New management scope based on database and organizational unit

hi
i have some exchange 2010 SP servers and want to delegate some tasks to some other guys so wanna use RBAC
i want those guys to have some commands in an specific OU and specific databases cause in that OU there are some people with a database i do not like to be touched and also that database has some mailboxes with users in other OU's
so i want filter on both database and OU but this command does not work
New-ManagementScope -Name "Test" -RecipientRoot "domain.com/myou" -RecipientRestrictionFilter {RecipientType -eq "UserMailbox"} -DatabaseRestrictionFilter {Name -Like "db*" }
Error
Parameter set cannot be resolved using the specified named parameters.
    + CategoryInfo          : InvalidArgument: (:) [New-ManagementScope], ParameterBindingException
    + FullyQualifiedErrorId : AmbiguousParameterSet,New-ManagementScope
but when i do this separate foe each one it works
i mean this works
New-ManagementScope -Name "Test" -RecipientRoot "domain.com/myou" -RecipientRestrictionFilter {RecipientType -eq "UserMailbox"}
and also this :
New-ManagementScope -Name "Test" -DatabaseRestrictionFilter {Name -Like "db*" }
but along together, :-? the error above
what am i missing here ?

Hi,
"DatabaseRestrictionFilter" and "RecipientRestrictionFilter" parameters cannot be used together.
I recommend you refer to the following article:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd335137(v=exchg.141).aspx
Parameter
Description
DatabaseRestrictionFilter
The DatabaseRestrictionFilter parameter specifies the filter to   apply to database objects. Only database objects that match the filter are   included in the scope. If you use the
DatabaseRestrictionFilter   parameter, you can't use the RecipientRestrictionFilter,
ServerRestrictionFilter,   RecipientRoot, DatabaseList, or
ServerList   parameters. For a list of filterable database properties, see
Understanding   Management Role Scopes.
RecipientRestrictionFilter
The RecipientRestrictionFilter parameter specifies the filter to   apply to recipient objects. Only recipient objects that match the filter are   included in the scope. If you use the
RecipientRestrictionFilter   parameter, you can't use the DatabaseRestrictionFilter,
DatabaseList,   ServerList, or ServerRestrictionFilter parameters. For a   list of filterable properties, see
Filterable   Properties for the -Filter Parameter.
Thanks.

so let's do it the other way
assume John has no permission on OU A but i have created an RBAC for him to have full access on Database  DB1
Can john enable or create mailbox for a user OU A in Database DB1 ? or because he has no access (delegated permission) on that OU, he can do nothing with a user in there ?

  • 'Person Type' and 'Organizational Unit' symbols in BPMN?

    What is the purpose of 'Person Type' and 'Organizational Unit' symbols in BPMN diagrams? If I place any of those two into my diagram, I can't connect either to anything else.
    I think those symbols simply don't belong in BPMN. My wild guess would be that someone simply forgot to remove them from the Symbols toolbar.

    Hello all,
    this is not a bug - although the idea behind it is a little bit hidden. Sidda you're right, the object cann't be connected with the standard BPMN object types within the BPMN diagram of the BPA Suite. On the other hand the mentioned objects can be conected with a function but only on an EPC diagram (and from an EPC derived diagram types).
    Within the BPMN it is slightly more complicated. Due to the fact that the BPMN implementation within the BPA Suite is not 100% OMG compliant (in the actual version 10.1.3.3) the appearance is a little bit mixed.
    Never the less, the mentioned objects can be used. You simply have to create a relationship between the object types (e.g. person type, organizational unit) with a pool or a lane. Based on this you can create ARIS like relationships inside of the repository. The reason for that is that you are capable to link the BPMN artifacts with the proprietary ARIS world. For analysis purposes this is very powerful.

  • How Employee groups and Organizational units are related

    Hi All,
    I had a requirement for bulk upload of Appraisal documents.
    I am an ABAP Consultant.
    Here client wants the Employee group as a Selection Criteria.
    Based on this I had a query how can I get Organizational units from Employee group.
    Actually this is my requirement and if any alternate solutions & suggestions are also welcome.
    Thanks for your time.

