Netcfg profile down causes issues

This may very well be a misunderstanding on my part, but lately I've encountered issues with netcfg and wpa_supplicant. I have no problems getting netcfg to start my wireless profile on start-up and everything runs smoothly unless I need to restart it for some reason. I type 'netcfg -d wifi' and it appears to disconnect just fine. However, when I go to restart my wifi profile, it spits out that /run/wpa_supplicant/wifi0 is still present and netcfg couldn't connect. I remove the file, but re-running the command still doesn't work and it reports a DHCP lease error.
I'm not sure why, but it looks like netcfg isn't properly cleaning up after itself when I take the profile down. I would think it would kill the associated wpa_supplicant process as it is no longer needed, but again I may not be understanding how these two programs work together. I've found a jenk work around and have appended the following line to my /etc/network.d/wifi profile so that when I take the profile down it kills off all wpa_supplicant processes.
POST_DOWN="ps -C wpa_supplicant -o pid | sed '1d' | sudo xargs kill -SIGTERM"
There has to be a nicer way of getting netcfg to tell wpa_supplicant to clean up than this. Any ideas? I should also mention I've upgraded entirely to systemd at this point, though I cannot say for certain if this was happening before the switch or not. Thanks in advance!

This is the best solution, because the password rules affect to every dialog user without exception.

  • Applications Start Page Profile Option Causing Issues

    Hello Oracle Gurus,
    I'm having an issue in a 12.1.3 instance that I think may be related to the "Applications Start Page" profile option.
    For testing purposes, we set the profile to a specific Self-Service page at the Site level. We eventually removed the Site level profile and added it at the user level just for specific users, but since the Site-level profile was set, every time we click the Home link in the upper right-hand navigation, we get an "unexpected error." If we attempt to log in as a user that does not have the Applications Start Page profile defined, we also get an unexpected error.
    After getting the error using either of the methods listed above, if we then try to navigate back to the login page, the instance throws a 500 Internal Error.
    If we close the browser and navigate to the instance again, we're able to log in without any issues with user accounts that have an Applications Start Page profile defined.
    Our "Self Service Personal Framework Mode" is set to "Framework Only" at the site level.
    Bouncing Apache seems to resolve the issue temporarily, but then it comes back again a few hours later...
    We've opened a Service Request, but has anyone else run into this before / have any ideas on how to fix it?
    Here are some related Metalink notes from 11.5.10:

    331814.1 (Error on Personal Home Page when returning to 'Home' link)
    Thanks!

    The issue is not specific to a responsibility or application.

  • Exchange upgrade causing issues with internal wiri...

    Recently our exchange was upgraded to accommodate bt infinity and at the same time our broadband started playing up. we called bt and I spent 1.5 hours checking and re checking equipment with the call center. Tests were done with the hub at either end of the internal wiring. All the tests were still showing faults even with hub connected to the test socket. They asked me to leave connected for 24 hours while they monitor the line. They promised to call me back which they did not. I called them again the following day to be told I should have left the hub in the test socket which I was not told the previous day. I then had to wait 48 hours while they monitored the line this time in the test socket. All the tests still showed the fault was still there so an engineer called out.
    The hub was still in the test socket when engineer arrived and the first thing he did was hook up his test equipment to the test socket and he stated there and then that there was nothing wrong with the line but it had been throttled down. 2 minute phone call and 10 minutes later broadband was back and working perfectly at the test socket. He checked the internal extention and the faults were being thrown up by an extension that has been in place for 10 years +. He stated to me that the new equipment installed in the exchange was more advanced and did more line checks so, although this equipment has been used for Internet with BT for 10 years it is no longer adequate.
    All of this I find understandable but the whole way that BT handled this from day 1 of my first call has been appalling. BT openly admitted that the original engineer calls were handled badly and we were credited £9 for the lack of services we had for overly long time. However we are now, 2 months after this, faced with nearly £130 charge for the engineer visit which, looking back with the info I have now, was completely unnecessary. Had the engineers on the phone bothered to reset the line while hub was in the test socket when they were allegedly monitoring it for 48 hours they could have told me there were no faults on their equipment up to the socket and I would have sorted out the internal wiring myself. Even now I can find mention on the Internet of old wiring causing issues but no specific posts to do with exchange upgrades potentially meaning that you need to upgrade internal wiring or mention by the BT call center itself on any of the calls I made to them. All I was told was that everything up to the main box is BT and everything after that mine but since we have made no changes to the wiring we did not think it was applicable until the engineer arrived and told us what he told us then. Yesterday I called Bt again around 9am to dispute the charge. I was informed that because the fault was with our equipment the charge stands. I explained all of the above and I had my case put to the review team. I was told I would get a call back within 4 hours which I did but the phone rang 3 times and as I answered they hung up. I then got a text saying they had tried to call and asked for me to call back which I did to be told that his computer wasn't working. He took my details and said someone would call me back which no one did. I chased again to be told that someone would definitely call me that day. No one did. I chased again today to be told the decision still stands. He has put to final review and promised a call back within 5 days. Until this is resolved direct debit is cancelled. To the letter of the contract we have with BT this is our charge to pay I know that but this could have been avoided if the information was out there on the net, if the original checks done over the phone were done correctly or if I had been told this directly by Bt themselves prior to the engineer being called out which is why I am posting this here so hopefully no one else falls into this trap.

