Need help with data leakage - ATT no help but may get phone back!
Newb here and I have an issue.
Three weeks with the phone and finally got over my fear of an active app and downloaded a biking app. Did two 6 mile rides and went home to check data usage. ATT had not posted my usage yet (they run a couple of days behind) but I poo'ed myself at 42 meg of data. I started looking and 3872k 2735k 2781k 6803k and 1706k where all done when my phone was within 3 feet of my router and I was asleep. 3109k was when I was driving to work and 1183k 5934k 14073k and 1520k were when I was at work.
First ATT tried to tell me it was billing information. I asked them if they knew that every character in War and Peace was only 3100k this would have to be billing information for my community. Not much of a response.
Then they tried to tell me it was apps updating. A little clueless when I told them this was my first interactive app and even then 42 meg of updating apps in 8 days?
Then they tried to tell me it was internet and email. I use neither, especially at times I am asleep or driving or at work. There were only 3 instances over 1 meg that I was even able to access my phone. I have never used face time and until the last two days I have used my phone to text and picture message. I have put over 5 hours of talk time on it dealing with this so it now has 7 hours of talk time on it.
In short these charges are crap. So I downloaded Dataman. I get on the phone with ATT. My wife has the same phone (and uses her more and only has 7 meg of used data for the same billing period) Her phone is at 256.9k 3G and 12.3 meg wifi. (game player) Mine is at 12.6k 3G and 42.6K wifi. By the end of the conversation hers is at 258.5k 3G and 12.4 meg wifi and mine is at 17.8k 3G and 1.0 meg wifi. The ONLY app on my phone is dataman. No email. No internet. NOTHING but it sits here and uses up chunks of data. That keeps me from playing with the phone because I am sure if I start playing it wont take much time to eat up my 200 meg of data since it's already eaten up 1/4th of it and all ATT can say is "it's normal for a smart phone."
At first her answer was for me to take it to Apple to exchange it. I asked her what I was paying ATT a warranty for. NEVER did they offer to exchange the phone, look at it, etc. I brought up the fact that I am within my 30 days and she told me I was welcome to take it back. Nice answer but I would like to try and solve the problem
In the time I have written this my data has gone from 17.8 to18.3 and my wifi has gone from 1.0 to 1.2 meg on a phone with 1 app (dataman). Anyone have any ideas?

I put her phone in safe mode but not sure what to do after that?? I also don’t exactly want to have to spend another $5.00 per month just to be able to control her phone.....seems like that could be a free feature?? ’m pretty sure other carriers offer it for free.....and at this point I am considering switching. I have made at least 5 trips to the next town where the Verizon store is located (15 miles one way) and 1 trip to Winchester to get a phone that the other store didn’t carry when I switched phones (20 miles one way)..I feel more comfortable with the guy I am now dealing with there to get this figured out. I’ve also spent countless hours online researching forums for the solution to the problem....and have seen lots of solutions but none have worked for us so far. I feel like we are being scammed by these applications they offer and with all the settings they have it’s impossible to figure them out or know what they even mean!! Is there any chance of waiving some of the charges for this trouble we are dealing with?

I have to call a library function which passes IP Address and does something and returns me a value.
The problem I have is that external function call in this library excepts IP Address in form of a byte array.

I am printing a calendar and certain events will be helds on certain dates.
One can edit the event if it has not passed the date. Events in the past can be viewed but not edited.
When I query the database the date must be formatted dd-MMM-yy
I am able to get today's date by doing this:

I'm looping through each day of the month to print the days. I have the month, day, year as integers. How can I create a date object out of that and compare it to today's date to test if it's before or after today???

Here is some information about dates:
There are many edible palm fruits, and one of the most widespread and favored of these is the data (Phoenix dactylifera). Help with date validation on input boxes.
I need some help with date validation on input boxes.
What I�m trying to create is a form where a user inputs dates and then the rest of the form calculates the other dates for them.
i.e. � A user inputs 2 dates (A & B) and then a 3rd date which is 11 weeks before date B is calculated automatically.
Is this possible and if so how do I do it ???

