New mail messages will not show on my iPhone until I open mail...

I am on the 1st gen iPhone and no new mail will show up from the home screen (with the little red bubble) until mail is actually opened, and then it checks for mail. For some reason it will not automatically check. Very annoying.
I did a reset by holding the home and top button. No changes. I then restored it. No changes. I am at a loss. Any help is greatly appreciated.

No, I know for fact that it should check or "fetch" every 15 minutes to see if there is any new mail on all accounts that are not pushed. If they are pushed it should be more immediate.

Open Audio Midi Setup in Applications>Utilities, see the input & output options & KHz setting there, some things will change it for their own use, then not set it back.

Mail messages will not send and remain in Outbox

I have a POP using Gmail and it has usually worked extremely well.
Recently I have had a lot of problems with messages I am sending
getting stuck even though the connection doctor indicates not problem.
Error message will sometimes say could not connect to server.
I have restarted etc. and the only way I can get my messages out of the
Outbox is to quit Mail and re-open and then they will go out without
any problem.
Any ideas how to fix this problem permanently??

Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Network, choose Network Port Configurations from the Show popup menu, and make sure that the configuration used to connect to Internet appears at the top of the list. Leave checked (enabled) only the port configuration needed to connect to Internet and Built-in Ethernet (in that order if not the same), uncheck (disable) the rest of network port configurations and see whether that helps — if it doesn’t, turn ON again the ones you want enabled.
Mail keeps information about outgoing (SMTP) servers in a separate list independently of the mail accounts themselves. The account settings just associate one of the available outgoing servers with each account. Orphaned or dangling outgoing server entries (i.e. not associated with any account) sometimes cause weird sending problems. Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts > Account Information > Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP), choose Edit Server List from the popup menu, and delete any servers that shouldn’t be there. The Edit Server List panel shows the account each outgoing server is associated with.
If the problem persists and you have more than one mail account, try moving the account that has the problem to the top of the list in Preferences > Accounts.

New IPod Touch will not show up on iTunes

Hello,
I just purchased an iPod Touch for my son. When we turned it on, it asked to connect to iTunes. I then started iTunes and was told to update it, which I did, after which I connected the IPod. iTunes would not recognize the iPod Touch. We then uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, with the same problem. So effectively I now have a new iPod Touch in the first phase of getting it to work.
I've checked the drivers, and they are fine
I've checked the Apple services and they are running fine
I've shut down nearly all programs that commence on startup, and the iPod will still not show up
I've used all USB ports on my computer, still no response.
I've rebooted the computer numerous times, it still does not show up.
Thanks in advance for any advise that you can give.

Yahoo mail attachments will not show in View Slideshow

receiving mail Yahoo shows two options for attachments - View Slideshow and Download. When trying to View Slideshow, loading gears keeps spinning and spinning but never loads using Firefox 8.0.1
Cache and cookies are cleared regularly and again just now - still no luck. Addons are disabled - still no luck. So Yahoo Customer Care says problem is with Firefox, since it will load on Safari.

I'm with BT Internet which uses Yahoo's Neo Mail and have the same problem (plus others). This applies to every browser I have tried (Firefox, Safari, Chrome, SeaMonkey, Camino, Opera).
I sometimes find opening, closing, re-opening an email prods the slideshow into action.
Problems include: email thumbs don't show pics (slideshow thumbs usually do), pictures will not load in slideshow, if they do only first eight or so load (sometimes cured by scrolling through thumbs in email).
Also slideshow crops many pictures, but is OK full screen.
This is on Macs running 10.6.8 and 10.4.11 with latest versions of Firefox/TenFourFox.
Googling shows other people have this problem.

E mail messages will not stay in iPhone in box

e mails are received in the iphone inbox but once you access the in box they disappear. They do not go to trash or deleted.
This phone is new. What setting have I missed? I want the e mail stay in the inbox for pre determined amount of time or until I manually delete it.

If you are using the Mail.app on your Mac for accessing the account, you cannot change the account type with an existing account. To change the account type for an existing account will require deleting the account and recreating the account.
Although it is possible to access a POP account with more than one email client, a POP account is designed to be accessed with a singe email client only, and trying to access the account as a POP account with one email client and as an IMAP account with another email client is a recipe for problems.
An IMAP account is specifically designed to be accessed with multiple email clients keeping all server stored mailboxes for the account synchronized with the server automatically with each email client used to access the account.

What's New Web Part will not show updates from Team Discussion Web Part

I have a Team Discussion Web Part which I want to show in the "What's New" updates Web Part. I have indexed the "modified" column of the team discussion and added it as a target list for the What's new Web Part, however updates to the Team
Discussion are not showing up in the What's New Web Part.
If I happen to tell the What's New web part to "use the below person column as a filter" and choose "Modified By", the page will crash with an error stating that the What's New web part caused the failure.
Any suggestions?

According to your description, I could reproduce this issue.
The following alternative solution consists in using the " Team Discussion " web part (with a customized view) in place of the " What's New " web part.
Alternative solution steps:
1. Create an index on the “ Modified ” field of the “ Team Discussion ” library in the Site Collection page in which “ What’s New ” web part’s functionality is needed
2. Insert a “ Team Discussion ” web part in the same page and position where the “ What’s New ” web part was intended to be situated, or wherever it is needed
3. Click on the “ Save & Close ” icon to save the page with the new “ Team Discussion ” web part
4. Click on the “ Edit Web Part ” option in the “ Team Discussion ” web part’s context-menu and click on the “ Edit the current view ” link inside the “ List Views ” section of the web part’s settings box
5. Choose the desired display columns in the “ Columns ” section
6. Set the “ Sort ” and “ Filter ” sections settings according to the following screenshot:
7. In Step 6 , likely two identical “ Modified By ” options will be seen inside the “ Filter ” section’s “ when column ” drop-down.
Selecting the second of these two “ Modified By ” options will likely cause the “ Team Discussion ” web part to not work properly, so please make sure to select the first “ Modified By ” option. If, in the unlikely case, after selecting the
first “ Modified By ” option the “ Team Discussion ” web part does not render properly, go back and select the second “ Modified By ” option and the web part should render properly
8. In the “ Item Limit ” section, set the “ Number of items to display ” to the maximal amount of items you would like to be displayed inside the web part (for example: 5 )
9. Click the "OK" to save the settings

My Google Calendar will not show up on iPhone 4S with iOS 7.1.1. What do?

