N8/Anna Latest Social App Problems

1) Social App will constantly connect to the internet (usually staying connected for 20-30 seconds), disconnect and reconnect - even when the app is closed - regardless of whether I am near to a known WLAN or not. With Social closed even if I manually disconnect the connection it will automatically and instantly open a new connection.
I did a 5min test to watch how much my phone downloaded (with no apps open - when it should not have connected at all) and it came to 235kb. Over the course of a full month this would be just over 2gig!!
The only way I can get around this is to log out of the social networks completely - but this means I have to add my passwords any time I want to check my social.
Before you ask - widgets are set to offline mode, no other programs are running (including push-mail).
2) Sloooooow!
Anyone else had the same? Anyone know of any decent alternative apps which would work? I've checked the Ovi Store and nothing is jumping out at me.

If you don't mind paying £1.50 you could try Fmobi available in the Ovi store. It has received some very good feedback from those that are using it.

NOKIA SOCIAL APP NOT WORKING

Hello i have a NOKIA 500 BELLE and i resantly upgraded the NOKIA 500 BELLE to the NOKIA 500 BELLE REFRESH and its working very well but today i took a photo and it was stored in the gallery i went into the gallery and tapped on the photo i just took then went to the icon that lets me share the photo in my social networks i left a caption and tapped on share then the NOKIA SOCIAL APP appears and i get a message saying UNABLE TO START so now i can not share my photos on my social networks. I there any way i can delet it from my mobile and then reinstall it again or is there a other way i can correct it? Regards Leslie.

Right, like I'm trying to say, THERE IS NO SAFARI MENU bar. Example: I have multiple applications open, I click on a Photoshop window, the correct menu or title bar or whatever changes. Every other application window I click on brings up the correct "whatever" bar. If I click on the desktop, the "Finder Bar" shows up.
Everythiing else, BUT SAFARI, works the same way since OS X came out. This is ridiculous.
I'm getting the vibe that Apple is trying to get rid of the finder.... this is the way wrong direction.

N8: Problem social app

I´ve got a problem with the social app on my N8. The widget on the startscreen is updating but when I click on it to open the app I get a scriptwarning. I´ve reinstalled the firmware thru Ovi Suite and thru the phone but the problem is still there.
Anyone who understand what I meen and have a way to solve it....................

How do I get Social App to work again on N8 Anna

Stopped loading 3 weeks ago, have tried uninstalling and reinstalling via Ovi and it still won't load. Any ideas Thanks

WEB TV is a third party service hence not Nokia responsibility. Mine vanished after the firmware update, but there are some still at OVI STORE you can download.
If, in any moment, you did the three-finger reboot, there is no way to restore normal applications without taking your phone to Nokia Care Point.
If not, there still a small chance of your phone, somehow in its existence, crashed some QT files by installing some third party applications. So, be sure you have not installed anything outside Nokia OVI Store. If you did, nokia care point only to save it.
If it is not the issue, locate the Nokia.Mobi on your browser and install your social app from there. It is the only option you can use when OVI Store is not working. You can also reinstall OVI Store from there and your WEB TV apps.
Try it on and remember to reboot your phone on every install.

N8 Social App Err-Script Alert

Of late im getting Script Alert while logging to Social App for Facebook.

I too have this problem suddenly this weekend. Have been running my N8 for several months without this kinda problems. Have done nothing special and all of a sudden got the script error of 'uninstalling .. re-install'. Re-installing it with 'SW Update' only works when manually removing 'Social' AND 'Social Installer' (in dutch the latter is something like 'Inst.Social ..'). This will install version 1.2.163. But this still leads to the script error.
Other solutions include manually installing "Social+Apps.zip", with intermediate reboots. This will install version 1.2.144 first and then 1.3.143. I have done this with all sorts of combinations with(out) reboots, but none of this helps.
Installing 'Social' via Ovi-store of now, will result in the latest version (with an 'Anna' alike icon) 1.3.215. However this one also doesn't work anymore in this case. It will just give a script-alert like 'plug-in not loaded .. resuming in demo mode'.
Searching on the net for solutiond, this one with the Factory reset (incl. delete data!) is the only one that seems to work .. but only when you don't restore your backup. I have read about someone who done this and it keeps working, but perhaps this person has done a partial restore? Don't know. Anyway, I had recently backuped all my things. I did remove the 'Social' app (and some dutch app called 'Buienradar' also - this one has given me black screens ever since) So my backup was quite clean. I did the 'Factory reset' plus 'Delete data' which gives an initial clean N8. After this even the latest version of 'Social' (1.3.215) works like a charm. And also my ducth app 'Buienradar' worked normally again. But .. after restoring my backup the problem is back...
So it didn't solve anything for me ( And on the bad side, I also lost all my conversations from 'Whatsapp' during this backup/restore (wihich is weird on it's own also).. ( But anyway, perhaps someone has some other ideas on this? Perhaps a restore without 'application settings'? I don't know. Have spent soooo many hours on this stupid issue already, so I would very much like to have a working solution, please.

