  • [Opteron] Dual Opteron nForce 3 250 Ultra board?

    Hi
Does anyone know when we can expect a dual opteron nForce3 250 Ultra board from MSI?
Looks like iWill is the first one out of the gate with such a board.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Paul,
I think that there will be no problems - if you include a good PSU in the set up.
I would recommend to see what BIOS there is coming with the board - 1.9 or higher will recognise the X2 CPUs. If not strictly necessary, I would advice against flashing the BIOS of this board, unless - of course - you encounter specific problems. In that case I would flash an official BIOS (1.B) and not a beta, or modded BIOS.
At present the 4800 X2 is still quite expensive; the 4400 X2 is much better from a price/performance point-of-view ...
As far as RAM is concerned: why would you want to run 4GB of RAM? For normal programs/games, 1GB is more than sufficient and only with some of the newest games a noticeable increase in performance can be seen when 2GB is used in stead of 1GB. It is hard to imagine that adding 2 GB more will lead to an increase in performance. Instead it must be expected that you will loose performance (because of dropping to 333MHz, looser timings, etc.). I therefore recommend to go for 2GB of good quality RAM.
    Hope this helps,
    Hans

  • K8N NEO PLATINUM Nvidia nforce 3 250 GB Chipset rebooting - hanging !@$%@#$@

    Hi folks,
I am working on the K8N NEO platinum motherboard based on the Nvidia nforce 3 250 GB Chipset.
A couple of days ago I lost my internet connection (broadband). After a couple of minutes it ok again. But suddenly the computer frooze.
After rebooting (button on case) I found out that lots of things couldn't be closed anymore once they were opened. I needed to use CTRL-ALT-DEL to go the the active Tasks. But then that started to freeze too so I decided to wipe everything of the system.
I repartioned and reformated the computer with the win XP PRO CD and reinstalled the OS. I saw immediatly that the system was slower then before and that it did not found the internet connection anymore. I checked the LAN connection and there it sayed that the LAN card was working well but that no cables were connected. This was not true because I dubbel checked them twice. I even replace the cable. It was not my Internet provider neighter because the computer is in a local network and others had no problem to access the internet. So I decided to reinstall and reinstall it again. I reinstalled the system (partioning, formatting) it 4 times. The last time suddenly it found my connection back. Then I installed all updates of windows and I used my live update from MSI to update my components.
I am using live update 3 and updated the BIOS and all other parts who needed to be updated. This was done without the presence of a AV and so on. Everything went well and no errors occured. I received everytime a message with success.
Today my computer suddenly hanged itself again. This already 3 times. Nothing is possible anymore except the boot button on the case.
I also encountered 3 times the while surfing the computer suddenly reboots itself without any warning or message.
What the hell is going wrong here ???
Can aynone give me a clue please ?
    Is the motherboard dying ?

  • Vibe Z2 Pro (K920) Board test failed

hiafter the lollipop update, there were occasional freezes and reboots but nothing major. few days back, the phone was connected to my pc and it rebooted but this time it froze on the boot screen. it stayed like that for hours..could not reset or switch on, even recovery menu was not working. i let the battery drain completely and charged it to 100% but on startup it hung again. being away from india at the moment i took it to the local service center but they were unable to help saying they did not have the correct software.i spent 2 nights searching the net for solutions and finally found a way to reload the firmware (ROW S126 updated to S230) and got the phone to start. however, i could not switch on wifi or bluetooth. 3G was available but i did not test call or data functions. i went into recovery menu and performed a board test and got multiple failures, WLAN+BT+Gsensor+Msensor+Gyrosensor.i will be away from india for a few months more and would really like to find a solution for this. is it definately the hardware or is it some software issue/missing device drivers etc?? any help or references are appreciated

Hello, I just purchased my Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro. After charging it for 8 hours, I switched on the phone and there's an automatic firmware upadate to Lollipop. After the update, the phone is unable to restart. I cannot even access the factory reset/recovery mode. I sent it to the service centre and now they said they need to replace the board. What does it mean? Thank you.

  • Would You Buy A Msi Nforce 3-250?

