Network Error Detection
Greetings:
I am writing an embedded PL/SQL program in Visual C++ by
using Pro*C/C++. The program connects to a remote Oracle
server, registers for a DBMS_alert, and waits for an alert
by using waitone(). The problem that I am having is that
I need a way to detect if the connection is still valid.
For example, if I uplug the network connection, the
program just freezes. I have tried exception handling and
using DB EXEC WHENEVER SQLERROR ... I would appreciate any
help that anyone could give to me.
Thanks
Mark
Generally, the client won't know that the connection has been severed until it tries to use it. The easiest approaches I can think of off the top of my head...
1) The app waits a few minutes, stops waiting for alerts, and issues a simple SELECT statement (select 1 from dual, for example). If all is well, wait for alerts for another few minutes. Lather, rinse repeat.
2) The app spawns two threads, one that's waiting on alerts and the other that's doing the SELECT every few minutes. If the SELECT thread notices that the connection is toast, it notifies the thread waiting on alerts to stop waiting.

Did you just install a wireless card? You get that error if you install an unsupported wireless card. If you did not make any changes to your PC then I don't know what to tell you.

If you run two instances on one server you have to carefully configure the memory for each of them. If you just use the default memory settings that are taken by sapinst things like that happen.
As you can see in the log the system is trying to allocate 8 GB memory which is not available.
So configure the PHYS_MEMSIZE instance parameter of each of the instances so they both fit into physical memory.

A network error when i tested the connection of a proxy user
Good evening
I 'd created a 3 appliances Filer system . Filer 1.1.0.653
The Filr Apl is in DMZ and every ports are open between it and the 2 Windows boxes (AD and File Sharing)
Every thing seems well. I could inport AD users, create filr users, and work ...
But when i want to create a NetFolder server, impossible to pass the connection test
Name : Cn=Administrateur, cn=Users,dc=arcdom,dc=arcane-inf,dc=com (Administrateur because i'm French :=)
or
Name : Administrateur
or
Name = arcdom\Administrateur
Click on test connection => an network error occurs
I'd try with a "Filr" ADuser with same ACL as Administrateur, same ...
The Novell-FAMT is running. (I tried to restart it without succes)
Help .......

From the docu:
Click the Authentication tab, then specify the following information:
Proxy name and password: Specify the fully qualified, comma-delimited name and password for the proxy user used to access the OES, NetWare or Windows, server. (You can use the Browse icon next to the Proxy field to browse the LDAP directory for the proxy user that you want to use.)
IMPORTANT:Before you specify a proxy name and password for the Net Folder server, ensure that you review the information in Section 8.1.2, Planning the Net Folder Server Proxy User.
Test connection: Click this button to ensure that the path is accurate and that the credentials are valid, then click OK after the test succeeds.
Sometimes proxy users with the incorrect context pass this test. Ensure that the context for your proxy user is correct, as described in Expected Name Format for File Servers.
Authentication type: Select the authentication service for the file server that you are connecting to. This option corresponds with the Server type setting that you selected on the Configuration tab. If you selected OES or NetWare as the server type, only Novell NMAS is available as the authentication type. If you selected Windows as the server type, you can select either Kerberos, NTLM, or Auto detect as the authentication type. (Auto detect means that it tries authenticating with Kerberos first, and if that fails, authenticates with NTLM.)
NOTE:If Kerberos is selected as the authentication type, ensure that the DNS name server is able to resolve DNS queries for the Active Directory domains.
If the Kerberos port (port 88) is disabled on the Windows server, select NTLM as the authentication type.
So you should use comma delimited name for the username... Did you also try browsing for the user using the icon there?
Does is log any specific error message in /opt/novell/filr/apache-tomcat/logs/appserver.log file when you try to test the connection?

Error detected while attempting to run job
Hi everyone,
One of my users tried to run a rule in Hyperion Planning 11.1.1.3 and an error occurred: Error detected while attempting to run job
When I went to Essbase, I found that when I launched the rule an error appeared:
ERROR - 1006059 - Invalid block header: Illegal block type -- Please use the IBH Locate/Fix utilities to find/fix the IBH problem.
I read that it could be an issue related to corrupted blocks. I'm not familiar with MXL and I read that there are commands that I could run. Someody could provide me help?
Regards,I have XCP files:

TomHi Tom
Following is taken from a Cisco document and you might find this useful.
A loopback error occurs when the keepalive packet is looped back to the port that sent the keepalive.
The switch sends keepalives out all the interfaces by default. A device can loop the packets back to the source interface, which usually occurs because there is a logical loop in the network that the spanning tree has not blocked. The source interface receives the keepalive packet that it sent out, and the switch disables the interface (errdisable). This message occurs because the keepalive packet is looped back to the port that sent the keepalive:
%PM-4-ERR_DISABLE: loopback error detected on Gi4/1, putting Gi4/1 in
err-disable state
Keepalives are sent on all interfaces by default in Cisco IOS Software Release 12.1EA-based software.
In Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2SE-based software and later, keepalives are not sent by default on fiber and uplink interfaces.
The suggested workaround is to disable keepalives and upgrade to Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2SE or later.

Unsupported wireless network device detected
Hi guys,
I had to change the motherboard of my DV9420US; I bought a new motherboard from Megabyte Trading, the part number was the same (444002-001) and they told me it was an HP piece. However, after the technician replaced it, the following error appears when booting and forces me to shut down:
"104-unsupported wireless network device detected. System halted. remove device and restart".
Can anyone tell me how to fix this problem?
It starts to be disappointing: I have already spent over 400 bucks to repair the original motherboard first and buy a new one after, with the result that my laptop does not work yet.
Thanks.
simone73
This question was solved.
View Solution.Remove the wireless card and boot into the notebook. Once into windows you will have to hardwire the notebook into an internet connection and go to HP.com. Place your PN number in the search and go to the software and driver downloads find the BIOS header and download the most update BIOS and flash the BIOS for the notebook. Once this has completed replace the WLAN and boot it back up, should fix the issue.

