Network Connection Properties Access Standard Users

Hi All,
I know this is an old issue but i just cannot get it going i've read a couple of forum posts but i don't know whether i am still doing it correctly.
I am trying to allow domain users to change their network connection properties to allow change of ip addresses as it is slightly different between our 2 offices locally.
So i have added the users in to the network configuration operators group and also i have disabled the UAC as
follows

Hello again,
Is NetworkOP a Security group?
Also have you checked the client's PC and verify if the following group is added in Network Operators group?
Do you see any errors in RSOP.msc when you try to see the applied policy?
Please try to logon with different users in NetworkOp group and check if they have access or not?
Do you have any other policy related to prevent access to network properties?
User configuration \ Administrative templates \ Network \ Network Connection is a case in point.
Another step is to make sure the Network Operators group itself is operational, so please create a user locally (Not Administrator) and add it to the Built in Network Operators group and see if they have access to properties.
Regards.

  • Windows 8 - Right Click Network Connection Properties - An unexpected error occurred

    Hi,
I'm encountering an issue with a relatively new Windows 8 Pro x64 install (Been running about a week).
When attempting to right click on the Network Connection and select "Properties", I receive the following error:
    "An unexpected error occurred"
The error also occurs when trying to disable the adapter. The network connection DOES work though. I have received an IP from my DHCP router and have network/internet access.
I have tried the Windows XP/7 "fix":
    1. Click Start, and then click Run.
    2. In the Open box, type regsvr32 %systemroot%\system32\netshell.dll, and then click OK.
    3. In the RegSvr32 dialog box, click OK.
Test to see if you can open the properties of the network connection in the Network Connections folder.
    1. Click Start, and then click Run.
    2. In the Open box, type regsvr32 %systemroot%\system32\ole32.dll, and then click OK.
    3. In the RegSvr32 dialog box, click OK.
    4. Restart the computer.
Both did NOT work. I have also attempted uninstalling and reinstalling the Network Driver. I have also tried "SFC /scannow".
    Neither of these worked either.

  • Oracle Provider connectivity issues in 2008 server (for Standard Users)

    Hi
We're using Windows 2008 R2 server and installed a VB application. The application has the capability to connect to Access, SQL Server or Oracle Datbase using OLEDB providers. When I login as "Administrator", the application connects to all three databases.
But, When I login as "Standard user" in the server and try to connect to the Oracle Database (using Oracle OLEDB provider), the application errors "Database server doesn't exist or Access denied".
We are using Oracle 10g (oraops10.dll, version 1.102.2.20) client. We have also provided the full access rights to "Authenticated Users" and "Users" account in the server and still get this error.
Any suggestions/ideas, why this error occurs?

    I don't think, you're correct.
As mentioned in my post, the application works fine when I logged as "Administrator". Only for the "Standard users" logins, the application doesn't work.
The Windows Server restricts the oracle database connectivity for the standard users. My questions, does oracle require "special permission" for certain folders, so the standard users can connect to the oracle database.?

  • 2nd Computer Requires a Manual Wireless Network Connection Setting on Powerup

2nd Computer Requires a Manual Wireless Network Connection Setting on Powerup
On power-up, my 2nd computer, a 3 yo IBM R51, requires that I open the Network Connections window, then set the Wireless Network Connection Properties under the Wireless Network Tab, clicking on "Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings", before the automatic connection launches to the WRT150N v1.1 router signal.
I just bought the router and have the latest firmware.
My primary computer does not require the above settings change every time.
Is there a selection I can make so this is automatic on power-up or restart of my 2nd computer?

It was already set to automatic on both extended and standard tabs.
For a good measure, I set it to disable, applied, then reset it to automatic and applied again. Still does same thing.
I notice that if I double click on the small icon for the Intel ProWireless Network Card, I get a Wireless Connection Status Window.
This window has a Wireless Settings section where it seems to have a possibly obsolete "Current Location Profile" called ssnetwork (the name of my old network on my old D-Link router that I just changed out for the Linksys.
Anyway, the Network Name (SSID) field is now blank but when it first came up, it had the new name of the network I'm using.
Do you know how I access this "Current Location Profile" so I can edit it and possibly enter my new network name?
There is a button at the bottom of the screen called "Modify WLAN Settings" that I click but nothing launches when I do so.
Now that I manually did the connection setting, my network name appears in the "Current Location Profile."

