N97-Application is incompatible, continue anyway?

hello, i did a factory reset after installing the new firmware & all of a sudden the device seems to act a lot faster and better. It had issues after the update, but i formatted the whole device (first the memory card, second the mass memory, and third the c: ) and it seems to be workin a lot better. However, the inbuilt themes look dull. I went to www.mibile9.com and downloaded a couple of s60v5 themes. While installing, i get a warning, 'application is incompatible with this device. Continue anyway?' would it be safe to install these? I know they're not viruses because a friend installed them on his 5800XM with no problems. I'm wonderin if installing an 'incompatible' theme would make my N97 suck again. I've got another question. As far as i know, the 5800XM and the N97 use the same OS. The themes installed fine on my friend's XM, with no warnings (other than application is untrusted). Why am i receivin the incompatible warning on the N97 then?

Its not a problem it means that the app has not been passed by Nokia/Symbian for use on that phone

Similar problem just happened to me with the Creative Cloud Update 1.7.1.418—slightly different so I thought I'd share. I have multiple Adobe Creative Cloud programs installed on my computer, all working just fine. I updated the Cloud App to the latest version and then it shows me that I have only one program installed! All my previously installed programs (Photoshop and the like) still work but show as "install" instead of "Up to date". Initially I thought I'd have to re-install the Cloud app or recreate the OPM data base but then I noticed that some of the Cloud app preferences (Apps > Settings > App Language) were different to what I had set previously. I use English (International) language, the update had reverted the app back to English (North American). I flicked back to my previous language and bam, all my apps now show as being installed correctly.

64-bit itunes version stops sync when optimizing on my 5 days old notepad LENOVO G570.
windows 7home premiun constantly closes itunes during this optimization.
When i did troubleshooting it said application is incompatible, but this is the version that is supposed to work with my system.

Yeah I am not disputing that it is doing what it is supposed to. I am just disputing that it is misleading. I think it should be very clear and state that this is a 32 bit version of iTunes specific for installing on 64 bit versions of Vista.

I keep getting a warning stating that the document could not be auto saved in pages. The file has been changed by another application. What in the heck does all that mean, and why are they trying to behave like a Windows product or a Microsoft office product. I just don't get it.
Why is another application changing my documents? It's like they've created a virus within their own programs. It's a pain in the neck and makes no sense.

I am also having the issue of a warning saying "could not be auto-saved in Pages. The file has been changed in another application. I then hit "save anyway", the warning will go away for a time, sometimes minutes, sometimes hourr, but then the warming reapprears saying the same thing. This is not the case with all Pages documents but it is the case with many.

N97 application manager issue- Nokia Bots???

Dear All,
I'm not able to view installed applications from the applications manager. The screen goes off for a few seconds and goes back to the root menu. This issue seems to have cropped up ever since i installed the Nokia Bots. Has anyone else experienced this?
Is there a way out to see the list of installed applications?

hello I don't have Nokia Bots installed, and yet have this exact same issue with app manager on my N97.
If I click on installed apps, it blanks out the screen for a moment, and then returns to the root menu of app manager.

That's a total of 80 + apps.
Could that be the problem? could installing lots of software (none pirated or cracked, I've paid for them) crash the OS?

N97 application problem on homescreeen

Hi,
First, i'm french, so it's possible that i've done mistakes in my mesages
I've got a N97, and on the home screen, i put some applications like ACCUWEATHER...
But on the screeen, there is only this message ( "loading content" )
I'm looking for anything to fix this probleme....
The applications works succesfully when i go in Applications, but on the Home screen, nothing, just this message !

I can't prove it conclusively, but I think it's got to with your connections and their grouping under Connectivity -> Destinations.
Try to have your most wanted (most used) Destination as Priority 1. That Destination should also be in your Internet group and that should be your default gourp.
Once you've set that and using that connection, reinstall that app. Obviously, make sure your home screen is allowed to be online.
I think the problem is the widget (not the app) only knows to use the Priority 1 in your default group. If that connection isn't working the first time after you installed it, it just won't work and doesn't know to try other connections.