I just got an iPhone 4S (bougtt used through a third party, in case it may make a difference) and I'm having issues connecting Google's calendar.

But so far, nothing has worked.
I should note that I can see the account itself under the Mail, Contacts, Calendars tab, the Calendars option is switched on and all other Google features (e.g. Gmail, notes and contacts) are operating fine. I also have an iPad mini which I bought in June 2013 (first hand) and has been displaying Google Calendar without any issues from Day 1. I've compared the settings on both devices and could not find any difference.
In short, I'm at a complete loss here and would greatly appreciate some help.

Songs purchased on iPhone through iTunes Store will not show up on iPhone after syncing with iTunes

I recently purchased iTunes Match (about a month ago). Since purchasing Match, any songs that I have bought on my iPhone 4S (32GB, Sprint) through the iTunes Store app will not sync back to my iPhone after syncing with iTunes on my computer. I have iOS 7.1.2 and iTunes 11.3.0.54. The only way I can get them to show back up in my iPhone music library so I can play them is by re-downloading the songs through the iTunes Store app. Which is super annoying because now it is about 10 songs that keep doing this, and they are in multiple playlists. Is anyone else having this problem and have you found any fixes? Really regretting purchasing the iTunes Match (which is not enabled on my iPhone, just on my computer).

How to create custom ringtones ...
1. Open iTunes.
2. Find the song that you want to make into a ringtone.
3. Listen to the song and find the part of it you want to use. The chorus may be a good place to start.
4. Write down the start and stop times of the clip.
5. Right-click the song and select "Get Info."
6. Click the "Options" tab.
7. Type in the start time of your ringtone in the text box next to "Start Time" in the minutes:seconds (i.e., 2:01) format.
8. Type in the end time of your ringtone in the text box next to "Stop Time." Make sure the ringtone is no more than 30 seconds long.
9. Click "OK."
10. Right-click your song again and select "Convert Selection to AAC." Wait for iTunes to convert your song. It will create a duplicate version.
11. Right-click the ringtone and select "Delete."
12. Click on the "Keep Files" button.
13. Find the file. It's usually in your User folder under "Music > iTunes > iTunes Music" and under the band's name. It will have an extension of m4a.
14. Replace the m4a extension of your ringtone with m4r. You can either double-click slowly to rename your file, or right-click and select "Get Info" on a Mac or "Rename" on a Windows PC.
15. Click "Use .m4r" or the PC equivalent when the system warns you that the change may affect the use of your file.
16. Double-click the ringtone file. ITunes will automatically add it to your ringtones folder in your iTunes Music Library.
17. Connect your iPhone and sync your ringtones.
Oh, also to change a file extension. (not sure on Mac), but in Windows you need to go to "control panel" select "folder options". You need to uncheck the box "hide file extension for known file types". This will allow you to view and change the files extensions.

I updated to itunes 10.5.1 and my tones will not show up on iphone anywhere.

I have the setting to automatic sync everything. I have click and dragged the ringtones individually. The ringtones show up in my itunes but not on my phone, in fact the 'tones' catagory does not show up in the search section of the phone. HELP. I went to itunes on the phone and it said all purchases avaliable to be downloaded onto the phone were, it listed the songs but not the ringtones. Is the new software not compatible with the old ringtones?

I'm using a BlackBerry 8900, though that's obvious I suppose, on a BES server at a University. We recently shifted everyone at the U to a new server and now although I have notifications that there are 32000+ messages in my inbox, I can't see any of them. I have no idea what to do at the moment. The IT guy who handles BB's is out on vacation, apparently he's the only one who has our technical service code (ridiculous), and Google is failing me today. So far I have tried removing the battery. I would rather not wipe the BB as we just did that last week and are still dealing with the issues resulting from that. Does anyone have any ideas?

My new flash drive will not show up on my macbook pro?

It's really strange because I know my usb ports are working, the flash drive works perfectly fine on the mac desktops at my school and if I open up system profile it shows that it's plugged in! But it won't show up anywhere for me to actually access it! Not on my desktop, not in my finder, I've tried searching for it and checked to make sure I have my finder settings checked to show external drives on the desktop and in the sidebar in finder windows. I checked on one of the desktops and it is formated as...FAT 32 bit I think? something like that. I've also restarted a couple times already and plugged and unplugged it a few times to try and get it to work. The last time I plugged in someone else' flash it showed up too so I don't know why this one won't show up, I've looked everywhere to figure out why it might not be working, but I need it to work so I can get my school work off my school computer before the end of the semester!
If anyone can give me some suggestions or help I would really appreciate it!

Press the Repair Disk button. If it doesn't find any issues or repairs those it finds, press Mount.

Artist name will not show up on iphone 5s

I have synced my iTunes correctly. On my iTunes, the artist name show up. On my iPhone it is labled as "unkonw artist". but when I play the song, it will scroll the name of the song and the name of the artist.
any ideas how to correctly put the album with the artist instead of the "unkown".
Like I said, on my iTunes on my iMac it is organized and labled perfectly.
On my iPhone, it is labled as "unknown artist", except when I hit play, it will display the artist name.
