associated with that number.
Creating the accounts will take a bit of time initially, but backups can be automatic and once they are set up, it makes upgrading or swapping phones much easier.
If you get the message that the number is already registered, you'll need to log totally out of Verizon and possibly clear cookies before trying to register with each secondary number.

  • Backup Assistant for 2nd line?

The Backup Assistant page in My Services (on the Verizon Wireless website) only shows my primary number's address book for the Backup Assistant - how can I get this to look at my secondary line?  I just downloaded the app to this 2nd phone, and would like to use it.  Thanks.

You need to log out of MyVerizon entirely, and then register for a 2nd account using the second number. Each line needs to have it's own log in to access Backup manager.
If you enter the second number and it says it's already registered, then you need to clear your cookies and totally log out before trying to log in again.

  • Backup Assistant, Multiple Lines...

For some reason no matter how i log in or try to access it when i go to the backup assistant website all i get is one of our lines, and not the one that i want to manage the contacts for.
How in the world do you select the other lines to manage their contacts as well?  There is no way to change it on the page that i can find, really annoying!
I have been trying to work this out for a couple months now, called and emailed verizon they were no help!

It's simple. You need to create a "My Verizon" account for each line. BA can only be viewed for the line in which you are logged in to My Verizon. One line per login.

  • Backup Assistant with more than one line?

I am part of a family plan, two lines have a backup assistant setup, however when I try to look online for the stuff that is backed up on VerizonWireless it shows neither. All it does it show me an option of adding an email address, and for contacts laughs it off with "We will do the work for you."
I don't need the email portion. I just want to view the contacts, and no matter how many times I tell the application on both of the phones to do so, it never shows up on verizon online.
It even tells me in the application to go to verizonwireless.com/backupassitant to view the contacts...Yes...I would like to do that please.
    Thank You.
Was resolved, apparently I need seperate myverizon accounts to have different backup assistant stuff.

I have an iPhone and want a second line for someone
with a regular phone. AT&T doesn't make the cost of
this very clear on their site, and there is no phone
number to call to ask. Does anybody know?
Adding a line will cost you 9.99 per month, probably a $26.00 in actiavtion fees if your iphone is the main line.
you can call 1800 331 0500 customer care.

  • Have LG Extravert with Backup Assistant but can't access BA online to manage contacts

I have backed up my contacts on the ol' phone, hoping to print them and/or import into my contacts on the Mac (and ultimately sinc the new iPhone to the Mac).  Can not for the life of me find the Manage Contacts online from which to print/import.  Keep getting into a cyclical loop opening new windows and trying to get me to sign up for Verizon Cloud, something I don't need and certainly not something that is getting me to the contacts I need to see.  Trying to call in for help and after long waits on hold, getting dropped, and getting texts that ask me to call a number....and that number wants to sell me Verizon equipment.  Sooo irritating!  Where is the Backup Assistant list of contacts -- that's all I need and it seems to be allusive for me and others looking for the same thing.

BackupAssistant is here:  My Verizon Online Sign In - Verizon Wireless

  • Editing contacts in Backup Assistant

I have 2 phones on my account.  Backup Assistant defaults to the primary line.  There must be a way to change to the secondary line to edit contacts on that line but i haven't found it.  Any suggestions?
    Thanks - Ron

You will need to set up a seperate MyVerizon account for the second line to manage Backup Assistant for that phone.  Go to the MyVerizon login page and click the link to create a new account and use that phone's number.  The account will have limited access to account information (the total bill and that line's usage), and be able to manage BA and any media purchases for that line.

  • Backup Assistant: Online or not?

My husband and I recently upgraded our phones, which included Backup Assistant.  My phone says "to manage contacts, go to verizonwireless/backupassistant etc.".  But when I go there, I find it's only for the primary account holder's phone.  Mine is an additional line.
So, why does my phone say to go to the website to manage contacts when it seems I can't do that?

To register so you can sign in to your back up assistance, you will need to visit our website at the link below.

