I wanted to re-activate my First Generation AirPort Express to Stream Music in another room. Unfortunatelly i cant Update The Firmware of the first gen airport express with my AirPort App on The ipad 4.
For my online Access i use The AirPort Express newset Generation Woche Works pretty well.
What can i do to use The Old AirPort Express for AirTunes purposes only?

when im searchin for available wifi connections in my house, there is a "AirPort Express e55137" Hardware. When i click on it it sais, i cant configure the Base Station with the Software on the ipad
This tells me that you do not have a 1st Gen AirPort Express. If you did, you would be able to configure the Express with the iPad.
If you have AirPort Utility 5.6 or AirPort Utility 5.6.1 on your MacBook, you can configure the Express using the MacBook.
If you have AirPort Utility 6.x on your MacBook, then you will not be able to configure the Express unless you try a workaround to install an older version of AirPort Utility on your MacBook.

Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click the AirPort Express
Click Manual Setup
Click directly on the word Version (3rd line)
If there are any updates, you will be notified.
If there are not any updates, you have already have the latest firmware.

You don't have to do anything to the netgear.. the Express cannot wirelessly extend non-apple networks. You must plug the Express in by ethernet and create a new wireless network.. this can be the same name (SSID) and security as the netgear so it can become a roaming network.

Airport Express 802.11n Wifi firmware

i have an Airport Express 802.11n Wifi Model-Number: A1264
Somehow Airport Utility cannot update the firmware to 7.x. It is stuck at 6.3.
I tried loading the firmware while holding the option key. But Airport Utility tells me it cannot install the 7.4.2 Firmware on this device.
Also there is no option for "n network in the wireless settings in the utility.
What can i do? Whats wrong with may Airport Express?

I don't have my long list of Apple model numbers handy, but I can confirm that if you bought an AirPort Express(n), you would certainly see a Radio Mode option to include 802.11n when you look at the settings in AirPort Utility.
I believe that the firmware for the 802.11n models started with version 7.3.1. I would guess that the "7" designates the addition of "n" capabilities.
I suspect a mistake was made and the device will need to be exchanged.

Greetings. I received notice that there was a firmware update for my Airport Express. Tried to install and the update process just hangs and eventually times out. Am trying to view settings on the Airport Express but the wait symbol just spins. Attempted to do both a hard reset and factory default reset and neither of those are working either. Did the failed firmware update process pooch the Express?

Hi there, I experienced the same problem. Here was my solution, it takes a lot of pressing on that reset button. I have a Time Capsule, too, so if you don't maybe this isn't as helpful as you'd prefer....but here goes. I pressed the reset button, briefly mind you, while it was plugged in. This caused the LED to start blinking rapidly yellow. Then I connected an ethernet cable to the EXPRESS and unplugged, then plugged back in. I could suddenly "see" the Airport Express again in the admin utility. Then I logged on to it, and chose to Restore Default Settings. Restarted again. Then and only then, I reapplied the firmware update 7.3.2, which appeared to work fine. Then after that, I was able to re-add it as "Extend My Wireless Network" into the Airport Extreme's wifi net. I hope that this helps. Remember, pressing the reset button is the key. The Hard Reset method did not work after the incomplete firmware update that was the precursor to all the problems that you and I were having. Good luck!

I had been getting those notices for months, I finally broke down and hit the button to automatically upgrade. I was flooded with offers of new services from $10. to $49. per month - and my audio/video for Facebook, NYT and NPR are "blocked" with the advice to "upgrade " my Adobe Flash Player - for which there does not seem to be any customer support. My advice is to skip the "upgrading" if your computer works;I do not know what to do now . . .

Airport Express 802.11n for iTunes music?

I am a happy user of an older Express 802.11g for playing iTunes music. Would there by any advantage to getting an N solely for this purpose? I don't use the Express for anything else on my network, and I don't think that the speed increase with N would show any increase in audio quality etc., or am I missing something?

Here is some food for thought.
If your printer is OFF, then the rest of the network would be running "n" speed if you replaced the Express with an "n" version.
When you turned your printer back on, the network would basically be running "g" at that time.
I have a "b" wireless printer... Yikes.... Here is what I did.
I plugged my printer into the back of the TC (basically same as the Extreme) with an ethernet cable and turned OFF the wireless printing card.
Now my entire wireless system is "n" including sending information to the printer.
Printing and reading camera cards is much, much quicker...
Just some more ideas for you and a way to spend your money.........

