New archlinux .no mirror

Just finished rebuilding my mirror, and as there is a lack of mirrors here in norway, id like to share mine with you all. Its a fast connection (100Mbit), though it will be moved to a 2gbit pipe this fall.
http://mirror.djzradio.net is the adress.
UPDATE: Now offering ftp as well
ftp://mirror.djzradio.net
Current, extra, testing, unstable and community is mirrored. Its synced several times a day, so it should be quite updated.
Now, please help me test it, and report any errors. It uses a custom script for syncing (as the rsync.archlinux.org downloads are capped at 100KB/s or something), so there is a slim chance of bugs.
Enjoy!

Ok, so i discovered a horrible bug Fixed now anyhow.
So, sorry to anyone using the mirror, it hsould work 100% now

    Trying to get my New iPad to mirror certain apps to my apple tv. Apps such as showtime anytime and hbo won't mirror on apple tv. Any recommendations?

    I purchased both the apple tv and VGA connections for my iPad so I can mirror/project this image onto my television. When I purchased both of these items from the store, I was told it would support this feature. Is there anything in development to allow me to mirror the image or connect it via the VGA connector to my television?

  • New Arch Linux Mirror

    Hi There,
    We have a new Turkish Arch Linux mirror of Arch Linux: ftp://ftp.linux.org.tr/pub/archlinux/
    Can you please add this to the defaults of the pacman.conf and to the distribution download page ?
    Thanks for the great work..!

    Please add the mirror by yourself to the mirror list:

  • New ArchLinux background

    Kudos to the designer of the new background.
    It signifies the nuclear generation of arch linux from small beginnings, ever growing, even beyond the confines of the desktop display, with input from others in its growth.  Inclusion of the pov-ray image is indicative of the recognition of support from users and is a fine background image of its own.
    Appreciate the new menu item for arch linux as well!

    thanks
    it's a modified version of kde-looks one

  • New com.sun.mirror.* packages - annotation processing

    Hello,
    i would like to use annotation processing tool (APT), but there is much to learn yet.
    So, please help me.
    Lets have an annotation that can be apllied to all code declarations (source code entities).I want to process some *.java files (their proper source code) via APT.From this code i wanna gain (in any way) those declarations (classes, ifaces, methods, constructors, etc.) that are annotated just with the only one annotation that i have.
    i was already going through the API, but not well-understood.
    As written, i created AnnotationProcessorFactory (just my annotation should be processed by this factory) with an appropriate AnnotationProcessor.
    Ive already done some steps to succeed, but you know, thats not that i want
    Of course, all is performed in build-time, after i call apt command with the option factory with the appropriate factory class
    Thank you a lot

    Hi,
    I am new to this forum and also just started
    working on apt can u plz tell me where do i get
    com.sun.mirror package and its sub-packages
    hanksIf you can use JDK 6, I strongly recommend using the standardized annotation processioning in javac and the packages javax.annotation.processing and javax.lang.model..* instead of apt and its com.sun.mirror.* API. To get started, take a look at
    sample/javac/processing/src/CheckNameProcessor.java
    under the JDK 6 install directory.
    If you just need to compile against the apt API, it is found in the tools.jar file in Sun's JDK; see http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/guide/apt/GettingStarted.html
    You can find a jar file with just the API definition from https://aptmirrorapi.dev.java.net/.

  • Making archlinux (local) mirror

    Before I post the issue PLEASE dont send me to the wiki page, I have been there and it needs to be updated big time!
    okay, I followed the steps on the wiki and I cannot get the mirror script to function, I just get access denied. I believe that I get access denied due to the fact that I am not an official mirror. There is nowhere on the wiki that shows any other servers that can be used properly for the script. I tried the ibiolo mirror on the page but it does not work. If anyone has an unofficial mirror, can you please paste your whole sync.sh? or can someone give me an alternative mirror to rsync.archlinux.org? Thanks

  • A new archlinux modular livecd

    Arch-live is a modular live cd/usb system based on a slax/zenlive like modular design. The goal of the project is to make a live system that will be easier to update then the current arch live system. The current live system are one big squashfs file with 2 or 3 smaller files for some change files. This is not a good modular design since you can't add a program without compressing the whole system again.
    I also want the arch kernel to be used but the initrd/initrramfs needs to be a ext2 gzip file for the linux-live scripts to work. Ext2 is not build-in the kernel so the only way to do it is somehow make the arch initramfs load the arch-live initramfs has root filesystem. So if someone can help with me making the linux-live scripts more arch initramfs compatible that would be great.