  • Upgraded primary line, phone not connected yet, want to use phone on 2nd line instead

I renewed my primary line (new every 2) and received a Convoy today. My husband doesn't want to use this phone and wants to stick with the Boulder which is the current phone on the primary line. How can I activate the new phone for my secondary line (which is on a month to month basis ie no contract basis, but not a prepaid phone)? A Verizon support person told me I could do this if we didn't want to use the Convoy on the primary line. I hope she was right.
    Thanks!

She would have been correct. If you dial 1-877-807-4646, punch in your husband's number when it requests it (it may request the account's password/last 4 of SSN as well). There will be an automated system that will ask you to accept the Terms & Conditions for the upgrade that was done on your husband's line. Note: this will extend the contract on your husband's line by 2 yrs which is a result of you getting the new phone at discounted pricing, but it will not effect your line's contract at all. Once you say you agree (by pressing option 1) it will ask if you would like to activate this device on your husband's line now. You're going to choose the option to do it later meaning you will not be activating it on your husband's line. Once it confirms your selection, you will hang up.
Before you activate the phone on your line, make sure your contacts are backed up from your previous phone so you can transfer them to the new one. Backup Assistant, a free app offered by BUA, will be excellent for this purpose. Once everything is backed up, you will first want to turn off your old phone and then dial *228 from the new phone (choose option 1). When it asks for you to input a number, you want to enter yours and then it will ask you to enter the account's password/last 4 of SSN. Afterwards it will activate the new phone on your line. You would just need to re-download BUA and follow the prompts to transfer the contacts. Then you'll be all set!

  • Backup assistant:  Cannot find online contact list for 2ndary phone

My wife and I have LG8360's - flip phones - and I have the secondary line. I used backup assistant to back up our contact lists.  I can find her's but not mine.  Is there a trick at log in that I need to do?  We are ditching these and going to smartphones so I would like to get this figured out.
    Thanks!

If you haven't already done so, you need to create a separate log in for the secondary number. Completely log out of the account for the primary number.
Then click on REGISTER, and put in the secondary number; create a username and password for that number - and you should be good to go. If it tells you the # is already registered, then you are not completely logged out of the primary account.
Each number needs to have it's own log in to MyVerizon for Backup Assistant, and the Media Store for ringtones, etc.

  • Backup Assistant showing no contacts online

I have a Samsung Intensity (Flamingo Red) and have been using backup assistant regularly. Today I wanted to look to see what the contacts looked like online, but I didn't see any.
I upgraded to Backup Assistant Plus (free version), forced a backup from my phone, and looked again. No contacts online.
My phone is listed as supported.
Do I need to do something else before I can see it?

MM1772, you should certainly be able to see your contacts backed up online, so I want to assist to make sure this is working. First, make sure you are logging into My Verizon with your own mobile number or username. If a different line is setup as the primary line online, you'll only be able to see the contacts from that line. You'll need to make sure your line is registered. Next, sometimes after syncing, you may need to log out and back in for the contacts to update. Are you receiving any errors when trying to view your contacts?
Let me know if you need further assistance with viewing your contacts online.

  • Forgot my pin number for Backup Assistant

It has been quite a while since I downloaded the backup assistant app for my Samsung Gusto mobile phone and I have forgotten my PIN number and I am unable to retrieve it by pressing the # sign as directed....Nothing happens and every time I open my phone it says invalid pin number. It is very frustrating. Can anyone help?
    Thanks, Mike.

Can't be more specific than what I gave ya, sorry.  For the Backup Assistant accounts that I have, if I log into those lines' MyVerizon accounts and click Manage Contacts, I see a gray View PIN button in the upper right-hand corner.  When I click on that, I get a pop-up with the PIN number.  You may have to contact Customer Service and see if they can figure it out; good luck.

  • Backup Assistant verses Sync and Connect

The new Sync and Connect service looks neat, however, both of the lines on my account doesn't need the GMAIL, Yahoo, etc., integration. For my line, I have all my third party emails set to forward over to my MobileMe account, and on my mother's line, she doesn't have a data plan.
So do we really need to switch over to Sync and Connect, or should we just stay on Backup Assistant?
    Thanks!

