No HW acceleration on E450 with HD6320

Hello!
I bought 2 IdeaPad S205, one with E350, the other one with E450. The E350 works perfectly while the E450 lacks the HW acceleration on video. I have tried driver versions until 11.11(including). Also tried about every trick and tip I could find on google about E 450 (there are no many though) and still can't play 1080p video and flash videos on internet have a big lagg. 720p video playback from HDD works but the CPU is 40-70%.
S/N of the E450 is ***** and I have Win XP SP3, updated until Nov 2011. The strange thing is that I can't find driver support for E450 on AMD site(only E350), and the video drivers from Lenovo don't work.
So.... PLEASE HELP!!!

if you use Windows XP SP3 , be shure you installed the latest for XP is  DirectX 9.0c (Jun 10)
and DotNet Framework   latest VGA Driver for Windows XP you could found here for S205
the latest Adobe Flash Player 11.1.102.55 u should set a hook enable hardware acceleration... as described above in the link that offer yigit

    I´m trying to enable GPU acceleration, but even with the latest drivers it wont enable.
    Note that this is with AMDs Legacy driver for Windows 8 x64. The card is a 4870x2.
    Firefox wants a higher driver number then 12.8 but in CCC it states that my driver version is 13.1.

    hello, there seems to be a different technical driver naming scheme by amd for radeon HD 2/3/4000 series graphic cards (their latest driver version is 13.1 which translates to the technical version 8.97.100.7) & hd 5/6/700 cards (13.4, which translates to 12.104.0.0).
    due to crashes triggered by older driver versions firefox is blocking all cards below version 9.10.8.0 for HWA - i don't think it is possible to differentiate these blocks for certain card models (since there are too many of them)...
    you could try to circumvent the blocklisting like it is described at https://wiki.mozilla.org/Blocklisting/Blocked_Graphics_Drivers#How_to_force-enable_blocked_graphics_features though.

  • With hardware acceleration enabled, and with plenty of tabs open, using the Windows 7 taskbar preview option will almost always crashed the nVidia display driver.

    Latest Firefox 4 beta 6.
    nVidia GT240 1GB DDR3 with driver version 258.96.
    Windows 7 Ultimate.
    If I have plenty of tabs opened, in Firefox 4 beta 6 with hardware acceleration enabled, using the Windows 7 Taskbar preview feature (that will show all the tabs Firefox has loaded) will cause the Nvidia display driver to crash. When this happen, the GUI part of Firefox will be unusable and has to be killed via Task Manager.
    This doesn't happen if hardware acceleration is disabled.

    It is beta software and the older 4.0 b6 version may not work with all display drivers.

    I am using Ubuntu 10.04 64-bit and FireFox 4 stable with a GT 240 and the latest nvidia binary driver. I have this set up as a HTPC through HDMI cable and have audio as well through the HDMI. It works wonderfully! I can watch x.264 and my intel celeron 2.8 GHz doesn't even get out of bed thanks to hardware acceleration.
    Now, that is NOT the case while on the web... It is a tall order to watch HD quality flash (although with the [http://demos.hacks.mozilla.org/openweb/HWACCEL/ mozilla hardware stress test] I get 45 FPS). It seems to be that hardware acceleration is still very much in its infancy in the linux environment with firefox 4.
    After searching through many threads I have come to find some useless information.

    There seems to be an issue with firefox not recognising the installed graphics card.   • GPU Acceleration not working with large .psd?

    My GPU accelleration works fine, but after I saved a large psd and quit, the next time I opened the file, the gpu was greyed out in the options. If I quit PS and restarted it, gpu would work again for new and other files, but when I try to open this same one, accelleration is disabled every time -- worked fine when I first created the file.
    Is there a reason that this file in particular is suddenly incompatible with accelleration?  It's not really that big of a file, 600mb.  I'd really like to know why this is happening and somehow get my accelleration back for this one file I'm working on.

