Navigation Bar help

Hi Everyone,
I am pretty new to flash and have a lot to learn. I know how
to make a basic navigation bar but I want to make a navigation bar
with drop down menu's simular to the one on this website,
http://www.mchenrylasik.com.
I have been searching for the last few days trying to find a good
tutorial on how to do that and have had no luck.
Does anyone know of any good tutorials that do this? I have
Flash CS3. Thank you for your help :)

I see that I can remove title pages from the navigation. I also want to have those hidden titles appear when scrolled over.
Ex. www.imba.com
When you scroll over the "About IMBA" navigation button, 8 more navigation buttons are exposed.

Changing the navigation bar - help!

Hi,
I'm making my personal website with iWeb (using the "Modern" template as a base) and I would like to personalise the navigation bar. I have already managed to change the colours of the words modifying the xml file for the template, but I would like the Menu to start about one inch further to the right, because I want to put the logo on the left hand side.
I would also like to change the font size.
I’ve searched already on many forums everywhere and I haven’t found anything really useful.
Please, could anyone tell me exactly how to do this? I would need step-by-step instructions, because I’m not the “coder” type.
I hope you can help me. Thank you very much.

Navigation Bar Help [Need Help Please]

Well Hi guys I am pretty new to creating navigation bars and well my I got one of the internet I saved it when I viewed it locally nothing was wrong but when I upload it, on my site it doesnt work Please help I've uploaded the button images still confused :S

I'm not so sure that you have uploaded your SpryAssets directory for example. See e.g. there is no answer for
http://nmexhunterz.tk/SpryAssets/SpryMenuBarHorizontal.css.
Please control whether you have uploaded ALL your necessary files and directories.

Weird blank space above fixed navigation bar. help!?

Dear all,
Im a real no no in building websites, so this is already my fifth post in a week
And i have an issue again....
on my website: http://vinddit.nl/ you can see i made a fixed navigationbar. but you will see a blank space above it when you scoll down.
This is not what i want! I want the content behind it to not be visible.

Navigation Bar Link opening in a New page??

Hi,
In the navigation bar link , how do we make the link open in a new browser page ?
e.g:- The navigation bar "Help" is present whose target type is an URL sepecified to some valid URL but when the user clicks on "Help" the URL should open up in a new Browser Window..

My navigation bar disappeared so now I cannot print, edit, etc. How can I get it back. The info on your page does not help.

I may have accidentally hidden the navigation bar i.e. the one that gives you options like File, Edit, etc. the info you provide for getting it back does not help because it asks me to use those tabs, which are not there anymore. This prevents me from printing, etc.

Use either the Alt or F10 keys to temporarily display the menu. Then in the View menu select Toolbars, then "Menu Bar" to make it permanently display the menu.

Custom Navigation bar not working. Apple can't seem to help

After watching many videos on people customizing their Navigation bars on Iweb, I decided to do the same for my website. If you go to the home page of my site I can click on any link and have no problem. However, once I am off of the home page I cannot get any of the other links to work. I took my mac to the apple store and they showed me how to fix it. But it didn't help. Nor has there been any useful advice from calling their tech support. So if you have a custom made nav bar that works okay on the home page, but not on the other pages of your site, did you remember to go and hyperlink your nav bar on the other pages of your site and not just your home page, or did you forget?
That is one reason why they will not work, if you forgot to hyperlink - you either have to hyperlink first and then copy and paste or do each page individually - it is time consuming, but is the price you pay for having a custom nav menu.
A url would be nice so we can see what is going on.

Add Image in the navigation bar of Help page

Hi,
I wanted to add image next to to the Search in the Help page navigation bar as in snapshot below:
I wanted to add an image i.e the the logo next to above button in navigation bar. I tried adding , howevr could only add as Header, not right in the navigation pane. Correct me if I m wrong, the navigation control can be configured while generation web output. I coudnt find any other option to do this.
Please let me your inputs on this.

Sorry Colum, I think you are wrong. That looks exactly like a WebHelp Search dialog.
Pallavi, I am thinking the answer for you may be a simple one. Use the WebHelp skin editor. There you should see an option to choose the image used for the Go button.
I'm not exactly sure what version you are using. But I'll insert a screen capture of RoboHelp 7 below.
My thought here is that you could create an image that includes your company logo along with the Go button. Then use that image for the Go button. Sure, both the company logo as well as the Go button would be clickable, but it should do the job, no?

