No data plan - camera phone w/ flash and qwerty keyboard

Is there a current list of all supported/allowed verizon phones that DO NOT REQUIRE DATA PLAN  &&  have camera and flash and qwerty keyboard?

I don't know how long this has been available; ebay now lets you submit a review for the cellphone you bought.
While sometimes the review is about the experience(s) with the seller, most of the reviews are for the cellphone itself.
Say you're looking for reviews for an LG enV2. Type "LG enV2" and the first lisiting is a summary of the current auction listings. Don't click on an individual ebay auction. Look at the last line of the summary -- it'll list how many reviews have been submitted. Click on that and then scroll about half way down the page to read the reviews.
e.g.

  • Transfer Phone/Data Plan Between Phone Numbers

    Hello,
I have a Droid X with the promotional $15/month 150MB data plan. My wife is eligible for an upgrade, and we were thinking of getting her her first smart phone. She will definitely not be a heavy data user. We are under the same Family Plan.
What I would like to do is use her upgrade to purchase a new Droid Incredible 2 with the unlimited data plan. After doing so, I would like to transfer her phone and data plan to my phone number and vice versa (transfer my phone and data plan to her number).
I'm getting conflicting info as to whether or not this can be done. I've read a post on here that suggests this is possible, but I called Verizon and was told that it isn't. The CSR told me that since my data plan is promotional and no longer available, there is no way to perform the transfer.
Is this correct? Is there no way of getting the $15/month plan onto my wife's phone number (regardless of whether we switch phones or not)?
    Thanks.

Adding to what was stated in assisting mandms7, the $15.00 data plan is no longer available and not able to be transferred if you switch phones. If you change devices, you would be asked to select from one of the available data plans to replace the data plan no longer available. Also, if you upgraded your wife's featured phone to a Smart Phone by July 6th, 2011, you would have been required to select the unlimited data plan for $29.99. If upgrading after the 7th, then you need to select from one of the available data plans. Please use this link to be taken directly to the website to see the available data plans. There is also information available to help determine which would be the best data plan available. You could always switch phones online being logged into My Verizon. However, the selecting of the data plan would be needed at the time of switching your phones.

  • Is it possible (simply) to change an iMac from French OS and keyboard to English OS and QWERTY keyboard?

I am in the process of changing my computer and would like to buy an iMac. I live in France but want to buy an iMac with English OS and a qwerty keyboard.  Is it possible (simply, and I mean simply) to change an iMac from French OS and keyboard to English OS and QWERTY keyboard?

I just need to ask Apple in France if they manage to supply a QWERTY keyboard in place of a French one!!!!
The online site offers over a dozen different keyboards, including the one you want.

my hone keeps flashing and beeping when i connect it via the USB to my new Imac

    peterjimmyclark,
One of your USB connections may be loose/not fully inserted, or it may be a bad USB cable. It happened to me once, when a powered USB hub was not properly seated.

  • [SOLVED] Zynaddsubfx and qwerty keyboard

    Hello guys and girls!
I have a little trouble with zynaddsubfx   For a long time I was having fun with Zynaddsubfx and his awesome synths. I don't have any real musical (midi or usb, no matter) keyboard  and i played sounds with general qwerty keyboard. Zynaddsubfx previously worked on windows port and some other linux-based distros on my computer (for years never modified). But now here on Arch I can't play sounds with pc keyboard . Zynaddsubfx doesn't respond on almost all keys, except "6" and "7". But it is catastrophically small amount of keys to play with
I have installed Archlinux x64 and here the list of installed packages:
    zynaddsubfx 2.4.1-1
    alsa-firmware 1.0.23-1
    alsa-lib 1.0.23-1
    alsa-oss 1.0.17-1
    alsa-utils 1.0.23-2
    gnome-alsamixer 0.9.6-3
    alsa-plugins 1.0.23-1
    lib32-alsa-lib 1.0.23-2 (lib32)
    lib32-alsa-plugins 1.0.23-2 (lib32)
    jack 0.118.0-3
    timidity++ 2.13.2-9
    fluidsynth 1.1.1-2
I think the problem is wrong keymap(?) But i don't know where to fix it
And, please, don't tell me things like "go and buy some serious stuff (midi keyboard, real synthesizer etc etc)" bcause I am not a musician and I am just having fun with Zynaddsubfx.
    Thanks in advance

