Need input on best methodology

Hi All,
I am not sure if this is the right place to ask this, and please let me know which forum to ask this if this is not correct.
Our company A was taken over by another company B, and now we have to merge the company codes so as to display the Company B logo, address information and bank information on all the customer facing documents, most of which comes from configs like Company code master, House bank info and stuff.
So we have a project going to change many of the documents like the SO acknowledgements and billing invoices.
The only problem we have here is that the business wants to still see the old information for the documents created before the go-live date and they want to see the new information on the documents created after the go-live date.
We are now not sure of the best approach to go about and not sure how we are going to do this, or even if this is acheivable in the first place.
It would be great if you guys can put in some ideas if any you guys have to handle this situation.

we had something simliar and used this approach:
- create customizing table with one field as flag defined as key named 'NEW_WORLD' (or something like that).
- create maintenance view for this table, where we can switch from old to new world.
- create a class ZSWITCH with static method IS_NEW returning the flag in the table
- identify all code where we have to change something.
- modify the code like
IF ZSWITCH=>IS_NEW( ) IS INITIAL.
* old company handling here
ELSE.
* new company handling here
ENDIF.
In SAPscript/Smartforms you have to set a global variable
GV_NEW = ZSWITCH=>IS_NEW( )
in calling program and use it in the script accordingly.
The advantage is that you can change the customizing value back and forth to test all development.

    A couple of thoughts in no particular order.
    1. Read the FAQ and learn how to use { code } tags to post a readable listing
    2. Your version number is (all decimal points)
    3. Provide DDL for the table
    4. Provide INSERT statements with sample data
    5. This is horrifying
    START_TIME > '01-AUG-2011' Dates are dates ... not strings. Best case you have an implicit conversion ... worst case a statement that will return invalid results. Either change the data type or do an explicit cast with TO_DATE.

    Hello,
    Almost all new motherboards today only have a primary ide channel and the rest are SATA.
    I need inputs regarding the dvd drive which is shown in device manager as located on the primary ide channel while the hard drive is located on the secondary channel. Because I would like to update the dvd drive to the latest firmware (version 1.06; to be able to recognize more blank media) but the LG site recommends that the drive (dvd) be located on the secondary ide channel.
    I already tried to uninstall every channel from the device manager but all would still be the same after reboot, dvd drive on primary, hard drive on secondary.
    Current ide mode in BIOS is set to AHCI+IDE mode, DMA modes are fine (UDMA4 for dvd, UDMA5 for hard drive), boot sequence (1st=HD, 2nd=DVD, 3rd=Floppy drive)
    Tried switching to IDE mode only in BIOS but would not detect the optical drive. Never tried RAID+IDE mode since I only have a single hard drive.
    I'm not sure but if I try to update the firmware, it might instead try to update the hard drive's firmware instead of the optical drive and make the hard drive unusable.
    I would like to know if anybody with this same situation was able to successfully update the optical drive's firmware or is there some way to place the optical drive on the secondary ide channel and the hard drive on primary for me to follow and replicate the process.

    Just received the solution from another forum where I posted the same problem.
    They said that the flash program for the firmware will detect the drive on its own and would not flash other devices except the optical drive itself. So its pretty safe, and I can confirm this since I just flashed my ODD a little over a while ago and everything went fine. No errors.
    Though I'm speaking for the brand of ODD I own and may be different for other brands so take precautions as well. It may be different for the others.

    If you have such kinda requirement , then it is easy to create WSDL(webservice) on PI System..
    Create a normal Xi Interface with normal Steps .....
    Your Sender DataType will be acc to Your requirement as clients want...
    go to tools - Define webservice ... ( will Use Outound Service Interface and namespace)
    read the template and Put values in there . This will genrate a WSDL for you , 
    You Can give this Genertaed , WSDL File to Client to consume in their application and Pass data to it ..

