NI PXIe 4141 source trigger for sequence start

Hi all,
Is it possible to use Source Trigger to generate a sequence in NI PXIe 4141 SMU? Whenever I try this only first and Second sequence voltages are produced and then sequence stops.
It seems to be waiting for Sequence Advance trigger. In this case what is the purpose of Source Trigger? can it only be used for single voltage transition?
I know I can use Start Trigger to start generat my whole sequence, but I don't want to do use it because it limits my capability to control Measurement using Measurement Trigger individually.

Well, the regular start trigger works with output pulse tasks.
Which brings up another question: on a board with analog trigger circuitry, can you use an analog trigger for an task that accepts a regular start trigger? I don't seem to have a board with analog trigger, so I can't try it.
I find the documentation to be not as clear sometimes as it could be. I also find that it is often difficult to find the particular spot in the documentation where something is disscussed. That is partly because sometimes pieces of a given topic are scattered about.
Sure wish it was in a PDF so I could actually read through it!

Analog start trigger for x series card gives an error?

Hi everyone,
I am having some trouble setting up an analog start trigger for DAQ using an x series PCIe card (6351)... Attached is my configuration... After reading the manual (http://digital.ni.com/manuals.nsf/websearch/08B4B2E1B5373B94862579BA006E6BAB), my understanding is that AFPI0 is a compatable analog trigger for the device; however, the vi will not run and I get an error... Although if I change the soruce to "Force" (which is ai0) it works..
Also, the device document says (pg 11-8):
"To improve trigger accuracy, do the following:
• Use an AI channel (with a small input range) instead of APFI <0,1> as your trigger source. The DAQ device does not amplify the APFI <0, 1> signals. When using an AI channel, the NI-PGIA amplifies the AI channel signal before driving the analog trigger circuitry. If you configure the AI channel to have a small input range,"
To me, this implies that I probably should use "Force" as the trigger soruce anyway (note that the instrunment is used to acquire data load cell data generated from human muscle contractions; so slew rates are relatively low compared to signals acquired from industrial tests).
Could someone please comment on these issues for me?

Ok... I think I have answered by own question... APFI0 needs a low impedence signal to drive the terminal... I mistakenly thought this was an internal terminal or trigger...
So I should stick with using the first analog signal acquired in my DAQ device (e.g. ai0) as the trigger source?

Using the same wire for positive edge start trigger and negative edge stop trigger for 6533

I would produce a start trigger for an external data source to start them.
Emediatly after this starttrigger this source produces a trigger Signal.
I would like to use this trigger Signal as an extern trigger which should provide some functions:
1. on the positive edge of the Signal some pattern should read in with an external clock.
2. on the negative edge of the trigger signal this process should stop.

The second shows how to incorporate start/stop triggers in digital pattern I/O operations. You should be able to combine parts of these two programs to complete your application.

Creation of sequence and trigger for each table!!!!!!!1

I am new to trigger and Sequence field. In one of my database we have many tables with fields for specifing ID numbers. Iam planning to insert the ID field with help of a Sequence and trigger...that trigger fires by adding the sequence value from the dual table. Now the point is here we r having around *60* table with ID field. And i am planning use the above process for each table by creating sequences and trigger for each table.
Will this affects the performance of database.
Is there any other option other than the above process, I mean other than creating sequences and trigger for each table.
PLzz help to resolve this issuee......

Tiger, I didn't mind about your comment, but the point is try to use
select NVL(max(a) + 1,1) into i from p1_temp;This line in your trigger code and see what is happening. The problem is with your trigger. You are using group by function and you will not get no_data_found !

Cannot start the source application for this object - Embedded PDF in Excel 2007

I am having a real issue which unfortunately is intermittant and I cannot pinpoint what is causing the problem. Basically I am inserting a PDF object into an Excel worksheet and immediately after I insert it, it will open fine. If you click off into another cell and save the sheet, then try to reopen the embedded PDF, you get the error "cannot start the source application for this object".
Any help would be very much appreciated! Has anyone else run into this?

I got that problem with one of my client after updating from Adobe Reader 8.2 to 9.3.1. Excel version was 2002 and not 2007 but this is Adobe problem.
Check that registry key for you Acrobat Document key points to right AcroRead32.exe path at HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{B801CA65-A1FC-11D0-85AD-444553540000}\LocalServer32
of whatever key points to your Acrobat Document.
I used Sysinternals Procmon to monitor registry activity and found a line and opened that registry location and found out Adobe Reader 8.0 path there.

I have seen that Adobe Reader 9.3 doesn't update that registry and leaves Adobe Reader 8.0 values there. Same problem may be in other upgrade scenarios too.
In addition to that my Windows 7 with Office 2007 that has never had anything but Adobe Reader 9.x versions didn't had anything on that registry location and it gave me same "cannot start the source application for this object" error. Putting that path "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 9.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe" to LocalSever Default value fixed that too. Maybe Adobe should do something with this issue?

PXIe-4141 hardware timed 4- channel sweep

In the attached example of FET/BJT characterisation using hardware timed two channel sweep, for each gate voltage the drain values are sweeped.
If I understand the trigger settings correctly :-
For each drain value, V is applied and I is measured. So if there are 2 Vg values and 3 Vd values, the PXI fetches 6 Vd & Id and 2 Vg, Ig values.
To put it more bluntly,

Vg = 3V Ig = .....
seq start
Vd = 0.5,Id = ....(Ig = ?)
Vd = 1,Id = ....(Ig = ?)
Vd = 1.5 Id = ....(Ig = ?)
seq complete
Vg = 4V, Ig = ......

