New install failed

Hi all
I'm a new user of APEX. I downloaded the XE 10 Database, installed it as Administrator, Apex is working as 2.0, then i downloaded the 3.2.1 update for APEX. And here I get the error. As you can see at the end I'm getting an error in a package. I've downloaded the APEX3.2.1 update 3 times. All show the same problem. Can somebody help me?
Regards
Erwin

  • Snow Leopard New install failed

I know there are several topics on this subject but I couldn't find one that matched my isue
My Spec: Macbook, 2.4ghz (?) Intel Procsesor, 4GB Ram, superdrive, 250GB Hard Disk (purchased off of eBay about 10 months ago)
I was using my Mac to rip some DVD's to put on my iPhone (home made from files on my old PC one) using Islysoft DVD Ripper. Anyway, one of the files that it was ripping must have been bad as it was stuck for ages. It was also making a funy noise, later I found out that it was due to a poor label, it took quite a few attempts to get it out, ending up with the laptop being on its side so I could grab the DVD out of the superdrive.
In the midst of all this I was trying to shut down the system as it had locked up, in theend I had to push the power button for10 seconds to get it to go off. Once I had got the DVD out I tried rebooting but it came up with a prohibitory/no entry sign and wouldn't let me in. I also had boot camp but the Windows partition was corrupt and had mising files too. I didn't get the original install disk with the machine, just a copy. When I tried installing this it must have been a bad burn as some of the files could not be loaded.
So I went back to my Windows partition on BootCamp, re installed it and al was fine and dandy, it worked OK.
So today I went out and got Snow Leopard from our local apple reseller (Square) and tried installing it. It came up with an error upon trying to install it, saying that it could not install on the original hard drive. After reading up on the net, it turned out I had to re partition. I decided that as I had not done much on Windows, I would go the whole hog and start off with a fresh 1 partition hard drive, as I use VMware fusion for my Windows use anyway.
So, fresh new hard drive, now it allowed me to install. But I got a message saying installation failed, please contact the software vendor. I tried installing again and got the same message
So seen as the hard drive has not worked for OSX since the crash, I am leaning towards that as being the problem. But I have also seen on here that it could be RAM also, possibly came unseated during earlier trying to get the DVD out?
I am seriously considering getting a new hard drive as I am thinking of using my external hard drive for time machine as opposed to documents. But before I do I wanted to ask on here to make sure of what the problem is, before I spend out my money. It seems strange that Windows worked fine (albeit on a different partition) and OSX does not, but there you go, I ditched Vista to get away from all this palaver!

Hi Russ, Welcome to Apple Discussions.
When you repartitioned your drive, did you choose GUID?
This could potentially cause the problem or your disk may be on it's way out.
    Run http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/15837/rember for your RAM.
Also run Apple Hardware Test. Option-boot from your SL DVD and choose Apple Hardware Test.
    Let us know.

  • [PPC] new install fails to boot: root partition not found

    Hi,
new ArchPPC installation on a iMac G3. It does not boot further than initramfs because root partition is not found. I get something like:
    Root device /dev/sda4 doesn't exist
    Attempting to created it
ERROR: unable to determine major/minor number of root device /dev/sda4
then I get a dropbox recovery console but keyboard doesn't work.
I chroot in the installed system to change mkinicpio pata hook to ide, regenerated initramfs but that didn't help.
Any guidance to diagnose and solve this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, sorry I just realized you replied to my thread.
I don't have my mac at the moment, but I must have done something like :
    - boot the live CD
    - get the output of lsmod
    - copy this output to mkinitcpio.conf (the one that's on your HD), remove the autodetect hook
    - chroot into your HD setup
    - regenerate initramfs
    - update yaboot (is this really mandatory?)
    - exit chroot and reboot.

  • New install fails at checking file system. HELP!

I just installed arch for the first time and followed everything very carefully. They only part that i was heasitant about was where to install the MBR. I installed it on the SDA. not sda 1 or sda2 ect.......i think that is what went wrong but dont know how to fix it.....or it might be something completely different. can someone help?

    JoeKer wrote:
fsckd wrote:To answer your question on reformatting the boot partition, using a different linux system, mount it, perhaps on /mnt/brokenboot. Then, copy the files over to another disk by cp -rp /mnt/brokenboot /anotherdisk/. Unmount the broken boot. Format it using mke2fs. Mount it again. Copy the files back. You may need to reinstall grub afterwords.
i would do that but boot is ext2.....it ooks lke the problem is wth the superblock of root.....any ideas?
Then why did you write this:
JoeKer wrote:so i really just want to rewrite the /boot partition as ext 2 or 3 and be done with it but cant figure out how to do this.....can anyone tell me exactly what is written in boot? could i boot into a live cd and try to fix it from there? (like system rescue cd)
Meh, figure out what your problem is before asking for help, and when people ask you for more info, give it.