To create database, I guess, it's better if you use the tool provided by the database. Which database? It can work with any databases provided that you can find the JDBC driver for the database.

I am writing a UI to configure a network device that will be connected to the serial port of the computer while it is being configured. There is no web server or database for my application. The UI has a large number of fields (50+) spread across 16 tabs. I will write the UI in Java FX. It should run inside the browser when launched, and issue commands to the network device through the serial port. A UI has several input fields spread across tabs and one single Submit button. If a field is edited, and the submit button clicked, it issues a command and sends the new datum to the device, retrieves current value and any errors. so if input field has bad data, it is indicated for example, the field has a red border.
Is there a standard design pattern or Java utility class to accomplish the frequently encountered, 'generic' parts of this scenario? lazy loading, submitting only what fields changed, displaying what fields have errors etc. (I dont want to reinvent the wheel if it is already there). Otherwise I can write such a class and share it back here if it is useful.

I just upgrade the OS X from 10.9.1 to 10.9.2. After upgrade, the help file is not available. How can I get it back?

Downgrade Mavericks to Snow Leopard
1. Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer Disc. After the installer
loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the
Utilities menu.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the
mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status
of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then
the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART
info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on
the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions
from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS
Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the
partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on
the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Quit DU and return to the installer. Install Snow Leopard.
This will erase the whole drive so be sure to backup your files if you don't have a backup already. If you have performed a TM backup using Lion be aware that you cannot restore from that backup in Snow Leopard (see below.) I suggest you make a separate backup using Carbon Copy Cloner.
If you have Snow Leopard Time Machine backups made while on Snow Leopard, then you may do a full system restore per #14 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions. If you have subsequent backups from Lion, you can restore newer items selectively, via the "Star Wars" display, per #15 there, but be careful; some Snow Leopard apps may not work with the Lion/Mountain Lion files. -
My device only displays the Diagnostic Mode screen. Don't metter what I do. I've tryed to update itunes and reestore with latest software a few times, but it always comes back on the Diagnostic Mode screen. What's wrong?

As Ocean20 say, your only shot at recovering the photos and data is to restore from a backup (with iTunes if you took the backup with iTunes, through iCloud if you took the backup through iCloud).
The erasure is to prevent your data from falling into the hands of somebody who takes your phone and eventually guesses your password. If you feel that the inconvenience caused by this feature and your friend outweighs the trouble that somebody could cause if they got possession of your contacts and other data, you can change this behaviour.
Settings > General > Passcode Lock > Erase Data > OFF -

There's a couple of ways to get through to the authorisation controls in the 11.0.x versions.
The control is still in the Store menu, but first (if you're using iTunes versions 11.0.x) you might need to bring up the menu bar to see the Store menu.
If you're using 11.0.x, click on the wee boxy icon up in the top-left corner of your iTunes to see the "Show Menu Bar" control, as per the following screenshot:
Then you'll find the control in the Store menu:
Alternatively, if you don't want to bring up the menu bar, it's still possible to get into the authorise controls via nested menus accessible from the wee boxy icon. Here's a screenshot of where to find them: -

I had backed-up my iPhone and when I try to restore it it says that the back-up is corrupt or the iPhone is not compatible. I had a bunch of pictures that I need from that restore. Is there any way to get them back? I did the back-up to my Macbook
If the backup is corrupt, there is nothing that can be done.
For what reason did you choose to not copy the pictures off the device to a computer prior to attemping an update or whatever caused the need to restore? iPhones are not intended as sole storage of any media. -
i have a problem with mail. the spelling and grammer check box before sending the messege is no longer there. I did everything but cannot get it back. is ther anyone who knows how to get the box with spelling and grammer checks before sending the mail.
Also the mail is acting very funny by not getting the rules work in a proper method. Is ther a software to repair mail.i did both of them, but still the while sending the mail the diolog box is not showing up and also the spelling and grammer does not do the spelling check.
This problem just started for about 3 to 4 days now. earlier it was working normally. -