Thanks for the info! I'll probably just use Backup Assistant since I have all my other emails forwarded to MobileMe, so it seems I don't need Sync and Connect. Nice included service though for those that manage multiple inboxes though! I'll sure recommend it to friends!

As indicated by SuzyQ (thank you!), the Sync and Connect is a feature that works with Smartphones. This feature allows you to Synchronize your Google™, Gmail™, Yahoo!® Mail, AOL and Microsoft® Windows Live® Hotmail® email accounts with your Verizon Wireless Sync & Connect capable Smart-phone and My Verizon website. • Backup Assistant - I am posting as a new item as this issue is shown as resolved and it is not.

I just got my second LG Cosmo 2 phone device and am having the same problem noted by others.  I was told by a customer service rep to take my first phone back to a local store and exchange as the backup assistant problem I am having will be resolved.  Well it did not resolve...read on.  The first time I go to use the phone in the morning Backup Assistant is checking if changes to my directory have occurred.  You have to unlock the phone to let it complete or you hit end to cancel the update.  I have worked with customer service to fix the problem with no success.  We have deleted backup assistant, which apparently re-installs automatically when you access "Apps".  One customer service agent told me to change my schedule from midnight to some other time in the day as sometimes the Verizon systems are not available from midnight to 6 am.  I am totally frustrated with this annoying issue every morning and especially if you are in a hurry to answer or make a call.  Seems to me  the backup assistant application could have a schedule option of "off" or "manual" so that this problem goes away.  Let the phone user determine how they want to manage their directory backups.  I've been in the software business for over 30 years and backup assistant is just poorly designed and it is proven by the numerous complaints similar to mine.  It would be so simple to fix with a software update and stop a lot of wasted time in this forum or unnecessary calls to customer reps.  It anyone has a solution please let me know. Thank you much.

    Hi gmeyerco,
I know how frustrating it can be to have Backup Assistant connect randomly.  The next step I would take would be to uninstall the application and reinstall it.  Please follow these steps to uninstall/reinstall:
    To Uninstall:
    Press Menu
    PressMediaCenter
    Press Browse and Download
    Highlight Backup Assistant
Choose options on the bottom left
    Choose Cancel Subscription
    To Reinstall:
    Press Menu
    PressMediaCenter
    Press Browse and Download
    Press Backup Assistant
    Choose Free Subscription
Then follow the steps for installation and set up.
I am certain this step will resolve your issue, please reach out to us if the steps do not resolve your concern and we will certainly continue with trouble shooting.
    Thanks,

  • How to Delete Non-System State Backups in Windows 2008R2

    Hello,
I am running a Windows 2008R2 server which uses Windows Server Backup to do the backups. We are using the backup-tool to create non-system state backups of the data-directories on this machine. The backup is done on a dedicated disk connected through iscsi
(to a Synology box). This backup disk has become too small and we have now replaced the Synology box with a bigger one. Here i created a new LUN again for the backup purposes.
Now for my question; The wbadmin.exe tool supplied with W2008R2 does not offer a way to delete the old backups. I know that in Win2012 (which we we also have running) I could add the new iscsi location and then (when enough backups are available on the new
target) use wbadmin.exe delete backup  to delete the old non-system state backups; e.g.
     wbadmin delete backup -version:08/07/2013-21:00
This (very undocumented) feature of Windows 2012 and higher works quite nice and is exactly what i am searching for on the W2008R2 machine; a way to delete the old backups (and under the hood delete the corresponding snapshots)
I've done quite a bit of research and it should be possible to do something similar in 2008 but then manually, The howto is described in the following link: http://blogs.technet.com/b/filecab/archive/2009/06/22/backup-version-and-space-management-in-windows-server-backup.aspx .
Basically it describes that you should use DiskShadow.exe to remove e.g. the oldest snapshot with a  command like :
    Delete shadows OLDEST \\?\Volume{7fc1871b-2e1f-11dd-a339-001e4fb7af35}
Windows Server backup (wbadmin) should then on the next run 'see' this deletion and update its list of available backups:
"You can perform the same steps manually to delete backups on demand. However, the backup catalog update cannot be done manually and it will happen instead during
    the next backup."
I've done this on our box and it indeed removes the shadows from the list. However, in the Windows Backup 'dashboard' it still lists the backups as available. Also after a new backup has finished (according the the article this is when it should 'update'
    its backup catalog). When I try to restore a backup from a date that i just removed it gives a nice message that this is impossible because the snapshot is not available (duh :)) ;
Unable to browse Local disk. The shadow copy of the backup stored on the backup destination cannot be found.
So it seems that the aforementioned method works; it removes the snapshot and frees diskspace, but it doesn't update the Windows Backup catalog. As a result the management tool (GUI) still lists the backups which are no longer available! How can i change
this? Is there any way to do this? I found one article which mentions that the Dashboard bases its screen on the Windows Logs and not on the actual VSS snapshots available:
http://forum.wegotserved.com/index.php/topic/23757-start-afresh-with-server-backup/ (WHS) In my situation however this seems unlikely because i don't have any logs that date back as far as my backups go.
In my opinion this is a real bug and it leaves us with a in-consequent backup schema. Does anyone have similar situations or even a solution to my problem?
    Kind Regard, Martin