    Haha, I found a solution
It is simple as Arch must to be
Launch [System -> Settings -> Keyboard], then move english keymap to up until english keymap will be first in the keymap's list. And wow, now zynaddsubfx works like in good old days
Thanks to all, problem officially solved
P.S yes, of course when i click piano keys with mouse sound appears

  • HT1430 How do I turn off the data when I am not in a WiFi location? I noticed that I am using data when the phone is "on" and I am not in a WiFi situation, but not on the internet. So, how do I turn off the data?

How can I turn off the LTE data when I am someplace where there is not WiFi and I do not want my LTE running up a bill? I have tracked my usage and realize that the LTE is being used even when I am not using it, just because the phone is turned on.

Merely being on should not use any data.  You must have something running - something using push notifications, or push email, prhaps?
So, you can either track down what is using the data and change it, or you could go in and disaple cellular data in your settings.
One other thing to check is
Settings -> General -> About -> Diagnostic and Usage data -> set it to "Don't Send"
Settings -> Restrictions -> Location Services -> System Services -> turn all these "OFF" (this will not affect how you use your phone at all, but will stop any outgoing location information being sent periodically back to Apple).

  • Data Plan, my phone, when home,

linked to my home internet, my phone seems to still be using time on the data package.....any suggestions?  Is there a program I can download to see what is running on my phone in the background?
June I used less than 1 gb
    July 2 gb
    August....getting past 4gb.....

If Cellular data is turned off it is not possible for the device to use data.
While turning off Cellular data will stop it from using data, it doesn't correct whatever the initial issue was.
Also, if the phone is using Cellular data, then it is NOT connected to Wi-Fi.

  • 3G and unlimited data plan

I bought a IPhone 4 a couple of years ago and purchased the 3G unlimited data plan. Now in the past year I was not able to used my phone as I did when I first purchased it.  I figured that the phone was older, And I had use the phone so much it was just getting slower. The problem was me, and not Verizon.
Now recently I had went on vacation with some family members, And they had been using AT@T phones for years. The first thing I noticed was the speed of their phones when accessing data. There phones would open and get the information before I could open Google. Much Much faster.. After returning home my wife calls Verizon about updating our phone’s to a family plan with 4 lines for about $160.
Now here is where it gets interesting. The customer service person admits to my wife that even though I have 3G unlimited data that Verizon limits how much I can get because of how many people in my area are still using the 3G network. And goes on the say that it is a tactic to get people to move to new phones and there 4G network. So what I realize is, It was not me over the past year, But It was Verizon cheating me!!!!! The way it sounds to me, is Verizon network is not capable of supporting 3G unlimited data with all the phone they sold in my area. And I am sure I am not the only one!!!! But as a consumer there is nothing I can do about it.

Unlimited 3G customers have been a part of the VZW data optimization plan since at least Feb 3, 2011.  The fact that your speeds were getting optimized is the result of you being on 3G unlimited, top 5% user and in an already congested area during peak hours.  The perfect storm.
More details on VZW Data Optimization:
    http://support.verizonwireless.com/support/information/data_disclosure.html
No one is cheating anyone here, that is how the network is operated at VZW.  As a consumer you can upgrade to a 4G LTE device or try using data during off peak hours when more bandwidth is available.  Is it really that surprising that VZW wants you to migrate off your unlimited 3G plan and upgrade to 4G LTE?

  • Unlimited Data Plan removed without my knowledge or consent. Verizon refuses to reinstate. Any suggestions? Please and Thank you.

