  • 8.1 Found Workgroup printer. I'm not on Workgroup! Need new Printer?

    Hello,
I have an Epson color 580 printer from like 15 years ago. Worked great with XP. When I tried to print with Windows 8.1, it directed me to save the file as an .xps or something. I couldn't get the .xps to print. I did some reasearch and people said to disable
the windows .xps viewer or whatever it's called in controll panel and make my printer the primary printing device. I disabled and removed the default .xps viewer and the fax under the printers section which automatically moved my printer ('USB Printer') up
from 'secondary' to 'primary' but it still wouldn't print. Then I realized I didn't install the printer driver. I put the driver CD in but nothing at all happened. I went to Epson's site and downloaded the XP driver because it was the latest version. It gave
an error after installing but I restarted and tried to print anyway. When I tried to print, it said 'no printers were set up' and asked to 'install one?' so I hit yes, but it found the printer on someone else's computer in another room of this house and I
thought I wasn't on any sort of network/workgroup sharing and I don't want to be. I had 'find printer and devices on network..." set to OFF in settings. I have eveything that I can see in settings set to not be on the Workgroup/Network sharing. I tried
"The printer that I want isn't here" but that didn't work. With XP, when I used to format, it would show me the name(s) of the workgroups during the format, and I would never join what was default named WORKGROUP. When formatting Windows 8.1, it
didn't show anything about workgroups while I installed it.
The last thing I want is to possibly have my data shared on the network. I've had 8.1 installed for a few days now but I haven't taken anything from my external drive that I saved from my XP machine in case it can be read from other computers in this house
or via Wi-Fi. I really need that data but have been waiting because of this.
So, besides letting me know how I can make sure I'm 0% on the workgroup network if that's even possible, do I need to buy a newer printer to use with windows 8.1 or can I make the Epson color 580 work?
    Thanks a lot.

    Hi Bill,
There is quite a few questions in your post so I will try to cover them. First, I am happy to hear your choice to use Windows 8, but regarding your workgroup issue. All Windows OS will be part of a workgroup, often called (by default)
Workgroup or Home. If any other computer on your network is using the same workgroup name and is sharing e.g. printers it might result in you see it, but my guess is, you can’t connect to it without the right username and password. Another new feature you
need to be aware of in Windows 8 is the HomeGroup feature
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/products/features/homegroup which is Workgroup on steroids and will allow users in the same HomeGroup to share content across a home network, e.g. printers, pictures movies etc. That mentioned, none of this is
enabled by default. However if you accept the network to be a home network some sharing features will be enabled (based on the location awareness in the Windows Firewall), and I guess you have accepted this otherwise network discovery wouldn’t be active –
that said, it can be differ in Windows 8 versions (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_8_editions)
Regarding your printer it might be a good solution to go get e new printer, however you might be able to make it work by using a generic Epson printer driver or by using Epson Universal Printing. Unfortunately Universal Printing is for
    selected Epson printers only.
My Epson knowledge is limited, but a quick search gave me an idea, how about try to use the EPSON Creativity Suite 1.30 for Windows 7 (http://esupport.epson-europe.com/ProductHome.aspx?lng=en-IE&data=qBjAbS6NcI1PPmGd+PArU002FvIhL+ZEhLyrbsKseXRJHfYU003D&tc=6)
and see if that will do the trick – ensure you select the appropriate driver, 32-bit vs. 64-bit.

  • Need PCL5 print codes to disable paper tray switching when tray is out of paper

We have a  HP P4015n with 3 trays, tray one has letterhead, tray 2 has plain paper, tray 3 has preprinted forms (all 8.5"x11" paper size).  This is connected to a Linux system with print jobs coming from a legacy software package - they are mainly text documents that have embedded PCL control codes.
The problem, when a tray is empty, the printing will continue to the next tray, which may have letterhead or preprinted form, etc.
Can I turn off auto tray switching?  Either using a PCL printer code or through the printer control panel?
If I am printing to tray 3, and that tray is empty, I'd like the printer to wait until the tray has paper again, and not use a different tray.
I played around with the "paper type" (letterhead, preprinted form, etc) setting found on the Printer's built-in web page, but when I send a job there, the printer needs someone to hit the "OK" on the printer. I assume the printer is looking for the paper type embedded in the document to match.  Is there a PCL print code for that?
I have been researching PCL5 printer control codes and can not find either command.
    Thanks for any help,
    This question was solved.

As for it moving up to the next tray, it all depends on the printer.  Some will not let the job continue to the next tray if the paper type is set differently but it is more common that the printer will just keep going.  The only workaround I have found is when doing large jobs that you know will exceed tray capacity is to just make sure the right paper is in all the trays.  The other thing too, is to keep the trays full (just make sure to put the fresh paper under the paper that is in the tray to reduce jamming issues).
I'm including the link for the history of PCL/PJL because at the bottom under Additional Documentation it links to pdf's of the technical manuals detailing everything you could ever want to know about manual coding for printing using these languages:

  • CC Need New Machine Code After Hardware Change

Following a motherboard change caused by lightening, I am unable to get CC out of "trial" mode. How do I request a new machine code, if that is what is needed. I can sign in and have re-installed my subscription programs, but cannot activate programs. I get an error stating that the program is unable to connect to Internet during attempts to activate. • Need new activation code for NFR  XS key

who knows who to email to receive new activation codes for logic NFR key. I havent gotten a response for the [email protected] address. what is the proper Apple email address to get codes from?

