Hi ,i need a batch script which help me to findout a keyword like DEV in a text file which is stored in a windows server,it shud find out only the exact keyword like DEV,it shud not prefix with any characters like ADDDEVUSER it might contain as DEV01.

But this script is failing if the files are not present in the same folder.
So I am thinking to loop the statement to check if files are not there exit from the loop.
The script does not fail - it reports that no files are found. You can detect this like so:
if %ErrorLevel% NEQ 0 echo "There are no zip files!"
There is no loop in your script that you can exit from.

I have Installed 10.1.3.4.0 ---> selected "Oracle Data Integrator, Oracle Data Profiling, Oracle Data Quality 10.1.3.4.0" ---> Complete (1012MB)
- follow all steps of "Design a Name and Address Cleansing Project" section in Sample Tutorial
- in "Oracle DQ User Interface", right click Projects->Quality->customer master[1]
- select "Run" from the context menu
- the background tasks completed 100% properly
- export the project as a Batch Script
- make changes to config.txt, runProjectN.cmd, and *.stx files following as specified in the Sample Tutorial document
- at step 13-f, got the following errors by executing runProjectN.cmd

Solution:
Needs to modify "e9_tranfrmr_p3.stx" to point to "e6_nomatch_globrtr_p2_us.dat".

Seems to be the DRM service went down, try running the batch after stopping & restarting the service.

You have several scripting choices within Windows. At a basic level you've got "batch files" - which run a series of command interpreter commands, and have a file extension of .BAT or .CMD. If you just wanted to open a list of Word documents, then assuming that the path to Word is correct (something like this below) you could list these in a file with a .BAT extension and run this (e.g. double click on it):

Another script language is VBScript, which was the example I gave. VBScript is available on most Windows platforms and can be run from a command prompt or within Windows. If you save the text I gave you above to a file with a .VBS extension you can double-click to run it (Windows) or open a command prompt and type CSCRIPT MyVBScript.VBS (assuming that's the name of the your .VBS file).
Other script languages are available to achieve the same thing, including Powershell, however you'd need to have Powershell available on your PC.

Batch Script to display last modified file from multiple directories

I am trying to find the name of the latest file or the last modified file from a set of given directories.
I approached the problem by breaking it into two parts: a. read all the directories from a .txt file and display the names of those directories and files under those directories. b. Find the latest file present in any given directory and
Upto this point all worked well, but when I am trying to combine both these batch scripts, I am unable to get the desired result.
I am using BATCH SCRIPT only to complete this.

Since batch files lack the ability to do date arithmetic you are pushing them well beyond their limits. Either VBScript of PowerShell could handle this type of task. Here is a VBScript solution. You must save the code in a .vbs file, then modify it to suit
your exact needs.

OS Command batch script issue (FTP)

All,
I am running into a problem (i think it's simple) which I just can't seem to figure out. I have a FTP command which is in a batch script and I can run it manually (Its run in an old enviroment with Informatica) and the ftp script works just fine. When I use the OS Command to launch the bat file, it accesses the bat file but in the ftp log all I see it doing is copying the local directory into the first line of the log and then just copying the rest of the ftp script. It does nothing else!!
Does anyone have any ideas? I have copied the script and forced it into one bat file, tried running it from a local directory, running it from the server, combining everything into a single source for lcd and script, I am running out of ideas!!
- Another point is that I have to use this process as I am moving files from a server to a mainframe environment and need the ascii translate function in FTP.

Update:
After some searching (and soul searching;) ) I was able to find a way to call the FTP file through an shell batch. So for instance I have a shell script that calls the FTP script. This seems to work but now the log does not create correctly (the ftp script is creating the log) it seems to copy the script from the ftp file and paste it in the log file.

Using MaxL in batch script to get Essbase database size before proceeding

I have a batch script which dynamically generates some MaxL before passing it to ESSMSH. I would like to insert a command at the beginning of the MaxL script, to get and assess the size of the database before proceeding. If the database is empty I would like the script to quit. This is to prevent the script from exporting data and overwriting the previous export file if the database is empty.
The generated MaxL (modified) is currently as follows. What logic can I add to the MaxL script, to assess the database size and go to the "errorhandler" label if it is empty? Is this even possible?

