Need help placing PDF as a thumbnail in my e-mail

Want image fully displayed as thumbnail or incon size but when the end users opens their e-mail if they want to cick the icon it will enlarge to full display of PDF

A single page PDF will appear inline or viewed in place within the body of the message. There is an option to view as icon for an attachment displayed as inline or viewed in place within the body of the message but changing this on your end will have no effect on the recipient's end. How such an attachment appears depends on the recipient's email client which the sender has no control over.

• Need help placing images on separate layers

I'm a novice to Javascript but I've been trying to learn. I have a project where i need to place muliple images from a folder onto separate layers (same page) in a template. I tried to modify "ImageCatalogue" script within InDesign to disastrous results. On another thread someone was kind enough to give me a short script "Objects to Layers" written by Kasyan Servetsky. This was very helpful but not exact to my needs so now I'm starting from scratch. I've been playing with the following code trying to get it to work. It doesn't and I'm getting frustrated. I keep changing this line but it keeps coming back as "undefined":
myImage.place(newLayer);
Can someone please point me in the right direction? Is my coding too simple? The end comments are my wish list of add-ons should I ever get these layers working.
Thanks for your help!
// script to place images on separate layers

• Need help placing photo image in laptop screen of a video...

I have footage that is both zooming and panning, and need a photo image to fit within the laptop screen space during the duration of the pan/zoom. Should I use "Track Motion" accompanied with key-framing in 2D? Does this make sense? Is there an easier way to achieve this, or is that the way to go?
Here is a rough take of the clip of which I speak. In reality, we will be placing the same image on both the HDTV and the laptop in the shot. Hopefully, this will make what I have said above a little more clear. Hope you can help. Thanks much.

If you have CS4 then I would recommend using Mocha for AE (a planar tracking software from imagineers system that comes bundled with AE CS4). It's basically designed for the kinds of stuff you described. There are some helpfull tutorials on the imagineer systems's website:

I paid to have the ability to convert a PDF document to a Word document. When I click on "convert" the area turns gray, and nothing happens. Once before, the document converted, but it did not come out the same. For example, the charts did not convert at all. Any help will be appreciated.

• Need help specifying PDF folder location in Javascript

We currently have a bit of Javascript that opens a PDF file when the user clicks the Open PDF button. The script is:
//External link button function                     border=0> <script
var ButtonID="PDF1";
var View="User Guides\\WiMAX User Guide.pdf";
document.writeln('')

document.writeln('')
document.writeln('')
The User Guides folder is within the Help folder where the CHM file is saved (so I have Help (where CHM files are stored)\User Guides (where PDFs are stored).
One of the PDFs is now installed outside the Help folder in a folder that is at the same level as the Help folder. I can't seem to get my updated link to work. Is there a limitation on that requires that the PDF be within the same folder or beneath the folder where the CHM is saved? Is there a way to get this to work?
Thanks.

Hi,
See http://www.cybertext.com.au/tips_HTML_chm_external.htm, it was written for AuthorIt but it should work for Robo as well. I seems you just need to get the path right, but you may have to amend your script (specifically the function GetCurrDir() ).

• Need help opening pdf files

I have a cd, which I have had for several years, and was able to use until the last year. Suddenly, Adobe Reader (I have tried several versions, updates, fixes, whatever!) says that each and every pdf file on the disk is damaged.
This is a cd that used to be able to start up on its own, and had various menus to get to the final pdf pages. I cannot open the files through windows explorer, nor by going through the menus. Each time, the error message tells me the file(s) was damaged because it was sent via e-mail or some other method that caused the files to be damaged. The problem with that is that the files and the cd were never altered, as the cd is not a rewritable one. It is also not pirated, if anyone is going to ask that question.
The cd is a manual for my vehicle. It has a parts manual, and a workshop manual along with other items. When the cd is put into the drive, it starts automatically, but cannot get a single file open. I have tried this in two different systems, and I get the same results. The strange thing is that I have files made under earlier Reader versions that still work. So why not this one, and why isn't someone at Adobe available to help me straighten this out? Shame on them!

I am facing the similar problem. Not able to open some PDFs. Was able to open till 2-3 months back. Did some analysis that not able to open the files created with version older the 9.0 of Adobe Reader. Also tried to open the same PDFs in my colleagues' Laptops and my home PC. No Success.
NEED SERIOUS ATTENTION FROM ADOBE.
You are in a user to user forum. If you want attention from Adobe, you'll have to contact Adobe and pay for the attention, as they don't provide free attention for problems related with the free Reader.
Adobe Reader cannot create PDF files, only open (read) them. If you cannot open some PDFs from within Reader in your machine and others, most probably they are damaged. Are you receiving any error messages when you try to open them? "Not able to open" doesn't say much, really.