I am desperately reaching out to anybody that may be able to help me with this situation.
I don't want to give up hope, but I feel that it may be a battle that I cannot win.
    This is my story...
A few years ago, my iPhone 3G was stolen. At that time, my spouse and I both had Unlimited Data plans with Verizon. Fortunately for me, my in-laws had an old flip phone that I could borrow until I could afford a new iPhone. So, I took the newly inherited flip phone to my local Verizon Wireless store to have it activated. I didn't really want to use the flip phone, but beggars can't be choosers and I was just glad to be able to make and receive phone calls again. I told the nice folks at the Verizon store what happened, and they assured me that they could activate the flip phone so that I could use it. "Yes, sir. We can activate this phone for you. No problem."  So, I gave them the flip phone. They activated it and told me that I was "Good to go."
A little over a month later, I was able to save up with enough money to buy an iPhone. So, back to the local Verizon store I went. They showed me a variety of phones, but I was already pretty set on an iPhone. I bought the new iPhone, and they activated it for me. It was all pretty straight forward and easy.
With my new iPhone in hand, I left the store and everything was back to normal.
Many months later, I get a text from Verizon telling me that I only had 2% of my data plan left to use. This really struck me as odd. How could that be? How does someone figure out what 2% of unlimited is? I really couldn't wrap my head around the math needed to calculate percentages of limitless values, so I decided to call Customer Service.
After several calls, I was finally able to piece together what happened. And, it started as soon as I stepped into the Verizon Wireless Store...
    1. When the people at the store activated the flip phone, the activation automatically downgraded my data plan from, Unlimited to 2GB, because the flip phone simply did not require a data plan. NOBODY told me that this was going to happen... NOBODY. Had I known that I was about to get stripped of my Unlimited Data Plan, I never would've agreed to it. Who in their right mind would???
    2. It went unnoticed for over 30 days. I was told that I took too long to catch their mistake. (I say "their" mistake because if you're going to change something on my account on that large a scale, "they" need to tell "me" about it first.) And, because I didn't catch it within 30 days, I could not have my data plan returned to me. They actually told me that if I had only caught it sooner, then I would be able to have it back.
    3. Because I didn't even know that my Unlimited Data plan was even in jeopardy, I bought a new phone. And this is where it gets kinda tricky...
When I bought the new iPhone, I asked them... I asked them if my data plan was going to have to change. They told me "No.", and that "Everything would stay the same." Which, is somewhat of a semi-truth. And, it's also one of the main reasons why I am not being given back my old Unlimited Data plan. See, when I asked them if my data plan would stay the same, I was referring to my Unlimited Data plan. (At this point and time, I had no idea my Unlimited Data Plan was already gone.) So, when they told me that I would keep my data plan, it because they were looking at a screen that told them that I had a 2GB data plan. To them, I was going from 2GB to 2GB. To me, I had Unlimited, and was keeping my Unlimited.
    4. To make matters worse, Verizon keeps telling me that I can't have my Unlimited Data Plan back because I bought a new phone at a non-retail price.
I WOULD GLADLY PAY THE DIFFERENCE OF THE PHONE COST to have all of this fixed. $300? $400? Maybe even $500? I honestly would fork over that money in a heart beat. I only bought that phone because I was told in the store that my plan would not change.
Any Customer Service Rep can look up my history and see that what I'm saying is true. I've even had a  very nice Customer Service Rep offer to upgrade my 2GB Data Plan to 6GB AND send me a free iPhone 5c to go with it! But, I did not want to give up the fight.  My spouse still has the Unlimited Data Plan, but uses a non-4G- LTE phone for fear of losing the unlimited data to the upgrade. Even, I, have avoided upgrading for a long time because I didn't want to lose my plan.
Turns out the joke has been on me this entire time. I haven't had my Unlimited Data Plan for 3 years now.
I honestly don't feel like I've done anything wrong here.
I'm at a complete loss now, and have no idea what to do next.
I'm open to any, and every suggestion that someone may have.
    Thank you.

