Negative stock value

Hi All,
I am executing a stock aging report for a particular plant and for that plant I am getting negative stock values i.e. value of KF 0VALSTCKVAL is negative. I checked the values in MB5B and MC.9 for that plant and it is positive there. There are around 42000 materials in that plant so it is impossible to check value for each and every material.
I also checked OMJ1 transaction and found that "negative stock allowed" is ticked for the plant for which I am running the report. Does this impact the value of 0VALSTCKVAL keyfigure?
Kindly help me to get this issue resolved as I am new to inventory management.

Patel,
Check at MC.A by providing Month range(eg: From Jan 2000 to Apr 2009).
If value matching with MB51, then what is the issue...??
Also Check cureent total & valuate stock and Value for current month for same material.
I think you are displaying values in aging query based on receipts and issues based on posting date...!!
Showing some negative figures, i think.

  • Items with  zero stock quantity show negative stock value in Stock reports

When running Stock reports for controlling the stock value towards the GL accounts, some items appear with zero stock quantity, but the report still shows a stock value  (negative value in my case)
How can this happen, and how can I correct this situation ?
System parameters are :   negative stock is not allowed, Items with zero cost price not allowed. On item level average cost price method is used.

    Hi Johnsen,
I believe you have checked the" Manage Inventory by warehouse". I have noticed this issue in SAP B1 2005B but this is rectified in 2007B. The system behaves in this way as the system maintains item cost for the item for all warehouses and even if the stock is not present in the warehouse, the system would still show you a value for the same. Hope this helps. please search the forum. You'll find related threads.

  • Zero Quantity, Negative Stock Value in Inventory Audit Report

    Hi all,
The Cumulative Quantity of an item has become zero but the Cumulative Value in the Inventory Audit Report displayed as -150. How to adjust it to make it zero?
    Kindly advise, thanks.
    Regards,
    Xavier

    HI Xavier,
Mentioned below is teh detail from the note mentioned by J
    Symptom
In the Stock Audit Report, generated for a specific warehouse, a value is shown in the 'Cumulative Value' column even if the item does not have quantity.
    Cause
    Consulting
    Solution
The 'Manage Item Cost per Warehouse' setting in the Administration -> System Initialisation -> Company Details -> Basic Initialisation tab determines the information displayed in the Stock Audit Report.
'Manage Item Cost per Warehouse' is selected.
If this option is selected, each warehouse defined in SAP Business One maintains its own cost. This warehouse cost is calculated whenever there is a movement of the item in the specific warehouse.
When stocks are issued, the item cost will be from the specific warehouse where the stocks are issued.
The Stock Audit Report should be viewed per warehouse in order to determine the accurate valuation of the item. The option 'Group by Warehouse' can be used for this purpose.
'Manage Item Cost per Warehouse' is NOT selected.
If this option is not selected, a single cost is maintained for the item per company. This cost is determined by the movement of the item within all warehouses.
When stocks are issued, the single item cost determined on the company level will be used.
When the item cost is calculated per company, a stock value may remain in a warehouse which has zero quantity. However, since the cost is managed across all warehouses this is ok, as long as there is an overall positive quantity.
If the valuation of the item is required, the Stock Audit Report should be run for all warehouses and not for a specific warehouse. If the report is viewed per warehouse it may not provide an accurate cumulative value of the stock.
If only the quantity in a specific warehouse needs to be checked then the report can be run per warehouse.
    Example:
    1. Create new item with standard price 10 in all warehouses, since price is managed per company and not per warehouse.
    2. Create goods receipt for this item to two warehouses - quantity 10 to warehouse 01 and quantity 10 to warehouse 02.
    3. Create material revaluation, select warehouse 01 (only one warehouse can be selected for posting purposes), and change the price from 10 to 5.
    4. Create goods issue from warehouse 02 with issued quantity 10.
    5. Run the audit report for this item and:
    a) for all warehouses -> cumulative quantity is 10, cumulative value is 50;
    b) for warehouse 01 -> cumulative quantity is 10, cumulative value is 0;
    c) for warehouse 02 -> cumulative quantity is 0, cumulative value is 50.

  • How to revaluate negative closing stock value in SAP B1?

    Hi all,
I am trying to revaluate those items with the negative closing stock value using Inventory Revaluation. I choose Inventory Debit/Credit for the revaluation type and key in the item code, quantity, +ve value in debit/credit, G/L increase and decrease account.
After I added the Inventory Revaluation successfully , I go and check in the Inventory Audit Report for the specified item but found that the item still with the negative closing stock value.
My major concern here is the items with negative closing stock value do not have any in stock quantity. Can I adjust the negative closing stock value of the items with zero quantity?
    Thanks.
    Best Regards,
    Xavier

    Hi all.
Just found out why I cannot do the negative stock value revaluation. When I want to do the inventory revaluation for the items of negative stock value with zero quantity, the journal entry will debited to the wrong account, that is 507040-00-000 (Price Difference Account).
Inventory Revalution for item with zero quantity:

    Sample of Charts of Accounts:

When I do the inventory revaluation for the items where the in stock quantity is greater than zero, the journal entry will debited to the correct account, that is 105011-00-000 (Consumables account).
Inventory Revaluation for item with quantity greater than zero:

The items are under the same item group - Consumables

I do not why this will happen when I try to revaluate the items with negative stock value of zero quantity?
Kindly share with me your opions.