  • OS 10.4.6. has broken dialup connectivity when using fast user switching

I installed OS 10.4.6. It seems to have broken dialup connectivity when using fast user switching when switching from one user to the next.
For dialup, it is extreamly annoying that I can not resume downloading a file from were it got cut off, but now, if another user wants to check their email, my download always gets broken and has to be restarted. Dialup is slow enough with out having to start from scratch even more frequently, now.
Also, in earlier versions of 10.2 or 10.3 (I don't remember which), I was able to switch users and maintain listening to a single users' iTunes.
I would like to be able to switch users and not lose either my dialup network connection or the primary users currently playing iTunes songs.
Perhaps for iTunes, one should be able to chose to mute another users' instance of iTunes, if it is currently playing.
    Mini-Mac 1.42GHz 80GB BT/AE   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

I have not tried replicating this but might be able to provide some additional information.
We use network login accounts on our desktop computers. Fast User switching deliberately will not work for multiple network login accounts. (Remember network login accounts normally also have an associated network home directory mounted via AFP.)
Now a bit of background about volumes and mount points under Mac OS X. Under Mac OS X, any additional drive (or more accurately 'volume') is listed under the 'Volumes' folder, remember also that Mac OS X is a Unix operating system. So just as normal for Unix, the boot drive is '/' or the root level and Volumes is a folder in it. The underlying Mac OS X software automatically 'attaches' and additional volumes as sub-folders in the 'Volumes' folder (in Unix speak these are called 'Mount Points'), if you have an external hard-disc called 'Fred' then this would be represented by the following path
    /Volumes/Fred
If you happen to have two volumes with the same name connected at the same time then while in the Finder they may show up with the same name, in Unix they would have different names automatically assigned to keep them separate like so
    /Volumes/Fred
    /Volumes/Fred 1
Now getting back to the Fast User switching problem and AFP volumes, when you login to a File Server volume it also is automatically added to the Volumes folder, so if we have a File Server volume called 'Shared' it would look like
    /Volumes/Shared
With Fast User switching potentially both user accounts could be accessing the same /Volumes/Shared which means both user accounts would be talking to the server via the same File Server login, hence the possibility for one of the Fast User accounts to be using the 'wrong' permissions.

  • Juniper networks VPN: Network Connect will not install under Snow Leopard

Created different thread based on the topics from http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2130935.
With new install of Snow Leopard i get the following when trying to log into SSL VPN "Could not launch. Please restart the web browser and try again"
can not do the workarounds from the above thread since none of the directories exist. Has anyone found a fix for this?

I ran into this too (made matters worse by cleaning out the old juniper install). What I understand clearly now, which other discussions with all the happiness from people saying they fixed it seem to miss completely: Juniper only works if you installed it prior to upgrading 10.6. If you did not, you are possibly hosed.
Now, I was hosed, but I found a workaround. Find a stand-alone installer .dmg out there. As of a couple days ago it was there. I'm sure it still is. Google it. NetworkConnect.dmg.
It is version 6.0.0. It installs correctly. My company runs 6.4.0, which means the first time you open NetworkConnect after installing it prompts you to upgrade. The upgrade worked fine, so long as I was running as root.
Which brings me to my original problem which I've not seen anyone else complain about, which has me worried: after installing, NC only actually connects and functions when I run as root. I'm not talking about su - root or using sudo, I mean having to graphically switch users and log into the computer as the root user (after enabling it...using the scenableroot I think, something like that).
Has anyone else seen this behavior? I can launch Network Connect as my real user but it immediately fails with a software error. 'ncproxyd.error: Failed to gain root privileges'. Driving me batty.

  • How to recover from forcing a reboot in safemode without network connections

    hi,
I have a hp datavault x510, running windows home server. i wanted to remove a antivirus program which could only be completed when you rebooted in safe mode and deleted it. i forced the datavault to reboot into safemode however i didn't choose the option that says boot into safe mode with network connections, instead i choose without network connection.
since the datavault works through my router i of course need a network connection to access it. i tried to see if the it had a vga/dvi/hdmi connection so i could hook up a monitor to it but is doens't.
is there a way to reset the box to get it out of the forced safemode boot without network connection?

  • Access Connections on Windows 7 with Standard User Privilege

My company is developing a Windows 7 Professional image based on Lenovo’s factory build. One of the key objectives to this image is to get our users away from being Administrators (admin) on their systems to greatly reduce the security risks associated with admin privileges. One of the ThinkVantage utilities we have found most valuable to our laptop users is Access Connections (AC). In our initial testing we have found that AC does not allow for the creation or modification of connection Profiles as a standard user.
Is there any way to configure AC so it does not require admin privilege to create and manage profiles?
    Thanks

    Hi,
yes, the previous post is the correct one.
Just one note, in case you want to deploy some network connections to multiple users, then you can use the .LOA files, where you can also distribute specific configuartion settings for the end user. All that is needed, once the .LOA file is on please is to restart the both AC services and you are ready to go.
This is just a note, in case you have >1000 users which you would like to administrate.
    Cheers

  • Enable and Disabling the Network Adapter with domain user (Standard User)

    Hi Guys.
We setup a active directory in our organization. Added client systems(Windows 7 and Windows 8) to the Domain. Domain users are accessing the system with standard users permission. I don't want to give Administrator permissions. But user should able
to Disable and Enable network Adapter without giving the administrator permissions. Please suggest .
Thanks in advance for the help :)

    Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want the standard user has the permission to disable/enable network adapter.
I recommend you to implement this function by group policy:
User configuration - Administrative Templates – Network - Network connections
    Enable this policy:
Ability to enable/disable a LAN Connection
Besides, you may consider of joining users to Network Configuration Operators Group, detailed information you may reference:

  • Error message "network connection reset" only affects one user

I'm running 10.3.9 on a 400Mhz iMac. I have 3 users, myself and my 2 kids. When I try to access a web page using Safari on one of the kid's user accounts I get an error message saying that the server cannot be contacted because the "network connection has been reset", and says to try again later but never works. The odd part is that the other two user accounts can access web pages with no problem.
I have checked my network settings, all user settings/limitations, restarted the computer and modem, tossed all cache and bookmarks for the affected user and placed the com.safari.plist from the user/library/safari folder on the desktop. Still get the same error message.
I would create a new user name but had a hassle with file permissions when I put the old user files in the new user folder.

I see you have Windows Firewall turned on. Do you happen to have any other firewalls or anti-virus in conjunction with this? Sometimes having both turned on will cause issue. Try disabling all of your anti-virus and firewall software and trying again.

  • Std 9.0 + Access 2007 + network connection, PDFMaker not working anymore

    Hello,
when i try to create a PDF file from an Access report, it isn't working anymore when i have a network connection. It worked for months, but yesterday Access 2007 crashed and it asked to deactivate the COM Add-In from PDFMaker and my Co-Worker clicked on yes while i was absent. So even after reactivating the Add-In and reinstalling the whole Acrobat Standard, i can't create any PDFs anymore from Access 2007 while i have a active network connection. When i plug off my network cable, it's working, as soon as i plugin the network cable again, it's not working anymore. And it only happens in Access 2007, PDFMaker in Word, Excel etc is still working fine.
Anyone got some ideas or solutions?
    Best regards
    Chris

Can you create a PDF by printing to the printer? It sounds like you may simply need to do a repair to Acrobat.

  • How to access VPN Connection properties in Win 8.1

    Win 8.1 pro 64 bit
I setup a VPN connection to my company host server. When I try to connect, I get no EAP protocol installed on the Win 8.1 system. I googled and it said to open VPN properties (like I have done before); however, I cannot find the open VPN properties function.
I right click on the VPN and it does nothing. It did work in win8. How do I get to VPN properties to add EAP to the VPN connection?
    THX
    John Lenz

To access to your VPN properties you should navigate to Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network Connections. From there, you will see all of your network connections, including any existing VPN connections. If you right click on the VPN connection
in question, you will see "properties" listed at the bottom of the list and EAP settings can be modified under the security tab.  Let me know if you have trouble.

  • Error:Make sure user mapping is correct & all connection properties r right

    Hi,
I am using SRM 5.0 and EP 7.0 I had imported the verify.der certificate of portal on SRM and changed the profile parameters of SRM to accept tickets.
And now after creating a system object for Srm on Portal I tried to test the connectivity and it shows the following error.
"Connection failed. Make sure user mapping is set correctly and all connection properties are correct."
    ANy ideas? Please advice.
    Swetha

My simple rule is to ignore the message as the test tends to give false negatives. Instead try to access the system with an iView, such as SAP transaction, or use System admin -> support -> SAP application -> scroll down to SAP transaction.

  • Disabling DataSocket Access to Specific Network Connection

    Hi Group,
I have DataSocket server running on a PC with two active LAN connections (2 x Network cards).  The main connection is to our corporate LAN/WAN.  The secondary connection is to a fixed set of several computers for our monitored process.
The way the system is currently configured, the Datasocket server broadcasts datasocket data to both connections.  For this application I want to disable data broadcast on the Corporate LAN while retaining it on the secondary LAN system.
Is there a setting in Datasocket Server that I can use to prevent it from broadcasting to the primary network connection?
Is there some other solution (eg. Port blocking) etc that I can use that may be more suitable to this requirement?
    Any advice is appreciated,
    Thanks,
    Laurie

    Hello,
I don't think I understand exactly the functionality you are looking for.  Is it that you would like DataSocket to be available on the LAN, but not to someone who imitates a valid IP address?  This would be tricky, because it comes down to a network security problem I guess.  The server can be launched and configured programmatically; would it be possible to monitor and change the number of allowed connections to restrict imitations?  That is, you could have an application which allowed a user to login... if they login, they get access and you increment the number of allowed connections.  When they logout, you would decrement the number of allowed connections.  This way you would at least have the added security feature that a user would have to know certain login parameters in order to gain access, and not simply connect a PC to the network.  i realize there would be some details to deal with if this is even sufficient, but perhaps you can comment on the plausibility of this, and perhaps clarify precisely what network activity you would like to restrict!
Thank you, and I hope we can find a clean solution to this problem!
