Network Confusion During Installation (Dual LAN Motherboard)

Perhaps someone can shed some light on this situation...I was installing Arch on my system last night, following the official Installation Guide, and ran in to some networking confusion.  I have a DFI LANParty NFII Ultra B motherboard, which has two NICs onboard (Realtek 8110S & ICS 1893Y PHY) and I've always just used the one Ubuntu chose by default.
During the installation, I successfully probed for the proper network module...however, upon trying to configure my network with DHCP it could not connect.  Nothing in my hardware setup had changed, and my router was working as it should.  Eventually I thought of trying to switch my cable into the other NIC on the motherboard to see if that one had been detected.  It worked!  At that point, I was able to download all of the BASE packages and complete the installation, but as soon as I rebooted the machine for the first time, I noticed that it would not configure the network once again.
On a whim, I decided to switch the cable back to the original NIC, and was flabbergasted when it started working.  You'll have to fogive me, as I'm somewhat of a Linux n00b, but I was hoping that someone could tell me why this would have happened, and also how to check and see if both NICs are configured properly.  Thanks...

it depends on the order in which the modules are loaded... first loaded is eth0, second is eth1 - if you want to force them to be specific devices, add the following to /etc/modprobe.conf
alias eth0 <module for first NIC>
alias eth1 <module for second NIC>

Hmm. Sorry I must not be making my question clear. I've already downloaded and run the setup package. All of the software is already installed.
I'm having trouble establishing a wireless connection to the printer. When I try to do that I get this:
Any ideas on what to do here? The driver file doesn't exist in any of the Windows directories I was directed to look in.
In fact, I don't even know if it should be in any of those directories. The advice I was following there was with regard to a Windows XP issue. And I'm on Windows 8.1.

    Hi,
I'm trying to install html db v10.2.0.1 and http server on the Fedora Core 4 platform and am getting a "Network Adapter could not establish connection during installation" error. This occurs after pressing Next at on the Specify HTML DB Database Details dialog box. Note that I'm not new to oracle databases or html db. I can't seem to find a similar thread on this forum related to the html db v2 install and I've read the FAQ related to the installation, making sure that I unset the TNS_ADMIN and ORACLE_HOME environment variables before launching the installer. I also checked that I can connect to the database via the listener, sqlplus sys@database as sysdba. I checked the listener status:

  • Change required ports during Network Monitor's installation

    Hi everyone,
    i've found a conflict with port 8009.
Network monitor requires it as free during installation, but an instance of a Tomcat server is already using it. As I can't change tc config, I need to know if there's another way to install NM in which I could assign that port to another one that is free.
    Thanx in advance!

  • Network error during flash player installation

I accidentally deleted the previous version of flash player and am now trying to download the new version. Can anyone help me with a 'network error' I am getting during installation on internet explorer 8.  There is no problem with the network as I am working on the internet with no other problems.   According to IE8, it has a cipher speed of 128-bit.  I have tried the following:
    - turning off anti-virus software
    - changing security settings as per a previous post
    - manually installing (could not download the file)
    - running the uninstall software even though no other version is showing on my list of applications - could not access the .exe file
    - using a different web browser.  The problem was worse in the case of Opera and Firefox as the download did not start at all in those cases
This is very frustrating and does not seem to be a common problem.  Can anyone help me?

Hi, Download and SAVE the Uninstaller to your Desktop:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html
Download and SAVE the Installer for IE to your Desktop ( Use the EXE Installer)
    http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/fp_distribution3.html
Download and SAVE the Installer for the non-IE browsers to your Desktop from the same link as IE (Use the EXE Installer)
Close all browser windows, disable any messenger services in your system tray(area near the clock)
If you use Norton or McAfee, disable them also.
Be sure to use the Administrator Account.
Then RUN the Uninstaller and when finished, Reboot(restart) your computer.
Then RUN the Installer for IE, then the Installer for the non-IE, then Reboot.
    Test here when finished: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
If you have any questions, provide your OS and browser versions of the non-IE ones when replying back.
    Thanks,

  • Hyper-V 2012 R2. RemoteFx. "The remote session was disconnected because there were network problems during the licensing protocol. Please try connecting to the remote computer again."