All the suggestions in this forum were made because people assumed that you are using Logic Pro 7.1 and Mac OS X.
I didn't assume this at all. I still think that they should be contacting apple, because as far as I can tell, an NFR version of a no longer selling product is not something you would ideally want to be hanging on to. apple would be able to tell you if they'll change it over for a logic 7 one, or to have a license bought for it so you can keep running 6 on OS9. NFRs are after all demo versions, usually given out to dealers and/or VIPs, I don't see why they would want to maintain NFR licenses out there for software that they are no longer demo-ing to sell. doesn't mean you can't buy a normal license though.

  • Renabled web services but new printer code says this printer already assigned to someone

I had to remove then reenable web services. Print out gave me new code to add printer again.signed in with same login as when first registered but after entering new code it says invalid. Just got new code so its not 24 he's yet. Says this printer already assigned to someone. Yeah me! But I know its removed when I remove web services then enable. Plus it doesn't show any printer for my login. I know I have to assign new email address but can't add my D110 printer. Help!

    Hey lori6464!
Sorry you are having a problem! If you just reset web services, try resetting it again. I'm not sure why the code wouldn't work for you but if you generate another code, it should work. Let me know if you need more help!

  • Need new printer for MacBook

I'm distressed! Can anyone tell me which black and white reasonably priced printers work with my MacBook? I want information from those who have printers that are USB plugin and work right out of the box with a MacBook. I am so confused by everything being offered and the Apple site lists so few basic printers (everything is for photos).
    Thanks,
    Lisa...

Any USB printer will work provided there's an OS X compatible printer driver. You can check this list of printers known to be compatible. You can also check the manufacturer's support web site to determine if an OS X compatible driver is available for that printer. Buying from a vendor that supports Apple will also be helpful since they are not likely to sell printers that will not work with Macs.
Most non-laser printers being sold today are all color capable as well as black and white. It may be difficult to find a non-laser printer that only prints black and white.
Hewlett-Packard, Epson, Brother, Lexmark, and Canon, for example, all have many different models that are compatible (but not all models are compatible.)

  • How to enter printer code into new eprint acount. first acount was deleted. (photosmart 7510)

I eneterd my printer code into my eprint account, then mistakenly deleted the account. I set up a new account, but now I can't add the printer. I get the message "invalid code". The printer is a photosmart 7510.

You may need to disable and then enable Web Services from your printer to get a new printer code and then register that code.

  • My printer code says expired but same code continues to print from new printer photosmart 7510

Question is in subject heading. I see no way to get new printer code

    Hello VMB,
In order to print a new printer code you must disable Web Services and re-enable it. Some printers have this option as 'Restore Factory Defaults" on the Web Services Menu. Once you have enabled Web Services it contacts the server for a new code that you can use to register your printer on ePrintCenter.
    Hope this helps.

  • HP Laserjet Pro 100 Color MFP M175 expired printer code

When signing on to eprintcenter.com it says my printer code is expired. When I try to print an information sheet from the printer it says it is 'Downloading from the Web', but then just goes back to Ready without printing.

    Hi TerriLG,
The printer code that was generated is only good for 24 hours. So you will need to disable and then re-enable Web Services to get a new printer code. Make sure and register the new code right away or it too will expire.
On a Laserjet, you will need to access the EWS (embedded web server) for the printer. To do this, find the IP address of your printer and enter that address in your web brower on your PC. There should be a "Web Services" tab within the EWS.

I require a new printer code as the one supplied with the printer is out of date. The number supplied with the printer is
    ipdid38adiv43. I will also require a new e-mail address.

    Hey acatto!
The email address should stay the same, but the code does expire after 24 hours. What you need to do to get it running again is to reprint the email information sheet. You can do this normally through the web services menu under settings. If you tell me what kind of printer you have though I'd be happy to tell you exactly where it is.
Let me know if this helps!

  • Creation of new country codes - Serbia.

The business user is not able to find country code for Serbia in production system.
We are currently using SAP ECC 6.0.
I have refered the SAP note no 603152 for creating country code .
Their are two alternatives available to fix it:
    1. Manual creation of country code in the system. We need to maintain additionally the currency also in the system.    Note: I do not know the implication of manual creation of country code in SAP sytem. As Country codes are used by many tables.
    2. If we need new country codes for country settings of Serbia.
Then it can be done by using new SAP Basis (Netweaver) releases from release SAP_BASIS 710 or  appropriate support pack. Then country precustomised setting of serbia can be done by upgrading support pack of basis.
The above alternatives are available. As country code is an important aspect & maintained at client level.
Please let us know which alternative would be suitable, Why.

I would recommend the basis way.
If you go the manual way - Go to T Code OY01.