    Hi Madhu,
    Thanks for your reply, it is helpful and I need this query.
    Suppose for an organizational unit there will be subordinate organizational unit.
    That means how can I found whether is there any subordinate organizational unit for any organizational unit.
    Hi Ananth,
    But the requirement is in selection screen only Employee group will be available.
    Based on that we need to provide logic. So, I hope above solution is not helping me because they do not want to create appraisal documents person by person. Please guide me.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Installing new SSD into older MacBook Pro and Organization Questions!!?

    Hello,
    I am about to pull the trigger on a new Samsung 840 Pro 512gb ssd for my older Macbook Pro 5,3 with 2.66 Intel Core 2 Duo.
    I need some advice or at least point me in the direction of where I can read up to date info on properly executing the install of my new ssd.
    A little background:
    I have a Seagate 500gb external hdd that has many older pictures/videos on it as well as my "just about full" 320gb hdd on this computer that will be getting the 512ssd.
    Any comments/suggestions a to how I can organize all of this and have it in one accessable place? (I was planning on installing the 512ssd on this computer, putting everything on the 512ssd and then wiping the external drive and using it as a backup periodically in case something went wrong with the new ssd I would be installing on this computer.  Follow me? Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.
    I've been telling my wife that we NEED to replace this drive before we lose many of our important pictures and other items on it.  We have used 319gb of which 45gb is still available.  I am nervous as this hdd is about 6-7 years old?
    The pictures/videos are the most important to us and do not want to lose them.  Thanks, in advance, for your help!

    How to use an SSD with your HDD
    If you are going to use an SSD as a boot drive together with your existing HDD as the "data" drive, here's what you can do.
    After installing the SSD you will need to partition and format the SSD using Disk Utility. Then, install OS X on the SSD. After OS X has been installed boot from the SSD. Use Startup Disk preferences to set the SSD as the startup volume.
    Open Users & Groups preferences. Click on the lock icon and authenticate. CTRL- or RIGHT-click on your user account listing in the sidebar and select Advanced Options from the context menu.
    You will see a field labeled "Home dir:" At the right end you will see a Change button. Click on it. In the file dialog locate the Home folder now located on the HDD (HDD/Users/account_name/.) Select the folder, click on Open button. Restart the computer as directed.
    When the computer boots up it will now be using the Home folder located on the HDD.
    Another more technical method involving the Terminal and aliases is discussed in depth here: Using OS X with an SSD plus HDD setup - Matt Gemmell. This is my preferred approach because I can select which of the Home's folders I want on the HDD and which I don't want. For example, I like to keep the Documents and Library folders on the SSD because I access their content frequently.
    Be sure you retain the fully bootable system on your HDD in case you ever need it.

  • SQL Server 2012 Management Studio: Creating a Database and a dbo Table. Inserting VALUES into the table. How to insert 8 Values for future use in XQuery?

    Hi all,
    In my SQL Server 2012 Management Studio (SSMS2012), I tried to create a Database (MacLochainnsDB) and a dbo Table (marvel). then I wanted insert 8 VALUES into the Table by using the following code:
    USE master
    IF EXISTS
    (SELECT 1
    FROM sys.databases
    WHERE name = 'MacLochlainnsDB')
    DROP DATABASE MacLochlainnsDB
    GO
    CREATE DATABASE MacLochlainnsDB
    GO
    CREATE TABLE [dbo].[marvel] (
    [avenger_name] [char] (30) NULL)
    INSERT INTO marvel
    (avenger_name)
    VALUES
    ('Hulk', 1),
    ('Iron Man', 2),
    ('Black Widow', 3),
    ('Thor', 4),
    ('Captain America', 5),
    ('Hawkeye', 6),
    ('Winter Soldier', 7),
    ('Iron Patriot', 8)
    I got the following error Message:
    Msg 110, Level 15, State 1, Line 5
    There are fewer columns in the INSERT statement than values specified in the VALUES clause. The number of values in the VALUES clause must match the number of columns specified in the INSERT statement.
    How can I correct this problem?
    Please kindly help and advise.
    Thanks in advance,
    Scott Chang
    P. S.
    The reason I tried to create the Database, dbo Table, and then to insert the VALUES is to learn the following thing:
    You can query the entire node tree with the following xquery statement because it looks for the occurrence of any node with the /* search string:
    DECLARE @x xml;
    SET @x = N'<marvel>
    <avenger_name>Captain America</avenger_name>
    </marvel>';
    SELECT @x.query('/*');
    You can query the avenger_name elements from the marvel_xml table with the following syntax:
    SELECT xml_table.query('/marvel/avenger_name')
    FROM marvel_xml;
    It returns the following set of avenger_name elements:
    <avenger_name>Hulk</avenger_name>
    <avenger_name>Iron Man</avenger_name>
    <avenger_name>Black Widow</avenger_name>
    <avenger_name>Thor</avenger_name>
    <avenger_name>Captain America</avenger_name>
    <avenger_name>Hawkeye</avenger_name>
    <avenger_name>Winter Soldier</avenger_name>
    <avenger_name>Iron Patriot</avenger_name>
    You can query the fourth avenger_name element from the marvel_xml table with the following xquery statement:
    SELECT xml_table.query('/marvel[4]/avenger_name')
    FROM marvel_xml;
    It returns the following avenger_name element:
    <avenger_name>Thor</avenger_name>