I am trying to upgrade my ipad ios 4 to IOS 6 or above. I get a network error code saying the ipad upgrade server cannot be contacted. I do have full internet access on a high speed connection. Any suggestions?
If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 7.1. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.
You can no longer update to iOS 6.x, or down grade the iOS.

iOS: How to update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4623
If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and antivirus software temporarily. Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 7.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
Tip 2 - If you're updating via wifi, place your iPad close to your router to preclude getting a corrupted download.
How to Upgrade to iOS 7
The iOS 7.0 update requires around 2.5 GB of storage space, so if your iPad is almost full, you may need to clear up some space. You can check your available space in Settings -> General -> Usage.
There are two ways to upgrade to iOS 7: You can use your Wi-Fi connection, or you can connect your iPad to your PC and update through iTunes. We'll go over each method.
To upgrade using Wi-Fi:
Note: If your iPad's battery is under 50%, you will want to plug it into your charger while performing the update.
Go into the iPad's Settings.
Locate and tap "General" from the menu on the left.
The second option from the top is "Software Update". Tap this to move into the update settings.
Tap "Download and Install". This will start the upgrade, which will take several minutes and will reboot your iPad during the process. If the Download and Install button is grayed out, trying clearing up some space. The space required by the update is mostly temporary, so you should gain most of it back after iOS 7 is installed.
Once the update is installed, you may have to run through the initial steps of setting up your iPad again. This is to account for new features and settings.
To upgrade using iTunes:
First, connect your iPad to your PC or Mac using the cable provided when you purchased your device. This will allow iTunes to communicate with your iPad.
You will also need the latest version of iTunes. Don't worry, you will be prompted to download the latest version when you launch iTunes. Once it installs, you may be asked to setup iCloud by logging into your iTunes account. If you have a Mac, you may be prompted on whether or not you want to enable the Find my Mac feature.
Now you are ready to begin the process:
If you upgraded iTunes earlier, go ahead and launch it. (For many, it will launch automatically when you plug in your iPad.)
Once iTunes is launched, it should automatically detect that a new version of the operating system exists and prompt you to upgrade to it. Choose Cancel. Before updating, you will want to manually sync your iPad to make sure everything is up to date.
After canceling the dialog box, iTunes should automatically sync with your iPad.
If iTunes doesn't automatically sync, you can manually do it by selecting your iPad within iTunes, clicking on the File menu and choosing Sync iPad from the list.
After your iPad has been synced to iTunes, select your iPad within iTunes. You can find it on the left side menu under Devices.
From the iPad screen, click on the Update button.
After verifying that you want to update your iPad, the process will begin. It takes a few minutes to update the operating system during which time your iPad may reboot a few times.
After updating, you may be asked a few questions when your device finally boots back up. This is to account for new settings and features.

How to check where 's loopback port problem?Hi Friend,
Also if changing the cable did not resolve the issue then there may be a STP loop in you network.
The problem occurs because the keepalive packet is looped back to the port that sent the keepalive. Keepalives are sent on the Catalyst switches in order to prevent loops in the network. Keepalives are enabled by default on all interfaces. You see this problem on the device that detects and breaks the loop, but not on the device that causes the loop.
Workaround will be to issue the "no keepalive" interface command in order to disable keepalives. A disablement of the keepalive prevents errdisablement of the interface, but it does not remove the loop.
To remove the loop you may have to trace the cables and switches and find out that out.

Software update - networking error (Mac OS 10.4.11)
Hi everyone,
I've been having problems running software update on my 867 MHz Powerbook G4. Every time I try to run software update, I get the same message: "A networking error has occurred: timed out (-1001). Make sure you can connect to the Internet, then try again."
I'm using Mac OS X 10.4.11.
My network is running fine, and I've run Network Diagnostics several times fully through to confirm this.
I've tried repairing the disk permissions through disk utility a few times, and nothing's changed.
I tried copying three files from my Library / Preferences folder, along with my Caches folder (after reading that this could fix the problem), but still, software update doesn't work.
I tried running the 10.4.11 combo update for PPC, rebooted in safe mode, and repaired my disk permissions again, but still, no luck.
There's another problem that might be related: Safari can't load pages. Firefox 2.0.0.18 works fine, but Safari doesn't do anything. Also, closing the Safari window (Ctrl + W) doesn't work, quitting the program is the only way to make it go away.
Thanks in advance for the help, it's much appreciated!Hi James, and a warm welcome to the forums!
To expand a bit on Sig's great advice...
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
Also, how much free space do you have on your HDD? -

Data network errors when manually switching from 3g to 2g
Hi everyone,
Apologies if this has been posted before but im running out of ideas! - Got my iphone 4 a couple of weeks ago and have noticed a rather irritating problem with it. For some reason, if i manually switch from 3g to 2g the data connection drops.. I get 'cannot activate cellular data network' errors and i have to toggle airplane mode on/off to reset the connection. Is this a network issue? - I live in London and am with Vodafone... Their tech support are useless as all they suggest is resetting the phone or getting it replaced. Its my third handset in 2 weeks and im getting close to calling it a day and sending the phone back to Apple. Anyone out there in a similar situation? - Advice??Bump
So no-one has suffered this issue? - Not even fellow vodafone uk users?
