New iphone 3G completely frozen

I just upgraded to the 3G...got the new phone yesterday. I was talking on the phone and received 3 text messages while talking. When I went to hang up, I had to close all three messages to push the "end call" button. Once I did this my phone suddenly went blank. I am now unable to start it back up. It is behaving as a dead phone. What dod I do?

Hey awerner,
Try resetting the iPhone by holding the Home & Sleep/Wake buttons until you see an Apple logo on the screen. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305743
If the reset does not work, try restoring the iPhone.

MY iPhone is completely frozen. I did a hardest and finally after 10 times it came up with the iTunes logo with a plug-in sign.  It is still frozen.

You're not alone. I am having similar problems with my Ipod 5th gen 30gb.
When I connect it to my laptop (Vista - basic) it is not recognised by itunes. Itunes simply locks up.
So far I have tried the following to no avail:
Checked my pc's device manager - it recognises the device and says it is functioning properly.
Checked the drivers to make sure they are upt to date.
Uninstalled & reinstalled a previous version of itunes (as it worked fine before the latest release).
    Reinstalled the latest itunes.
    Reset the ipod.
Put the ipod into disk mode and reconnected to itunes.
Have tried to use the windows tool to scan and fix any bad sectors but it fails to complete a scan without locking that up as well.
Placed into disk mode when fully charged and then allowed the battery to drain completely. Then reconnected ipod (in disk mode)and it still is not recognised and locks up itunes.
At this point I dont really want to part with another $300 odd dollars for a new one.

  • While playing a game my iphone went completely frozen, it does not respond to any input, not even to holding down the on/off hey. Any ideas?

Try a reset. That is holding the sleep/wake and home button together until you see the Apple logo and release. That will reset the iPhone, but will not affect your data.
    Thanks! It worked just fine!

If your computer doesn't see the phone when you plug it in, you may have to take it to an Apple Store.

    Try this First...
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
    Release the Buttons...

  • IPhone 4s completely frozen

So, since I got my iPhone 4s last December, it sometimes keeps freezing after long phonecalls. It might do it once or twice a month. It wasnt too regular to worry about it as it normally sorted itself out, as I would just wipe the screen clean and lock it and unlock it a few times using the button on the top of the phone and it would unfreeze without any problems.
Tonight though after being on the phone for around 45 minutes, my phone completly freezes and I can't get it unlocked at all. I cant get into my phone to do anything as I can't swipe it to unlock or turn off.
I have tried to reboot (where you press the lock and the home button until you see the apple logo) a number of times and I have even restored my phone to factory settings but neither thing has worked.
My iPhone is completly up to date (ios 6.0.1) as is my iTunes. My phone is just over a year old too, and no other problems with it. No cracks, knicks or scrapes on it either. It's very well looked after. I have done everything as instructed on the support page and have looked through numerous threads and forums but no suggestion has seemed to help or resolve the issue.
Unfortunatly I don't live near any apple store either so genius bar is a last resort for me.
Any help or suggestions would be really appriciated.
    Thanks in advance.

  • TS3682 I'm trying to set up my new iPhone 5s with my iCloud account.  I backed up my iPhone 4s before I started.  I got an error message about backing up from my mac and my mac had installed an update.  However my new iPhone 5s looks frozen??

I'm trying to set up my new iphone 5s.  I've backed up my icloud for my 4s to my mac.  When I've tried to download from my icloud to my 5S i got an error message and my mac has updated itunes (I think).  My new 5s is just sitting with the apple logo and a bar underneath which has moved about 10% but nothing for about 20 mins.  I can't turn the 5s off?  What do I do?

Problem resoled -  it sorted itself out!!  Thought I'd broken it before I'd even used it.

  • Help!  My iphone is completely frozen!?!  (On maps google earth)

I can't do anything. Can't power it off, can't do anything. Is there anything I can do? Customer support is not open an I am without a phone. Truely disappointing

Hi. Although you can't power it off. Can you perform a hard reset?
Hold the home button and the sleep/wake button on the top right hand part of the iPhone for about ten seconds. Keep them pressed down no matter what. Even if you see that red slider. Keep going until you see the Apple logo.
    Have you tried that?
    Or.
Can you at least plug it into your computer, even though it's frozen and see it in iTunes so you can begin to restore it?
Otherwise, wisk that badboy straight over to the Apple store first thing in the morning.
That's all I can think of to do. Hope it helps.

  • New iphone 3G is frozen

i have a new i phone, i went to use it this AM and nothing works and i can't turn off the phone or any thing i can get calls but cant answer them..
    I need help any one??