    Hi Scott,
    The master database records all the system-level information for a SQL Server system, so best practise would be not to create any user-defined
    object within it.
    To change your default database(master by default) of your login to another, follow the next steps so that next time when connected you don't have to use "USE dbname" to switch database.
    Open SQL Server Management Studio
    --> Go to Object explorer(the left panel by default layout)
    --> Extend "Security"
    --> Extend "Logins"
    --> Right click on your login, click "propertites"
    --> Choose the "Default database" at the bottom of the pop-up window.
    --or simply by T-SQL
    Exec sp_defaultdb @loginame='yourLogin', @defdb='youDB'
    Regarding your question, you can reference the below.
    SELECT * FROM master.sys.all_objects where name ='Marvel'
    --OR
    SELECT OBJECT_ID('master.dbo.Marvel') --if non empty result returns, the object exists
    --usually the OBJECT_ID is used if a if statement as below
    IF OBJECT_ID('master.dbo.Marvel') IS NOT NULL
    PRINT ('TABLE EXISTS') --Or some other logic
    What is the sys.all_objects? See
    here.
    If you have any question, feel free to let me know.

  • Team Calendar and Organizational Units layout

    Has anyone come up with a way to display the Team Calendar in such a way where it is organized by org unit instead of alphabetically?
    I have a manager who manages 3 different org units (multiple pages), and would like to view the Team Calendar by org unit rather than all 3 org units shown alphabetically....
    I'm currently using the MSS_LEA_EE  view, but without any success.  Since the Team Calendar appears to be a "view only" application without any navigation capabilities, this appears to be the only course of action.
    Thanks!
    Michael Gibbs

    UPDATE:
    After some researching and experimenting, here's what I've come up with:
    Mgr A manages Org Unit 1, 2, 3
    Mgr B manages Org Unit 4, 5
    Mgr C manages Org Unit 6
    Using TMW, I created selection ID's based on an adhoc query of various org units...Now when a manager logs in and views the team calendar (in the approval screen), they can use a pull-down menu, and select any org unit (1-6), and view the appropriate calendar.
    Of course, after time this drop down make become very large as more org units are added, so the question is this...Is there a way to set it up where a manager can log on, and using the Approval Team Calendar drop-down menu, only see the org units that he/she manages, without having to scroll through all of the others?
    I'm more than willing to award points.....

  • Add a new datafile to the standby database

    Hi,
    i have a standby database in recovery managed mode.
    Now i must add a new datafile on the production database and i would like
    to know how i realized adding the new datafile on the stanby database.
    is it right when i do the follow steps?
    Before i add a datafile to the primary database,
    cancel the recovery on the standby database.
    -> add the new datafile on the primary database
    after all archived redo logs have been applied, cancel managed recovery:
    alter database recover managed standby database cancel;
    startup nomount
    alter database mount standby database;than
    ALTER DATABASE CREATE DATAFILE '/oracle/DB1/db1_9/data9' as '/oracle/DB1/db1_9/data9';
    alter database recover managed standby database disconnect;Thanks

