Network Error: Cannot Send Data (1042012) in Hyperion Planning

I am using Hyperion Planning 11.1.2.1
I'm getting this error when i'm trying to refresh my Planning database.
Com.hyperion.planning.olap.EssbaseException: Network error [%s]: Cannot Send Data (1042012)
Any suggestions?

First make sure your essbase is up and running. If it is then:
Increase the values for NETDELAY and NETRETRYCOUNT.
Check the index cache size, data cache size, and data block size to make sure that they are within the recommended ranges.
How to do it and how much to set, you will get this information in Essbase database administrator's guide:

Planning rfresh error - Network error, cannot send data

Hi, While refreshing the Planning from the desktop, it gives the above error after doing all the 41 steps. Incidently we noticed that while doing the restructuring of the the data base by planning desktop, the Essbase cube is being stopped. We tried NetworkDelay, NetworkRetry count settings in essbase cfg file, it is more than the minimum values recommended. And also we tried chaning Data File cache, Data cache settings. It didnt work. Finally we cleared all data and refreshed, it worked fine added all new members in the outline. Can anybody tell us why it is happening, and what is the possible solution.

Don't feel too special, this error happens in many environments, many situations. While it can often by minimized, it is rarely fully resolved. A brief explanation: typically, this error occurs because either the client failed to receive a response to a request, or the server failed to receive the client's request. If your network utilization is consistently too high, changes to retries or delays will not help much, you will just have to live with the situation. Simple collisions are unavoidable even in low network utilization conditions, and even modest retry and delay settings will be fine in most cases. In other words, the settings are more of a band-aid than a real resolution (not that I don't value the band-aid). If it is possible to address the issue with your IT/network department, it may be a situation where the traffic in one segment can be identified as the culprit (i.e. the server farm itself), and thus taking the server off the current hub and putting it on a less busy one may be a good resolution. Apart from this, there isn't a whole lot that can be done. HTH.

Dimbuild causes network error 10054 "cannot send data"

Can anyone help with this? I have an ASO app that I run dimbuilds on every month. Every month I get the same error message when the dimbuild runs: Error 1042012 - Network Error [10054]: Cannot send Data. If I make an exact copy of the app and run the dimbuild on the copy, I get no errors and the dimbuild works fine. But when I run it on the original app, I always get the error message. Yet this month's app is a copy that the dimbuild worked on last month. Does anyone out there know why this keeps happening? Any suggestions deeply appreciated. Thanks. 

Hi Anaguiu, I would clear the database and build dimensions using dimbuild rulewith no data in database and then load data using data load rule. Error not send data a database of oracle please

Are they text fields? Try surrounding them with quotes:

Please check to ping the BI server IP 10.1.45.35 from your XI server , in case its working you can check telnet to SAP standard port like 3201/3601/3301/3901 etc.
It seems to be connectivity issue only.
Make sure your both the systems are up and running.
Revert back after checking above stuff.

Errors in sending data - maybe a bug

Hi, everybody. I was trying o create a program with 2 scokets, lets say socket A and socketB. The principle of this program was whatever socketA receives is beeing send through socketb and vis versa. I had creted a routine for sendind data like that:

The strange thing was that, using a network sniffer I realised that sometimes my socket was sending characters that weren't in the string s, more precisly it was the character with hex value c2 . When I made the following modification the program worked correctly

I'm not sure what you need to do. If you want to send and receive binary data, read and write bytes (or there are other ways, e.g. DataOutputStream).
If you want / need to send Unicode text, a PrintWriter / OutputStreamWriter and InputStreamReader will convert Unicode to & from e.g. utf-8. Or you can use String.getBytes() and new String(s, "utf-8") to convert:

Ok, quite possibly Unicode is overkill for you, and you'll be fine with the 8-bit subset. Depends on how "serious" your application is, and how likely it will need to process e.g. Cyrillic, Greek or Chinese text.
For performance, you may want buffered streams and a StringBuffer instead of string concatenation to create strings.