    You're right I'm not connected to the BT infinity cabinet. But the BT Infinity cabinets all still route back through the exchange that I am connected to -
    http://www.ichilton.co.uk/blog/phones/faster-broadband-bt-infinity-fibre-to-the-cabinet-coming-to-in...
    Quote :
    What this modem does is connects using VDSL from your home to the VDSL cabinet using the existing copper wires, on to the DSLAM, back to the exchange (over the fibre) and on to BT’s core network.
    Your phone line is then still terminated in the original cabinet for telephony (using the cross connect between the old and new cabinets I mentioned above) and back to the exchange over the original multi pair copper cable as it always has done.
    http://www.robertos.me.uk/html/fttx.html
    Quote:
    FTTC involves BT Openreach installing a new street cabinet near to the existing one and linking the two. They run optical fibre from the exchange to the new cabinet then link individual lines from the old cabinet to the new one and back to get VDSL2 onto the copper connection to the premises. The PSTN phone connection continues to operate over the pre-existing cable from the old cabinet to the exchange.  It does not get put onto the fibre connection.
    In other words the linkage is Exchange >> Old >> DSLAM in New >> Old >> Premises. (Traffic in both directions of course!)
    Presumably the equipment in the exchange cannot stay as it is and is upgraded in the process?

  • BW system ran out of "session" = transaction SMGW; how to track down "resource" issues?

    Hi SAP Experts,
    we had on our SAP BW system the following situation:
    We are having a week daily process chains, that is uploading data from our ECC system.
    Once in a month, we are uploading from our APO/SCM system data from our BW system.
    Parallel we are having also SAP PreCalculation Server (with three PreCalc instances) instances running. The PreCalc Server is running daily.
    The landscape in short: (DB server = AIX/Oracle, App-Server = Linux, SAP System=7.01; PreCalc Server = Win2008/64)
    This week when all was running at the same time, we faced problems, that log-on to SAP System via ABAP took a long time, same BEx Reports (some failed with Run Time errors).
    From the landscape infrastructure we couldn’t detect any resource issues (we are having two application servers connected to the BW landscape).
    What we saw from the system transactions (SM66, SM51, SM21, ST02, ST04, ST06N) the issue did not seem to be resource based, by network, database, amount of work processes etc.
    But we noticed in transaction SMGW, that it seemed not possible for external programs, like a BEx reports or the PreCalc Server to connect with new session to the BW ABAP landscape.
    The trace showed in SMGW:
    *  LOCATION    SAP-Gateway on host server / sapgw##
    *  ERROR       Conversation 01792797 not found
    *  TIME        Tue Jul 22 14:13:03 2014
    *  RELEASE     720
    *  COMPONENT   SAP-Gateway
    *  VERSION     2
    *  RC          728
    *  MODULE      gwxxconn.c
    *  LINE        971
    *  COUNTER     75240
    In system log, database alert log, we could not find any dead locks reported or anything reported, that explained why, via the SMGW is was not possible to connect with new sessions.
    We restarted the PreCalc Server and after clarifying with application team of APO/SCM we stop the process chain and than the system was back to “normal” operation.
    Now the question is, if you faced similar issues and what the solution, or how you where able to track down the issue?
    Thanks for your ideas.
    Best regards
    Carlos Behlau

    Hi Alwina,
    thank you for your help.
    What I was able to is in SMGW, because the system was very slow, that some connection where "red".
    I forgot to capture screenshots and now I am not able to recall the the status text.
    It is there a way to find out, if we reach the "max" connection numbers, like parameter gw/max_conn 500, via ST03N or via SMGW or via some logs?
    I checked the SMGW trace, but I am not able to identify via the trace in SMGW, if the failures happened now, because max. values of parameters have been reached or what the cause was/is.
    What I meant:
    All external programs, like SAP BW BEx Analyzer (Excel Reporting tool for BW) are connecting via RFC calls. Also SAP Pre-Calculation Server is using RFC calls to generate the reports and send them via E-mail.
    Usually, I can see these connections in SMGW (goto => logon clients).
    There I didn't noticed that we reach 500, when we had the problem.
    Best regards
    Carlos

