Needs progress bar or something

This is a quirky request, but Mail is very stealth when it's in the process of sending an email. Other than the sound it makes when it completes the send, there's no visual cue that indicates status other than the message window dissapears.
Sorry, I'm trying my best to use the native Apple apps as much as possible, and I have high praise for iPhoto, iTunes, iMove...but the productivity apps like Mail, Address Book and Calendar still have much to be desired...in my opinion.

The little spinning progress wheel is also shown next to the Outbox. When the message is successfully sent, both of those disappear.

  • Need progress bar component help.

    I have a huge headache from doing hours of web searching for
    what seems to be a simple solution. All I want to do is use the
    progress bar component on frame one to load my main timeline and I
    can't find a tutorial for this anywhere. Can anyone help? Thanks in
    advance,
    Joe

    You can use the progress bar Component as a preloader of
    sorts, but this doesn't work very well within the same document.
    The best way to go about doing this is to create a 'loading' swf
    file, that is the same size as the swf your main swf, then make an
    empty MC and load the swf into it and you can then use the progress
    bar Component to display the loading (or any number of other visual
    indicators) loading is best done using the MovieClipLoader class,
    where you can use it's event handlers and methods to effect the
    progress indicator, however the pbar Component has these handler
    built in as well so in this case for simplicity I'll use the
    loadMovie method (I rarely do) So with a swf the same size as the
    one you want to load, place a pbar instance on the stage with the
    instance name of 'my_pb', and create an 'actions' layer and add
    this code to the first frame:

  • Finally! A progress bar for AppleScripters!

    Progress bars are something that my scripts have lacked as I mainly program in AppleScript. I had resorted to using an outside app as a progress bar in my scripts...
    But no more!! I have borrowed Marc Autret's Javascript progress bar code from this post and made it into some handy handlers. I hope this helps other people too.
    Here they are in an example AppleScript.
    on myProgressBarCreate(pbBarName, firstAction, pbMax)
      set pbJS to "#targetengine 'pbar'
    var ProgressBar = function(/*str*/title)
         var w = new Window('palette', ' '+title, {x:0, y:0, width:340, height:60}),
              pb = w.add('progressbar', {x:20, y:12, width:300, height:12}, 0, 100),
              st = w.add('statictext', {x:10, y:36, width:320, height:20}, '');
         st.justify = 'center';
         w.center();
         this.reset = function(msg,maxValue)
              st.text = msg;
              pb.value = 0;
              pb.maxvalue = maxValue||0;
              pb.visible = !!maxValue;
              w.show();
         this.hit = function() {++pb.value;};
         this.hide = function() {w.hide();};
         this.close = function() {w.close();};
    pBar = new ProgressBar('" & pbBarName & "');
    pBar.reset('" & firstAction & "', " &a pbMax & ");"

    How is your file itself going to show a progres bar if it isn't loaded yet?  Seems to me it would have to load before it could do anything like that.
    Have you tried experimenting with different browsers and OS's to see what happens?  With Firefox 4 on Windows XP here I don't get a progress bar but I do get a little spinning graphic when I try to load a large PDF like this one here:

  • 2.0 Update - No progress bar?

    I thought their might be a progress bar or something that shows you how far along the download is.

    You would have to click on the active downloads tab under iTunes. Mine downloaded in about 10 mins, the update took 20 mins, and the sync for the last 15mins.

  • HT1212 My ipad mini has been crashing a lot recently so I started a system reset. However, it's now stuck with the progress bar less than a quarter gone: this has been the case for several days now. I have tried resetting from itunes but it needs the pass

    Now it's stuck with the progress bar less than a quarter full. I have also tried resetting through itunes which works right up to the point where itunes states that it needs the passcode to be inputted into the ipad to connect to it. At which point it then sticks at the same progress bar point. HELP!! please, this ipad is really important to my work.

    Well the term "hotlined" I have never heard before. In any case many states (like NY) just passed regulatory powers to the State Public Service Commission of which it may be called something different in your state. You could file a complaint with them. Or file a complaint with your state attorney generals office, they also take on wireless providers.
    The problem here is the staff you speak to are poorly trained, in days gone by it took one call to them and they pulled up your account and see the error and had the authority to remove any errors. They did not remove legitimate account actions, but used their heads instead of putting a customer off or worse lying to the customer.
    Its a shame you have to go through what you going through.
    Good Luck

  • Need help with progress bar !!!!!!!