    I've had OpenGL become disabled on about 2 occasions without knowing why it happened (never so far with 12.0.3 though).
    Clearly there's some kind of "restorative" logic in Photoshop to try to overcome the numerous possibilities for failure due to OpenGL implementations being so diverse.
    What's the pixel count, bit depth, number of layers, styles, content, etc. of this file?
    What display adapter (video card) do you have?  What version of drivers?
    I have recently seen a problem where the Text tool won't show its bounding box or cursor with a large file that's zoomed in.  I don't know whether this has anything to do with what you're seeing.
    I don't know how feasible it is but it's possible Chris Cox or someone at Adobe might like to see the file with which a problem like this can be reproduced.

  • Disabling hardware acceleration resolved issue with Google Maps not loading in Firefox 19

    For the last few days noticed that I could no longer use Googlemaps in Firefox 19. The page would completely load then if I typed a single character into the search box for google maps it would bring up the "Still loading" text and do nothing.
    Followed a couple links on the Mozilla support page and started Firefox in safemode. Maps was speedy and worked fine in safemode. I started again without safemode and tried the simplest step to see if it would resolve the issue and disabled hardware acceleration. All of a sudden maps worked again. The strange part is when I re-enabled hardware acceleration maps continued to work (go figure, makes no sense to me).
    Just wanted to post my experience for others who may be having a similar problem.
    System is Windows XP 32bit

  • No 3D acceleration with ASUS P5VD2-MX

    Greetings for you all.
    I'm using a Motherboard ASUS P5VD2-MX, witch contains a VIA P4M890, and with OpenChrome driver, I can't get 3D acceleration with it.
    I have fallowed the instructions on

    and the only way I can use the graphic environment is by adding:
    Option "NoAccel" "true”  in the Section "Device" of my xorg.conf.
    Before using OpenChrome I used UniChrome with no 3D effects as well. Due to this I'm using Gnome 3 and the Gnome shell is not running... I can only use the “Fallback Mode”.
    The manufacturers say that 3D acceleration is possible with that hardware, however for me it's not working.
    Can you please point me in the right direction.

  • Preview slower with hardware GPU acceleration enabled than software only?

    Sorry if this had been asked before.
    But somehow my preview/playback was slower and choppy once I enable the hardware GPU acceleration(I mean I select the 'mercury playback engine gpu acceleration' under Project-Settings-General')
    I followed the following tips to enable my graphic card, (thanks David)

    I was working on a clip of approx 3 mins long with majority of the footage(1920 and 720) from a DSLR, some 1920 clips from gopro hd2 and some 1440 clips from a P&S camera(scale to 1920 to match the sequence setting). main effects applied (magic bullet looks).
    Before I enabled my graphic card and selected it from the project setting, the preview was ok, nearly smooth all the way except some sections with dynamic links, but once I turn it on, the preview became ridiculously choppy, I couldn't believe my eyes, so I turned it off (select mercury playback engine software only), did playback again, it became much smoother!(or just as smooth as it was when it was under that setting, it's just that comparison gave me a bad impression of my hardware gpu acceleration).
    btw: I'm running on a low spec laptop
    Core™ i7-2670QM 2.2GHz turbo to 3.1GHZ
    8GB DDR3 memory
    NVIDIA GeForce 555M 1GB graphics
    750G HDD(I partition to 150G system drive and 600G media drive) 5400RPM (I know, it's slow)
    currently have about 80G and 400G empty space on two drives respectively.
    15.6” HD display (max resolution 1366x768)
    I know the machine is not a proper workstation to work with CS6, but the hardware gpu acceleration was slower than the software only gpu acceleration was beyond my understanding, not a minor difference we are talking about, it was much much slower!
    Have I done something wrong?
    Any tips would be appreciated.

    Here's my guess.
    MB Looks runs on the GPU at all times, though not in the same way as Adobe's 'accelerated' effects.  With CUDA off, the graphics card was free to process the Looks effects at full speed.  With CUDA on, PP took some of those resources and Looks processed slower.
    Remove Looks and replace it with PP's native accelerated effects and you'll see what all the hoopla is about.