  • Negative Stock customising

    Hi Guru's,
we are doing implementation for one our client and client is asking to activate the negative stock functionality in SAP.
can anyone tell me is there any implications in activating the negative stock.
    Regards

    Hi,
Negative stocks can be utilized for a number of different business scenarios, for instance:
    1. If a material shipment is going to a customer, but the production has not yet confirmed (and there is not enough stock on hand to satisfy the requirement), instead of getting the "deficit of stock..." message when doing the issue for the delivery, the system will allow you to issue the material, and your inventory will show a negative quantity until the production confirmation is
    performed.
    2. I had a client who used this functionality to track component usage for their subcontractors.  They would confirm production for an entire month for the FERT materials produced by the subcontractor. Starting the month with zero stock for all components, then at the end of the month the value of the component stock (disregarding the negative sign) would be deducted from the amount they owed for the services performed. In this agreement, the components were "sold" to the subcontractor but no invoicing ever took place for the components.   Just a word of caution ...negative stocks/values for materials can raise many questions for accounting purposes at the end of fiscal periods.
There have been several reasons for using the negative stock functionality subject to the specific business requirements of your industry. Some of the reasons to use this negative stock feature due to the following :
    1) Sales of finished products to customers. We are cement producer and in an effort to avoid any delay in selling our products to our customers, we determined to allow negative stock posting since it is of our cement industry that cement after being packed will be delivered directly to our customers ie. no temporary storage is required.
    2) The alignment of inventory/stock movement with production process where due to some reason, the reception of raw materials and/or consumables was not maintained on time resulting in interruption of process order confirmation
As you know negative stock will have negative value, which will have direct impact to financials.   Say you have a material of Qty 10 Each, total worth $ 10.00 in stock and since you enabled negative stock in system ( valuation area level and plant- storage location level ) if you try to issue stock of say 20 Eaches, system will show stock of negative 10 and value $-10.00.
After that if you try to do goods receipt of say 20 eaches, of total value 20.00 material will have original status as you started. But if the value is different say 25.00, then moving average will be arrived from $15.

    1. load datasource 2lis_03_bx into the infocube
    2. compress the request -> check the flag "marker update". You have to refresh the stock (flag is not set).
    3. check the actual stock with a query. Compare it with the ERP - transaction MB5B.
    4. load the datasource 2lis_03_bf with INIT.

  • Stock value for stock transfer from depot (RG23D) to manufacturing (RG23A)

    Dear all,
The forum posts that I found are all relating to the process of how to do stock transfer from depot plant to manufacturing plant.
The question I want to post is relating to the transferred stock value.
When stock first goes into depot plant (RG23D), the excise duties (CVD, Education Cess, Higher Education Cess, Secondary Education Cess) are all inventorized. However, in manufacturing plant (RG23A), they are CENVATABLE and not inventorized.
In the transfer of stock from depot to manufacturing, how can we split out the stock value from depot and take out the excise duties to CENVAT in manufacturing plant?
If using Stock Transfer process (move stock from depot to manufacturing),
    1. Create Stock Transfer Order in ME21N using UD order type
            no accounting
    2. Create DO in VL10B and goods issue
During goods issue, moving average of stock in depot plant, will increase stock with the same value in manufacturing plant and reduce the stock value in depot plant. How can we reduce the stock value transferred to manufacturing plant by the original excise duties amount, and pass this amount into J1IEX? Is it done in this step or later steps?
Dr Stock into manufacturing plant  [this value by right, should be reduced as it consists of original excise duties in RG23D?]
            Cr Stock from depot plant
    3. J1IJ- RG23D selection for excise invoice for delivery at depot
        no accounting
    4. VF01 for proforma invoice
       no accounting
    5. MIGO into manufacturing plant (capture excise invoice)- part 1 register. the excise duties can be manually keyed in based on the original RG23D entries when stock is first brought into originating depot plant
         no accounting
    6. Enter Incoming Excise Invoice by J1IEX
         Dr CENVAT Input AED
         Dr CENVAT Input BED
         Dr RG23A ECess
         Dr RG23A SHECess
               Cr CENVAT clearing
    7. Question: Where to Debit CENVAT clearing? In normal domestic purchase process of raw materials into manufacturing plant, Dr CENVAT clearing will be posted during MIRO time.
If this process is not the correct way to do, please advise the standard SAP recommended way to transfer from depot to manufacturing plant.
    Thank you in advance.

