Never preordering or buying any game from Best Buy again.

I went to preorder Destiny Limited Edition for PS4 and had to go through several managers a couple months ago to get it preorder for they couldn't find it in their system. After a few hours they finally found it and preordered it for me. Tonight I went into Bestbuy to find out that the person who preordered my game for me put it for the wrong console.. the PS3. Now that I've wasted an hour waiting in line. I will never get the LIMITED edition that I wanted to preorder. 
I've read that this has happened to other customers before and I should have trusted them. Best buy you have lost a customer who has been buying electronics from you for years.

While I definitely thank you for pre-ordering Destiny at Best Buy, I sincerely regret hearing that it’s resulted in such frustration for you! Securing a copy of the Limited Edition of Destiny was pretty difficult since they were exactly that, limited. It makes complete sense that you’d be frustrated if you were under the impression that you’d be receiving the limited edition on one system, only to find out that you had pre-ordered the game for a different console and I’m very sorry if this is what occurred.
I’ve located your pre-order receipt using your email address on file for the forums and I’ve reviewed the details. When pre-ordering games in-store at a Best Buy location, a deposit is needed for the pre-order to be considered valid, which is present on your receipt. After the deposit is provided, the pre-order receipt will print, which will fully display the item(s) that you pre-ordered. While I understand that these transactions are usually completed by one of our associates, I would definitely suggest reviewing the receipt to ensure you receive the proper item(s).
I can understand how your frustrations would make you reluctant to shop at Best Buy in the future. However, I do hope you reconsider! Thanks for sharing your feedback with us here on the forums and please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any further questions or concerns.

  • First and last time buying from Best Buy

    It's sad to see how many complaints there are regarding the Best Buy delivery service. Ever worse to see how customer service makes no attempt to rectify the situation either. I like most others here wished I looked on this forum before purchasing anything from Best Buy. 
    Ordered the Sony 60" TV on Friday 11/21. A delivery date of 11/23 was selected. This was a big purchase and I was looking forward to getting the TV on Sunday. No call came to confirm what time they were coming and nobody showed up on Sunday either. I called Best Buy the following day and was informed that they didn't have any available trucks so they needed to rescheduled. Look I understand things happen so I let it slide and rescheduled. I rescheduled to Tuesday 11/24 and they let me change the delivery address as well since I work during the week.
    Now it's Monday night and I didn't receive a delivery confirmation once again. I just got off the phone with a customer service rep and they informed me that my delivery date was never set and the new address was not on file either. I even have a confirmation e-mail from over the weekend that confirmed the new address change. So now guess what, the TV is backordered and not available until 12/7. How the hell do you run a business??? I order a TV that is in stock and confirmed for delivery and it gets rescheduled and is now backordered? How can I trust the next date that's provided? Plus has anything been offered for the inconvenience? I thought ordering from Best Buy especially for a big ticket item I'd get a certain level of service, I should've just ordered from Amazon.

  • Why I refuse to buy anything from Best Buy, ever again.