Signing my application in a Continuous build/integration system

I have a Mac OS X app and I recently obtained a digital certificate (Developer ID Application) to sign this app. I have the following questions about signing this app -
Can I specify a particular certificate as an input to codesign so that it is not installed in keychain? So that in my environment (Continuous build/integration system), any available Mac could be used to sign my app?
If not, then can I install/uninstall a certificate in keychain on a machine on the fly?

N97 Application Problem

Hello Guys,
Yesterday I upgraded my N97 to the latest firmware.After upgrading I have noticed that my games list is empty.When I go to my Games section it displays "Empty".The only game I have in N97 is Guitar Rock God or something like that.But when I go to the Applications I can see that game in there.So the thing I want to know is how to put that game back to the Games list.I'm pretty much new to N97 so I dont wanna screw anything up by doing experiments.So please help me

I think I understand what you're asking, basically you want to move the application icon for the game from the applications area to the games area.
If so navigate to the Applications area then from "Options" (bottom lefthand corner) select "Organize", select the icon that you want to move and then from "Options" select "Move to folder", then select "Games" folder, finally press "Done"
Options>Organize> {Select Icon} Options>Move to folder>Games folder>Done

N97 Application mngr & Themes issue. ..

hello guys ,
I Have Themes installed in E Memory , when I go to Application Manager to un-install them they're not there & they dont show !! but they're still in the Themes select option menu.
i Cant Format the whole E memory just to get rid of some themes !! ... anyone else facing this issue ? any solutions ?

Connect the phone to a computer in mass storage mode. If you're using Windows, make sure that hidden and system files are displayed.
Navigate to the drive that's mounted when you connect the phone and go to the private\10207114\import folder.
In there you will see a folder for each theme that's installed in your mass memory. In each folder there will be a .skn file. Open that file with a text editor and scan for the name of the theme that will appear in there.
Once you've located the theme(s) you want to delete, simply delete the folder under "import" containing the .skn, .mif and .mbm files.

N97: application updating problems

Hi. Have had my N97 for little over a month. In that time, the SW Update app offered the Nokia Messaging 10.1 and 10.2 updates, that were applied without any problems. However, now that the Ovi Maps 3.3 update is available, the updating process fails every time. Only thing I get is "Installation failed", with no further info as to the cause or how to remedy it.
In case this has a bearing, memory usage is:
Phone, 73MB total 39.6 used, 33.4 free
Mass: 29.8GB total, 749.3 MB used, 29.1 free
Memory card: 7.6 GB total, 18 MB used, 7.6 free

Memory reorganiser will download either Over The Air or via Ovi suite through software updates.
But best way to save space is to follow the many threads about saving space on C on the forum, save all apps to E, save all messages to E, delete and maove any app from C that you can and clear Privacy data on phone browser on a regular basis.......................

I check AAM in Activity Monitor. There's no AAM process. Who has any ideas of this issue? I manually download the install package. Run installer still pop up this kind of warning.

N97 Application extended menu

There are some programs on my N97 that only run with an extended menu. It has two buttons, arrow keys, and the letters A B C D at the bottom.
An example of an app that does this would be Gmail.
Is there any way to get rid of this menu?
Any help would be useful.

I find this extended menu is very useful when using the touchscreen only. How else would you be able to scroll and select.

N97 - Application for light/torch

Hi, I am looking for two things...
1) an application that allows a person to select different colours to flash on the screen, or one select colour... I have used something similar on an iphone, and by keeping the shutter open on a camera, and moving the phone, it comes out with some cool effects... The iphone app is called myLite Flashlight
2) an application that will turn the camera flash on permanantly, to use it as a torch.
Application doesn't need to be in one...

This procedure is complicated, but you probably won't have to do all of it.
Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried until the issue is resolved. Back up all data before making any changes.
Step 1
Check the status of the service. If it's down, wait tor it to come back up. There may be a localized outage, even if the status indicator is green.

Check that the date (including the year) and time shown by your system clock are correct.
Step 3
Restart your router and your broadband device, if they're separate.
Step 4
If you connect to the Internet through an HTTPS or SOCKS proxy server, follow the instructions in this support article, or deselect the proxy entirely.

Boot in safe mode and test.
Step 6
Make sure Parental Controls aren't active for your account.
Step 7
Follow the instructions in this support article to change your DNS settings. If there's no change, revert the settings.

If possible, test on a different network, such as a public Wi-Fi hotspot or the cellular network of your phone.