• Need help creating pdf contracts: Reader vs. Acrobat

I am needing some help regarding creating pdf contracts to send to clients. It will basically need to have info input by 2 different parties, the catering company and their client. I am on a Mac and will be originally creating the pdf contract. It will then be used by a catering company, who is using Windows. They will need to input information into this contract, such as dates, client info, prices, menus, etc. Then, they will email it to the client (probably using Windows) for their electronic signatures, ability to print for their files, etc., and then return the signed pdf to the catering company.
I have been going through Reader and Acrobat to see which application would be better to use. In Acrobat, I exported the pdf to Word to input info, but Word changes the appearance/formatting of things. The catering personnel don't need to have to rearrange the appearance, they need something they can simply fill in info on. Is there a way around this?? I then made a new pdf and the rest of the process seemed to function okay.
In Reader, I couldn't find a way to export to Word in order to fill in info and create a new pdf...is this correct? So it seems that I would have to create forms for both parties originally, then have the catering company fill out their portions, and then send the pdf onto the client to fill in their portions. But, if the client highlights the fields, all will be highlighted, not just the ones they need to complete. And, would they be able to alter the fields that the catering company filled out?
Could somebody PLEASE help me out with the logistics of this process???
Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Boy - it's been a year and a half since you asked this question! So not sure if you're still out there.....
Looks like no one replied. Did you ever figure it out? I need to do the same thing...

• Need help with PDF/X-1a

I am beyond frustrated here so I hope someone can help me!!!! Ii have Adobe 8 Standard and I can't find the PDF/X-1a in my distiller. I need this particular preset to upload a book cover. The website won't accept any other format. The only thing I have in my distiller is PDF/A-1b.
Does anyone know where I can get the correct distiller? Everyone I know with Adobe 8 has the PDF/X-1a in their options and they don't remember having to do anything special to get it.

Assuming you have Acrobat installed, it would not hurt to verify compliance after the document is created. With the doc open (on my vesion 9) Advanced > Print Production > Preflight > PDF/X Compliance > Verify compliance with PDF/X-1a hit analyze
Note that a document must have a Title in the Title box under Document > Properties (ctrl+d) to pass X-1a and, for whatever reason, analyze and fix cannot add this.
And I'm far from the resident expert here..

• Need help placing files into Illustrator, Indesign and opening in Photoshop

For some reason Illustrator and Indesign CS2 won't go further than the iPhoto Library icon in my "place files" window and Photoshop won't go further than that either when opening files. This was not a problem with the previous version of iPhoto. Exporting singular photos is a pain in the rear, as I use hundreds of photos for my website and advertising. Is there something simple I'm missing?

This may be of some help:
Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 6 the Saving File preferences should be configured: "On First Save: Save Over Current File". Also I suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.
If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu). This way you get the best of both worlds

I need to center the radio buttons, as well as the table. Also, I need to create some space in between everything.

You know that you can nest JPanels, each with its own layout, you don't have to try to have everything placed in one JPanel that uses a single grand layout manager. I recommend that you read the Sun tutorial on layout managers, and try playing with them til you figure out what will work best. As it is all I see is an attempt to dump everything in one panel with GridBagLayout.
Also, you would do well to clean up the code, to refactor it into several methods, otherwise it will become a spaghetti code mess.
Good luck!
Edit: Here's what I got when I did this:
[flickr pic|http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3155/2906451640_8deedd7aa3_o.jpg]
I used
BoxLayout over-all for the main panel
A combination of BorderLayout and GridLayout for the top panel
gridlayout for the next radiobutton panel
jscrollpane for the jtable
and gridlayout for the buttons
I avoided GridBagLayout, because I truly despise it.
YMMV of course.

• Need help with pdf file

I have the version Adobe Reader XI and I can't open up a pdf attachment. I tried all the troubleshooting in the help menu but nothing is working. I have to be able to open up pdf file every day. HELP

Okay the pdf file has a little (save) at the bottom of the file and when you click on it, it says (save to my computer) When I click on this it does not give me an option of where to put the file it just blinks for a secondlike it saved it somewhere but when I go into my c drive and look I can't find it or when I go into adobe reader I can't find it so I tried right clicking on the save to my computer and got these messages
open
Open in tab
open in new window
save target as
Now I have tried all of these and it does the same thing. Just blinks for a second like it did something but again I can't find the file. I really would like to just go back to opening the file in my email. Do you think if I uninstalled Adobe reader X1 and reinstalled another adobe reader that might get me back to what I used to have? This just happened yesterday and I have the same browser and haven't changed anything on my browser but I did update adobe reader so I was thinking it had something to do with Adobe reader X1.
If you don't think this will work then go ahead and walk me through saving the pdf file but so far I have not been able to open or save it.

It's an old document I must have dropped it in here at some point but must no longer exist on my computer because Spotlight cannot find it.
I'm able to select everything in the sidebar except this PDF. I can't select it or highlight with my pointer, I can't right-click it to choose the "Remove from sidebar" option.
Please help, I'm stumped.

If you're on Snow Leopard, then hold the Command key down as you drag it off.
For Leopard like your profile shows, it should just drag off.

• Need help placing tracking script on button click

Howdy.
We're trying to track the button clicks on a landing page we're producing. I've got the "landing page" script in the header via the page properties but now I need to put script on a button that fires when the person clicks the button. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

script:

// Conversion Name: Finance & Accounting - Non-Finance Managers button
var ebRand = Math.random()+'';
ebRand = ebRand * 1000000;
//
document.write('<scr'+'ipt src="HTTP://bs.serving-sys.com/Serving/ActivityServer.bs?cn=as&ActivityID=1&rnd=' + ebRand + '"></scr' + 'ipt>');

Anyone got any ideas on this?