    Let me just preface this by saying that I have always defended brick & mortar stores.  I enjoy being able to go into a store and compare the look and feel of items.  I enjoy being able to talk to someone at the store regarding the items and their experiences.  I used to shop at Best Buy for this; however, due to a recent experience I can say I will never set foot into a Best Buy again.  This post is more of a warning to people who may consider purchasing from Best Buy, what they can expect to receive in terms of salesmanship, customer service and general experience if they encounter issues.
    We were purchasing a new refrigerator and decided to make our first stop Best Buy.  There was an open box Samsung refrigerator which we liked.  After exploring various refrigerators, we spoke to a sales rep about it.  We asked questions about why the item had been returned, if it would be cleaned prior to sale (it was very dirty inside) and how long it had been used before it was returned.  We were told it was returned simply because it was too large for the space, that it would be cleaned and it was only used for a week or 2. After debating, we decided to purchase the item.  I previously had a Best Buy credit card, so they were able to look up the account info since I no longer have the card.
    Fast forward 3 weeks (we were moving and scheduled the delivery out a bit) and the refrigerator comes.  The item comes just as dirty, if not worse, on the inside.  Also, it arrives with 2 broken shelves and a broken kickplate.  Since we needed some form of a refrigerator for our daughter's formula, we plugged it in and planned to use it.  I immediately called Best Buy 800 number to schedule a return and the purchase of another refrigerator.  We worked through the 800 number and a supervisor at the store to schedule the return and a new purchase.  We were informed that it would take 7-10 days for the item to be delivered.  They stated that we could use the current one until the new one was delivered... which was great, until later that night we found out that the fridge was not cooling at all.  I contacted the 800 number again to see if, due to the circumstances, we could bumped up on the priority of the delivery.  I was greeted by a very rude woman who said no.
    Needless to say, we purchased a new fridge later that night from Lowe's who delivered it the very next day.  I called Best Buy (again) to cancel the order and have the old fridge returned - so the story should end here.  
    But it gets better!! (Or worse?)  The warehouse people screwed up and the return/refund was not done properly.  This has led to the credit card company now stating that we owe them money for an item which was returned.  I have no receipt since all of this was done over the phone.  Citibank (another terrible company) refuses to contact Best Buy to confirm that the item has been returned.  Best Buy refuses to contact Citibank to let them know that the item has been returned.  Both companies (but this for is for Best Buy) have absymal customer service and refuse to put the customer first and take it upon themselves to resolve the issue.  For 2 months I have attempted to get the money refunded and wasted at least 10 hours on the phone.  
    As I started this post off this is more of a warning than anything.  The issue will be resolved soon, I've had to get a new card issued from the bank and the local store will refund my money (they have to have an actual card to refund the money, but they don't need one to purchase the item?  Uh, seriously?)  We are going to be looking for other appliances soon (as well as other electronics) and I will never purchase from Best Buy again.  Amazon and Lowe's is where I will purchase all appliances from in the future.  Their customer service blows Best Buy out of the water, their prices are better and they have more knowledgeable staff.

    I cannot truly express how sorry I am to hear about your total experience with the delivery and subsequent return of this fridge.  It certainly sounds as though Best Buy has put you through the ringer and I can absolutely understand your disappointment and anger with us.
    While it sounds like some aspects of the purchase and delivery were at least adequate, any opportunity that we had to show you why you should purchase from Best Buy went by the wayside.  However, Best Buy is not in the business to provide merely adequate experiences and I am saddened that this is the best we could summon for your purchase.  We are capable of better than what we showed you.
    I’m glad to hear that you have finally been able to get the assistance you needed to get this refund resolved and make you whole again.  In addition, I do hope that you are enjoying the fridge you purchased at Lowe’s.  I certainly wish that it had been a Best Buy fridge in your kitchen instead, but I can understand why you chose to go with another retailer.
    It sounds like the store has you in good hands once your card arrives and I believe that the reason they need the physical card is that the credit card company requires it to be physically scanned for returns.  Hopefully you will not run into any further issues with this refund and it’s my hope that sometime in the future, you might grant us another chance at your business.  I will be sending you a Private Message with some additional details as well.  To check your Private Messages, please log into the forum and click on the envelope in the upper right hand corner.

  • As of last night, i have a 16G iphone4...​...from Best Buy

    So my tale of woe is me is short and sweet.
    -Preordered iphone 4 from Best Buy in huntington station NY on the first day.  Launch day came, the store was shorted, i didnt make the cut.  Out of 12 people, i was now number 3 on the next shipment.
    -Like most of you, i hadnt been told when, or if the next shipment was even coming
    -Compounding the problem, was that i'm leaving tomorrow for a 2 week vacation, and if the phone came and i couldnt be there to claim it, i'd get bumped down the list, and most likely wait until august
    -Huntington Station store was absolutely no help, very rude, told me no way i'd be able to return my gift card, etc etc
    WELL
    Last night i called again to complain, and got a hold of someone who was surprisingly helpful.  Informed me that hes not sure why, but he caught wind that the Riverhead store has a bunch in stock for walk ins, and they didnt take preorders.
    I called riverhead at 7pm, and they said they had a bunch, but theres some people on line.  Gave her my number and name, told her i was getting in my car, i'll be there in an hour (its 45 miles away and rush hour), and to call me if they run out so i dont waste my time.
    Show up at 8:25, wait behind one person, walk out of there 10 minutes later with a beautiful new iphone 4   I'm canceling my presale today from huntington and thanking the guy who gave me the tip.  Apparently Riverhead got 60+ on their first shipment, but Huntington Station (who took preorders mind you) got no more than 20.  Does this make any sense?  Absolutely not.  But now i have my iphone, its definately amazing and worth the wait, and i dont have to deal with this bull anymore
    Keep plugging away everyone!  Just keep calling different stores!

