Need to double click to activate

On my mac, in order to activate a link or other object, I need to click twice: once to select, then again to activate. Is there any way to be able to click on something and use it using only one click?

I also have this problem on my Mac.
I've been watching videos on Youtube all week, and it just started acting up today.
Now when I go to a Youtube video, say for example this one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GRdCoXI6Hq8
...and I want to pause the video, I have to click on it twice.
Once to select it, and again to activate the pause button.
Normally I would only have to click once to pause the video.
Now I'm just guessing at this... but perhaps the reason lies with this:

Yes, there seem to be big problems in this area in Safari.

  • Suddenly need to double click icons, how do i fix this

I suddenly need to double click on all icons.  The icons get "highlighted" with a square. This square must be "moved" to the desired location then hit twice to enter the requested action.

You likely enabled VoiceOver by triple-clicking the Home button. Check your VoiceOver setting and disable it if it's enabled.

Remember you need to double-tap to enable/disable the setting until you turn it off

  • Need to double click to do anything

My iPad has gone weird. It first said JKL and  every time I want to do something I have to double click. How do I fix this to make it go back to normal??

Are you having to tap an item to select it (and does it then get a box around it) and then double-tap it so as to activate it ? If you are then you have VoiceOver (one of the accessibility features) 'on'. Try triple-clicking the home button and see if that turns it off, and if it does you can then change what a triple-click does via Settings > General > Accessibility > Accessibility Shortcut.
If that doesn't turn it off then you can either turn it off directly on the iPad (you need to use a tap-to-select and then double-tap to activate/type process and 3 fingered scrolling) to go into Settings > General > Accessibility and turn VoiceOver 'off', or you can do it by connecting to your computer's iTunes (after typing in your passcode via the tap/double-tap process) : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5018

  • Double Click to Activate Tree Item Editor

Hi, I have an mx:Tree that uses an MXML component as an item
editor. I only want to activate the editor when the user double
clicks on a tree's node. As a default, a single click will open the
the item editor on the Tree list. Can anyone help me with
    this?

I am pretty sure it is possible, but I have not done it. You
will probably need to cancel the default behavior of click event.

  • My IPad needs double click to access anything and does not scroll through anything

IPad needs a double click to access anything and then does not scroll down.

Do you need to tap (and the app/item then gets a box around it) and then double-tap ? If you do then you probably have VoiceOver (one of the accessibility features) 'on'. Try triple-clicking the home button and see if that turns it off, and if it does you can then change what a triple-click does via Settings > General > Accessibility > Triple-Click Home.
If that doesn't turn it off then you can either turn it off directly on the iPad (you need to use a tap-to-select and then double-tap to activate/type process and 3 fingered scrolling) to go into Settings > General > Accessibility and turn VoiceOver 'off', or you can do it by connecting to your computer's iTunes : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4064

  • Geturl needs double-click

Trivial problem: a Flash 8 animation which has an embedded
URL button with a geturl - whether 'press' or 'release' - attached
needs a double click to function; single-click selects the
animation itself (frame displays the 'selected' border). How pls
can I get the button to work with a single click like a normal
    <a> URL ?

I think the problem you facing is the active content warning.
You can easily see that when you mouse over your flash movie
a gray border appears around it and a bubble tells you that you
    need to click to activate.
If this is the case, you need to download the flash 8 update
that has a new set of templates to remove that system.
The update can be found here:

  • Needs double click to edit cell in JTable

I know this is bad design but there's no other way that I could possibly meet the requirement which is to have dynamic components. Anyhow, the requirement is to have any kind of components(e.g. TextFields, Combobox, Regular expression fields, a panel with a number of checkboxes) in a table cell in the same column. It would have been easier to do this by using the the DefaultCellEditor, with the 'panel containing a number of checkboxes' I cannot use it.
I already have an implementation for this requirement. There was no problem with it when we used Java 1.5. But when we shifted to Java 1.6, I noticed that I need to double-click on a cell so that I can edit it. I did not notice this behavior at all with 1.5. What could have changed in 1.6?
    Below, are my (trimmed-down) codes:

  • HT1711 why do I have to double click everything now in itunes?

    Hello everyone,
I'm not an expert on the Itunes program so this could be a dumb question, but I'll try to explain this in clear detail and be as brief as possible.
Earlier versions of Itunes did not have this feature or issue, so it was when I updated last year that this became an annoyance. Everytime I click one of my songs to change something like artist, title, rating, etc the entire program will highlight in grey, then I need to double click to get into the tab to add or delete file name stuff. Why is this? The older versions of Itunes I never had to double click out of this grey highlighted box to get into changing text. Maybe it sounds like a dumb reason to be frustrated but most of the songs I listen to are in Japanese so I need to translate them and add the English names, bands, and proper song titles and it drives me crazy you need to double or even triple click on anything to get into it now.
    Thanks!

You must have VoiceOver on.  You have to go to Settings>General>Accessibility>VoiceOver to turn it off.  However, with VoiceOver on you have to flick the screen with three fingers to scroll.  Also you have to tap an item on the screen once to select it, then tap again twice to activate it.  (Example:  To open Settings, tap Settings once to select it, then double-tap Settings to open it.)

How can you get your submit buttons on the quiz template to be a single click instead of the default double click?  (The option to choose double click or not is not showing in properties for this).

Hmmm... Submit button doesn't need a double click at all. Maybe you are talking about the two-step process? When you click on Submit, the feedback appears with the message to click anywhere or press Y. Is that what you are talking about? If you are talking about a real double-click, something must be wrong in your file. And which version are you using?

  • Double clicking an image in Browser view

I see that the behavior for double clicking an image in Browser view has changed between Aperture 2 & 3. In version 2, double clicking an image would jump from Browser view to zoom in on that image in full screen mode. Now in version 3, double clicking just switches to that image in Viewer mode in the main window, without entering into full screen mode.
While I guess this change makes some sense given the changes to full screen mode in v.3, my old fingers have gotten used to doing things the old way. To recreate what I used to do in v.2 I need to double click, then hit 'F' to do to full screen mode and then do the reverse to get back where I started.
Is there anyway I can change this behavior to the old v.2 way? I see lots of ways to customize hotkeys and commands, but nothing to change behaviors for a double click.
    Thanks!

I can't find anything, but I'm still finding my way around!
I don't think you need to double click and press F..... just pressing F should change views.
Another way is to drag the "Full Screen" icon into the toolbar, and you can just click that.