A few years ago, my iPhone 3G was stolen Verizon never had the iPhone 3G. Are you sure it wasn't the iPhone 4 or 4S? Thank you for pointing this out. I did have an iPhone. It was with Verizon. It must have been an iPhone 4.. At that time, my spouse and I both had Unlimited Data plans with Verizon. Fortunately for me, my in-laws had an old flip phone that I could borrow until I could afford a new iPhone. No problem." So, I gave them the flip phone. They activated it and told me that I was "Good to go." Seems that what you asked for was accomplished. Yes and No. Did they activate it? Yes. Did they inform me as to how this would impact my account? No. Let's say you  ask for a glass of water to drink at a restaurant. Can they bring you the water? Sure they can. Is that waiter obligated to tell you that it had E Coli in it? Well, as long as he brought you the water, what you asked for was accomplished, right?
A little over a month later Exactly what month and year was this? This all took place mid-2011. “This” took place in August, I believe.  I was able to save up with enough money to buy an iPhone. So, back to the local Verizon store I went. They showed me a variety of phones, but I was already pretty set on an iPhone. I bought the new iPhone, and they activated it for me. 1. When the people at the store activated the flip phone, the activation automatically downgraded my data plan from, Unlimited to 2GB, because the flip phone simply did not require a data plan. Going from a smartphone to a flip phone would have dropped the data off completely not to the 2GB plan. Yes. You are correct. I was told differently by Customer Service. But, what you are saying makes more sense. NOBODY told me that this was going to happen... NOBODY. Had I known that I was about to get stripped of my Unlimited Data Plan, I never would've agreed to it. Who in their right mind would???

When I bought the new iPhone, I asked them... I asked them if my data plan was going to have to change. They told me "No.", and that "Everything would stay the same." They answered your question. If you asked would your plan change and they told you no then did have unlimited at the time. I’m having a difficult time understanding your English here. If I understand it correctly, then I've already stated that they answered my question. It's actually right... Which, is somewhat of a semi-truth. And, it's also one of the main reasons why I am not being given back my old Unlimited Data plan. See, when I asked them if my data plan would stay the same, I was referring to my Unlimited Data plan. (At this point and time, I had no idea my Unlimited Data Plan was already gone.) To me, I had Unlimited, and was keeping my Unlimited.Being more specific and asking if you would keep your unlimited plan this could have been addressed at the time of purchase. There should be some standard as to how business is conducted in situations like this. I would like to think that if someone knew that my plan would be changed, then they would've at least had the courtesy to tell me about it. Granted, I could have been more specific. At the same time, though, I’m not going to ask every waiter that brings me water if there was E Coli in it.
    4. To make matters worse, Verizon keeps telling me that I can't have my Unlimited Data Plan back because I bought a new phone at a non-retail price.

Turns out the joke has been on me this entire time. I haven't had my Unlimited Data Plan for 3 years now. Wait...you bought the iPhone to replace the flip phone 3 years ago and you never used more than 2GB of data in this time? I did eventually get to that point. That’s what prompted the phone calls to Customer Service. I don't get it. When did you put the flip phone on July 2011 and when did you get the iPhone to replace the flip phone. August 2011 and have you had any new phone since then? Yes, just last month. I purchased a used iPhone 5 from someone.
I honestly don't feel like I've done anything wrong here.
I'm at a complete loss now, and have no idea what to do next.
I'm open to any, and every suggestion that someone may have.
    Thank you.

  • Can I use my 4S to make calls and texts with just wifi and no service contract or data plan?

I met a guy who claims he does not have phone service - no contract - no data plan - he bought a "hotspot" and makes calls, texts, facetime, email, fecebook, everything - total communication everywhere all the time for free.  It was a casual meeting and I didn't get his contact info. to verify and research.  IS THIS POSSIBLE?

this was the clearest answer - BUT Viber is only free if the people I call have Viber, right?  What about free text with voice (Pinger).  Also thinking of a Magic Jack.  I'm moving to Mexico - that's why all these questions.  I have a Mexican SIM card (my Iphone is factory unlocked), but loading it costs an arm and a leg.  Same as when I go to France - I just switch out my SIM card, and don't phone the US - just FACETIME, etc. in WIfI zones.  My MAIN concern is being able to call my elderly parents in PA, and unfortunately, they don't have smart phones.  Landline.  Thank you for all the answers!

