New PDF created each time I open a link

Hi,
I have an app that lists a bunch of PDFs that are located on device. Each time I select a PDF, it is opened with Reader and a NEW revision of the PDF appears to be created.
So, if the original PDF was TEST.PDF, Adobe Reader creates TEST(1).PDF, TEST(2).PDF each time the PDF is opened from an external app.
This means that the original annotations exist in the first document and cannot be combined unless this is manully opened from within Reader.
The reverse is true for the way Adobe Reader operates on Android. The original file (TEST.PDF) is opened each time and so you are only ever working with a single version of the file.
Is there any solution to this?
Thanks, Donal

Hi,
We understand your concern. But this is how Apple OS supports viewing of documents across different apps. Whenever you open pdf file in Adobe Reader from Dropbox or any other app, a local copy will be saved in the Adobe Reader area. So making any changes in Adobe Reader will not reflected back to file present in dropbox or any other app. This is an OS limitation.
For a workaround what you can do is, update the pdf file in Adobe Reader and then mail it/ open it in any other app.
Thanks,
Ankit

  • Re-occuring new Stickies notes each time I open

Hopefully someone has the knowledge to tackle this one: every time I restart my computer, stickies opens with a new blank note. Now, I don't mind that stickies opens with my computer, but those blank notes (if not deleted) become irritating. Could you tell me how I could get rid of that problem?
(PS- I've already deleted the "StickiesDatabase" file from Library and re-created my old stickies... problem still occurs)

    Hi Brian,
As long as you have Stickies in your startup folder it will put a fresh note window on your dektop at startup.
If that is annoying, you could do this:
With Stickies open, click on its icon in the dock and select
"keep in dock". Then open System Preferences, select "Accounts" and under startup items, delete Stickies. Then Stickies will no longer load at startup, but you'll have it handy in the dock when you need it.
    Hope this helps.

You may want to try a newer version of Java and a newer version of Eclipse. Helios is quite old already.

  • Premiere Creates New .CFA files every time I open the project

I have a project that contains 2 long (70 min.) clips.  Each time I open the project, Premiere conforms the audio for both clips.  I save the project, close Premiere, open it right back up and it starts conforming the audio again.
I have tried changing where Premiere stores the audio preview files, but no matter what I do, Premiere puts the .CFA files where it wants.
I have 8 versions of the same .CFA files - and the next time I open Premiere, I'll have 9.
Any help would be much appreciated!

I took a look at the Troubleshooting link you posted, and it was a little helpful but isn't quite up to date.  For example, it says to specify a new location for conformed audio files by choosing Edit > Preferences > Scratch Disks, which isn't an actual menu tree in CS4.  Here is how I've set things up:
I have gone to  Edit > Preferences > Media and set the location for Media Cache Files to C:\PPro_Video and set the Media Cache Database to the same folder.  When prompted, I chose to delete the existing Media Cache database file.  I left the "save media cache files next to originals when possible" box unchecked.
Then I have gone to Project > Project Settings > Scratch Disks and set the Audio and Video Preview files to the same folder (C:\PPro_Video)
I saved the project, closed Premiere, and deleted everything inside C:\PPro_Video.
I restarted Premiere and opened my project.  Premiere created three folders inside C:\PPro - Media Cache, Media Cache Files, and Adobe Premiere Preview Files.  I then waited while Premiere created the .CFA and .PEK files inside C:\PPro\Media Cache Files.  Once they were done, I closed Premiere.
Reopened the project.  Premiere immediately begins to conform the audio again.  I look inside C:\PPro\Media Cache Files and see new versions of PEK and CFA files being created with the same file names suffixed by an _1.
Setting aside, for the moment, that using my C drive for a scratch disc might not be optimal, what am I doing wrong?

  • Installed ScanSnap and now receive a request to change my harddrive each time I open a pdf.

I recently installed a ScanSnap and it changed my Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional to the point where each time I open this program or even a pdf file, I receive a User Account Control warning message asking whether the "Adobe Acrobat application program can make changes to the hard drive on this computer."
Any way to fix this so I can open up both program and pdfs without this warning?