  • The desktop on which I had Lightroom and PhotoshopCC installed failed and I no longer have access to it. How do I deactivate the software on those machines so that I can reinstall it on my new Mac?

Question: The desktop on which I had Lightroom and PhotoshopCC installed failed and I no longer have access to it. How do I deactivate the software on those machines so that I can reinstall it on my new Mac?

Absolutely - but I had no idea there were two versions. When I got my new laptop I just went to the Adobe site to download and install LR5. It never asked if I had a license; it just directed me to install CC to start a trial which I thought I could license after downloading. Several sessions and many hours of looking through the forums and Google for an answer I never ran across anything that made this distinction. I still haven't found a path from www.adobe.com that would get me to the standalone download page (it's probably there, wasn't obvious to me) and looking at the download page it doesn't make any CC/standalone distinction.
There are many places I could have gotten a hint - for instance the license could be tagged "stand alone edition", the CC-version could recognize the stand-alone key and either accept it or produce a more meaningful error message, or the download site or the CC app could ask if I had previously purchased a key, etc.
It was my error to assume this was a deactivation problem, but it looked the same as a previous deactivation problem with Photoshop.
In any event, thank you for your help.

  • Windows 7 install failing on brand-new Apple-replaced harddrive

I just got my (8-week-old) computer back from Apple, with a brand new hard drive. Before restoring all my files, I figured I'd get Boot Camp installed so the partitions are set, etc.
Every time I try, the Windows 7 install fails about 10% of the way in, with either a 0xC0000005 error (installation sources are unaccessible) or a 0x80070005 error (the only Apple support document about this talks about an upgrade from Vista, which isn't what I'm doing).
Reading posts, I disconnected my USB hub, and this time I got a BSOD with this error:
    iRQLNOT_LESS_OREQUAL
In between tries, I used Disk Utility to remove the boot camp partition, and reset my Mac partition to use the whole drive, so that I could start cleanly with Boot Camp Installer. The one time I tried to launch in Windows and repair, it brought me to the "click any key to launch from DVD" but hitting a key did nothing.
I've installed Boot Camp and Windows 7 twice before with this install DVD, and multiple other times with other DVDs/computers.
Ideas? I'm thinking there's something other than a bad hard drive that was wrong with my computer.

Only by either installing Windows on your iMac as a separate partition through Bootcamp, or setting up a virtual Windows machine via the likes of VMWare Fusion, or Parallels Virtual or Desktop.
Factor in the cost of Windows and I think you'll find a new copoy of Mac Photoshop Elements would be cheaper.

  • New iTunes fails to Install

The new iTunes fails to install saying "The Installer has insufficient priveleges to modify C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\defaults\pref\itms.js". It then just exits when I hit "ok".
I'm running Vista and i turned off UAC to see if that would help, but no luck.
    Anyone seen this?

I also have similar problem. iTunes will not install on new HP desktop which uses Win 7 Professional and IE 9! Instal stops with note download was incomplete. Tried several times without Firewall and clearing IE history Still no luck! Is it a Win 7 or IE 9 problem?????

The installer certainly thinks that you still have a previous ConfigMgr client installed. Perhaps you haven't completely removed it. Use ccmclean.exe from the SMS 2003 tool kit.
If that fails, why not just rebuild the server - you've said that this is a fresh install. I don't like too much messing at the beginning. This can be difficult enough - you need to start with a clean installation of the product.