    I don't really know it but "Unknown chipset" sounds like the card may be so new that it is not yet supported, even in testing. "softpipe" means that it is using software rendering instead of the actual 3d hardware.
    It probably will work with newer git versions from mesa and xf86-video-ati and maybe the radeon branch of the kernel. All is found in the inofficial [radeon] repository:

  • IMAC's Top graphics card frustration - Cheap and no support for Adobe Mercury Playpack Engine GPU Acceleration?

    If anyone has a solution for getting the Mecury Playpack Engine GPU acceleration to work with Premiere Pro CS6 on an iMAC 2011, please let me know. Like I wonder if you could Thunderbolt an External graphics card somehow? Or is an upgrade possible? Ahh...not worth the risk.
    Please, if you have a solution for me, let me know. Otherwise I find it pretty frustrating that I purchased a top-end iMAC, fully maxed-out in every way possible, and that the iMac doesn't support Adobe Premiere's Mercury Playback Engine GPU acceleration. Also, an old USB 2.0 Hub and thus the built-in SD card reader is slow. If you have SD cards with 95MB/s Transfer, Read and Write speeds, the iMAC will only transfer at around 30MB/s if you're lucky. Technically 480Mbs which is around 50MB/s but I haven't seen those speeds.
    I figured this could at least be circumvented with a Thunderbolt SD card reader or a Thunderbolt to USB 3.0 adapter but of course no such thing exists.
    Well, nothing with a reasonable price tag. This all might seem trivial to some but when you're uploading 24 hours of HD video footage from a 128GB SDXC card, the speed makes a big difference.
    And come on, no BluRay support? Ridiculous. I get the politics of why but still, just ridiculous. It would be nice to be able to burn a BluRay to watch in my home theater system. There are other methods but BluRay is convenient and great for backing up large Video Files. Unfortunately BluRay looks like it's not going to make it.  Maybe cable distribution companies will increase their Internet upload speeds one day and I can just store everything in the cloud and watch full length movies(that I've created) on Vimeo.
    Anyways, I went and took a look at the hardware Apple stuffed inside my fancy (3.4 Ghz i7, 16GB 1333 DDR3, 2GB AMD 6970M, 256 GB SSD Internal and 2TB 7200 Internal) machine and it appears to be pretty middle of the range stuff. It's an iMAC, not a Mac Pro so why am I griping? Because my 2009 PC(which I tricked out over the last two years) is faster and does support the Mercury Playback Engine. I spent $2100 total on this PC which includes all my upgrades. I spent around $3300 on the iMAC. I feel ripped off.
    Yes, I do love my iMAC on multiple levels but had I known my dated 2009 PC would render video projects faster, I would have gone with a MAC Pro or just a new PC. It seems that Mac is moving completely away from making high-end computers for niche markets(video editing) and focusing on their tiny laptops, IPADS and IPhones for the masses. Obviously smart from a capitalistic perspective(at present at least) but very frustrating for some.
    I was actually told to purchase a MAC for video editing. I've been a PC guy for 15 years. I went with the iMAC because I had read many good things about it(probably just Apple propaganda)  and also the MAC PRO was to be discontinued. Also the MAC Pro would have been triple the cost for what didn't seem like a whole lot more.
    It's one's thing to prepackage a computer with inferior hardware(the iMAC I have is fast for most things and more than enough for 99% of the population) but to not allow us to pop open the computer and make a quit upgrade to the machine is what really makes me feel like I'm using a computer built for Grannies. I mean there is a reason my mother loves iMacs and Iphones. Amazing that I was able to upgrade my memory from 4 to 16GB  but I've heard Apple has even done away with that. I get why they do it. Apple Warranty, Apple Care issues, Profit and World Domination: Apple wants a monopoly on everything.
    Was great to see Adobe bounce back after the whole Flash/HTML5 thing and knock Final Cut Pro off the face of the Earth for good. People are still buying it b/c of the brand name but Final Cut is done. David Fincher used Adobe's Workflow for everything when he made The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo. Hollywood is making the shift and the world will follow. The Adobe Workflow has finally come together and there is just no way Apple can compete with Adobe Creative Cloud and an Engine that can just swap from Premiere to After Effects to Prelude to SpeedGrade to Photoshop to Story with speed for $29 bucks a month(or $49 for some). Apple better start supporting Adobe's Mercury Engine or they may have a problem. And if you're using Final Cut X, you're severely handicapping yourself. Problem is that people don't want to take the time to learn Adobe's products(steep learning curve for sure) which is where Apple's Granny software, and perhaps computers, comes in to play. Arnold Schwarzenegger once said "Milk is for babies, Real Men Drink Beer".  I'm beginning to think that "Mac's are for Grannies, Real Men Use Adobe and PCs".
    The major problem with Apple is you're forced to use Apple. Not sure but history has proven that people don't like to be forced into anything. Autocracies don't work. These systems eventually topple, even in the corporate world.
    Amazon.com, now that's the company to emulate. What an amazing machine!