If you updated your existing account then try logging out of it on the iPad by tapping on the id in Settings > iTunes & App Stores and then log back in and see if that 'refreshes' the account on the iPad.

Thanks for the advice. In my case, it is sufficient to '''uncheck''' " Saved passwords".
('''''Preferences -> Privacy -> Clear History when Firefox closes -> Settings -> Saved Passwords''''').
    Great to have Sync. :)

Probably far too old to register. Sounds like a bug, stopping the "never" selection from working. You may be stuck with it.

    Extensions.
    1. Empty Caches
        Safari > Preference > Advanced
Checkmark the box for "Show Develop menu in menu bar".
Develop menu will appear in the Safari menu bar.
Click Develop and select "Empty Caches" from the dropdown.
    2. Delete Cookies
Safari > Preferences > Privacy > Cookies and other website data:

  • My iPhoto application rebuilds each time I open it. How do I avoid?

Each time I open iPhoto warning appears...need to upgrade library...then inconsistencies appear need to rebuild etc. etc.  But nothing changes permanently.  Why not?  How to fix?

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • "Welcome to Itunes" each time I open itunes

    Hi all,
Only recently, each time i open up itunes, I get a screen "Welcome to Itunes" and it wan't to take me through steps to set up my library and import songs etc. I don't want to do anything that might possibly cancel my music library, so I say "Cancel" but it keeps popping up each time I open itunes.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,

Has anyone solved this "Welcome To iTunes" popup every time you start iTunes? I get it every time. I run Windows XP Pro, iTunes 8.0.2.20, iPod Classic 120GB firmware 2.0.1. I don't believe iTunes has updated itself once since I've installed it (just bought my iPod a month ago).
I tried the shortcut fix I've read all over the internet, about deleting the original shortcut and creating a new one, etc.. to no avail.
All I have to do is click "cancel" on the "Welcome to iTunes" popup when I start iTunes and I get into iTunes normally with all my settings/music intact, but it is just a pain in the but and if someone else comes and uses my PC and clicks through the wizard without clicking "cancel" I'd probably lose everything.
Please help... A couple hundred bucks dropped on this cool gadget and it should work...shouldn't it?

  • Beachball in about 7 seconds each time I open iPhoto '09

My mac crashed yesterday while I had iPhoto open. After this, each time I open it, it freezes and I get that nasty beachball. I tried to do some research to see if I could avoid asking any questions, so I:
-moved the cache to the trash and emptied
-moved the preference file to the trash and emptied
-used iPhoto Library Manager to repair
-created new Library and tried to move original one into it
Any way I slice it, iPhoto freezes and I have to force quit.
    Please help me troubeshoot (fix).
    Thanks!!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Does the new library work if you just import a few photos at a time? It if does then the original library is damaged and may not be repairable. If the new library also crashes, etc. log into another account on your Mac, create a test library and see if iPhoto will launch and work as it should there. If not then a reinstall of iPhoto is indicated. To do so you'll have to delete the current application and all files with "iPhoto" in the file name that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder before installing iPhoto.
If iPhoto works in the other Mac account OK your primary account is the culprit. It could be a preference file other than iPhoto. Here's how to determine if that's the case:
    Trouble Shooting Preferences in Leopard
1 - Create a folder titled "Preferences A" on the Desktop.
2 - Open the working Preferences folder, HD/Users/your_name/Library/Preferences, and move the contents to the Preferences A folder on the Desktop.
3 - Make a duplicate copy of the Preferences A folder on the Desktop as a precautionary backup.
4 - With the working Preferences folder empty run the application again and determine if the problems is fixed.
NOTE: you may have to drag the contents of the working folder to the trash and empty if moving the contents to the A folder only copies them instead of moving.
5 - If the problem is fixed:
A - open the working Preferences folder (HD/Users/your_name/Library/Preferences).
B - Open the Preferences A folder on the Desktop, select all of the contents and drag them into the working Preferences folder.
C - When the Copy window pops up check the "Apply to All" check box and then click on the Don't Replace button as seen here.
6 - If the problem is NOT fixed, empty the working Preferencess folder and move the contents of the Preferences folder on the desktop back into it.