  • G5 10.5.8 Combo Update codec overrun - install fails

    Hi,
I still have my first mac, a Power Mac G5, but it has been acting as a center speaker stand for some time now. A couple of years ago it started playing up, I spent hours and pounds trying to fix it, gave up and bought a shiny new iMac. So with the festive season upon us and orders to tidy up, I thought I'd have one last try at fixing it before turning it into a drinks cabinet.
As I recall, it all started to go wrong one day when I tried to download a large update to something. When I tried to install the update I got a Codec Overrun error and/or a Corrupt File message. As it stands today the machine is running a clean install of OSX 10.5.6 and I am failing to install the MacOSXUpdCombo10.5.8.dmg upgrade. I currently have 2 copies of the update.
One copy on the desktop  was downloaded directly from the Apple support site. The .dmg opens and verifies OK and I can launch the MacOSXUpdCombo10.5.8.pkg. This runs through the installation sequence, past the password but finally comes up with an error message "Install Failed. The installer could not validate the contents of the 'MacOSXUpdCombo10.5.8' package. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance."
Another copy in my downloads folder, put there by the Software Updater, doesn't get that far. It comes up with "Warning,The following disk image failed to mount. Image - MacOSXUpdCombo10.5.8.dmg, Reason - codec overrun."
    So far I have tried:-
Memory - run third party memory checker application (can't remember which one) and found no faults.Tried different set of memory cards
Hard disk - run all the disk check and repair utilities, re-formatted, repartitioned. Tried a different hard disk.
OSX 10.5.6 - reinstalled from original disks several times.
MacOSXUpdCombo10.5.8 - downloaded via Software Updater process and direct from Apple Support website. Downloaded via wi-fi, ethernet, different Mac, different PC. Always get the exact same file size.
    Resetting the PRAM etc
    New standby battery
    Installing in Safe Mode
    Swearing.
None of this has worked. I get some different error messages but they are all variations of "codec overrun", "corrupt file" or "Install failure"
Anyone got any other ideas? Or should I just get on with the drinks cabinet conversion?
    Thanks

That message isn't a space available message. If you bring up Disk Utility, how does it say the partition is formatted, ie, partition format, write status, and partition map scheme? Assume SMART status is verified, yes?

In addition to checklists provided by Josh; I would suggest you to perform a repository scan of the system to identify whether any objects were not installed properly and there might be a possible corruption. Use the link mentioned below to perform repository scanning.
How to use Repository Diagnostic Tool - Business Intelligence (BusinessObjects) - SCN Wiki
You can try to repair the install. Also as this is a new install you can directly go for re-installing the software.
PS: Try to re-download the software from the service market place rather than copying the installer from existing one.

  • IPhoto won't open after new install and restore of back-up

    Hi guys
My hard drive just died (for the second time in 6 months!) so I have just gotten the computer back with a new drive. I did a new install of Tiger from my original install CDs, did the download thing to get all the updates, and ran a "restore" from my external drive using iBackup (http://www.grapefruit.ch/iBackup//index.html) to restore all my previous system settings, documents, etc. So far this seems to have worked well, a couple of 3rd party applications didn't re-install - specifically Neo Office and WiFind - but I was able to manually install those and everything seems to be working fine.
Except iPhoto. It won't open. When I click the dock icon it bounces once and does nothing. No little arrow under it or anything. Nothing at all happens when I click the icon in Finder (in the Applications folder). When I searched it in spotlight it told me there was a file called iphoto.crash.log, so I went and had a look at that hoping it would tell me the problem, but I don't understand it. I'm not particularly good at the behind the scenes stuff with computers.
Wondering what I should do now - if someone can perhaps interpret the log file and find the issue if that would help, or if I should uninstall and re-install iPhoto by itself (and if so, how?), or if there is something else that may be causing the issue. I noticed there are a few files relating to it when I search with spotlight but I don't know which of them might be relevant. I could post a screenshot if that is allowed, or post the log file if it would help?
Thanks in advance for any advice or help!
    Regards,
    Chloë

    400 Updates???
Did you Repair Permissions before & after each one?
The usual reason why updates fail or mess things up, or things don't load/run, is if Permissions are not fixed before & after every update, with a reboot... you may get a partial update when the installer finds it doesn't have Permissions to change one obscure little part of the OS, leaving you with a mix of OS versions.
Some people get away without Repairing Permissions for years, some for only days.
If Permissions are wrong before applying an update, you could get mixed OS versions, if Directory is the slightest messed up, who knows!
If many Permission are repaired, or any Directory errors are found, you may need to re-apply some the latest/biggest updates again, or even do an A&I if you have enough free disk space.
The combo update for PowerPC-based Macs...
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosx10411comboupdateppc.html
The combo update for Intel-based Macs...
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosx10411comboupdateintel.html
Repair Permissions before & after re-install, then reboot again each time.
If all the above do not resolve the problem, then it's time for an Archive & Install, which gives you a new OS, but can preserve all your files, pics, music, settings, etc., as long as you have plenty of free disk space...
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120
I only use Software Update to see what is needed, then get them for real via...
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/
That way I can wait a week or so, check the forums for potential problems, and get Permissions & such in order before installing.