Anytime anything doesn't work right, acts buggy, lags, crashes, or if you feel just doesn't seem right, reboot the phone.
I reboot every morning when I undock phone to leave. The OS is very new and will continue to have bugs (just think of Windows 95 and how the running joke was how long can you go before you have to reboot).
    A reset/reboot is:
    Go to Home Screen
    Press and Hold Home Button
Keep holding and press and hold Lock Button
    Keep holding Both
You will see Slide to Turn Off (Don't let go to slide, just keep holding)
The phone will turn off (in time, but screen will look like it has some white lines)
    Keep Holding
When you see the Apple Logo, you can let go.
Turning off via the Slide to Turn off while good and fine to turn off, is more like the Sleep Mode on a computer. Thus any locked up issues in memory remain when you turn back on. A reboot as described is like doing a real Turn off and Turn On on a computer.

  • New iPhone 5s has frozen on Apple screen during initial setup-up?

During the very first setup process and after selecting the option to restore iCloud backup my phone has frozen on the apple screen with the progress bar stopped about  one tenth of the way across. Can't turn off or do anything to change the screen. Any tips?

    OK- update:
    1.  Hold down the power and "home" buttons simultaneously until you see the screen go black and release.
    2.  Watch the Apple reappear and, with it, the progress bar.  If it doesn't fairly quickly creep beyond that one tenth point and appear to be doing something-
    3.  -repeat the two button restart as often as necessary.
(I had to do this about ten times and the last three times I noted the time between the screen going off and the apple logo reappearing got longer.  Finally the progress bar reappeared and seemed to stall and then it disappeared and the Apple logo dimmed.  And VOILA- it worked!!  )

  • My NEW iphone has just frozen. The screen is blank and the only thing showing is a loading sign that is also frozen. What happened? How do I fix this?

    Help!

Kristen, is the "loading" sign a bar which moves( or should move) across the home screen?  Also, have you "activated" it, either via iCloud or iTunes?

  • Completely new iphone logged into someone elses apple id

So recently I got the new iphone 5s (completely sealed in plastic) as a late Christmas present but when I opened it up and tried backing up from my iCloud it asked for the password for someone elses account (I'm not sure anymore but i think it was amandamcvittie@bt???.com??). Anyway, once that came up I decided to leave it there for then and headed over to Apple's Bluewater branch, where it had been purchased, to ask what was wrong. When I got there and approached a worker I was told that there was nothing to worry about and that I should just skip the step and delete the additional account when I got into the system. Another problem was that when the iCloud had been backed up there was an error or something and it went back to the start up screen again (something I was told was unusual but nothing to worry about and which was also ignored) so I had to go through the first few steps again and yet again ignore the amandamcvittie question. Regardless, when we (we being the worker and I) finally reached the main app page of the phone we went to settings and scrolled down to the iTunes and App Store option only to find that the Apple ID was clearly mine. Having seen that we proceeded to check the iCloud option and yet again the account was clearly mine. Unable to find anything that noted the existence of any other account on my phone I was told that there was nothing to worry about and that it probably wasn't anything major. Still slightly unconvinced I went to the App Store to ascertain whether I could download apps without being asked the password for amanda's account. Having downloaded the featured 12 Days of Gifts app without any problem I decided to trust the workers and headed home.
After arriving home and connecting to my internet I pressed one of my apps to begin the downloading process of all my old data (music and apps) and was asked for my password but once I had given my password another pop up asking for amanda's password appeared. Without giving it much thought I simply pressed cancel and the downloading began. Realising what I had done I regretted not taking a screenshot since I was unaware when proof that the amanda account was still stuck in my iphone would appear again but I was not to worry as when I checked my music I saw that there was an unfamiliar album there called 'The Lumineers'. Once everything else had been downloaded this album stayed grey so I pressed it to see what would happen and if the pop up requesting amanda's account password would appear but instead of that it just began flashing and trying to download or something (it looked pretty creepy). I just checked and it is still flashing. This is a picture of the album when I click on it because I did not have the chance to screenshot anything else when it came up.
I could always upload a short clip of the album cover flashing but I can't be bothered right now
I went to the Bluewater branch again today and was told that I could exchange my phone for another one but I didn't have the original receipt with me so I have to go again.
But more importantly I just want to know why there was someone elses apple id on the phone and why there's an album there? I don't mean to jump to conclusions but doesn't this mean that I paid for a new iphone only to find that it had already been used by someone else before? Has anyone else ever had this happen before?

    Hi
Just got my wife a new iphone 5s phone from Three shop and exactly the same has happened. The Apple ID was [email protected] and every time it goes to download an app it asks for their password and then my wife's password. So weird. Taking phone back to the shop tomorrow for a replacement !