  • IOS 7 Safari (as well as OSX 10.9) Credit Card prompt "not now" causing issues

    Experiencing the same problem as this thread from stack overflow. safari on iphone/ipad http://stackoverflow.com/questions/21769058/ios-7-safari-as-well-as-osx-10-9-cre dit-card-prompt-not-now-causing-issues
    Safari on ios7 devices stops my form from submitting when it prompts to remember card.
    there must be a workaround other than pulling a pw field off the page???

    You can condense it down to a couple of options, shadowbeast, if you have a computer that is regularly maintained, not over-full, doesn't have much in the way of third party haxies installed, has had its directories checked recently, don't try to install the update while simultaneously running other software, etc etc. Trouble is in many cases such parameters aren't met!
    Using an update situation as an opportunity to undertake the general maintenance that should be done every month or so on any computer , (even if it is a Mac!) helps to forestall many other problems, too, as well as helping to ensure that the update process goes smoothly.
    I agree that the "Combo" update can be a good idea, sig, and I've usually done so in the past myself. In some circumstances it can certainly help to overcome problems that have arisen along the way. These days, however, the updates themselves tend to be very large (in this case the "combo" version is over 800 MB in size) and I'm very aware that many , many people use the smaller Software Update versions. These seem to be less problematic than they used to be in the past, though if anything is problematic after the installation downloading the Combo and re-installing it over the top of the SU version is a very good idea.
    I've been trying the SU updates regularly myself since SL arrived on the scene, and all have gone smoothly. Mind you, this has been on a couple of pretty well maintained machines.
    Cheers

  • Which RFCs causing issues in system

    Hi All,
    We have an issue with the RFC response times in CRM and need investigstion. We need to know Which RFCs causing issues in CRM and how we can solve the problems.
    Kindly let me know as earliest as possible.
    Regards

    have a look here:
    ST03
    Go to EXPERT MODE
    if the problem is happening now then you could use last minute load ( for a specific user for example)
    if you have no cllue , or it happens always:
    workload, Total , day, "today"
    in the analysys views: RFC Profiles
    now it depends on if you are using it as server or client, there you see all FM's called via RFC ; number of calls, total execution time, etc.
    Hope this is usefull;

  • Can too large a folder cause issues and effect performace of my Mac Pro

    Hi, I have a 180 gb folder filled with important data within my Home folder. This folder has a many subfolders as well. The folder is on my startup drive and where I have Snow Leopard installed. Can too large a folder cause issues with my mac and effect performance? Thanks

    another way to ask, would you make better use of, and improve I/O and performance, if you used your other drive bays? yes.
    Boot drives with even less than 50% free is probably not a good idea. All depends on whether 200GB is on 1TB or on 500GB drive. And how fragmented free space even.
    Lifting, loading and writing or copying 4GB files of course does have an impact, so if you work with 2GB files in CS5....
    Having a dedicated type boot drive, media drive (and isolate media and library files) as well as scratch drive is normally done with Mac Pro.
    The biggest bang in performance: lean mean SSD boot drive.

  • MovieClip Filter Causing issues with EventListeners (mouseEvent.ROLL_OVER)

    Hello,
    I have been working on a flash photo gallery for the web. It loads thumbnails from an xml file into a loader which is then made the child of a movieclip.
    The thumbnails are animated and triggered with mouse events of ROLL_OVER and ROLL_OFF. I have this working, or appearing to, when the movieclip containing the loaded thumbnail has no filters applied to it.
    I want add a drop shadow on the ROLL_OVER event and remove the drop shadow on the ROLL_OFF event. I also have this working, however my problem arises when I mouse over the very edge of the movieclip. This cauese the ROLL_OVER and ROLL_OFF function to fire in rapid succession, creating a flashing dropshadow. This looks aweful and I really have no idea what would be causing this issue.
    Thanks in advance for any advice!
    Regards.