  • SCOM agent install fails Error 80070035 - the network path was not found

I have deployed SCOM 2012 agents to most servers (2008, 2008 R2, 2012, 2012R2) in our estate but some either fail to install or are not monitored. I assume the two problems are related, but for now I am concentrating on the servers that fail completely.
Installation is from the Discovery Wizard and I have about 20 servers that fail of various server versions.
So looking at one specific server that is failing to install the agent - a 2008 standard service pack 2
The firewall in on and file and printer sharing is enabled for domain, remote administration is enabled for domain
I added a specific rule to allow TCP 5723 and 5724
    DCOM is enabled
I can Ping the target server from the SCOM server by both name and FQDN - both return the same IP and our DNS server has only one entry for this server
I can browse to the admin share \\server\C$ from the SCOM Server, using the same account that I specify for the agent install that is a domain admin with rights on this server (and on the other servers the agent
did install to) and the server has plenty of disk space available
I am not sure what else to look at so would welcome any ideas
    Thanks

    Hi Petro,
I have a Agent installation failure cheat sheet, For your error 80070035 it is said to perform a manual installation.
So i would like to understand which version of SCOM is this ? 2007 R2 or 2012 or 2012 r2 ?
Also check if your agents have the WMI service started and enabled ?
Also if yours is a SCOM 2007 R2 do you have a RMS & MS in your management group ? If yes then Pushing the agent installation from MS may cause such issue. So would suggest you push the installation from RMS.
Also check if your Network connectivity meets the minimum requirement as recommended by SCOM. Below is applicable for Both SCOM 2007 R2 & SCOM 2012 & 2012 R2.
    Component A
    Component B
    Minimum Requirement
Root management server or management server
    Agent
    64 Kbps
Root management server or management server
    Agentless
    1024 Kbps
Root management server or management server
    Database
    256 Kbps
Also check if you have any Anti virus / Firewall which is blocking the install / communication. If yes disabe or add the "Monitoringhost.exe to the safe list or what your feature is.
Check if you have another IP assigned to the NIC card and remove it tempraurly andchecl.
Also post the event logs of the Agents which are in not monitored state for analysis.

    1.  Check the PATH environment variable.  If the PATH statement is very long, due to lots of installed third party software - this can
fail.  Reduce the path by converting any long filename destinations to 8.3, and remove any path statements that are not necessary.

    %windir%\422C3AB1-32E0-4411-BF66-A84FEEFCC8E2
When you install or remove a management agent, the Operations Manager 2007 management server copies temporary files to the remote computer. One
of these files is named LockFileTime.txt. This lock file is intended to prevent another management server from performing a management agent installation at the same time as the current installation. If the management agent installation is unsuccessful and
if the management server loses connectivity with the remote computer, the temporary files may not be removed. Therefore, the LockFileTime.txt may remain in the folder on the remote computer. When the management server next tries to perform an agent installation,
the management server detects the lock file. Therefore, the management agent installation is unsuccessful.

  • ITunes 10.6.1 install failed

The system attempted to automatically update iTunes recently. It failed. I was busy at the time so I didn't really pay any attention to it. Fast forward a few days to now. When I launch iTunes, I am told "This copy of iTunes is corrupted or is not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes." I tried to do just that. I downloaded the 10.6.1 installer from Apple and attempted to install it. Again, the installation failed. Below are the Console messages. How do I correct this problem? I have already repaired disk permissions, verified the disk, and rebooted. The most notable things I did recently were:
    1) Updated Xcode from the App Store app. When the download and update completed, I accidentally hit the update all button in the App Store app again causing Xcode to start downloading. I immediately paused the download. The paused download disappeared from the App Store app's available updates list but it did appear in Launchpad. I tried to delete paused download from Launchpad and it didn't appear to work but somehow, it is now nowhere to be found in Launchpad.
    2) Streamed videos from my MacBook to my new Apple TV. Incidentally, the Apple TV malfunctioned (all icons but Computers and Settings were displayed) and I had to reset it to factory defaults. It works again.

And how can I uninstall it from a Creative Suite ??
And how can I install then the next full version "directly"??
    And I don't really understand.
Adobe Updater cannot install this update, and tries it again after a month, it is downloading this update once in a month, and when it fails, closes itself,  and says sorry, see you later in november? And when it fails, I cannot say, please stop bugging me with this.
Almost the same problem with the Adobe Media Player, which cannot play even the files advertised in its own browser, : adobe trainings from adobe related sites, and cannot update itself. It's almost brutal. How does this happen?