    Hi Mandy,
Yes! I think i got my answer and I now get how windows backup works in Windows 2008 :-) It turns out that I dismissed some suggestions a bit too soon. The answer lies in the command mentioned earlier :
    Wbadmin delete catalog
This command does delete all the backups from a perspective of the Windows Backup UI, but leaves the VSS snapshots intact. This means that the backups are still available, but you just can't restore them with the User Interface. In order to 'update' the
UI with the current available snapshots (which you can list with diskshadows list shadows all), you have to re-add the existing media on which the backups took place using the Wizard of the UI. It will then inform you that existing backups are available and
if you want to keep these for restore purposes. If you click 'yes', and THEN perform a backup ... All the current available backups will be shown in the User Interface :-)
So for my steps taken to change from one iscsi (iscsi1) to another (iscsi2):
    - Add the 2nd iscsi target with the Windows Backup UI
using Backup schedule , Modify backup -> [desired options] => Add more backup destinations -> iscsi2
    - Remove the 1st iscsi target with the Windows Backup UI
using Backup schedule , Modify backup -> [desired options] => Remove current backup destinations -> iscsi1
    - Run some backups on the new destination. Old restore points are now still available. When enough restore points are available on the new volume iscsi2 start deleting old data from iscsi1 as follows:
    - Run diskshadow
    diskshadow
    - list all the current snapshots
    list shadows all
    - remove all the snapshots of iscsi1  (repeat until all shadows are gone of iscsi1)
    delete shadows oldest \\?\volume{yourvolumeid}\
    - delete the windows backup catalog
    wbadmin delete catalog
    - Restart the windows backup UI and re-add your schedule on the new volume iscsi2. It will now ask if you want the keep the existing data for restore purposes; click yes.
    - After the next backup only the backups of volume iscsi2 will be listed and everything is fine !
I Hope my post will help others with similar questions. It was quite a search before I understood the way it works. Basically as long as your VSS snapshots are still available and listed by diskshadow you still have the backups and you will be able to get
this in sync with the steps above (delete schedule and re-add originating targets containing the snapshots). After the next backup the UI will update itself.
(In my case someway along the way I lost my originating snapshots, but because I already had my new backup set it didn't bother me; It kept me from having to delete all 510 old backups :) with diskshadow)
    Regard, Martin

  • How can I restore contacts from Backup Assistant

My contact list has been corrupted. I have been using Backup Assistant for some time and want to restore my contacts from a previous backup.
Verizon seems to have changed BA since the last time I used it and the only function seems to be to take my corrupted contact list from my phone and store it.  Any suggestions on recovering my non-corrupted contact list?

Here is a reply from a VW CS regarding the same question a few months back:
Click this link Backup Assistant (sign in) to check if contacts are available. You may sync directly from the site, by simply clicking sync on the right hand side (above contacts).
You may also try to sync by adding your G-mail account to the your device then go to Settings > Accounts & Sync > Ensure Sync is on for G-mail account. You may also select Auto-sync.