You have to add the Excise duty condition types as a Delivery cost Pricing condition types in STO Pricing procedure and have used them in STO. In Pricing procedure, there is no concept of Deductible and Non Deductible. So, what ever the Delivery cost condition you add in Pricing procedure, the amount gets loaded on to the Material cost..To avoid this, a negative condition type needs to be inserted in Pricing procedure with a different accrual key.
You have to add One Positive condition and One Negative Condition type for the same. Negative condition type is to reduce the condition value from the Material cost during GI.
Try this scenario in development server and revert back with your observations.

  • Inventory Valuated Stock Value is not matching with R/3

    Dear Friends,
we are in a big mess.Needed your help urgently
We are in sap netweaver 2004s.We are implementing the standard business content only for one of our client. We have loaded the Inventory data into BW by following "How to handle the Inventory Management" document.
We have loaded the inventory data into 0IC_C03 using standard transferrules and update rules.
    The sequence we followed as:
    IN R/3
Filled the setup tables for during the posting free time(non-business hours)
    Stock intialization
    Material Movements
    Evaluations
    IN BW
We had loaded the data into only 0IC_C03 cube using standard update rules(no changes done)
2LIS_03_BX-Generate intial stock with no marker update unchecked
2LIS_03_BF-Full update with no marker update checked
2LIS_03_UM-Full update with no marker update checked
When we compared the data between R/3 and BW they are many materials "Valuated Stock Value" is not matching with R/3.For some materials value is matching with R/3 but for some other materials its not matching with R/3.Some materials are showing the negative figures for Valuated Stock Value.
But the valuated quantity value is exactly matching with R/3 for all the materials.
We have tryed to many ways in the past 10 days to find out the solution. We have followd the notes 589024 and implemented the formula. But no luck so far.
Needed your help..Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.
Please help us with your inputs.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Soujanya

    Hi Sudheer,
No We haven't implemented this note.
In start routine we already have the first start routine in the note.
    INSERT BEGIN
      loop at DATA_PACKAGE.
        if DATA_PACKAGE-stockcat eq 'V' or
           DATA_PACKAGE-stocktype eq 'V'.
          delete DATA_PACKAGE.
        endif.
      endloop.
if abort is not equal zero, the update process will be canceled
      ABORT = 0.
    INSERT END
We should comment the above start routine and follow the remaining section as below?
    ==========================================================
    Notes:
However, if you want a report of these consumption values, proceed as follows:
    1. Do not use the start routine listed above.
    2. Create two new key figures (cumulative values):
       1. Material consumption value (ZVERWERT, for example) with unit 0BASE_UOM
       2. Material consumption quantity (ZVERMENGE, for example) with unit 0LOC_CURRCY
    3. Include these in the InfoCube definition.
    4. Update these key figures from 2LIS_03_BF as follows:
    -> material consumption value:
    IF ( COMM_STRUCTURE-processkey EQ '100'   "Other Issues
        OR COMM_STRUCTURE-processkey EQ '101'   "Returns / Vendor
OR COMM_STRUCTURE-processkey EQ '104'   "Material Transfer

OR COMM_STRUCTURE-processkey EQ '106'   "Stock Adjustment Other
OR COMM_STRUCTURE-processkey EQ '110' ) "Issues from Stock
                                                "Transfers
       AND COMM_STRUCTURE-bwapplnm EQ 'MM'
only movements which are relevant for stock control
       AND COMM_STRUCTURE-cppvlc <> 0
       AND COMM_STRUCTURE-stockcat EQ 'V'
       AND COMM_STRUCUTRE-stocktype EQ 'V'.
    result value of the routine
        RESULT = -1 * COMM_STRUCTURE-cppvlc.
if the returncode is zero, the result will be updated
        RETURNCODE = 0.
    ELSEIF ( COMM_STRUCTURE-processkey EQ '000'   "Other Receipts
        OR COMM_STRUCTURE-processkey EQ '001'   "Goods Receipt/Vendor
        OR COMM_STRUCTURE-processkey EQ '004'   "Material Transfer/"Receipt
OR COMM_STRUCTURE-processkey EQ '005'   "Stock Adjustment InvD
OR COMM_STRUCTURE-processkey EQ '006'   "Stock Adjustment Other
OR COMM_STRUCTURE-processkey EQ '010' ) "Receipt from Stock
                                                "Transfer
only movements which are relevant for stock control
       AND COMM_STRUCTURE-cppvlc <> 0
       AND COMM_STRUCTURE-stockcat EQ 'V'
       AND COMM_STRUCUTRE-stocktype EQ 'V'.
    result value of the routine
        RESULT = COMM_STRUCTURE-cppvlc.
if the returncode is zero, the result will be updated
        RETURNCODE = 0.
      ELSE.
if the returncode is not equal zero, the result will not be updated
        RETURNCODE = 4.
      ENDIF.
if abort is not equal zero, the update process will be canceled
      ABORT = 0..
    -> material consumption quantity:
The code is the same, but COMM_STRUCTURE-cpquabu replaces COMM_STRUCTURE-cppvlc.
-> The characteristic value calculation is the same for the other key figures.
    5. Update these key figures from the 2LIS_03_UM in the same way.

