New yet dysfunctional email format

I went away from email for a few days and on my return found that the support communities had "upgraded" the discussion activity emails. The new styling is nice, but...
the message body formatting doesn't seem to play well with forum formatting (particularly with applescript code), and gets a little hard to read
the 3-inch tall block of empty space containing the words "New Discussion Activity" is ridiculous. I know it's new discussion activity because - hey - I got an email, so all this does is force me to scroll to read any but the shortest messages.
It would be really, really, really nice if you someone made the following changes:
cut the "new discussion activity" banner to a quarter of its size (or less if possible), so that it's not such an annoyance.
put a link to the forum discussion in that banner so that we don't have to scroll to the bottom of the page if we want to reply to the comment
fix the formatting issues.
Thanks in advance.

They are part of and connected to Apple proper.
Ok, that's useful info.

And beside which, I know (from long experience) that Apple contact mechanisms rarely accomplish anything
You mean you have no have no evidence of it.
Chris, I've been around Apple products for a very long time. I've submitted a number of bug reports both for apple software and for the communities website over the years. On the main apple site, the fastest I ever heard back was after roughly a year and a half. And 80% of the bugs I've reported are still listed as open, with no commentary whatsoever. Apple can do as it likes with people those of us who take time out of their day to register a problem, and they are under no obligation either to comment on it or act on it, but as an organization they are decidedly unresponsive. I'm not trying to be mean - I do like apple as a general rule - but in this particular domain it's more like a crabapple.
Which reminds me, they just contacted me about a bug I'd forgotten I'd reported for Mavericks, saying they may have fixed it in Yosemite. Maybe that's a new speed record. I do need to test it out and get back to them, though.

  • New message notification email format

Received several forum message notifications this morning with a new format, hopefully just a transient glitch
The new format had lots of blank lines interspersed with the first few lines of text, pushing the Subject, Author
and link lines off the bottom of the window, requiring a scroll down to see them.  Makes reviewing the notifications
much slower.  Any chance this is an aberration and we will get the old format back?
    Thanks.

    Solved!

Never occurred to me that someone would embed pictures in an email.
It sure looks like it is related to embedded graphics, but when I look at the message source
there are no links, just text with lots of newlines.
Client is Firefox 3.0.4.  Worked fine until this morning, then all of a sudden the format changed.
Don't see an option to display inline graphics, not that I would want to.

  • Go back to the old Email format

The new Verizon Yahoo email format sucks. Its more difficult to forward a message. You cannot check to see who is sending the message. The little messages are cute but serve no purpose. The filtering works no better with version than with the old. All in all its a dud.

The problem is on the Yahoo side. Yahoo has changed its email format--now called "Neo"--and it's just awful.
From reading here in the forum, apparently there is a way to "detach" your Verizon email account from Yahoo but I don't know how it's done--I don't have a Verizon/Yahoo email account--and, I don't know if you would lose all of your existing email if you do separate from Yahoo so I'd suggest posting here in the forum to ask those questions.
You might also want to take a look at the following thread. The first post outlines the steps to switch to Yahoo mail "Basic" format which many people have switched to as a way of partially getting around the current Neo implementation:

  • New Email Format

Rather than an idea, this is a plea for help because I was unable to find another place through Online Support to make a complaint.
The changes recently made to the email format (around 1/20/2011) for how to select email contacts when trying to send a message are HORRIBLE.  You can no longer select the email address from a list that contains the contact's actual name.  As I'm sure you are aware, many people don't use their actual names in their email addresses.  They use any combination of initials, numbers, and sometimes names that mean nothing to anyone but themselves.  In 2011, we all have hundreds of email contacts, and just like phone numbers, we don't keep them in our heads, but select them from directories that we pay for through our service contracts.  Since the changes were made, the list to select email addresses is just all mushed together with the email addresses running from one line to the other.  You can’t even see the entire address.  PLEASE go back to giving us a list that contains the person's actual names so we will be able to select contacts.  I am a triple-play customer who also has wireless service, but if some changes aren’t made, I will have to change to another provider.   I will have to cancel it all because since 1/20/2011 (the past 4 days) I have been unable to send several emails because I don’t know people’s email addresses;  I need to see their name beside it.  Today, we all use email, texting, etc. to contact our friends and colleagues.  I’m sure I can’t be the only person who dislikes this or who has complained.  And, it’s not merely a matter of disliking the new way, it is unusable; Verizon is causing me to lose communication with my contacts. Whoever made the decision to change the selection of email addresses to this new way is a terrible designer and, at the very least, should be reprimanded.  AND, I hate the way these severe changes are always made to the email access without any warning or instructions on what the changes have been or how to use them.   Please provide a more user-friendly environment.

I have to agree with most of the opinions mentioned here. The new email format is absolutely more cumbersome to use, not very practical, and doesn't perform as well as the old version. It also looks ugly and confusing.  All the teeny-tiny window areas in which to view anything is horrible. I tried changing my Settings in my Mail area, however, after half an hour on three  separate occasions, of trying to 'SAVE' my settings, I gave up. I cannot change my email settings to a "Classic View". Just doesn't work.
My husband and I were thinking of going FIOS but after viewing and trying to use this new email design, we are having second thoughts.  Optonline is looking pretty good and we will be checking them out instead.  Too bad, we've been with Verizon a long time. I guess some think these new changes were an improvement. Not me!

  • Missing contact when "create new contact" from email or number

I am having a really strange problem on my iPhone and think it will be a fun mystery to solve. Please help me!
It is currently set up with google so that my mail/notes are using gmail IMAP and my contacts/calendars are using Google Sync. So far it's been working pretty well except for all the known many bugs and issues (please fix these, google!). I have no other email, calendar, or contact accounts set up (not even syncing with my computer).
I received an email from a friend who I did not yet have a contact for, so in the email header I clicked her name and chose to "Create new contact." As usual, the email address was already in the "email" field, so I just edited her name and filled out the "company" field and pressed Done. The "from" field in the email updated to show that the contact had been added to my phone and that it recognized the email as being from her.
Now, I go to add a number to her contact and when I navigate through my contacts list, her name is no where to be seen. I've tried searching through the contacts by using the search bar at the top of both the Phone and the Contacts apps, but nothing shows up. However, when I compose an email and start typing her address, it recognizes her as a contact. Even weirder, I just tried the entire phone search spotlight feature, and it found her contact right away, as if it were any normal contact. When I click on it, it brings me to her contact page, which I cannot edit, and when I press the little left arrow "Contacts" in the top left of the screen to go back to the whole listing, she's not there!
When I go to add contacts using the little + symbol in the top right of the phone app, it works normally and the contact appears as usual. But every time I try to do a new contact from email, this happens! Choosing to "update existing contact" works fine, though. So I've been forced to create an empty contact with her name in the Phone app, and then add the email to it.
Please help my find where in my phone this contact is residing, and how to bring it out so I can find it. I have tried force-quitting the relevant apps from the multi-task dock, and even turning off and on my phone, but to no luck.
Update: Just tried creating a new contact from a phone number I've previously dialed and the same thing happens! Where are my contacts going?? This is so weird!
Not sure if this is just a google sync issue, but I figured I'd post it in case other people are having similar issues
    Device: Apple iPhone 4
    Carrier: AT&T
    Country / Language: USA English
    OS: iOS 4

I recently experienced a similar event. I was adding from Contacts "+" button on the iPhone 4. I completed entering the data & hit "done". I went back to add a photo. I hit "done" & went to test the result. No new contact. Search did not find it. Tried two more times with different contacts. Same result.
At one point, the "All Contacts" directory went blank. Nothing. Seconds later the contacts returned. Scary. I rebooted the iPhone. No new contacts but old ones fine.
I then entered with an old iPhone on OS 3.2 same data. Showed quickly via MobileMe. On the new iPhone added photo the photo. All OK. From an iPad, OS3 I did the same. Added photo in new phone. All OK. I added from the new iPhone including photo. All OK.
The iPhone IOS4 reboot may be the answer. Wish I had tried older systems before reboot.