    1) Graphcis Card  - AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048 MB (6990 would have been better or something from NVIDIA.
    2) USB 2.0 Hub with only 480 Mb/sec
    3) Seagate Baracude SATA I 7200 RPM drive with 3GB/s transfer rate and only a 32 GB Cach. It's ok. I would have expected at least a Western Digital Caviar Black 2 TB SATA III 7200 RPM 64 MB  or the Velociraptor at 10,000RPM.
    4)APPLE SSD TS256C  Flash Drive. As you can see, it doesn't stack up so well against other SSD Drive.

    Whining and ranting about how iMacs can't do this or iMacs/orMacs can't do that is not going to get you a lot of help here.
    Your "I love my MAC" is typical of the ever ubiquitous PC whiner.
    If your video work needs were that computer intensive and critical , you should've done some online research and you should have budgeted for a Mac Pro.
    Mac Pros are completely expandable and upgradeable unlike the iMac.
    Mac Pros have much more faster and more CPU cores than the iMac line.
    iMac line is limited to CPUs with 8 cores. The Mac Pros, I believe, are up to 16 core CPUs, now.
    The Mac Pros can have their GPU upgraded and you even add/expand to use specialty audio/video cards.
    Mac Pros are the defacto standard for real video work.
    iMacs, even the high end model, is not really designed to do really heavy and intensive video work.
    iMacs do do video creation and editing. Just not on the level that is needed from a more "Pro" computer.
    It seems to me you are asking your iMac to do more than it was originally designed for, in terms of professional video editing.
    You get a lot more out of a Mac Pro than an iMac for any real serious video, CGI or animation work.
    You just didn't want to spend that much cash on one.
    iMacs are not user upgradeable or friendly to user upgrades at all!!!
    If you purchased a Mac Pro, you could've had that better, faster HD, better faster SSDs.
    That said, I can offer no real help to but because of the nature of your post and the fact you just simply annoyed me, I feel some advice and explanations are in order
    First off, you picked Adobe video editing software suite as your video creation software on the Mac.  It's no secret to long-time video content creators on the Mac that Adobe products, especially those for video creation and editing are very user unfriendly on the Mac. Even though Macs are supported from Adobe, Adobe for a long time has treated the Mac and Mac users as second class citizens.
    Before purchasing and installing Adobe Premiere, did you even check Adobe's site for the preferred system hardware and software requirements? Hmmm?
    This is why you should KNOW what software you are going to be running on a computer first then research what computer make and model will run said software.
    That's why Apple has its own apps like Aoerture, Logic and Final Cut.
    Despite your ignorance in this matter, Final Cut Pro X is alive and doing well, thank you, and using this software on your iMac would kick Adobe Premier in the you know whats.
    Final Cut Pro X is a complete video solution for and completely designed around the Mac.
    Why are you using USB 2.0 connections for video work when you have a perfectly good FireWire 800 connection.
    In case you are not aware, FireWire 800 is called so because it has a max throughput of 800 Mbps.
    Your 2011 iMac can take up to 32 GBs of RAM. Not just 16 GBs.
    This changed when the 2010 model iMacs came out.
    Blu-ray? I believe you can buy external Blu-ray writers that work with Mac using said FW800 connection.