    Completely agree.  If i wasnt able to get the phone, i'd obviuosly be more peeved about the situation, but i have it so its rolling off my back at this point.
    But you're totally right, and its completely poor inventory management on BB and Apple's part.
    A preorder is a guarantee of product when inventory allows.  To have one store 45 miles away have 60 while the other store barely had enough to fill 10 people on the preorder, is just poor poor business practice.

    If you already created an Apple ID, you have to enter a credit card in order to use that ID now. If you don't have a credit card at all, you will have to create a new Apple ID to use without a credit card and you will need to have another email address in order to do this.
    First you will have to sign out of your current ID in Settings> iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. You can tap the ID and tap Sign Out. Now you can proceed with creating a new Apple ID according to the instructions in here.

    You are saying that you don't have a credit card, but if you had one, you could enter the credit card in order to use the ID that you already created, but you never have to use it. You can use gift cards or just download free content. But unless you create the ID as outlined above, you must enter payment details.

The agent should have known exactly what steps to make the exchange an easy, and smooth process, and I sincerely apologize for the frustrating experience you received instead.

As per the terms and conditions of your Geek Squad Protection plan, you should receive one battery per the life of the plan, and you can order it simply by calling our Partstore. As I mentioned previously, this is something the Geek Squad agent should have explained to you, or as the mobile specialist did, call them for you, and I'm truly sorry this wasn't handled in that manner causing you to waste a lot of time at the store.  Using the e-mail you registered on the forum, I was able to locate the service order, and I will be documenting your experience for further training opportunities.
    Once again, I am very sorry for any disappointment this has caused, and I appreciate very much you bringing this to our attention. I hope you will give us another in chance to offer you a much better experience.

  • Photoshop Elements 10 from Best Buy - incorrect Redemption code

    I was just given this Photoshop Elements 10 as a gift, and I followed the directions to get my serial number.... peeled the sticker off of the back of the box from Best Buy, entered the redemption code, only to be told the code is invalid. SO, I am unable to get a serial number to install this program. Even online support told me it was an incorrect number. So it's either a misprint, or as one phone support agent said last night "it's Best Buys fault".... Today I've been on hold for nearly an hour waiting for someone to answer the phone.... any ideas what to do outside of hoping tech support can finagle me a new number?

    Do you have the invoice for the purchase made at best buy?
    On the invoice, you will see a number listed as the "Serial Number".
    Please contact support and provide that number and they will be able to resolve your issue.

    I've been reading these forums the last week and escpecially the last few days, and I see all these posts about how people are getting phone calls and setting up appointments for their iPhone4 but I have not yet recieved a phone call from anybody from best buy..  I went to the best buy mobile in yorktown shopping mall (Lombard, Illinois) and my friend and I were #1 and #2 for the pre-orders.  I know that because, the girl that was working had just opened the store, and she wasn't even aware that they were doing pre-orders for the iPhone4 she ended up calling her manager, and a district manager to confirm that indeed they were.  So my question is what happeneds if you don't get a call? Should I be worried that I will not get my iPhone4 tomorrow even if I am #1 / #2 in-line for the pre-order?

    I was #1 for the 16GB Black iPhone 4 at BB Waterford (571) in Orlando. I haven't received a call yet, either, and just called them to see if they'd begun making appointments at all yet. The CS rep (not the Mobile Sales rep -- they were busy) informed me that they would begin calling to set up appointments TOMORROW (6/24) and that no appointments had been made yet.
    I didn't inquire further since she wasn't a Mobile rep, but I'm hoping she was confused and that they'll begin scheduling today. I don't know if they have inventory on-hand yet or not, but if they do I don't understand why they'd wait til the day of launch to schedule appointments for that same day.
    I've got an inventory request in on one of the other boards to see if they do indeed have stock yet. Hopefully that will shed some light on the situation.