My iPhone was running on the latest iOS 7.1.2 the latest just before the release of 8.0.2
The phone just went blank on me while the download anf update was running, I can now only see the iTunes emblem and a cable plug in on the screen as if the download is still running
I tried switchingoff and on and nothing happens, after it switches off, the same items come back to the screen

Thanks Chris for your advice. I have done the restoration from both the device and computer as a new device but it doesn't help. Even I have restored my device to the factory settings with standard apps in it without installing any other additional apps, the phone heats up & I have to recharge at least 3 times per day. This is abnormal to me.

FIrewire firmware Update for B/W Yosemite?

I'm trying to migrate from a 400 MHz G3 B/W under TIger 10.4.11 to a Mac Mini dual core Intel. I bought the Yosemite second hand so have no original CDs, so need to transfer the image as far as possible without re entering everything or I'm stuck. I want to be able to run my classic apps on the Mini same as I can on the G3. I also run a G3 Mini Tower under Classic 9.2.2 (the best and most solid of all my computers for general OA). It has 20 years of Mac Classic owrk on it, which is backed up on one of two 8GB SCSI drives on my Yosemite, the other is empty and available for skullduggery.
First thing I find is the Firewire transfer is not supported for the T mode migration tool, even though Firewire works to external DVD and hard drive from both computers.
Is there any way I can upgrade the Yosemite Firewire firmware to make this work? I'm sure its under 2.3.3 but no way I can find out how to upgrade G3 Yosemite firmware under OSX, only under Classic. I don't have a Classic OS disc for this machine - and can't get the Classic CD I do have from my old G3 Mini Tower to load onto one of the Yosmite drives.
If it helps the Yosemite Boot ROM is 1.1.1f4
If all else fails can I do this by creating a External disk image of the of the G3 on a hard drive and then running that on the Mac Mini to use the migration tool to migrate off the hard drive? The firewire works for external devices on both?
Thanks for any practical work arounds that get the migration done with minimum, loss.. And I thought PCs were screwed up on forwards and backwards compatibility.... Hah!

I don't care about the B/W Yosemite G3 once its mind has been transferred, the old G3 is much faster at doing my jobs anyway. The G3 Mini Tower Classic I shall probably use for ever.

Another solution is to get an external firewire enclosure, yank the drive from the B&W G3 and drop it into that enclosure. You can then connect it to the new machine and harvest any of the files you need.
As Tom has indicated, no Intel machine supports Classic. This means that the best you can do with the new machine is to copy the documents (not programs) to the new machine, and see if your OSX programs will open them.
If you wish to keep and use the documents as Classic (OS 9) files along with their programs, you should keep the B&W G3 alive for that purpose.
There is a firmware update availabe for B&W G3's, but its main purpose is to make the machines OSX-friendly. If you are already running OSX on the B&W G3, chances are that firmware update has already been installed.

However, that firmware update will not allow the B&W G3 to be a Target machine in a Firewire Target Disk Mode setup - nothing will. Likewise, there is nothing that can be done to allow a B&W G3 to be booted from a firewire drive.
Another possible way to do what you want - although a B&W G3 is not capable of being the Target machine in a Firewire Target Disk Mode setup, it can be the Host machine. I don't know if an Intel machine will be happy as the Target machine with a B&W machine as the Host.

I can see there is new update for n97 (21.2.045) but update check from phone and pc says i have the latest version. i don;t have latest version. i have september firmware on.

Firmware update for HP OfficeJet Pro 8000 wireless to fix load paper issue - as for the 8500?

Is there any hope that that soon will be a firmware update to fix the issues loading paper and the printheads for the HP OfficeJet Pro 8000 wireless printer?
A month or two ago there came a firmware update to the HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 wireless, which has some of the same issues,
and allegedly should have the much of the same load-mechanism as the 8000 printer.
It would be great, as we are on the fourth (4) replacement of this HP 8000 printer. For example, it would be great if we could use normal (80g) paper and not has to use (HP) 90g paper, as this prevents us from using the duplexer and only print on one side.

I have tried in multiple ways since November 2009 to contact HP, when I got the first (of 4) printers. The first 3 printers was subsequently replaced.
Finally in late June 2010 I got the message that there was coming an firmware update for Windows, but not for Mac's. The firmware should improve among other things the paper pick up (load paper issue) and the print-heads life.
I have applied the Windows firmware on the printer from a pc, but still seems to have load-paper issues, even using HP Bright White paper, when printing from Mac's. I have not tested the printing from a pc, but assumes that a firmware upgrade the printer, and are not specific to a certain OS.
