No auto-reboot with WSUS

Hi all
We're currently trying to set up a WSUS in our firm, to make updating servers easier and less of a time-wasting work.
The goal would be, for the servers to automatically install the updates and then reboot, so a collegue or me only have to check in the WSUS to see wheter all updates were applied.
Now to the Problem:
Our WSUS is currently up and running and some (not all) servers in the network will, once approved, download and install the updates with the shedule. But they won't neither automatically reboot, nor directly ask me for a reboot after they're done. I either
can wait a long time or go to setting -> windows update and press on restart now.
The log is from the time it started the install, to the last entry it had when I opened it.
The last entry is also what i think is the problem, but I couldn't find a solutions with googling the error, so here I am.
The logs look like this:

Thanks for the reply, but I already proposed this and it isn't really an option. The goal is to get a comlete oversight with WSUS with as less inputs as possible.
But maybe you can riddle me this column from the log:

  • Blue Screen, Auto Reboot

    Hi,
I'm having this auto reboot with my iPhone 6 iOS 8.1.2 it happened twice during a week time today I've seen the second time with a blue screen for a second only before auto reboot, first time I was using Viber, the second time I was using Safari only! I've updated to this version of iOS since it was launched, I didn't notice this till last Saturday. Any ideas?
I've been using an iPhone for the last 4 years, this is the first time I see something like that.

    Hello Ibrahim15,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Please see the information in the article linked to below for this issue where your iPhone is restarting while you are using it.
If your iOS device restarts, displays the Apple logo, or powers off while you're using it - Apple Support
    Have a great weekend,

  • Problem with my Bluetooth resulting in auto rebooting.

I am having a problem with my bluetooth ever since I bought XPERIA mini st15i. The first time it occured, I took it to the customer care, they solved the problem. The problem did occur again after 2 weeks. So, I again took it to Service. They resolved it again. This problem has occured about 8 times. Ever since I tranfer some files through bluetooth from gallery or file explorer, the phone restatrs again and again. It shows the Xperia logo and then agin, it auto reboots until the battery dies off. I updated the phone yesterday and the problem is occuring today again. My warranty period is over,  so what can I do? In the warranty period, they changed my hardware but still the problem persists.
I think it's some kind of bluetooth bug. Can it be fixed?

download Sony Update Service and try this app http://www.sonymobile.com/ru/tools/update-service/ . Its helped me

  • Install IE10 and required security patches with WSUS with only 1 or 2 reboots

We are planning to deploy IE 10 with WSUS.  Currently, it takes 1 reboot to apply IE 10 and 2 subsequent reboots to apply all the identified security patches for IE 10 via WSUS.  We are under close scrutiny to limit the number of times that computers
must be rebooted to apply patches so that we don't impede our business function.
Is there anyway to deploy IE 10 and all required IE 10 security patches with WSUS with only a single or 2 reboots?  As I understand WSUS already "packages" or "layers" patches in a manner to limit the number of reboots and that
various patches must be installed only after pre-requisite patches are identified as installed.
We are rolling out to a couple thousand machines and want to make the business impact as little as possible.
    Any help would be appreciated.

and 2 subsequent reboots to apply all the identified security patches for IE 10 via WSUS.
I find this unusual. Exactly how did you determine this to be the case. Which updates are you actually deploying to an IE10 environment?
My investigation identifies that the only two updates are applicable to an IE10 (on Windows 7) environment. They are MS14-011 (KB290920), released Feb 2014,  and MS14-056 (KB2987107), released Oct 2014. Since these two updates *CAN* be installed
concurrently, at worst these two updates installed concurrently would only trigger one reboot -- assuming they trigger a reboot at all.

It has already been 6 days from your post, my apology for responding so late, but it is my habit to help only the leftovers, which the other contributors missed.
Toggle the hold switch make sure there is no red showing.
To reboot an iPod. (Or RESET in Apple iPod jargon)
Press Menu and Center button for about 10 secs till the Apple logo comes ON , this would not erase any data from your iPod.
I would advice you to leave the iPod charging for about 4 hours, if it has been discharged for 1 year or more, and also Apple recommends that you charge the iPod at least once a month, to prevent a discharged battery leakage, which may corrrode the circuitry in the iPod.
Hopefully you don't get the dreaded RED X on the iPod screen.
    Good Luck!