    Is ther anyway to display the progress of functions, which I created in my application, through a progress bar ... while the results are being computed with my alogs..
    They are quite long and it takes quite sometime for the results to generate and user shud see that something is working ... while he waits and shud feel that nothing is happening ....
    The progress shudnt necessarily be measurable ... a non measurable progress bar will also do .... Jst want to show that some activity is goin on at the back ...
    My algo consist of functions :
    for (i = 0 ; i < = 6 ; i++)
    my function 1 (my parameters) {} - called 10 times each time the i increments with different parameters
    my function 2() {} - called 10 times ....
    my functions 3() {}   - called 10 times IF somebody know how to do it ... please help meee......... its urgent

    Are you posting this on your cell phone? There seems to be something horribly wrong with your keyboard or your auto complete for your words, as it is, I could barely understand what you were asking. If that is the way you actually spell, then I doubt anyone could help you, maybe you should just step away from the keyboard or what ever device it is your are using to input, because it's correct operation seems to escape you--will you actually be able to comprehend a solution if it is presented?
    But on the outside chance that you may be a savant, and just cannot form sentences and words properly, here is an idea...
    Ages ago, long before you were ever an itch in your parents'... you get the picture...
    They used to say: "Hey, I'm going to be doing a lot of processing or repetitive tasks and maybe between each task I should do something to let the user know the process is running and not just locked up."
    Even a status bar needs you to do something between each process, you have to make it do something between executions of tasks.

  • Help needed please, with Iphone stuck with apple picture and progress bar after software update attempted

    Help needed please, everytime I try to update the software version on my iphone it comes up with a message saying it could not be completed and is now frozen with the apple picture and progress bar on it. Do I unplug it and hope the macbook pro sees it again, I also stupidly did not back up before starting the download which I realise I will have to go back to the previous back up. This keeps happening, everytime I do this type of update, I'm starting to think I should just give up on updating my software on the Iphone. I thought it was happening because I was using a window based computer to do the updates, this time I used my Macbook Pro. Please somebody help

  • I keep getting the message on iTunes that my Shuffle (which is current on updates) needs to be restored.  It is showing up in devices, but when I try to add songs to it, I don't get the little progress bar showing me that the song is being added. ***?

    I updated to the new iTunes last week.  Today I plugged in my 4th generation Shuffle to add some new songs.  The shuffle appears in Devices, but when I try to add songs, I'm not getting the progress bar at the top of the screen, so I'm assuming the song isn't being added.  I tried ejecting the Shuffle and plugging it in again, and I got a message that my iPod needed to be restored before it could be used with iTunes -- even though the screen also said the Shuffle is up to date on the software. I finally gave in and restored it, but I continue to get the same message.  When I eject the iPod and try to play it now, I'm getting nothing, and when it is connected to the usb port, the orange light is continually flashing.  I've been trying to figure this out for about 3 hours now, so if anyone could help me, I'd be eternally grateful!

    The 1st and 2nd gen shuffles do not have an automatic syncing mode, like later shuffles and the "big" iPods.  It is maintained manually (or by using the Autofill feature).
    If the iTunes sidebar (along left side of window) is hidden, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.  The shuffle appears in the sidebar, under DEVICES, when connected.
    To add songs to the shuffle...  Show a list of songs in the iTunes window.  For example, you can select Music under LIBRARY (in the sidebar) to show your complete iTunes music library list.  Select a song and drag it to the shuffle in the sidebar.  You can do this with more than one song selected.  Alternately, select the song(s), right-click the selection, and choose the command to Add to Playlist -> [name of iPod].
    To remove songs from the shuffle...  Select the shuffle in the sidebar.  To the right, it's Settings screen is shown.  Toward the top, where it says Settings, click on On This iPod (to the right).  The list of songs on the shuffle is shown below.  Select the song you want to remove and press Delete on the keyboard.  You can do this with more than one song selected.
    NOTE:  At the bottom of the shuffle's list of songs, there are controls for the Autofill feature.  You can also use Autofill to fill your shuffle from your music library or from a specific playlist.

  • [SOLVED] Almost there just need a global progress bar

    Heya,
    There's no man page for bar so I have looked at the code a bit. I am trying to have a progress bar to copy a folder with many files including symbolic links (unfortunately pycp does not support them yet). With the -s parameter, I can specify the approximate size of what I am copying but it works only if it is a single file.
    I have also tried pv, pipemeter, orphan advcp, ecp, scp and I am now desperate.
    Would someone be kind enough to help me ?

    This might help http://www.dwcourse.com/dreamweaver/ten-commandments-spry-menubars.php#one
    Also, if you use DW CS5 click on Live Code and Live View. Then when clicking on the menu items in Live View, watch the changes in classes that occur. This mifgt give you a clue of what to do.