    8.4.1.1 Adding a Tablespace and a Datafile When STANDBY_FILE_MANAGEMENT Is Set to AUTO
    The following example shows the steps required to add a new datafile to the primary and standby databases when the STANDBY_FILE_MANAGEMENT initialization parameter is set to AUTO.
    Add a new tablespace to the primary database:
    SQL> CREATE TABLESPACE new_ts DATAFILE 't_db2.dbf'
    2> SIZE 1m AUTOEXTEND ON MAXSIZE UNLIMITED;
    Archive the current redo log so it will get copied to the standby database:
    SQL> ALTER SYSTEM ARCHIVE LOG CURRENT;
    Verify that the new datafile was added to the primary database:
    SQL> SELECT NAME FROM V$DATAFILE;
    NAME
    /disk1/oracle/dbs/t_db1.dbf
    /disk1/oracle/dbs/t_db2.dbf
    Verify that the new datafile was added to the standby database:
    SQL> SELECT NAME FROM V$DATAFILE;
    NAME
    /disk1/oracle/dbs/s2t_db1.dbf
    /disk1/oracle/dbs/s2t_db2.dbf
    8.4.1.2 Adding a Tablespace and a Datafile When STANDBY_FILE_MANAGEMENT Is Set to MANUAL
    The following example shows the steps required to add a new datafile to the primary and standby database when the STANDBY_FILE_MANAGEMENT initialization parameter is set to MANUAL. You must set the STANDBY_FILE_MANAGEMENT initialization parameter to MANUAL when the standby datafiles reside on raw devices.
    Add a new tablespace to the primary database:
    SQL> CREATE TABLESPACE new_ts DATAFILE 't_db2.dbf'
    2> SIZE 1m AUTOEXTEND ON MAXSIZE UNLIMITED;
    Verify that the new datafile was added to the primary database:
    SQL> SELECT NAME FROM V$DATAFILE;
    NAME
    /disk1/oracle/dbs/t_db1.dbf
    /disk1/oracle/dbs/t_db2.dbf
    Perform the following steps to copy the tablespace to a remote standby location:
    Place the new tablespace offline:
    SQL> ALTER TABLESPACE new_ts OFFLINE;
    Copy the new tablespace to a local temporary location using an operating system utility copy command. Copying the files to a temporary location will reduce the amount of time that the tablespace must remain offline. The following example copies the tablespace using the UNIX cp command:
    % cp t_db2.dbf s2t_db2.dbf
    Place the new tablespace back online:
    SQL> ALTER TABLESPACE new_ts ONLINE;
    Copy the local copy of the tablespace to a remote standby location using an operating system utility command. The following example uses the UNIX rcp command:
    %rcp s2t_db2.dbf standby_location
    Archive the current redo log on the primary database so it will get copied to the standby database:
    SQL> ALTER SYSTEM ARCHIVE LOG CURRENT;
    Use the following query to make sure that managed recovery is running. If the MRP or MRP0 process is returned, managed recovery is being performed.
    SQL> SELECT PROCESS, STATUS FROM V$MANAGED_STANDBY;
    Verify that the datafile was added to the standby database after the redo log was applied to the standby database.
    SQL> SELECT NAME FROM V$DATAFILE;
    NAME
    /disk1/oracle/dbs/s2t_db1.dbf
    /disk1/oracle/dbs/s2t_db2.dbf

  • Creating new Managed Servers on remote machines

    Hi,
    We have a multi-machine domain already in place. Nodemanager is configured and we're using the architecture suggested in Oracle SOA Enterprise Deployment Guide, where we have one domain home for the AdminServer and one domain home for the Managed servers. Right now what we need to know is how to add new managed servers in the easiest and fastest way possible on the mserver home on both the adminserver local machine and on the remote machine, this is a development environment and we need to be able to quickly create and delete these servers for developers to work.
    We know that the standard way of doing it is doing a pack (for the managed servers only), and then an unpack on the mserver home both on local and remote machine after changing the root directory of these servers to match those homes. Here is were we have our first doubts. Do the unpack command command has to be run with the already running servers down? Does this pack and unpack process affects what we already have deployed on the running managed servers? And last but not least, is there any way to automate this process? Because we need to give the developers the ability to create clusters on the environment through the admin server console, but without giving them access to the underlying operating system.
    If this seems like a newbie question is because we are, we're just in the process of migrating oas 10g to weblogic 11g and there are tons of basic administration stuff that seem pretty strange for us, we've looked through the Oracle manuals and metalink but even though some show you how to create the domain with remote managed servers for the first time, we couldn't find any mention on how to add the mserver efficiently after that.
    Thanks!