Network Error []: Cannot Get Host Name when running business rules

We are getting the following error intermittently when we are running business rules (Planning Application >>Tools>>Business Rules) or running SmartView refreshes:
Network error []: Cannot Get Host Name
The following is then logged in the Essbase Application logs:
Local/Application/Database/admin@Native Directory/Error(1042022)
Network error []: Cannot Get Host Name.
A quick look at the Essbase Error Messages Doc says it is a network error and we have to consult the network documentation. Unfortunately this is not very descriptive so we logged an SR with Oracle but we don't seem to be getting a resolution.
The environment is 11.1.2.0 and the architecture is as follows:
Server 1 - MS Server 2008 x64:
Planning, Calc Manager, Foundation Services, Framework Web Services, EAS, APS, Web Analysis, FR Web Services
Server 2 - MS Server 2008 x64:
Essbase Server
Server 3 - MS Server 2008 x64:
Framework Services, FR Print Services
We have tried doing the following:
1. Put in the server host names into the hosts file on the Hyperion Servers
2. Applied the following TCP/IP settings on all the Hyperion Servers and one of the user machines as a test:
      - Added a new DWORD Value named TcpTimedWaitDelay and set it to 30.
     - Added a new DWORD Value named MaxUserPort and set it to 65534.
     - Added a new DWORD Value named MaxFreeTcbs and set it to 6250
3. Confirmed that there are no packet drops by monitoring the server NICs so no packet loss could be the cause of this issue
4. The Essbase Config file has the following settings:
NETDELAY 2000
NETRETRYCOUNT 2500
Has anyone come across this issue and if you managed to resolve it, how did you go about it.

The issue is happening to a number of calcs so it it not one calc specifically. I will ask the functional consultants to enhance the logging in the business rules so that we can see if the issue happens on a specific member\block etc and yes we do use Xrefs
We can run this as a calc in EAS without any issues and it's intermittent because this business rule runs 95% of the time in Planning Application >> Tools >>Business Rules without any issues.

I know this question is a few years old now, but I recently found myself having the exact same issues;
Using my iphone or ipad at home created no problems at all, but I couldn't send e mails when away from my home network.
I recently switched broadband supplier at home and set up a new e mail address, then my problems began!
I openly admit I'm not great with technology and, to be honest, some of the answers provided on these forums confuse me more than the questions!
But this worked for me:
I went along the lines that the fault wasn't with my idevice but possibly with the broadband provider (in my case Plusnet) so I contacted their customer support.
They referred me to the set up process shown below;
From your home screen press Settings.
From the setting menu, choose Mail, Contacts, Calendars followed by Add Account…
From the Add Account… menu choose Other.
Fill in your Full Name, Email Address, Password and Description and press Next.If you need help with these, there's more detail underneath the screenshot.
Full name: Enter your name (or the name you'd like people to see when you send them email)
Email Address: Enter the address you're setting up, this could be a Plusnet address ([email protected]) or a hosted domain address ([email protected])
Password: Enter the password for your email address (I don't know what this is)
Description: Enter a useful description of the email address you're setting up (e.g. Mum's email). You can put whatever you want here
Press Next to continue.
More settings will appear. Some will already be filled in.Enter the Incoming and Outgoing Mail Server details and press Next. If you need help with these, there's more detail underneath the screenshot.
IMAP/POP This will default to IMAP - it's up to you which one you want to use (I don't know what to choose)

Now I fully understand that it may be different for each broadband provider but the processes must be similar.
The key appears to be in setting up the outgoing message server settings in step 5. Where it says "optional, but if you want to send mail while on the move (e.g. while connected to mobile or wireless networks), we recommend filling these in.

Where it says "we recommend" I think it should read "you must fill these in"
I went back to Settings - Mail,Contacts, Calenders - click on the offending account and click on the account shown.
Under OUTGOING MAIL SERVER click on the server, in my case relay.plus.net, and click again to show the details. make sure you enter your user name and password and after a few seconds the account will verify and show a load of ticks.
I tried this on my phone this morning while on 3G only. I sent an email to another of my addresses and immediately got the response that the message couldn't be sent as the recipient was rejected and the message had been placed in my Outbox. I followed the above steps and immediately heard the satisfying "whoosh" as my mail was sent. 10 seconds later another satisying beep as my e mail arrived at my alternate account.
Hope this helps anyone else with a similar problem.

Error when sending data request

Hi All,
   i have scheduled info package for different type data sources in bi 7.0, for this i am getting the data from ecc 6.0 . all of this schedule's showing the status "error when sending data request" with the following details.

diagnosis
the request idoc could not be sent to the source system using rfc
system response
there is an idoc in the warehouse outbox that did not arrive in the ale inbox of the source system
in step by step analysis it is showing
   rfc to source system successful showing with ash status
   data selection successfully stated and finished ? show with red status
in that details tab
request : showing with green status
everything ok
extraction :showing with red status
missing messages
transfer(idocs and trfc) : missing messeges
processing(data packet) : no data
    it is showing technical status with red as processing overdue
                       processing step call to source system
   so it is showing error with 0 from 0 records.
please any body could help me for solving this error.