What if we wish to measure Ig for all iterations of Vd as well ? Can guess to configure 'MeasureWhen' trigger of Gate to 'SourceComplete' of Drain. Is that doable/feasible in sequence-source-mode ? Or one should apply each value in single-point-source-mode. Wish to iterate 5 values in each 4 cascaded channels at the end.

How to have a sequence start with specific number in mapping

Hi,
I can not find a way in the mapping to specify the "start with" attribute for sequence. Currently I have to execute this from sqlplus; select max(id) from tableA, then create sequence start with max(id)+1. I would like to integrate this step into owb. I'm using 9ir2. Thanks.

You can do this from a stored procedure that you invoke from your pre-mapping trigger:
- Scan the source and get the max_id
- execute immediate 'drop sequence; create sequence ... start with '||max_id+1

How do I implement a stop trigger for my 6602 counters?

I currently have the start of data acquistion for two channels syncrhonized with a start trigger. I am doing simple event counting using two seperate counters.
For my start trigger, I use a third counter to generate a single pulse and put the output on the trigger line that the two counters are watching.
Works great! But, I also want to synchronize the stopping of data acquisition for the two channels. I thought this would be simple as configuring a ND_STOP_TRIGGER like I did a ND_START_TRIGGER. But, this is giving me errors.
Does the 6602 not support stop triggering? Am I just out of luck?

this thread is quite old but I'm facing the same problems.
I'm using a PXI-6602 and a PXI-6521 in a PXI-1033 chassis. On the 6521 I create a continuous sample pulse as a counter output. This I route to the PXI_Trig0.
On the 6602 I have two counters set up to continuous edge counting with the external clock configured to PXI_Trig0.
I start counting by setting a internal trigger channel to high which is routed to PXI_Trig1, and this is configured as the start trigger signal for both counters on the 6602 so that they count simultaneously based on their common sample clock.
This works quite good...but I have some problems to stop the counting.
I have to stop counting as soon as I have reached 1024 increments (one revolution of a wheel, signal duty cycle 50 %) on one counter and then I have to check if the other counter have reached at least 48 (duty cycle 50%) or 96 pulses (duty cycle 20% or 80%, depending on the revolution direction).
So far I read the counter value of ctr1 in a loop and if the value is equal to or greater 1024 I stop. Sometimes I miss the value 1024 (how can this happen as I count buffered + continuously?) I make a retry. But I get the impression that even I configured both counters with the same start trigger and sample clock, the counting isn't synchronous. When I try it with two function generators, I works quite good but not perfect. If I connect real life signals, in the lower frequency range (up to 500 1/min of the wheel), I almost always have fewer pulses then necessary, e.g. 88-94 pulses instead of 96. In the upper frequency range (up to 3000 1/min of the wheel), I have way too much pulses, e.g. 122-125 pulses instead of 96.
I use the digital filters of the counter board for both TTL signals.
Does anybody have an idea what I can do on this subject?

Get sequence start from Transmit API

I'm using the Transmit API to get the timecode of the sequence as it plays. I'm using the inTime and working out the number of seconds from the ticks.
This gets the number of seconds from the start, which is fine if the sequence begins at 00:00:00:00, but if it begins at 01:00:00:00 or some other value then all of the timecode values are wrong. I could not figure out a way of getting the sequence start position - am I correct in assuming that such a function doesn't exist?

For automation purposes you may want to also implement reading any XMP sidecar file that exists. That has the timecode of the capture in it.
- a good example is to export H.264 in AME/PPro. the resulting xmp/xmpses file has the xmp fields of interest. Open it with WordPad (coz that understands Unicode) and you'll see a XMP:RDP packet like this:

PXI 5114 - Seperate Triggers for Each Channel

We are using a PXI-5114 High Speed Digitizer. We were wondering if it was possible to set different triggers for each of the two channels. We are analyzing a NTSC composite video signal and would like to observe two different lines of video in a LabVIEW VI.

I would like to clarify a little bit about what you are trying to accomplish. Do you have one or two separate video sources you wish to hook up to your digitizer? When you refer to "lines" are you referring to the individual horizontal lines that make up a single video frame?
The amount of time it takes to reconfigure the digitizer for a new acquisition is not deterministic and will depend upon the speed of your machine as well as any other activity you have going on over the PXI bus. As a result, reconfiguring in between an event may not be fast enough depending on how quickly you expect the image to be moving. I am also not quite sure how setting up a trigger for the top horizontal line and then another one for the bottom horizontal line will get the measurement you are looking for because each line will be refreshed at a periodic rate by the video source. Triggering on a specific line will give you a record with the digitized data for that line but it seems like you will need to do some kind of processing on that data to tell if the data contains this line of the digitized image contains is object you were looking for or not.
Please let me know if it does not sound like I am envisioning the application correctly.

("full-speed") is supported in my WinCE 6.0 image) camera for my ARM4I processor. The code should
be in C# but C++ will be fine also.

I did what you said but I seem to miss the IDE folder. This is what it looks in my Explorer
C: > Program Files > SAP > IDE > CE > eclipse > (no folder called "examples")
I also did a search in this eclipse folder for "examples" but I did'nt find the example I'm looking for
I am running a newer version of NWDS:

Maybe that's why things don't look the same?