  • Problem with HTML email formatting

I'm using Firefox 4.0.1. I have a job function that requires me to use web page based email. When responding to emails, Firefox automatically places the cursor at the bottom of the chain as opposed to the top of the chain as in previous versions. I need for the response to start at the top of the page. This is the way it worked in my previous version of Firefox and no settings in the email program have been changed. In fact there is no setting in that program to specify where the response will go. I'm assuming the cursor placement is being determined by Firefox. Please help me change it.

  • Email format

Without any warning, my wife's email format changed to the new email management tool being offered by Verizon. My email has renained as always and I do not want to change. How do we get her email changed back to the older format?

Unfortunately, there is no way to get back the classic E Mail.  Eventually everyone will be switched over and it will go bye bye!

  • Provisioning Password Email Formated Incorrectly

The Provisioning Password email format is being generated incorrectly for some of the requests.
    User ID: CARRIETA
    Password: AhB8SJSAPSystem: EQA-130
The password and the system information are conjoined. This creates a password that is invalid and has caused some frustration with the user community. Not all of the Provisioning Password emails are generated in this manner. The majority of them are created correctly with the 3 lines of information
    User ID:
    Password:
    SAP System:
Has anyone seen this before? Any insight is appreciated.
    Thanks

We had this problem with 5.2. We finally figured out that when a  "  >  " sign was in the middle of the SAP-generated password, that character and the rest of them in the password were removed, and the next line started where that character should be.  This is not an SAP problem -  it is the format of the mail - HTML. If you forward the message, you can see the entire password.
We also had poor users who had an equal sign " = " as the first character in their initial password and thought the password started at the next character ( Password: =Ab12Cd$  was interpretted as AB12Cd$   Instant lock)
Our solution was to prevent SAP from generating any special characters in its passwords. Not only did this prevent the truncated password email, but it was much easier for new SAP users to enter an initial password that had letters and numbers only in it.
The table to change is PRGN_CUST. Add a value GEN_PSW_MAX_SPECIALS of 0 to prevent any special characters.

  • How do I set up a new sub group email on the macbook ?

I will begin by freely admitting that I am not computer literate...I switch on and use. The present email has been in existence for so long I can't remember how it was set up, think the laptop did it by itself.
    The problem...
I want to set up a sub group email address for the small club that I am treasurer for and then use this so members can pay subscriptions via paypal.
I followed the yahoo instructions to set a new email address and this was OK, the address is shown at the foot of the my account page on yahoo as the only sub group. ISP is BTinternet.com so that uses yahoo.
    Easy so far.
    Remember opening sentence !
How do I set up my existing email page to show when a message has been received on the new sub group email. I use macmail on a macbook , not PC outlookexpress. In other words, how do I open/access/show this new email on the macbook ? I don't want to compromise the existing email set-up, just have a 'secondary' or 'sub group' account.
    Thanks
    Brian

Yes, you just setup another account in Mail, on the Second page where it has Description you need another Name in there than the Other one has.

  • How do I delete an account to update to new Apple ID email if it wants the old password to an account that doesn't exist so it says incorrect. I can't move forward.

I Need to delete an old iCloud account in order to update to my new Apple ID email but in order to delete the old account I need the old account to verify and it won't bc it no longer exists. Please help

If the old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, temporarily recreate the old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone, even though it prompts you for the password for your old ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iPhone when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

My new iPhone 5 email is synched with my home office computer Outlook email using a POP account, but deleting an email on my computer does not delete the email on my phone and vice versa.  Is there any way to get a true synch?.

POP does not support synchronization between the server and clients. You will need to use IMAP or Exchange Active Sync if your email provider supports it.