Hi
Seems you have connectivity issues between the Source system and Bi system.
You need to check whether you have data on R/3 side via RSA3 with Full / Delta Update Modes with Target System as your BI system.
RSA13--Source System -- Right click Connection parameters/check/Restore/Activate again Say Replicate All Data Sources (If Possible , provided if you have time because it consumes lot of time )
You need to check the tRFC Queue SM58/59 for any Stucks and WE19/20 for IDocs.
Much of BASIS Issue .

when i tried to excecute first time it gave the same error for the bellow given Querry. But after that it got excecuted. Then again It gave the same error. But it got excecuted twise like that after that it dint get excecuted once also.

Data copy in Hyperion Planning taking long time

I am using data copy in hyperion planning (11 1 2 2) to copy from one scenario to other selecting account annotations and supporting details.
The essbase part of copying data completed (checked sessions), but when I checked the job console in planning it still says processing for past 2 hrs.
My java heap size for planning is 1.5GB and the backed database is SQL server
my suspicion is that the issue was with backend sql. but I don't where to start.
can anyone please guide me.

I am working with version 11.1.2.1 and running into the same issue. The Supporting detail option works fine if the application has just a few details, let’s say 50 cells, but if we have around 500 cell with details then the copy process never ends, the details are not copied, and I have to restart the Planning service. As a workaround we are using a two steps process. In the first step we copy the just Essbase using the copy data functionality of Planning (with no data copy options enabled) or by using an Essbase calculation script. For the Supporting Details piece we use the Export for Edit functionality of LCM and export them to an XML file, and then we edit the XML file and change the source member name with the target member name, and finally we use the Import after Edit functionality of LCM. Of course if works only if the Planning application was deployed using EPMA.

Formatting header rows in data form in hyperion planning

Hello Friends,
I want to format header rows in data form in hyperion planning (formatting like Bold, Italic etc...) Is there any way to do that?

I could be wrong. That's why i thought i should post this one.

Customizing the Style of Header Cells in Forms
Applying a bold style to all forms
1. From HyperionPlanning.war\custom, open HspCustom.css and insert this class code:
customheaderStyle
Font-family:;
Font-size:<size>;
Font-weight:bold;
For example, to use bolded garamond 14 as the style for header cells you would specify:
customheaderStyle
Font-family:garamond;
Font-size:14;
Font-weight:bold;
You can also change the font and the font size in the same portion of code.
Perform the tasks in "Registering Customized Skins in Applications".
Applying a bold style to one form
Determine the ID of the form to customize by running this query in which ‘<FORM_NAME’ is the name of the form:
Select object_id AS FORM_ID,object_name AS FORM_NAME from hsp_object
where object_name like ‘<FORM_NAME>’
For example, to modify a form called "1.30 Per Payor – Metrics”, you would run this query:
Select object_id AS FORM_ID,object_name AS FORM_NAME from hsp_object where object_name like "1.30 Per Payor-Metrics"
When the ID is returned, create a css class in HspCustom.css using the following format. HspCustom.css is in HyperionPlanning.war\custom.
“customheaderStyle_<FORM_ID>”
Set font-weight in .customheaderStyle as bold as shown below. You can also change the font and the font size in the same portion of code.
customheaderStyle
Font-family:;
Font-size:<size>;
Font-weight:bold;
To use different styles on individual forms, create a css class for each form.
so there is a way to create custom headers

Error While Sending Data for Currency Translation

Hello Experts,
I am trying to send data via template. Data is getting saved but I am getting following error displayed.
1.) When I try to enter data for a particular month then, error as FX-200.
2.) When I try to enter data accross months of more than year then , FX-045 and FX-310 error.
I had look on various SAP Notes available for the errors.
As per them, I ran Full optimization, I checked rates are maintained for previous year too, I checked for LC Currency Type Property is maintained as L.
But nothing Worked.
Currently only the 3 members are maintained in Rate Dimension, so exceeding the size limit cannot be an issue.
Kindly Suggest, what could be another possible reason for the errors.