After a Installation from Windows 8.1/windows 7 everything works fine. For example  Install updates and Software. If I connect the first time a remotefx card i can use RDP as well. But if i restart the host I get the mentioned error. What can I do. These
Hosts are not in a domain configuration. I tried it too but there was  no difference. I didn't discovered any errors in the eventlog, too. Only an actviex error. But same errors occurs with a succsefull rdp session.
Also strange is if i start the vm without a remotefx card it works fine again. Only session with a Remotefx card aren't possible anymore.
Is there a bug or something. I tried it many times with the same error.
    Maybe someone can help me.
    kind regards
    Tobi

    Hi Tobi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
For a workaround, please try to perform the two steps.
    1. Do NOT enable RDP 8 on the Windows 7 SP1 VM.  You should install RDP 8 and update the ICs though.
    2. Change the connection setting on the client from "Automatically detect" to "LAN"
Please check again below thread for information.
    a. "The remote session was disconnected
because there were network problems during the licensing protocol" after enabling RemoteFX Windows 8 VM
    (Please recheck answer by “dgeddes”)
    b. "The remote session
was disconnected because there were network problems during the licensing protocol" After Installing RemoteFX
    Hope it helps!
    Thanks,

  • Support for Dual LAN "Teaming"

I bought a WRT600N router, which was far & away the most expensive (& only) consumer wireless dual band router available at the time + 2 compatible Ultra Range Plus USB receivers.  Apparently Linsys/Cisco decided to scrap this model & any further support--still ver. 1.0 firmware (from 2008).  OK, so repeat businessis not high on their priorities.
I recently completely upgraded my hardware to an Intel 1156 platform running Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit.  The new motherboard, a Gigabyte GA-P55-UD5, has "dual LAN" support that allows "teaming"--potentially 2GB support & auto-switching if one port is not functional.  Apparently it requires a router that has "IEEE 802.3ad" capabilities.  As far as I can tell, this potentially REAL nice feature is not supported, & the failure to update the firmware suggests it never will be.--bought their "Network Magic" Pro software to add another $50.
So the question is this: am I correct--no dual LAN support is built in & never will be--or is there a way use this functionality?  Suffice to say, if I paid about $420 for the router & USB receivers where if other router DO support it on the consumer level, I'll never consider a Linksys/Cisco product in this lifetime.
Thanks for whatever clarity anyone can offer.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I would say teaming is no consumer router feature. If you really need a 2 Gb/s connection of a single device to your network I wonder to which other device it should communicate with that speed. It can't be a single other device because that would only have 1 Gb/s unless you team the remaining two ports as well. (Not to forget that most consumer-level desktops are not even fast enough to deliver or receive data at that rate even if they have a Gigabit ethernet port).
If you have a set of other devices which in combination require 2 Gb/s server access then you'll have the same problem again: you have to connect them somewhere which means you need a switch which must be connected to the remaining two LAN ports. But then you could just as well get a switch which supports teaming and enough ports and connect everything there. Of course, an ethernet switch which supports teaming is usually some "intelligent" managed switch which easily costs more then your WRT600N.
Thus I think teaming will never be supported on any consumer Linksys device. If you need then you have to look at the Cisco Small Business series or better. They have some devices which support 802.1q VLANs and thus potentially also 802.3ad. Although even then I doubt it because considering the number of ports available on those devices it does not really make a lot of sense to support it at least on a 4 port router. Consumer and SOHO devices are not made for internet connections of 1 Gb/s or more. Thus you can only use the speed inside the LAN but with 4 ports that would be difficult... Thus I would say by design these routers do not support teaming. If you need teaming inside your LAN get a managed switch...

  • Windows XP can't connect to OfficeJet 4630 during installation

Just bought a new OfficeJet 4630 and am very excited to use its wireless features. I got it connected to our in-home wireless router (Netgear) very easily, typing the WEP key right into the printer's keypad. I was subsequently able to install it on my DELL Latitude, from which I can print wirelessly or plugged in to USB, as well as cloud printing and ePrinting. Test pages, alignment pages, etc., all have printed just fine. My wife's acer netbook is another story. She's running Windows XP and has hit a major snag in the installation process. Whether we install the software and drivers from the internet download location specific to the OfficeJet 4630 or with the included CD, it makes it past the step of installing software but encounters an error when it is time to connect to the printer. The software has us choose whether to connect wirelessly, over USB, or later, and following the on screen instructions for either wireless or USB leads to the same error: The computer is unable to connect to the printer at this time.
During installation, when we choose to connect wirelessly and the installation software shows us a list of network printers to choose from, the OfficeJet shows up and we can select it - we can also find it by typing in the IP Address (10.0.0.9) into the Advanced Search bar. We can type the IP address into the web browser and see the printer's EMS and edit various options. We've made sure that my wife's computer is on the Workgroup MSHOME (since I read somewhere that OfficeJets only like to work on that workgroup and not any others). I've followed every other possible instruction given by either HP or these forums (disabling firewalls, startup services, uninstalling and re-installing HP software, etc.) and still, every time, a connection error whether we use Wi-Fi or USB.
We are getting really desparate to use this beautiful machine to its fullest potential - someone please help!