Yes I was aware of display database "app"."db"; however this will output a table rather than a specific value. And what logic can I then add to the MaxL script to assess the specific value of "Db Status" and go to the "errorhandler" label if it is empty?
It would seem this needs to be done via a VBScript, to loop through the file rows to find the value before proceeding accordingly. But I was hoping there might be a way to do this within MaxL.

How to extract row_id from PL/SQL procedure and assign that to batch script

I am stuck with a requirement, wherein I am running a batch script and within the batch script I am calling a procedure which inserts a record in a table (Including a column named l_id).
I need this generated l_id to be passed on as a variable to batch script after PL/SQL procedure completion. So that I can refer this same l_id to update the same record in the table again in the same batch script in the later part.

Looking for some suggestions!!!!Don't do this using batch scripts. Batch scripts are very much inferior compared to stored PL/SQL code when it comes to managing databases processes and performing data crunching.
Why can't this be written entirely in PL/SQL? And execution managed from either DBMS_JOB or DBMS_SCHEDULER ? And before answering that, consider the following:
- what is the superior language, PL/SQL or shell script?
- what provides tighter integration with the database, PL/SQL or shell script?
- what provides proper security and access control, PL/SQL or shell script?
As you can call SQL*Plus from a shell script to run PL/SQL, you can call a shell script from PL/SQL instead to run external commands and processes.
Use the right tool for the job. And shell scripting is an excellent tool - but only when correctly used. Are you using it correctly? I strongly doubt that...

Passing Variable back to batch script

You can use PowerShell to automate the job of Zip and delete them based on scheduled time lines.

Batch script for automating process

Hi all, not sure if this is the right area asking about batch scripts, but this has to do with the back-end system in Hyperion.
I was wondering if there is a way to run a batch script on the transaction log that will give a list of any new GL accounts that have been added in the prior month or within the last 30 days? Can it also show which users are added to the account?
The purpose of this is to automate the process periodically and eliminate the Outline Maintenance Log or import to the Outline Maintenance Log. It would be helpful for adding more new cost centers.
Lastly, can I also run a batch script to see how often our end-users are in Hyperion reports?

Correct me if i'm wrong:
You want to know new members added in the account dimension recently. Is that right?
If so, you could do a select command like that:
SELECT O.OBJECT_NAME -- Just the member name. For alias, you need another join
FROM HSP_ACCOUNT A -- For performance, i put the smallest table here
INNER JOIN HSP_OBJECT O ON A.ACCOUNT_ID = O.OBJECT_ID -- Join to get the member name
WHERE O.CREATED >= (SYSDATE-(30)) -- last 30 days
Note this specific select you can only get the account dimension. Entity has his own table too.
For custom dimention it gets a little more complicated.

Batch script to delete records

I have an Oracle 10 DB that I am "in charge of", however, there are other gov't DBAs that actually control it. I am working with a tool that was developed by the previous contract winner and they are no help. The tool I use allows for records to be created, and for the most part, edited. However, there is no way to back out something if you make a mistake. I was told by the gov't DBA to create a batch script with exactly the records I want deleted and he'd run it. There are 16 tables and the criteria is the same for each; a specific date, and userID is the same for each record....
DELETE FROM Table1 WHERE DATE = '01-24-2014' and USERID = 'Me'; I need to do that 16 times and only change the table name. I haven't written a script in 15 years and old age is messing with me. Anyone have a suggestion? Thank you in advance.

The commit is worrisome; I'd want someone to watch and be sure each statement comes back with the expected number of rows before committing.
Ahh - yet another reminder of the old 'desktop computing' era.
Using Paradox:
1. a DELETE query would not only delete the rows but would create a table named 'DELETED' that actually contained the rows that were deleted. Then you could examine them and even put them back with an INSERT if you wanted.
2. an UPDATE query would perform the update and create a table named 'UPDATED' containing the original rows.
3. an INSERT query would insert and also create a table name 'INSERTED' containing a copy of the rows inserted.
I was always looking for Oracle to implement a CTAD - 'create table as delete' to make it easier to implement auditing and controls.