Nokia N8 Social App crashing

Recently everything was working fine including after updating to the latest version of social whatever version that was. Today i wanted to link some contacts with facebook account tried going into social and it kept crashing. At first it was just a white screen with back button and menu/action button on the bottom. After several uninstall re install uninstall and re install from computer, the "Welcome to Social" screen shows for about a second and then crashes. I really don't want to reset everything and start again, as my contacts synced to gmail servers and last time i restored it it duplicated everything in my contacts, it is a real pain.Any one else having this problem? how can i fix this?...
side note might not be related i use to have this application called prayer times now its starting to show a white screen this was synonymous with the social app.

I have had the same problem, always having to enter my password. Solution: don't log out; instead, just exit (from the bottom right).

The 'Social' app (pre-installed) on nokia 701 stop...

Suddenly the 'social' app on my nokia 701 has stopped working.
It says "sorry, please uninstall and reinstall Social".
I don't know where to download it form, if I uninstall it.
Can someone give me a solution?

Can someone please tell me if the 'Social' app has been scrapped from the nokia ovi store?
I'm not able to find it by even searching for it.

The latest version of 'Store' seems to be buggy. Update was not much of a help, rather a bother.

Social App not updating Feeds (N8)

Hi,
I've just updated my N8 to Anna and the Social app (1.3.237), entered my FB user details and can logon fine and post onto my Wall.
Problem is that I can't update Friends walls, I view their profile and 'Refresh Feed' but I'm seeing very old comments, June is the last one... but I know they have more recent ones as I see them using FB on my desktop.
I have tried removing my account and entering again, no joy. I have also uninstalled Social and setup all again, but no joy.
Anyone having a similar problem or have any more suggestions to fix this?

Try Fascinate available for free from Nokia store. It's a fully functioning Facebook client with a home screen widget. Much better than Nokia's useless Social app.

Apple TV2 Just Disappeared from Remote app on iPad and iPhone after latest Remote app update

I Have used Remote app on my iPad and iPhones to control my ATV1, ATV2, and ATV3 for years. After the latest Remote app update ATV2 has disappeared from tRemote, and I can no longer find a way to connect it. Any advice about this?

Brilliant. Restarting did the job, and all is well. Since I have recommended this to others with other ATV problems, I'm a bit embarrassed that I didn't try it myself at the outset, and would probably have come around to trying it later, but you saved me some time. Thanks.

Office Web Apps Server 2013 - Word Web App - Problem with Tab space

Hello We have Office Web Apps Server 2013 running with SharePoint 2013. Users Editing a Word document with Office Web Apps, can't use "Tabs", any Word document with Tabs; the tabs are replaced with a single space.
Has anyone noticed this? Is this a bug?

Social App not working even after update from noki...

nokia n8 social loading feeds.
My wife and i have the same problem now, only last week she said my phone will not work on facebook the widget on main home screen will not load feeds at all, and the widget is now blank saying refresh all the time, so i linked the phone up to the computer and did a scan for new updates with nokia updater which you can download from nokia site.
Its now the 4th jan and the phones still will not work even after and update from a socail app,
nothing , facebook will load after a few pushes, and looks like its loading till it says loading feeds then it says the (wording unable to load news feeds)

Uninstall the social app and reboot your phone. Then go to software updates and reinstall from the offering given in the updates. I've uninstalled and reinstalled social twice and it has worked both times.

What do you mean by reboot? Do you mean restore? Because if you haven't restored, then that's the next step. You'll need a computer with the latest version of iTunes and a USB connector.