What is the IP address of your modem?  What is the IP address of the router?  With a 10.x.x.x IP tells me you may have a double NAT situation at home.  This basically means your router will change it's IP to 10.x.x.x because it's default IP is the same as the modem. Connect just to your modem and what is the IP?  Now connect JUST your router, no other connection to the modem, and what is it's IP?
You can use a cmd prompt and just type in ipconfig.  What is listed as the Default Gateway for both?
Say thanks by clicking the Kudos Thumbs Up to the right in the post.

That does not automatically start your instance. Have a look at the shortcuts SAP installed in your startmenu. There's both a startscript and a stopscript.

  • Apples update didn't work for me: Boot Camp: iMac displays a black screen during installation of Windows 7

Boot Camp: iMac displays a black screen during installation of Windows 7 - Apple Support
I have followed each of the steps listed in the link above with no success.
Prior to adding the extra drivers I was able to start the Windows install process up to reformatting the "Windows" Bootcamp drive. After that the computer would go through some instal processes and eventually restart. After the restart the screen would go black. The black screen lead me to the  Apple Support link above dated March 5 2015. After going through steps listed in the link above, I get an error message stating that the D:\Sources\instal.win. file cannot be located. I am forced to restart the computer at that point and theWindows install process attempts to start again but always ends up at the same point.
Note: I am installing windows 7 Pro from a DVD. I scanned the AutoUnattend.xml file and noticed that it refers to "Windows 7 ULTIMATE" but not "Pro" or any others that I could see. (see below). Could that be part of the issue?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Here is an over-simplified explanation of WIM and CLG files. Assume your DVD Media contains
    W7- Ultimate
    W7- Professional
    W7- Home Premium
    W7- Home Basic
    WIM Files
    File1
    y

    y
    File2
    y
    y
    y
    y
    File3
    y
    File4
    y
    y
    File4
    y
    y
    y
The File .wim will contains a compressed image which contains File [1...5].
The W7-Ultimate .clg will have 5 entries, with all set to 'Y'.
The W7-Professional .clg will have 5 entries, with 'Y','Y','N','Y','Y'.
The W7-Home Premium  .clg will have 5 entries, with 'Y','Y','N','N','Y'.
The W7-Home Basic .clg file will have 5 entries, with 'Y','Y','N','N','N'.
This allows a single .wim Image file on the DVD media to be used to install any of the 5 flavors of Windows. When you enter your product key, the Installer knows what specific W7 variant you have the key for and will tell the WIM to extract the specific files the installer needs to be extracted.
    The following line
    <cpi:offlineImage cpi:source="wim:d:/sources/install.wim#Windows 7 ULTIMATE" xmlns:cpi="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:cpi" />
is telling that a retail product key will be entered, which should go look for this specific .clg file (from the five you already have on disk).  You can test if it will work for you by changing this line to the following
    <cpi:offlineImage cpi:source="wim:d:/sources/install.wim#Windows 7 PROFESSIONAL" xmlns:cpi="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:cpi" />
If it does not work, the other issue can be related to device discovery. Typically A: and B: device names are reserved for Floppy Drives. C: is your internal HDD.
D: can either point to the Optical drive, or the USB. The normal convention is that the removable media is named from Z: backwards. Y: and Z: are usually used for Network drives, so X: should be your USB. First try with the change to "Professional". If it does not work,

  • Why isn't dhcp set as default in rc.conf during installation?

Seems to me that it should be. Thoughts?

    As far as I'm concerned:
I don't know if this is the issue that the OP is referring to, but something like this happened to me during a few installs (non-FTP): the default rc.conf had some completely arbitrary static IP address defined and enabled by default.  I always thought that the 'dhcp' option (and perhaps a static IP example commented out for reference) would have been a better default setting -- just a simple way to make many if not most network setups work out of the box.  The arbitrary static IP configuration is unlikely to work on too many systems, so I could never quite figure out what it was doing there enabled by default.
It's mostly an aesthetic preference.  Like I said -- it's not a huge issue, I usually just change the whole thing when I edit rc.conf during installation.

During installation, the installer hangs when the progress indicator showed 3%. After stopping the installation, a windows pops up indicating problems with RPC. At this time, the icon of Creative MediaSource is present on the desktop. However, the software does not show up in the Add/Remove Program List (in control panel). In this way, I cannot remove the software cleanly. Is this a hardware or software problem?
Please help me to solve this problem.
Ian addition, are there any other softwares for conversion of music format?

    chiu,
What is the exact RPC error messages? See if these article helps and fits the bill.