    Use smaller images.
    Here's an idea.. why don't you explain exactly what problem you are trying to solve... Gee how clever.
    Do you have a page that takes minutes to load? If yes... remove "stuff". That is how to make it faster. There is no other magic way (unless of course the problem is that it takes that length of time to process the page on your server but for the moment we will assume that is not the case)
    What stuff should you remove? Content. Images..... as described above. This isn't rocket science. If you are another one of these self described J2EE experts who has made a page that displays 20,000 database records at one time your page is going to be slow until you remedy your shoddy design.
    But whatever the real problem is the way to make a page "faster" is to remove "stuff" from it. What that stuff is and what you should remove are entirely known only to you... so really asking anyone else is pointless.

    We are at starting stage of SAP core project implementation with EHp4, so we would like to take your suggestions and recommendations on storage systems.
    The current storage we are using is Dell EMC CX700 (SAN).
    Weu2019ve narrowed down to two vendorsu2019 i.e., Hitachiu2019s AMS 2500 and EMCu2019s CX4-480
    Currently we have high speed servers in place and running only with MM, SD and FI (we will not be changing the servers).
    Please see the server configurations.
    Note: we have 3 servers

    2. DB server (SQL 2005)
    3. Load balancing server (additional application server)

    Hi All,
    Need inputs on the given scenario. We have implemented Quotation Management (VA21) for our client. The quotation goes through various levels of approval (or decline) via the Workflow below it is finally given to the customer.
    Users usually logs into SAP and approves (or decline) the quotation via the SAP Inbox. We have designed multiple decision process on the work item in the inbox. Alternatively users can also log in to Enterprise portal, which has been designed for them, to act on the quotation. Users are notified in their outlook mail about action that needs to be taken on the quotation.
    Now user wants to have the decision process to be implemeted as such that they can take action (approve/reject) via hand held devices (viz Blackberry). We are using ECC 6 and also have Enterprise Portal EP 7EHP1. Owing to cost constraint, client cannot implement SAP CRM Solution.
    If anyone of you has implemented such methodolgies or have worked on such solutions request you to get back to me with details regards to the timelines and cost and the desired process.

    You could acquire software (e.g. 3i Mobile Workplace or similar) that could handle the decision processing with little effort.
    If you wish to build a solution then the time/cost will depend on the complexity of the task visualization. You can create a Java client or use a simple HTML based web app.
    The decision task can be visualized using a custom BSP or WebDynpro application. Communication with the BlackBerry could be via RIM push or you could just send an email with a link to your approval application.
    The app would need to reserve the workitem and then complete the decision using the appropriate SAP_WAPI* RFC's.
    Bear in mind that all the above assumes you are distributing the approval tasks within your corporate network supported by the BlackBerry Enterprise Server and MDS.
    One of the bigger issues when using web apps is authentication. By default a web app requires the user to log on using their SAP user ID and password. Using a network user ID and password or using silent authentication is possible but requires more effort.

    In my company we are using ixos as archiving content server. I will like to know what is the standard /general configuration which is used while creating Archive POOL in ixos. What is the Best practice
    DO we create one archive for each type of document we want to archive Like for FI doc we create one FI pool, for HR we create another pool and so on. How do we handle object which contains logs  like "BC_DBLOGS" . Do we create one archive to store all type of logs.
    Or we just create one or two pool and store every type of document in there ?..
    So i would like to get some feedback , idea what people are doing in there companies to archive different type of data and what the best practice .

    I think the best way known so far for transporting Roles is through PFCG by using Customizing request.
    I dont think there is any program or smthing for roles transport.
    Last question is the transport policy different between Role menu transport and Rôle on Data transport
    I am not sure what do u mean by Role on data transport.

    In our production environment, we have already deployed the ECS and XSD and there are around 20 TP set-ups and configurations using that ECS and XSD for outgoing document definition. As part of a new requirement we need to change the ECS and hence the XSD and redeploy it in B2B.
    Doubts

    1. If we deploy a new ECS and XSD, do we need to redeploy all the 20 TP agreement and configurations. PLease let me know whether updating Document Protocol by uploading the new ECS and XSD will help.
    2. If we add an additional element in the ECS and XSD definition, do we need to change the BPEL process's transformation part.