As much as I like my neo, I would buy a MSI nforce3-250 tomorrow if I could. It is alot more fun with an agp and pci lock when overclocking. That's why the 600 boards never sold like the nforce. True they were late coming out but it wouldn't have mattered.
Another brand is suppose to be out the 15th, I sure hope MSI hurries.

  • Flashing Folder and ? please live powerbook please Logic Board test?

    I have a 12" 1.5 powerbook.
I have tried all the reset's there are.
I boot hear the chimes and the screen then flashs a Folder with a ? in the middle.
Tried a new HD but I get the same results.
I have had success booting from a firewire drive once it boots there is no sign of the HD or the Cd, the Cd wont eject or boot from.
So my question is coulf it be the Logic board or is there a controller that reads the drives (bios) I have no idea what to try next other than register smashmybrokenG412.com and be done with it?
Also the CD drive will take a Cd but will not eject.
I am getting a new battery from apple, thats not going to help. hmmm is there a logic board recall?
Thanks for any all help or silly comments I will take them all..:P

No logic board recall that I'm aware of.

  • Pci/agp Lock

Can anyone tell me if there is a way of establishing whether the KN8 NEO 2 PLATINUM WIFI has a fully funtional AGP/PCI LOCK.
Custom PC says it does not others insist it does. I believed that Nvidia had long since cracked this issue on Nforce 3 250 Ultra boards
what should the multiplier be set at for an FX53 on the board.
How can I overclock my Ram, I purchased it because of it's ability to run much faster and retain tight timings. I cannot see how to increase it's speed, does this depend on processor or FSB setting.
Can anyone explain what I need to do to achieve a reasonable overclock,  bios settings etc...
    Thanx...
    Gez.......

please feel free to ignore or delete, have re posted to Nvidia.
    Soooooo Sorry.......

  • Any news about MSI's socket 939 NF3-250 board?

I hope to see something like the socket 754 board, that had a special care from MSI. I'll grow real mad if MSI doesn't go with Nforce 3 250 for socket 939, relying on the fact that VIA's new chipset will have a PCI fix.

DDR2 might be a problem because the memory controller is inside the CPU.
I heard that is why AMD has no plans of switching to DDR2 anytime soon.

  • AHT finds logic board error, but computer working fine

I ran the Apple Hardware Test to see the profile for my RAM, but 7 seconds into the test it stopped and reported a logic board error.
    1. But my computer is working fine. If anyone has experience with this, I'll gladly take your advice. Do I ignore this error at my own risk? Or should I get it looked at now in case it's an early warning of something that can get worse? For the real Apple tech experts, here's the error code: 2I2C/1/1: 0x00000092.
Eleven months ago, I had to get a new power supply installed. It was covered under the extended warranty for power issues with iMac G5s. As I've indicated, it's been working fine since then.
    2. Once AHT finds an error, it won't continue testing the remaining components. Does anyone know of a way to "force" the AHT to skip the logic board test and go on to test the other hardware items?
    Thanks all.

Michael, pray tell, where does one find the published list of codes you refer to? I searched the whole internet (or so it seemed like it) looking for a resource like that. Are you an AASP?
Even my experienced Apple technician and his AASP contacts didn't realize that my error code relates to the European Union. (And, BTW, I'm in Canada and I purchased my iMac from a store in Canada.) You have solved a mystery!
The strange thing is that when I phoned Apple Tech Support and asked to speak to a product specialist, even they told me that the code means "logic board needs replacement." When I asked to speak to a higher dept., I was connected to Customer Relations (very nice, professional fellow answered). When I explained that this G5 iMac has been problematic for me (failure after 7 mos. of ownership, power supply failure after 3 yrs, etc.) he offered me $100.00 off a new iMac ($125.00 in Canada), which I accepted.
I did use TechTool Pro to check the computer. It found no problems. Four months later and it's still going strong. I don't know whether to be upset with Apple for not bothering to look up the code, or whether I should look at this as a blessing in disguise (how else would I have received $125.00 off a new iMac? And now, my father gets a G5 that I can confidently say is in good working order). And it's strange that my local tech's AASP friends weren't any wiser. Aren't AASPs privy to this error code info? A mystery indeed...

