No context menu within Web Application in Portal

Hello all,
our user runs Web Application via Portal. Normally they can call up the context menu within the web application in order to access the context menu. There they can drill down, swap characteristic, distribute, etc.
For some user we notice that this context menu is not appearing by right mouse click, but the context menu from the internet explorer. That means that these user can not navigate properly within the web application.
When the user executes the Web application via the Bex browser, the context menu appears properly. When I log on in into the portal/bex browser on the users PC, the context menu is also appearing properly.
Is there an user-specific portal setting, which is to maintained?
Any help would be great.

Hi Stuart,
The easiest way to achieve the desired behavior is to make some changes to your web-j2ee-engine.xml file.
In the login module configuration element edit the security-policy-domain field to u201C/irju201D. This will provide you access to your application from the portal without re-authentication to be required.

NW 2004s BI: performance issue on context menu in web application

Hi BI-Gurus,
Currently I am looking for a possibility to speed up the context menu within a web application.
Therefore, queries have been created that should be accessible via BEx Analyzer and Enterprise Portal. In BEx Analyzer context menu of measures and characteristics appears quickly after right-clicking. However, it takes up to 12 sec to display the context menu in the corresponding web application for the initial call. The 2nd, 3rd,... call of the context menu is about two or three times quicker .
Is there anybody out there who knows which parameters affect the call of the context menu in a web app and how to speed up in this case? Please note that I am working on a NW 2004s BI system with SPS12 installed.

NW04s Web Context Menu is slower than the 3.X, but it does not take 12 secs for me, more like 2-3 secs. Try deleting your browser cache and running the template again and see whether that makes any difference.
The rendering is done on the front end side when the template is loaded all the required JS files are also downloaded (around 12 different JS files), depending on what other applications you have open that also will affect the time taken for this.

Cannot see Ecatt option in context menu in web dynpro abap in SE80 ECC 6.0

I saw a presentation by Thomas in which there is option of recording ecatt script on context menu in web dynpro abap application.we are on ECC 6.0 we are trying to record WDA applications and test them by using Ecatt but I am unable to see the option of recording the ecatt script in SE80 editor.
Why could this be happening

Using context menu within a custom web part

Hello,
I'm fairly new to SharePoint and currently experimenting with some stuff.
Now I have a list with folders and documents and instead of the regular list view, I've created a custom (visual) web part that shows the list in a sort of tree.
In this tree I want to add a control for each document only that has the same appearance as the default context menu found in the standard list views.
The long term goal is to have a custom (visual) web part, that shows the hierarchical structure of the list and has a (on hover only) context menu for the documents.
I do have extended experience with ASP.Net, but I cannot find any resource to add the context menu (or one that looks, feels and behaves the same) at will at self defined location.
Note that by default these items don't have a context menu, so how to add it in the first place?
Your help would be greatly appreciated!

I would start by looking at the HTML/Javascript structure of the ECB menus (drop down menus on itmes) and see if you can replicate the HTML snippet in your custom control.

In the end I ended up using this method, unfortunately...
However the structure (read look-and-feel) is not identical to the ECB and more modern.
For example, all actions are icons aligned at the right of each row and appear while hovering over that one row.
It has been a lot of work to extract the Javascript from the ECB to get everything working, especially regarding deleting and adding items from/to a list.

Multiple Context Paths Per Web Application

Hi,
We have a Web Application which has a Context Path of "titanadmin". We have some
HTML pages which refer to this within the URLs they contain. We need to move the
functionality in this Web Application to another Web Application with a Context
Path of "gp3admin". We cannot change the URLs in the generated HTML.
So, is it possible for a Web Application to have multiple Context Paths, so that
URLs starting with "/titanadmin/" and "/gp3admin/" both go to the same Web Application.

There is no hard limit to the number of Web Applications (I managed a WSSv3 farm that had 60+, for example). The issue is memory-related and primarily stems from 32bit systems where it was much easier to get Out Of Memory errors on the IIS Application Pools
when performing a large operation across a 32bit Application Pool (e.g. crawling). However, if you limit each IIS Application Pool to about 10 Web Applications (again, in 32bit land that no longer applies), everything generally works OK given the Web Applications
do not have a very large amount of content.
But, if HNSC is in use, a single Web Application should be sufficient, barring any Web Application-specific settings you might need to make.