    RN: As a Best practice you need to change the transformation, however this is not a must if the node is optional.

    I'm not worked with CWM but what I know is that CWM is a business function, IS-CWM.
    As I understand is that you need to activate IS-CWM in your system to get the functionalities that you want. I didn't know any other way.

    Nearly ready to upgrade to LP7...need advice on more gear.
    Longtime Logic user, my old rig running with an Audiowerk 8 card (dont laugh too hard please, its worked great for years! ).
    Now, after purchasing a MBP and LE7 ... how best to upgrade even further, to be able to record say 4-8 tracks (live instrument) at a time, into the optical or Firewire ports. I have an external 750Gb FW drive.
    Also have a Mackie 16 chnl mixer and hoping to find a way to send the Master stereo pair (or maybe even track inserts) from the Mackie to the optical or FW input of my MBP. But how to do this ? Im guessing there's a box or gizmo somewhere that would be perfect.
    Unfortunately, all of the boxes and gizmos Ive looked at so far seem to duplicate functions I already have, esp mic preamps (dont need any more of those !). I prefer 19" rackmount devices as they work well with portability, and fit into my SKB rig easily.

    if you really want to use the pre's on your mackie, and it has multiple bus/aux outputs which I presume it does, then you can easily set up a device such as the 828 to take all your input channels from the mackie, and then to run a bunch of return pairs back out to it.
    depending on your budget there are prob a few others for you to look at. RME and metric halo always get rave reviews from users, but are pricier. also the focusrite sapphire might be worth a look, as well as the apogee ensemble.
    also I just noticed you are using logic express, not pro. so there may be some limitations on the number of simultaneous inputs and outputs that I'm unaware of.

  • Limited Access to MiniDV camcorder, need to import best

    I've had many versions of Photoshop Elements, but have just purchased Adobe Premiere Elements 10 (have never used any Premiere/Premiere Elements software).
    I have about 50 miniDV tapes, but no camcorder.  Recently, I talked an acquaintance into lending me their camcorder which will play these tapes, which really took some talking, as I'm not a friend, just an acquaintance.
    I ordered and *just* received a Canopus/Grass Valley Bidirectional Analog/Digital Video Conversion ADVC110.  I intend to convert the tapes to DVD's, but with some editing, removing some scenes, etc.
    I had intended to read forum postings, view the tutorials, experiment, etc.  BUT, now the person want their camcorder back after this weekend, so I need to import all the tapes this weekend.  So, with no time to learn anything, what's the best way I can import the tapes into a format that I can play with/experiment with later?  Like I said, I had intended to import various ways, experimenting until I found what works best.  But now I need a "huge, uncompressed" file, or whatever, not even sure what I need.
    I wasn't expecting them to want their camcorder back anytime soon, so got kind of blindsided (long story).  When I was looking at ebay before, camcorders like this were either too expensive, or you were taking chances as to whether they worked or not.
    I know the usual answer would be to "read the manual", view tutorials, etc, but I'm going to be hard pressed just to import the tapes.  Even though it's a US Holiday weekend, I have to work it.
    Any tips would be appreciated, thanks.

    IF you have problems figuring out how to use PreEl there are a couple other programs that are single purpose, so MAYBE easier to use... I think they are free, but I don't use them so not 100% sure

    Be aware that DV AVI is "about" 13 Gig per hour, so you need LOTS of space on your 2nd, dedicated data drive... if you don't have a dedicated data drive, you NEED one
    My 3 hard drives are configured as... (I built a computer for Win7... you need at least 2 hard drives... a BIG one for your data files)
    1 - 320Gig Boot for Win7 64bit Pro and ALL program installs (2)
    2 - 320Gig data for Win7 paging swap file and video project files
    3 - 1Terabyte data for all video files... input & output files (1)
    (1) for faster input/output with 4 drives
    - use drive 3 for all source files
    - use drive 4 for all output files
    (2) only 60Gig used, for Win7 & CS5 MC & MS Office & other smaller programs
