Haven't seen the Photoshop new features teaser video mentioned in this forum.

I agree with regard to Blur Gallery, currently I consider the feature useless for my workflow.

  • No Welcome Video or Registration

    Hello,
While this is a minor problem compared to some of the rough stories I see upon a quick search (which also yielded nothing in relation to my topic) it still ****** me off. Upon upgrading from Tiger to Leopard, the welcome video did not play. I was quite looking forward to it. I was going to reinstall, but now I do not have enough hard drive space to do so. I thought maybe the video only played for entirely new computers and not upgrades, but I saw a few youtube videos that showed upgrades and showed the welcome video, followed by a registration and some software updates, which I also did not get.
Given a quick glance, everything seems to have installed fine, but having the video not play gives me a sort of unsatisfied/maybe something didn't go right feel. Anyone else experience this? Should I clear some space and reinstall?

If you have an external HD, just pretend you are installing on it, up to the movie. Then trash it.
Reinstalling Leopard just to see a movie is courting danger

  • Temporarily bypass welcome video

I am preparing a Mini for sale and want to give the new owner an "as new" experience.
Is there any way to bypass the welcome video one time to install iLife for the new owner?

You can use QuickTime Pro to combine the video and sound into a playable movie and possibley add it to the login or startup items. I haven't tried it in Leopard, but did combine the one in Tiger; however, I never tried it as a startup item.

  • Why didn't I receive a welcoming video on my Mac Book pro?

When I recieved it from shipping, it was practically brand new. This mac came out in the late 2011. When i opened it, the Lion was already running. So was it used before i've recieved it. I really wanted to see that video.

If I remember, Lion doesn't have a welcome video like the past OS versions did. It takes you right into Setup Assistant. Did you get Setup Assistant?
He stated that when he first opened up the MBP it was already running Lion.

It sounds like you are using an application to import. You can do it manually.
Start > Computer (on the right) > scroll to the bottom and you will see your iPhone under Portable Devices > Open it and you will see a Drive, open that and there will be a DCIM folder. That is where your photos will be (There may be other folders each holding photos).

  • Does anyone know what software was used for Mac Welcome Video?

As you may remember when you turned your mac on for the first time, a ver neat welcome video played with upbeat music. Well I just wanted to know if anybody knew what program(s) was used to make it. If you know or have any idea please tell me. Thanks!

Hi and welcome to discussions. I tried to find something about it, but was not successful. I would guess though that this has been made using some of Apple's own software, everything else would not really make sense. And there actually is one tool in the portfolio capable of creating something like that: Motion. So, as an educated guess, I would say that's the one.

  • I do not have the Firefox button in the top left hand corner as shown in the welcome video. This button seems paramount to carry out many of the features. How do I get it?

In the welcome video there is an orange Firefox button in the top left hand corner - I do not have one. This button appears to be central to the use of Firefox.

The Firefox Button acts as an alternative to the regular menubar (File, Edit, View etc.), so if you can see the menu bar you're not missing any functionality.
On Windows XP the default is for the menubar to be shown instead of the Firefox button, but you can switch between the button and the menubar via the View -> Toolbars -> Menu bar option.
With the Button enabled, you can access the regular menubar by pressing the Alt key.

  • New 80 gig Video iPod and Handbrake problems

I just purchased a new 80 gig Video iPod. I took one of my DVD movies that I own and used Mac The Ripper and DVD2One to get it onto my Powerbooks Hard Drive. I then used Instant Handbrake to make it iPod ready. It loaded fine into iTunes 7 (with the newest updates) and also played fine from within iTunes. When I went to sync it up with my new iPod iTunes gave me a message stating that this movie is not the correct format for this iPod. So I then tried using the full version Handbrake and got the same message. I know that either of these should work because I set a friend up with these same programs and we put his movies onto his 5th Gen 60 gig iPod without any problems. However, I researched iPod video conversions for the new iPods on the Apple website here and learned that there is a feature in iTunes 7 under advanced, when you highlight a video, you can go under Advanced and click on Convert Selection for iPod. Is this something that I'm going to have to do everytime, or does someone know an easier way to put MY DVDs into iTunes for my new 5th Gen 80 gig Video iPod? Please help because this process takes waaaaaaayyyyyyy tooooooo long!

It all depends on what your target settings were and whether or not you were attempting to incorporate Baseline LC Profile features into your movie. Basically, if you use the H.264 codec at VGA resolutions or with video data rates which exceed 768 kbps or wish to include chaptering, then you will have to use QT Pro v7.1.3/iTunes 7 conversion (or the latest version of ffmpegX or ViddyUp!) to create an LC iPod compatible file. (MPEG Streamclip and probably HandBrake programmers are still working on their LC upgrades.)

  • How can I add new songs and videos...?

How can I add new songs and videos to my ipod without syncing as it wants to wipe out the ipod and replace all the existing media?

On the ipod itself?  If so how?
I've tried checking on box by the sync music to deselect "Entire music library", but get the  message about "Are sure.... All existing content on the iPod will be removed and replaced...".  However, I don't want to do that as there is music on my ipod I don't want to loose, got it from a previous computer that crashed and could not be recovered.

  • Where is the First Boot Welcome Video on OS X Lion located?

Is the video which says Welcome in different languages (the first time you boot up your mac) in OS X Lion? If it is, where is it? If it isn't, can someone with the video email it to me at [email protected]? I will be very grateful for any replies!

I don't remember seeing a welcome video when I set up this macbook pro.
May not be there is one.

  • Solutions for using jvc's new hard drive video cam

does anyone have any experience using jvc's new hard drive video camera (GZ-MG50U) with usb in puts on OS 10.3.9? any suggestions on software soltuions to edit captured video?

Just to give you a quick run down on what MPEG-2 is... it is a highly compressed format, meaning that the moment your footage was saved as an MPEG-2 file, information was thrown away. That's what compressors do, throw away redundant information such as color information. So technically, the image in MPEG-2 is not as good as if it were captured in DV... on the flipside of that, converting that DV footage into MPEG-2 would reduce the quality of the DV footage, so technically, you would be even at this point.
Where things get ugly is when you take that compressed footage and convert it into another format for editing. This process is lossless, but the file size bloats immensely in the process. Which means when you take that converted and edited footage and run it through the compressor again to convert it back into MPEG-2 so that you can burn it onto a DVD, it has lost still more information than the original footage that you shot. If you take any footage and run it through a compressor several times, it's like re-recording over the same VHS tape... each recompression reduces quality.
This is why you don't want a device to goes directly to MPEG-2, whether it be directly to a DVD disc or a hard drive. DV and HDV are both editable formats... yes you have to capture the footage and then convert it to MPEG-2, but you also have the opportunity to edit it along the way. Cameras that go straight to MPEG-2 assume that you don't intend to edit anything, just burn it to a disc and call it good... sort of like owning a disposable camera... you're buying the convenience of not having to do anything with it.