  • Auto reboot / Manual reboot : easy way to apply group policy for each group without multiple AD links? Help appreciated

    Good morning,
I have two policies for WSUS, one that auto-reboots the client and one that allows for manual reboots.  I'm sure this is very obvious, but i'm wanting to make sure I do this correctly.
What's the easiest way to apply the policy for manual/auto reboots without having to go through my entire active directory tree and link it to each OU containing mixed computers?
I hope this makes sense, but I know i can set security groups and then set it for the scope, but if I go that route is there a way to apply it to all Domain Computers, EXCEPT those who are a member of security group "MPS - WSUS Manual" for example?
Any input here is greatly appreciated
    Thank you

If all the machines that you want to have the manual option are in a few select OUs then you could apply the auto reboot GPO to the root of the domain, and then link the manual GPO just to those GPOs containing the relevant machines. As explained here
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-gb/library/cc785665(v=ws.10).aspx a policy applied to an OU overrides a policy applied to the domain as a whole.
While I'm not sure, from your description I'm guessing that's the case, and they're actually mixed in throughout the domain? In which case, the other option might be to make use of group policies order or precedence. As described here
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/muaddib/archive/2012/08/22/determine-gpo-precedence-with-gpmc-gpresult.aspx you'll see that the order that the GPOs are listed makes a difference to the order that they are applied, and the last to be applied takes precedence over
those that come before. Therefore using that, if you applied the reboot policy to everyone, and then applied the manual one with a security filter so it only applied to your "MPS - WSUS Manual" group such that it had a higher precedence, all machines would
receive the first GPO, but those machines in that group would have that overridden by the second policy.

  • 2011 Macbook Pro Retina Blackouts and constant Auto-Reboots

Hey guys, thanks for your time to look this through since you are my last hope before I drive 320 miles to Apple Store in Chicago with 14inches of heavy snow under my car...
Here is the case: it happened today that my computer would automatically go blackout, then auto-reboots itself. It happened multiple times that I can't do anything on it. And after its auto-reboots, the screen would go black. If I click the volume keys, or power key, I can still hear the sound of them, but the screen would keep black and the computer is actually working. Thus I have to hard-reboot it by pressing the power button for seconds. But even I enter the OS system, after some seconds it just happens again and again, both on the Mac OS Maverick, and my Bootcamp Win7, no matter the power adpater is plugged or not.
The weirdest thing is: I am now connecting the computer to my Viewsonic monitor, and the computer works perfectly: no blackout, no auto-reboots.
I went to the campus authorized Apple retailer, and the techician told me there is nothing he could do since he is not authorized to diagnose the problem since we both thought it is the hardware problem(on both systems.)
I have tried to reset my PRAM and SMC but none of them works. I haven't found anyone who has the same problem online, and thought my experience might helps someone who has it. And I hope we can figure it out before I drive to Chicago in such a horrible weather...
Thank you so much for your concern and help!

  • Lenovo X240 keeps rebooting with Kernel-Power (Event ID:41); Windows 7 Professional

    Hi All
I have my newly Lenovo x240 installed with Windows 7. Sometime, it can boot up, but sometimes it keep rebooting during the windows logo appear.
When it goes wrong, it will have the following screen.
But, if I am lucky, after several "auto-reboot", I can get into the Windows 7. But sometimes, it shows the similar screen above (without windows logo but with what my current desktop), and it then auto reboots.
This scenario is so random, I don't know how to fix it. At this stage, I don't want to use system restore, as some software is installed by my client which is not located near my office, while the reboot issue happens before those installation

    Could you please help?
    BR
    Jacky

    Hi JackyCheung,
I would strongly you to ensure you have the latest drivers and also Windows Updates installed before proceeding with anything else. Have you ran the diagnostics to see if anything hardware related maybe causing the issue?
In this scenario I highly doubt System Restore would help, was it working OK when you got it? what has changed since it was working without the issue?

  • Solaris 8 in ultra 2 got panic and auto reboot when install Oracle software

    Dear all,
I installed Solaris 8 by selecting 'Entire Solaris Software Group' and select 32 bit support only in an old ultra II machine. Then I tried to install Oracle 8.1.7 in the same machine but machine always got panic and started auto reboot when Oracle installed about 17% or 20% or even 70% (I tried install the minimum of Oracle).
What is the problem? Anyone can help?
    Thanks in advance,
    Vicky

I think you need to check the parameters like SHMMAX etc in /etc/system file as recommanded by oracle if not already added you need to add them .Oracle manuals have a list of these parameters and don't forget to reboot and boot with boot -r after adding these parameters.
Make sure you have sufficient memory or some patch recommanded by Oracle .