  • Need to use progress bar in my application

    hello friends,
    Actually i m using jsp filedownload and I am gettting my file in byte array and need to implement a progress bar while downloading file (as IE showing in status bar downloading file size ..% of total file size)...no fake progress bars and no stop gap solutions as like a gif moving with sign "plz wait ..file is downloading "
    plz help how to get this done
    My code
    HashMap result = (HashMap)request.getAttribute("requestParams");
         String type = request.getParameter("type");
         boolean isFile = false;
              if(result != null){
              String successFlag = (String) result.get("");
              String sFileName = null;
              byte[] bFile = null;
              String sContentType = null;
              if(successFlag != null && successFlag.equals("true")){
                   for(int i=0;i<result.size();i++){
                        sFileName = (String) result.get("FILENAME");
                        bFile = (byte[]) result.get("FILEDATA");
                        sContentType = (String) result.get("CONTENTTYPE");
                   response.reset();
                   if(null!=bFile) {
                        if(bFile.length>0){
                             if(sContentType == null || sContentType.equals("")){
                                  response.setContentType( "application/octet-stream" );
                             else response.setContentType(sContentType);
                             response.setHeader("Accept-Ranges", "bytes");
                             isFile = true;
                             response.setHeader("Content-Length", Integer.toString(bFile.length, 10));
                             if(null!=sFileName){
                                  if("view".equals(type)){
                                       if(null!=sFileName)response.setHeader("Content-Disposition","inline; filename=\""+sFileName+"\"");
                                  else{
                                       response.setHeader("Content-Disposition","attachment; filename=\""+sFileName+"\"");
                             ServletOutputStream outs = response.getOutputStream();
                             if(null!=bFile)outs.write(bFile);
                             outs.flush();
                             outs.close();
                             out.clear();
                             out = pageContext.pushBody();
                                       }

    You should get your keyboard fixed. There's a lot of letters missing from what you type and it makes it very hard for other people to read. It looks extremely inelegant.
    Anyway, your JSP isn't in control of the download. (You shouldn't have all that Java code in a JSP either but that's a separate issue.) All it does is to send the data to the browser, which is in charge of the download. And in all the browsers I use, there's a box which tells you how far the download has proceeded. No real need for a progress bar, even if you could persuade the browser to make one. Which you can't.

  • I am performing a clean install of OS X vs. 10.8.5 on a new internal hard drive.  At the end of the installation process the progress bar stalls with a minute to go - error message "Can't download the additional components needed to install OS X" appears

    At the end of the installation process (Clean install, new 500GB internal hard drive, formatted and partitioned, MacBook 13" Aluminum, late 2008) the progress bar stalls and eventually a drop down error message appears "Can't download the additional components needed to install OS X".   I am using a USB 8 GB bootable flash drive.  Any ideas?

  • Need simple progress bar

    Hi...
    I have a GUI which calls methods in different classes.
    There are three long running tasks, which I want to be able to display the progress of.
    Each task MUST finish before the other proceeds, so I don't think it is necessary for more than one thread.
    I want to have a simple "progress bar" pop-up when each task starts, and then disappear when it is finished. Or, have a "progress indicator" on the GUI, which can be reset and started again.
    I have played around with JProgressBars and JProgressMonitors (from this site), but haven't been able to adapt them to the simple needs.
    Is there any hope for what I want to achieve?
    You would have thought this was an easy task, but I'm a broken man!
    Thanks for any help.

    Maybe this example will help.
    If it does may I claim the duke dollars please

  • Need very simple ''progress bar'' or a ''Please wait notice'' in javascript

    I have a JSF portlet app, made in JSC. It uses remote EJB calls and some calls take a long time to finish. E.g. User clicks a button, some data are gathered, sent to an EJB and the app. is waiting for reply.
    For the user it looks like this: Click ... Internet Explorer progress bar flashes, nothing happens for 30s, then the progress bar starts from zero again and loads the next page in 15s.
    So I need a very simple notice in the middle of the screen, that will just say "Take a break, don't click the button again, please! ... " and animate a clock, a bar or whatever, maybe disabling the window so the user will not be able to push buttons. (The users are annoying folk!)
    The message should dissapear as soon as the next (or the same) page loads.
    I've never did javascript, so if anybody has a simple example code, I will be grateful and give him a duke or two. (And I really don't need the AJAX super-components)

    Martin, best of luck, i fought this same problem last year.
    Even when I got a progress bar on my page, it would not "animate" as IE apparently does not animate gifs after a form is submitted (and before the page is destroyed). I think I eventually got around this by adding an onclick event to my form submit that reset the image.
    Best of luck.
    Ideally, is there anyway that we can get this IE behavior (page loads, waits for X times, page loads again correctly) fixed? This is highly confusing to my clients.

  • I need help: my ios 7 progress bar doesn't move anymore ???

    hellooo,
    so after a long time i decided to update my iphone to ios 7
    now the first progress bar was done in like 10 min but then
    the second started' tis bar was completed for like 1/4 of the bar and now it
    doesn't move anymore' and it's allready 2 hours now ..
    will this ever be oke or do i need to worry ?
    allready thanks.

    Hello Djegoo,
    I would be be concerned too if I was not able to update my iPhone.  If you have not resolved the issue, I recommend following the steps in the article below for an issue like this:
    iOS: Unable to update or restore
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
    As always, it is a good idea to create a backup before hand:

    Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