  • Problem in putting the query condition for negative stocks.............

    Hi,
I am applying condition to display negative stocks.
Situation is like In the columns , I have key figure stock quantity and stock status(QI , blocked etc)
Accordning to the stock status column is created and all the materials are displayed for that status.
I have put condition on stock quantity to display only the negative stocks.
The result of the report is ok but in one case it is displaying stock qnty 1(positive stock) as well as the negative qnty for that material for different QI status.
I am not able to understant why this positive value is getting displayed in the report when I have put the condition , stock < 0 .
It is happening for only one material whose batch number is same and storage location is also same. But positive value is surpirsing me.
Please let me know if somebody has solution or idea how to solve this situation.

  • STO Stock in transit Negative stock

    Hi
    In Intercompany STO (2 step)
In Circumstances like, GR posted by recieving plant before the shipping plant make GI, the stock in transit in MMBE appears as Negative stock under Stock in TransitCC.
Can help to understand in detail please.
    thanks
    RG

    HI,
In this case, the negative indiactor indicates that, in-transit there is a no stock and hence it shows the negative sign.. If GI happens first, then MB5T will show the +Ve value. If GR happens first then it will show the negative and once GI posted it will be nullified.
We can automate in such a way that, an out put needs to be triggered from the GI document which will post the GR for the STO.

  • Why negative stock is possible for Moving avg price & not standard price?

why negative stock is possible for Moving avg price & not standard price?

    Hi,
Negative stock is available for both MAP as well as Std. price.
    Eg.
    MAP-->
    1. Mtl with MAP 1 Rs/pc & stock of 10qty.
    2. GI done for 15 pcs. Each pcs evaluated with 1Rs (MAP). Stock value reduce by 15Rs. Offsetting entry takes place in consumption account of 15Rs. The stock and stock value is -5 each.
    3. Post GR of 10pcs with PO price 3Rs/pc.
Now GR/IR should credited with 30Rs.
Negative stock (which issued) with 1Rs. But incoming mtl. is of 3Rs/pc. So difference of 2Rs for Qty 5 (Neg. stk) of 10Rs. will posted to Price Difference account. And remaining 20Rs posted to stock account.
Std. price.--> step 1,2 remain same
    3. Post GR of 10pcs with PO price 3Rs/pc.
Now GR/IR should credited with 30Rs.
Durin GR Stock account posting will be 10Rs but due to negative stk value the net stock value will be 5 Rs. Remaining 20Rs posted to price difference acct.

  • Allow negative stock on storage location

    Dear all,
When we allow negative stock on a storage location. At posting time we have an error "deficit stock of batch assignment". Anybody got a clue of what has to be done to correct this ???
    Cheers,
    Olivier

    Dear Oliver,
    Please do the following checks.
    Prerequisites
To work with negative stocks, you have to:
    · explicitly allow this in the Customizing system for each valuation area and storage location
    · set the indicator Neg. stocks in plant in the material master record of the individual materials (storage data)
Negative stocks are allowed for special stocks if you have activated negative stocks in the valuation area and for the special stock concerned in the plant. You do not need to activate negative stocks in each material master record.
    Procedure
You can define whether you want to allow negative stock by making the relevant settings for each storage type in Customizing.
To do this, choose Logistics Execution -- Warehouse Management--- Interfaces -- Inventory Management -
Allow Negative Stocks in Interim Storage Types --- Allow negative stock for each storage type in the Implementation Guide (IMG).
When the allow negative stock indicator is set, the system lets you post negative quants to the corresponding storage type.
Additionally, you can define whether you want the system to issue an error message (E) or a warning message (W) or no message (blank) when posting negative stock. You can make the relevant setting in the activity Control of System Messages in Warehouse Management. You can determine the notification type using the parameter MSV in the user master record.
To do this, choose System --- User profile --- Own data.
Then select the tab page Parameters.
Enter MSV in the Parameters field and enter the value with which you want to group certain users in the value field (for example 01).
Choose Logistics Execution ® Warehouse Management ® Interfaces ® Inventory Management ® Allow Negative Stocks in Interim Storage Types ® Control of System Messages in Warehouse Management in the Implementation Guide (IMG).
Create a new entry with the version number (Value) you have chosen and enter the desired system reaction in the Message Category field (E, W, or blank).