    Cris,
    Thanks again for your help, we're trying to figure out how to present this procedure to our customer, just one thought though, we were thinking about moving away from the architecture presented by de SOA Enterprise Deployment guide, and using a single domain home located on the shared storage, that way we could create the managed servers from the admin console without having to use pack/unpack and deciding where to run the servers just by configuring machines and nodemanager. However, we haven't seen this kind of configuration anywhere on Oracle manuals, is there any other problem you are aware of in this idea? We're using a storage with multipath for the shared disk so we're not very concerned about availability (and if the storage went down the weblogic domain would be the least of our problems).
    Regards, Franco.

  • Integrating existing staff database and LDAP server - where to start?

    Hi,
    I really hope you guys can help me out here. Basically I have an Oracle based staff database and an LDAP server for global intranet application authentication. Now I've been tasked with implementing Oracle Portal for a local Intranet site, adding the usual static HR info, but also writing an editor for the staff database, some reports on other databases, and some simple workflows to authorise page updates, etc. I'm kind of stumped on where to start in integrating everything together. What's the best approach? Can I simply rewrite the views used by the portal to look at my staff tables, or do I need to refresh into the portal somehow? That being the case, how do I prevent users editing their data (as it'll be overwritten) Is it easy to authenticate against a third party LDAP server? If so, how? Plug-in in OID? Can I change the views in the portal to look at the data in my existing staff DB instead of the local portal tables? Many questions, I know, but Oracle's documentation is like diet food - lots of bulk with very little by way of calories. Getting very disillusioned with the whole thing to be honest, so some motivational success stories would be nice too!

  • How to link Organization Units and Entities in Oracle Designer 9i 9.0.2.8 ?

    Hi,
    I am working with Oracle Designer in a project where we need to asses the Business Process Model of the customer, mapping it in Oracle Designer.
    The Customer wants to see the relationship between Business Entity and Organization Units and Processes.
    We are following this approach:
    - define Entity
    - define Organization Unit
    - draw process models with Oracle Designer Process Modeler, defining the single process steps and indicating the Organization Unit who performs that activity;
    - draw a Data Flow Diagram for each Entity with Oracle Designer Data Flow Diagrammer, including the business function we have defined as process steps within the Process Modeler.
    Process Modeler allows us to link process steps to Organization Units, while Data Flow Diagrammer links Entity to business functions ( which are equal to our process steps). So we expect that for the "transitive properties" Organization Units should be linked automatically to Entity.
    At the end, using Oracle Designer Matrix Diagrammer we only see the relationship between Business Functions and Entity and not the one between Organization Unit and Entity .
    In fact, if we open Object Repository Navigator and check the property "Business Unit Entity Usage" of the Business Unit, there is no evidence of the entity related to the business function performed by the Organization/Business Unit.
    Could someone helps us to understand how to use correctly the Oracle Designer Tools ?
    We look forward to hearing from you.
    Regards
    Flavia Ercoli & Rodrigo Silveira

    I would recommend the 10g version anyday over the previous versions. If you use any of the other supporting apps (forms, reports, portal....) your already at a much better release :)
    Is there a reason you would want to use the prior version?

  • Usage of Department/Staff switch in Organizational Unit

    Hi All,
    Just would like to know the detail usage of the Department/Staff switch for the Organizational Unit. Currently neither the Department nor the Staff switch is selected for all the organizational units created. What would be the effect and impact if I set the Department switch for the organizational unit?
    Thanks a lot,
    Francis

    Hi Francis,
    A staff flag does not have to be marked as such. It does, however, influence the presentation of positions and organizational units in the graphic. Positions or organizational units marked with a staff flag are shown in the graphic next to their respective superior nodes. Without a staff flag they are shown under the superior node.
    As for the department,marking an org unit is optional and relates to integration.
    If integration with Payroll Accounting is active, certain records are written from Personnel Management to Master Data. If you flag organizational units as departments, only the marked units are written to Master Data.
    Marking units as departments makes sense when your organizational structure includes organizational units that are not actual departments (for example, a special project team).
    NOTE: In order for the department marks to be recognized, you must also make adjustments in Customizing.
    Department Switch in T77S0 (PPABT PPABT):
        o   0 = causes the organizational unit directly above a position     to
            be read
        o   1 = causes the organizational unit with a department flag
            (infotype 1003 "Department/Staff") above a position to be read
    Hope this helps.