Hello, and thanks for your time. Im using Fireworks cs3 to make a navbar, but cant seem to get it to work. Im following this tutorial:

My problem is, Im trying to make 5 buttons in the navbar, utilising an up/over and down state. When I try to navigate with them, (Im not too advanced
either in ability or with the site itself) in a couple of test pages, my up and over states are fine, but the down state is not present, and, when I press the
back button and return to the page Ive just clicked out of..my down button is working...but in the previous page. Im trying to get this for a school
assignment and am hoping someone can put me right before I lose all my hair, thanks again.

EDIT: Well, finally got things to work. Needed to pay a bit more attention to detail and spent lots more time on this than I should have, but very happy with the result. I wasnt exporting "multiple files for use without frames" but once that glitch was ironed out all is well.

Yay for working menus, but a big round, "like that's clear!!" for the detail you needed to have checked. On the plus side, you probably won't ever forget this tidbit of information!

HELP/Problems with pull-down navigator bar

Hi everyone,
I was wondering if I could get some input. I have just
re-designed our magazine's site, www.easternsurf.com
I used Pop-Up menu function in Fireworks 8 to generate our
Navigator bar. For the most part everything has been working well,
BUT we've had a couple of complaints that the navigator bar's
pull-down menus get stuck behind the photos/banner ads/etc. instead
of in front of them when viewing in Internet Explorer. I'm on the
Mac platform (OSX Tiger/Macromedia Studio 8) and have seen no
problems viewing in Safari, Firefox and Netscape. The only
complaints have come from Internet Explorer users. A couple of
people updated their browser to the newest version and the problem
disappeared, however we've still had a couple of people that have
written in that the newest version of IE is still not displaying
properly.
Also we've got a strip of button ads running down the left
hand side of each page and I've also seen another issue that's
common on sites of this type...when the pulldown menu overlaps with
a Flash element, there is a problem with the screen re-draw. I've
seen this on several other sites and know it's a common problem,
but does anyone know of a workaround where this won't happen? I
just noticed that signing on to Adobe's site, there almost seems to
be a command where the menu keeps re-drawing at a very rapid rate
so this won't happen.
Any input would be greatly appreciated, although I'm Mac all
the way, we are a business and have to get this site visible for
everyone!

Please Perform a Battery Pull Restart like this While Device is Powered On remove the Battery wait for a min. then re-insert it back wait till the device take a long Reboot.And see if that helps.

In my experience, the code created by graphics apps is less than satisfactory. And image based menus are very awkward for several reasons.
#1 If you decide to change your menu later, you must go back to your graphics app and re-craft the whole thing. After 2-3 times of this, it gets old in a hurry.
#2 Image based menus cannot be "seen" by search engines, screen readers and language translators.
#3 CSS styled text menus are better for your site's visibility, accessibility and they are a snap to edit in Dreamweaver.
That said, if you're still married to image based menus, use Fireworks to create images only. Use Dreamweaver's Image Rollover Behaviors to create your rollover scripts.

how do i create a navigation bar. my dreamweaver help says a
nav bar has a up. down and over image but doesn't actually tell me
where to get this image or how to create it??
if this is going to be too complex i don't mind just having
my nav bars as text link but can't seem to spread my 7 links out

You and me both my friend! I just got off the phone with
"tech support" trying to pay for a single incident ($35) so they
could walk me through putting a navigation bar on my website. It's
so frustrting dealing with some of these techs. I don't want to be
politically incorrect here, but I always wind up with someone I can
hardly understand ( accent ). This stuff is hard enough to follow
with a language barrier. Then I called in to tech support, they
told me I had to pay that I was out of complitmentary assistance,
so they transferred me to sales, who after speaking to two more
people I had trouble understanding, I was transferred back to tech.
support who asked me if I had paid for a plan! Then she says she
can take the credit card etc., when I got through with that she
tells me that she can't walk me through putting the nav. bar
directly on my web site, that I'll have to open a new page and to a
sample one. ( which means when I finish I'll have to remember all
the steps and try to duplicate it on my own site. ( you know how
that goes! ) It's infuriating. I wound up spending an hour and got
nothing, they couldn't even just charge my card so I'd have credit
toward one call later. ( I had to go after dealing with this for 45
minutes)
Anyway, You have to go to Firefox or maybe photoshop to
create the background image. I did some in Firefox, but for the
page background, not the nav. bar. You would open a new page, put
in the size ( pixels ) you need, then use the rectangle tool to
outline that which selects it. Then you can go to the bottom of the
screen and select the color and gradient tool to create some cool
color effects. The thing I don't know is how to know exactly what
size your navigation bar is going to be ahead of time so to size it
right. I understand it has to be exact. This tech told me that they
can't help with any "design issues", like color, where it goes in
your website, etc. If they talk you through how to do it on a blank
page and then you have trouble on your real website, well that's
another issue and another $35. But I don't even understand if they
will help you on the real website. NIGHTMARE!!!!