Reusable Context Menu Item - Web Template Termination

When I insert a Context Menu Item that has been saved as a resuable web item the web template teminates with the following error when it is executed.
The following error does not occur if I use a Context menu item - only if I use a resuable context menu item. We are on SP10 for both front and back end.
Does anyone have a similar problem?

SSO to Web Application from Portal

Hi,
    I am working on a scenario where I need to access a Web Application from the Portal.
    I read about the Application Integrator that is provided by the Portal .
    I wanted to know that can I only have SSO to those Web Application that accept the userid and password and as URL parameters using Application Integrator , ie: those applications that have post method cannot be integrated.

    Please give me more details , we have a Lotes Notes Web application hosted on Domino server , another is J2EE based application. I need to achieve SSO to each of these applications from the SAP Portal.
   I followed the below listed steps:
   Created two systems one for each Web application based on the template generated from the application integrator. I entered the user mapping values for both the systems.
   I also created two IViews. When I preview , the logon page of the web application opens but the user credentials are not passed to the application.
   Please help me with the steps to achieve the SSO , from the reply I interpret that Logon ticket method was used to achieve the SSO and user mapping.

Can't print a report from within web application

I can run the report within Eclipse and it displays fine. When I click the export button a modal window comes up and all works as expeced. If I click the print button then a modal box comes up but it is blank except for a little white square up in the top left corner.When I view the html source in the browser, the displayPrintDialog function makes reference to active X print control.prm.codebase = "../ActiveXControls/PrintControl.cab";but I don't have that within my web application. Is there something that I need to install on this machine to get printing to work?Any help would be greatly appreciated.Marty Jones 

Unfortunately the ActiveX print control was not validated with the CR4E version of the Java Reporting Component. Therefore users must implement the prininting via the PDF print option. The print option is determined by the printMode property of the viewer. The default should be PDF but if you want to ensure that it always uses PDF you can set the following code using our API: crystalReportPageViewer.setPrintMode(CrPrintMode.PDF);If you are using the Tag Libraries you should set the property printMode equal to PDF.Hopefully, in a future release we can look at adding in a "pure" print option again. Error executing batch file within web application

Hi all,
I am trying to execute a batch file from within my web application (struts 1.2).
The batch file is being kept inside the 'src' folder. The batch file contains only one command to open NOTEPAD.
The code inside my Action class is:

I have deployed this on tomcat and get an error like this:
java.io.IOException: Cannot run program "C:\Program%20Files\Apache%20Software%20Foundation\Tomcat%206.0\webapps\CIGTAFAPP\WEB-INF\classes\test.bat": CreateProcess error=2, The system cannot find the file specified
The problem is not with the batch file because when I try to execute the file directly from the classes folder, it opens up the notepad editor.
I have a specific requirement where I need to create/read this batch file from within the project structure.
Can someone please help me with this?

You sure can. WLP4 requires WLS6.x (check the download site for correct
version). You can deploy your web app using the WLS console.

Adding context menu to any application.

Is there any way to add context menu to the existing ones? for e.g I want, when I highlight a text in safari and right click on it, make it to read that text for me( by now i use a shortcut-key) or for example in yahoo messenger selecting a word in chat window and right clicking gives me just the option to search in Yahoo, I want to add google as well, and so on for different applications sth especial !

Printing through Context Menu on Web

I would like to print a set of table results using the BW Web designer from a context menu of the table. I have found documentation if I want to print using a "Print" link on my web template but now would like to use the context menu. I'm using BW 3.5.
I found some documentation for setting this up but the context menu never gets a "Print" option.
I have these lines in the Data Provider section:

Are there any experienced opinions, which is better - publish a BEx query in portal or publish a BEx Web Application in portal? Is it easier to alter the layout attributes etc. if I create a BEx Web Application first before publishing?
What is the way of fixing for example filter item height if I publish BEx query in portal - is there a Web Application that it uses anyhow which I can fix? Or can I use in that case iView -properties in portal?

instantiated at run time and provide efficiency .No. Jsp:useBean is used for java bean components.

Cross Context Web Applications

I'd like to know if it is possible to enable/disable cross context references for web application(s) with Weblogic Server 8.1? With Tomcat this is achvied by setting the attribute "crossContext" of the element "Context" to "true" in Tomcat's "server.xml" configuration file (see http://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-5.0-doc/config/context.html). Is this also possible with Weblogic 8.1? If yes, how?

If you're talking in perspective of Java components (servlets, JSPs, etc), you would not need to code them differently for each browser.
However, you would want to consider these issues when you use HTML/DHTML/Javascript specifics.