  • Test Stand Evaluation

    Hi.
I would like to get some feedback regarding using Test Stand with Labview.
Currently I am using Delphi Interface as my Excecutive Engine and Active
X server to communicate with labview. The data logging, PLC I/O and Login/logout
are part of Delphi Inteface. The labview is used only to execute the actual
test. Now by switching to Test Stand, would that benefit me in any way.(For
instance: Does Test Stand(LV Server) allows me to run single or multiple
    Vi's, without creating 'exe')?

There could be lots of advantages to switching to TestStand, but it depends on your application.
    1. If you deploy your applications to several different environments or uses (board test, system test, service, field service, etc.) then TestStand allows you to customize different "process models" for each environment. The actual test code is contained in a sequence file. Since the process model is shared by all sequence files, it is a great place to put the common functions such as UUT identification and data logging. Even if you don't need different process models, keeping all this code in one place makes it easier to maintain. There is no compiling with TestStand, so you can change the process model and the changes will take effect in all your applications.
    2.
TestStand allows you to easily call many different types of code, not just Labview. You can call CVI, DLL's, EXE's, and ActiveX. I recently saw an article about a way to call Perl code. Again, the value of this depends on your application.
    3. If you want to integrate your application with a database, TestStand has great database tools. The database logging utility allows you to log data to any table format.
    4. If you are loading test limits from an external source, TestStand makes it easy with a tool called Property Loader.
I suggest you get a free demo copy and try it out. TestStand is incredibly powerful.

  • Let everyone know what you think about you're nforce

lets fill this thread up letting all know whats going down on nforce mobo's nvidia deserves the support and id hate to see someone go buy a via cause they dident know the nforce brand enough

    The last V I A chipset PC I bought was for 10p.
This included an 8x cdrom, floppy, LAN card and sound card, so they paid me to take the V I A off them. :D
Since then, before the nForce, I built PCs based on Aladdin's Magik1 Rev. C  Not bad, very stable, OK price.
But the nForce gave me far more than those Aladdin boards ever did for my money, and I'll recommend them to anyone thinking of building a PC. note i said a PC, not just AMD based PC :D
What would REALLY be cool, however, is to see an nForce-based dual-CPU board.
Imagine the IRQ possibilities and the sharing of processes to run all those onboard things across 2 CPUs.  That machine would ROCK!

  • Ram test

Because of problems I have been experienceing fora few months, with iPhoto 09 & iMovie 09, I am wondering whether there is a problem with my RAM cards.  I have had them for about 3 years previously with no problem.
I have checked Permissions Verify and Disk Verify. OK.  Wondering if there is an on-board test for memory, before I go out and buy new RAM cards.

TTBOMK there is no onboard test for RAM.
There is AHT which come on the install DVD for your Mac.
There is also Rember which you can download.
I have actually found Rember to be a better test then AHT.

  • PB Freezes after boot, even freezes in Hardware Test

We have a beautiful PB G4 FW800. It has started acting up and I've been trying to diagnose it's issue.
It freezes shortly after booting up. I get a good gong, the gray apple and then the Mac OS screen. It always hangs during the initialization progress bar.
I started from the Install Restore CD. Install hangs after the 1st continue button. I restarted and ran the HW test (restart with option key). I selected the HW test and both the short and long freeze during the logic board test.
Why would a HW test program freeze during a test?
    Anyway. Looking for suggestions.
This unit is in very good shape. Perfect screen, a few scratches on the bottom, but if it needs a new logic board it's not really worth the investment is it?

I put the PB G4 back in Target Mode and zeroed the disk.
I tried both the original software restore disk and a Tiger install disk. In both cases the PB G4 freezes very early in either Installer.
The Hardware test comes up if you select the option key and run it. It does collect a correct profile. However, when I run the either HW test, Airport Extreme (the 1st test) passes and then the logic board test freezes up after a second or so.
I asked at the Apple store if they still have a "fix everything" service and a Genius said they did. $400 or something like that. I don't think it's worth it. If it were 1.67 - maybe and a larger disk. Alas.
So I guess I'll sell it for parts. So sad