  • List of phones that do not require a Data Plan?

I do not personally need a data plan since all I use with my phone is making calls and texting. I have been using the same phone for almost 4 years now but its all beat up and the battery life is going down and randomly dies down regardless if I do a full charge.
Is there a list of current verizon phones that do not require a data plan? I know almost all phones require a data plan but there are a few that don't. Looking for the "requires minimum data plan $9.99/$29.99 per month" under phone description is a bit time consuming plus I do not think Verizon lists on their website every phone that is available.
I perosnally would not mind the Alias 2 (a current phone that looks like it can pass without the data plan) but it looks like even that phone requires a data plan.
I can go on and on about how phone companies are having these charges to users but I guess we have no choice.. I feel bad for the older loyal customers who need to upgrade their cell phones and plans but have no use for data plans (due to generation differences, no offense but they would least likely need to check email, use the internet, etc.)

You might be interested in this. Here is a thread of phones mentioend that don't require a data plan-->Discontinued Phones No Data Plan  Of course their discontinued, but you can still get them else where

  • This isn't a question but rather a warning to anyone using the new OS for iphone 4.  The imessage uses up your data plan like crazy.  I called Apple about it and they said no it's not doing it.  I called AT

The new OS is burning through my data plan like crazy and here's why.  Imessage uses your data plan and not your texting plan.  So every time you send a text message to someone with an iphone it uses imessage and it uses your data, not your text plan.  I couldn't figure out why I was burning through so much of my data plan so quickly.  I called Apple and they said, no it's not the data plan doing it.  I called AT&T and they said, yes, the imessage uses data instead of your texting plan if you are texting to another iphone.  Also, the new OS runs your apps all the time, even when you aren't using them.  So if you are not near wifi your apps are running and burning your data plan.  The AT&T guy took me through the steps to turn off the apps.  You can still use them but they won't be running constantly.  Seriously Apple, you should let people know this.  It does say it in the fine print on the website "data rates may apply" under imessage but most people will never read this.  So my data plan started on October 10th and it's already at 175 megabytes and I only have a 200 megabyte plan.  I've never used more than 50 to 75 megabytes in a month.  Apple get it together and be honest with people and tell them.  Quit denying the problem.  Most people have probably not even discovered this yet.  Wait till you get your bill.

    kimmie92592 wrote:
It's not really common knowledge because I've talked to several people today and none of them knew about it.  Also, when I called Apple they said no the new OS is not using data.  Totally wrong answer.  You'd think they'd know about it and at least tell people.  The people who are going to be hit by this are people like me with the 200mb plans.  I just think it's best to spread the word so people can know what's happening.  I still don't know how I went through so much data in such a short period of time.  It's not happening anymore though, not since I fixed everything up last night.
If you are using a free wifi connection, there are no data charges with iMessage.  But in an area where you did NOT have a wifi connection, of course it used 3G and of course you got charged for it (or had it count against your plan limits).
I'll ask again - without a wifi connection, just what did you think was happening?  How did you think your iPhone was able to magically send a message WITHOUT using any data connection?  A little bit of rational thought would have made you realize that there was no way, over a 3G connection (which is a service provided by your cellular service provider, NOT Apple), that you can send or receive ANYTHING without your service provider's plan picking it up.
Nothing abut iMessage has ever hinted that it can, in any way, bypass your service provider when NOT using a wifi connection.