    Thanks for the reply.
    I also found it difficult to believe that the filter was causing issues with the roll over/out events. I will expand on the example code you provided so you get an idea of what I am trying to accomplish and where my issues arise.
    EDIT: I should add that the issue is only present when I tween AND add a filter. If I only add a filter or if I only tween I have no issues but the combination or adding a filter and tweening causes the OVER/OUT events to fire rapidly.
    //This code does not result in a flashing animation
    myClip.addEventListener(MouseEvent.ROLL_OVER, overClip);
    myClip.addEventListener(MouseEvent.ROLL_OUT, outClip);
    function overClip(e:MouseEvent):void
       myTween =  new Tween(myClip, "scaleX", Regular.easeOut, myClip.scaleX, 1.5 , 3, true);
       myTween =  new Tween(myClip, "scaleY", Regular.easeOut, myClip.scaleY, 1.5 , 3, true);
    function outClip(e:MouseEvent):void
       myTween =  new Tween(myClip, "scaleX", Regular.easeOut, myClip.scaleX, 1 , 3, true);
       myTween =  new Tween(myClip, "scaleY", Regular.easeOut, myClip.scaleY, 1 , 3, true);
    //However if i add these lines of code to add and remove a filter I can observe the flashing effect when the mouse is near the edge of the moveclip
    myClip.addEventListener(MouseEvent.ROLL_OVER, overClip);
    myClip.addEventListener(MouseEvent.ROLL_OUT, outClip);
    function overClip(e:MouseEvent):void
       myClip.filters = [myDropShadowFilter];
       myTween =  new Tween(myClip, "scaleX", Regular.easeOut, myClip.scaleX, 1.5 , 3, true);
       myTween =  new Tween(myClip, "scaleY", Regular.easeOut, myClip.scaleY, 1.5 , 3, true);
    function outClip(e:MouseEvent):void
       myClip.filters = [];
       myTween =  new Tween(myClip, "scaleX", Regular.easeOut, myClip.scaleX, 1 , 3, true);
       myTween =  new Tween(myClip, "scaleY", Regular.easeOut, myClip.scaleY, 1 , 3, true);
    Is there something obviously wrong with this approach to adding a filter/tweening? I am fairly new to flash.
    Thanks again!

    Sounds like you may have been in extended display mode. If so, all you had to do was drag a window to the projector display. Or, if you wanted mirrored mode, in display preferences select check mirror display.

  • [SOLVED] Configuring and using a netcfg profile

    Hi guys,
    As per the Beginner's Guide I have been trying to set up netcfg to use my network configuration profile https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Be … de#Wired_2
    I can successfully setup network connectivity every time I boot using the 'ip addr add 10.1.0.8/8 dev eth0' and 'ip route add default via 10.0.150.1' commands but ideally I'd like a static IP setup automatically.
    I have installed ifplugd and successfully enabled net-auto-wired.service using systemctl.
    I have created my profile here '/etc/network.d/ethernet-static'
    CONNECTION='ethernet'
    INTERFACE='eth0'
    IP='static'
    ADDR='10.1.0.8'
    GATEWAY='10.0.150.1'
    DNS=('10.0.0.17' '10.0.0.18')
    Now when I manually run 'netcfg -u ethernet-static' it fails and I can't for the life of me work out why...
    Is there any other information I could provide? As I said I can use the 'ip' commands to connect using the same addresses.
    Please help! Many thanks

    According to the netcfg-profiles man page, the netmask value defaults to /24. So your interface is being configured with a 10.1.0.8/24 address, thus making the 10.0.0.0 network (where your gateway resides) unreachable.
    You have to specify your /8 netmask explicitly, e.g.:
    CONNECTION='ethernet'
    INTERFACE='eth0'
    IP='static'
    ADDR='10.1.0.8'
    NETMASK=8
    GATEWAY='10.0.150.1'
    DNS=('10.0.0.17' '10.0.0.18')
    Genius! Thank you so much, it's working now.
    I was trying to use journalcfg, however I couldn't work out how to filter it properly or just show the last 20 or so entries.... But anyways problem solved.
    Kudos to you p0x8
    Thanks all!

    I searched internally, and I couldn't find any information related to this issue applied to SharePoint 2013, it shouldn't exist in SharePoint 2013.
    Thanks,

  • Exception while calling native profiler (root cause: no message available [

    Hi,
    We are setting up MAM30 using the new technology (NWMADMIN). During sync. I get the error message "Exception while calling native profiler (root cause: no message available [java.lang.reflect.Invocat...". Can anyone help me on this?
    Thanks
    Kind regards
    Jacob

    Hi Jacob,
    I once faced this problem(no in MAM though)
    I will try to guess the solution to your problem,
    1) My first guess would be that, the header file in MAM30 using the 'javah' tool, did not pass the fully qualified name of the class as the argument. The 'javah' tool will not complain and will produce an incorrect header file.
    2) The Native method names wouldnt have got a match for the java method names, might be missing the package name. here you need to import the missing ones.
    3) Or you would be calling static native methods using objects, it should be accessed in a static way. you can call them directly.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards
    Divya.