I have a fresh install of Mavericks OS X. Sometimes I will literally have zero apps running, I'll come see the computer after it sat idle a couple hours and I'll have this message below after it auto-rebooted itself.  I researched a trick to add the entire mac os hard drive to preferences > spotlight > privacy , then reboot, and then remove it, but that didn't work.

OWC provides lifetime warranty, check out there web site. You may be able to find issues with memory using the Apple Hardware Test - Using Apple Hardware Test.
Thank you, I found my previous order. If the hardware tests come up inconclusive, should I still send the memory back for replacement? I'm not sure what the parameters of their warranty are.
    Please see http://eshop.macsales.com/Service/warranty/owc-memory.cfm.
TechTool from MicroMat (http://www.micromat.com) is a good tool. Long time ago, it was included on Mac CDs.
The free version of Memtest86 (http://www.memtest86.com) can also be used.

  • IOS 8.02 update cause iPad Air to auto reboot while playing games and always 'No Sim installed' appears

I have updated my iPad 3 and iPad air to the latest update iOS 8.02 sinice a week ago. The iPad 3 is okay while the ipad air is having problems. Firstly it randomly auto reboots and apps auto shuts as well. Secondly the 'No Sim installed' always appears while using the iPad. Anyone having the same problem please advise how to solve these problems. Thanks.

Using the battery level meter in this manner is comparable to using your car's fuel gauge to calculate miles per gallon. The only thing that matters is the total amount of operating time from full charge to auto-shutdown.
Use the wall-mount charger that came with the iPad and charge overnight.  Do NOT use an iPod/iPhone charger.  Do NOT use a computer's USB port.  Then, operate it normally until auto shut-down (ignore any low level alerts that may appear).  An irony is that doing that test to determine the total operating time is also the procedure necessary to calibrate the battery level meter.
I'm not claiming that you do not have a problem.  I am stating, however, that we don't yet know.  If the above test does, in fact, indicate a problem, read this.
    Also, according to Apple:
    Use Your iPad Regularly
For proper reporting of the battery’s state of charge, be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month (charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down).
Elsewhere, Apple elaborates and explains that two half-discharges (or four quarter-discharges, etc.) equals one full discharge.

  • CSS 11050 SYN Attacks and auto-reboot

Running software version 5.00 build 2 to load balance two web servers. The DOS log shows SYN attack activity--with one incident logging 62 "attacks". I read that if this value reaches a threshold, then the machine will reboot. Can someone tell me what the guidelines are for this? Are there any other events that can cause the switch to auto reboot? Thanks!

    First, you should definitely upgrade.
    5.0(2) is VERY VERY OLD.
Next, a box never reload by itself on purpose or because it reached a certain threshold.
If there is an auto-reboot, this means the box crash and this is not normal.
    Gilles.

  • How to make SSRS 2008 charts auto refresh with IE9

I have some charts on an SSRS report.  The report is set to auto refresh every 5 seconds.  The charts refresh fine, displaying any data updates in the database --- as long as I use IE8 or Chrome (Chrome only displays the top 3 inches of
the report, though, so I can't use it).  However, the charts refuse to auto refresh with IE9.  Windows 7 doesn't have IE8.  I cannot find a solution.  How can I get IE9 to refresh the charts?  (Plain data will refresh, but charts will
    not.)

    Hi TLWKY,
From your description, you set the report to refresh automatically and view it through Internet Explorer 9, however, the charts data of the report don't refresh properly although the plain text data of report refresh without problems.
The issue may be caused by a javascript error with resizing image in IE9. At this time, I suggest that you redesign the structure of your report by placing the charts in rectangles. If the charts are placed in tablix, please insert rectangles into the tablix
    first.
As a workround, you can also downgrade IE9 to IE8. To do this, we can uninstall the installed update "Windows Internet Explorer 9" from contorl panel and Windows 7 will revert to IE8 automatically after rebooting. For more information, please see:
    Downgrade IE9 to IE8 windows 7
    Hope this helps.