  • Cannot activate facetime - says I need eligible data plan - called AT&T and they confirmed I had an eligible plan and said I needed to contact Apple

Cannot activate facetime - says I need eligible data plan - called AT&T and they confirmed I had an eligible plan and said I needed to contact Apple

I have AT&T also just called them yes to use Facetime on there network you need the mobile share program but if you have wifi in your home like I do and I am always on my wifi 95% the facetime will work on Wifi I am thinking of doing this in Feb because I will have 3 iphone devices on the acct and the price that I quoted will be about 20.00 less then I estamated I would be paying for 3 iphones if I keep the plan I have now and add another separate internet on the 3rd iphone it will be close to 200.00

  • How to put two devices on one Data plan?

I've had my phon with a 2gb Data plan for about a year and just recently bought a Jetpack with a 6gb Data plan to replace my original and be shared between the two.
A month later I get my bill and find im still being charged for both. I kind of expect this seeing as I didn't buy the new plan when my original bill was scheduled for payment.
Two months after, Im still paying for both. And what's worse, Im being overcharged with my phone Data plan because I had thought I had more Data to use.
I've tried going back to the retailer, but the just directed me to contact Verizon. I've made very many attempts to contact Verizon, to no avail. Whether it be through calling, Chat, forums, anything. I can't find any direct email for customer support. I am angry and very unhappy with the service.
Any suggestions on either getting in contact with Verizon (my available calling hours never seem to match up with theirs) or fixing it myself if possible. Thank you.

If you're on the old Nationwide plans data between devices can not be shared. You need to be on Share Everything to share Data. Of course if you didn't become a Verizon customer until after June 28th 2012 you SHOULD be on Share Everything.
For the record a Share Everything plan with a smartphone a jetpack and 8 GB of data would be $150 plus taxes/fees

  • How do I get my unlimited data plan back

Upgraded my phone at a verizon booth in a SAM's club and was told that nothing would change on my plan. They activated the phone and got everything all set up so I didn't skip a beat. A couple days later I receive a text from VZW that I was close to going over my data minutes so knew something was wrong. Called VZW and sure enough was told that unlimited data was not longer provided and since I upgraded my phone I lost the plan. I explained I had not been given that piece of information and if had I would not have changed phones as the unlimited data is more important to me. The VZW I talked with was verify helpful and said I should have been told, that since I was not told he would send a request to corporate to get the unlimited data back for me. He even bumped me up from 2G to 5G with no cost to me so that during the 48 hours that this could take I wouldn't incur any costs. I was so very pleased and assumed all was ok. Then yesterday I receive another text from VZW again telling me my data was close to going over my plan. Surprised I called VZW today and again talked with a rep who was very pleasant but informed me that the request sent to corporate was rejected and guess what, I wasn't informed and now it is past the 14 days so I can't return the phone and re-establish my plan back to how it was prior to the new phone. I was told I had been sent a email telling me this was rejected but I have no record of an email. I don't understand why I get texts when I' close to going over data but they wont send a text to tell me a request has been rejected and this is sent to some bogus email account that I'm not aware of or even a notification sent where I can go into my vzw account and call up the notification of reject... nothing... then I'm told the only way I can get in touch with corporate is to via mail.... really.... a company that's business is smart phones, who communicates with me via texts, emails, and I can't get in touch with them other then mail. So because I upraded my phone, I am now under a 2 year contract again, so can't just cancel my account without penalty and I have no unlimited data. How is that customer service.

Yes I was told I could return my phone within 14 days; however, when the vzw customer service rep I toalked with told me they agreed I should have been told this important piece of information and submitted an "Inactive Price Request" to Corporate on my behalf, I assumed after the 48 hour waiting period that my data had been restored since I was NOT NOTIFIED by vzw that they had rejected the request. By the time I was texted again from vzw that I was close to exceeding my data plan it was past the 14 days and vzw will not honor returning the phone at this point. What I find interesting is the vzw is great about sending text and emails when a person is close to exceeding or exceeding their plan however they were not able to send me a text or email telling my they had rejected my request to reinstate my unlimited data plan. A bit sneeky and unprofessional in my opinion.