    Here is a list of programs in arch-live:
    office:
    * abiword
    * epdfview (pdf viewer)
    * xchm (xchm viewer)
    multimedia:
    * Asunder ( a cd ripper)
    * Avidemux (a simple video editor and encoder)
    * audacious (A music player)
    * brasero (a cd burner)
    * gtkpod (to add music and video to you ipod or copy them from you ipod to hard drive)
    * gnome-mplayer (a front-end to mplayer)
    * miro (The free and open source internet TV platform)

    * kompozer (a web page designer)
    network:
    * transmission & deluge (both bittorrent app)
    * gftp (A multithreaded ftp client for X windows)
    * firefox (web browser)
    * thunderbird (email client)
    * pidgin (IM client)
    * urlgfe (download manager)
    * wicd (wired and wireless configuration  gui)
    others:
    * isomaster ( a iso editor)
    * catfish (a gui search tool)
    * VirtualBox (Powerful x86 virtualization for enterprise as well as home use)
    The iso is update to 20080312. There is a module to update it to 20080312 cause some of the packages didn't get installed for 20080312 iso.
    I hope this helps people get more interest in the project.

    This is great, but I think you should host the image on other place, it's kind of slow. I also think "Archlinux" is a bit of redundant.

    This advice will actually be obsolete come this time tomorrow, as KDE 4.6 no longer uses hal.  You could try it out for troubleshooting; just remember to remove hal after the 4.6 upgrade.
    You may still need hal; some programs still depend on it.

  • No GRUB menu when booting from USB stick with new archlinux

    Hi,
    I want to try archlinux but I do not have a full backup of my current system right now, such that I do not dare to install archlinux on it. I decided to install it on a USB drive and followed the Beginners Guide considering the hints for installations on USB sticks.
    The first issue that I had was that I was not able to to install gurb and it complained that no boot partition was available. I started from scratch again but this time choose the partition type EF02  (bios boot partition) instead of the default 0700 (I only have one partition on the stick). This time everything went fine until I rebooted from the USB stick. Instead of a grub menu I got:
    GRUB GRUB GRUB GRUB GRUB GRUB
    and nothing happened.
    I booted again from the boot cd with archlinux and did the following to examine the grub installation again:
    mount /dev/sdb1 /mnt
    arch-chroot /mnt /bin/bash
    grub-install --recheck --boot-directory=/boot /dev/sdb
    >Installation finished. No error reported.
    grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg
    >Generating grub.cfg
    >Found linux image: /boot/vmlinux-linux
    >Found linux image: /boot/initramfs-linux.img
    > WARNING: Failed to connect to lvmetad: No such file or directory. Falling back to internal scanning.
    > No volume groups found
    >Found LMDE MATE Edition (1) on /dev/sda1
    >done
    I don't know what the grub-mkconfig output should look like...
    Do you have any idea how I can fix this?
    Thanks in advance!

    Welcome to Arch!
    EF02 is definitely not the type code you want. That is used for a small partition with no file system which grub needs on GPT disks because it cannot fit into the space on disk. You don't install anything into it and it is 1-2MB.
    Perhaps https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Usb_installation would help?

  • About archlinux.cl mirror and Arch Chile community

    I couple of weeks ago after trying some upgrade I realized the mirror was down, honestly I didn't worry too much, and change the repo. A couple of days ago, I tried again and found that the server was unresponsive, I checked nic.cl, and found that the domain hasn't been renewed so I "got it" immediatly.
    Right now it's under my name, it's not pointing anywhere and I don't have any idea who was the previous owner, or who to contact to know  what happened. According to what I see in the mirrorlist, the mirror was hosted on some university, but I also don't know how can I contact them to know if they are still hosting it and I only need to point dns there [NOTE: Right now, it doesn't even appear in the mirrorlist, but I don't know if it was removed manually, or automatically by a script].
    I searched through the mail list, but there's no info there either.. I just found some eamil lingering around from a bug ticket, so I'll write there too... but  anyway, if anyone know anythhing about it please contact me.

  • New archlinux installation working on native but not on VMWare.

    Hello.
    So basically, I installed Arch on a USB HDD. I did two partitions : One NTFS of 400gb, and one of Ext4 of 100gb.
    I installed Arch using the x86 live-cd, and everything worked well, I can perfectly boot on it.
    But here's the problem : I want to use it using VMware. I created a "virtual" machine using a physical disc, and no matter what, it won't boot.
    "Waiting 10 seconds for device /dev/disk/by-uuid/loluuid ...
    Root device '/dev/disk/by-uuid/loluuid' doesn't exist. Attempting to create it.
    ERROR: Unable to determine major/minor number of root device '/dev/disk/by-uuid/loluuid'."
    I supposed it comes from some USB driver isn't loaded or something, but I can't figure out what to do.
    Is there anything I can do so I can use it on VMWare ? I really need to use the bridged internet.
    Thanks already,
    cyb.