  • Hardware Acceleration Causes Blue Screen of Death - Resolution?

    My computer running Windows 7 64 bit started crashing with Blue Screen of Death when Viewing YouTube videos or other videos like The Daily Show.  The "solution" was to turn off hardware acceleration.
    The crashing appears to have stopped, but now the video quality is degraded and jerky, to the point that the video can just freeze while the audio continues.  So either I crash or I have poor video playback.
    Has anyone found a solution to the BSOD that would enable me to re-activate hardware acceleration?
    Symptoms with hardware acceleration enabled:  Computer will crash after playing a handful of YouTube or other online Flash videos.  Exact number of successful playbacks varies, but it will usually crash somewhere around the sixth playback (I cruise YouTube the way other cruise Wikipedia.)  The screen will first flash black on one video, and when the next video starts, the computer crashes.

  • A few questions about OpenGl acceleration

    My system:
    Vista Ultimate 32bit, Intel Q6600, Geforce 8600GT/512MB, 4G Ram, newest card driver.
    1. Do the graphics driver setting have any influence on Photoshop? If yes, what are the recommended settings?
    2. Flick panning is stuttering a bit. Is my card too slow then?
    3. When I do "flick-panning" it sometimes happens, that I get to an area of the picture that is displayed extremely blurry. That means I start flick-panning in a sharp area and after a second or so I get to a blurred area. The graphics card seems to wait until the pannnig stops completely before it renders the picture sharp. Why doesn`t it render the picture sharp WHILE panning? Again, is my card too slow?
    4. Birdseye view. If I`m zoomed in in a very large picture and press the H-key and press the mouse button to zoom out (birdeye view) I often get a view of the picture that is partly blurred. As soon as I release the mouse to zoom in again it gets sharp....but not before (in the zoomed out-view).
    5. Color management: To get colormanagement I have to switch on "color matching" in the advanced OpenGl options. Otherwise the picture is displayed like in a browser without colormanagement. But if this option is on, I get slight banding in a black/white gradient in the shadows.
    This gets really ugly if I make a black/white gradient in a huge colorspace like ProPhoto.
    6. When OpenGl is off, screen redrawing is much slower than in CS3.
    In CS3 it takes about 1/10sec for the whole picture (my screen res is 1024/1200), in CS4 it takes about 5/10sec (just estimating).
    The side effect of this is that no matter wether OpenGL is on or off, moving parts of the picture with the move tool is MUCH slower than in CS3.
    After all, don`t get me wrong....I really like the new GPU stuff. Just trying to figure out wether I can get it even better.
    Can some of you Adobe guys explain, please?

    Stefan, I just installed a new EVGA nVidia GTX 9800 card with 512MB onboard. I've been looking for any help on the advanced "use OpenGL drawing" preference options and haven't found anything.
    Is "flick panning" where you use the hand tool to activate a pan - and with hardware acceleration you get a ballistic response? Adobe calls it a hand toss. I get some mild stuttering doing that. Compared to the ATI FireGL v3400 card I just replaced, dynamic zooming is smoother with the new card, but the ballistics is something I'd like to disable so there's no lag when I lift my stylus before zooming stops.
    Doing bird's eye view most of the time I'm not seeing any artifacts, but occasionally I see a rectangular area within the full image view blurry (as if it's the first step in a progressive rendering).
    The 178.24 nVidia control panel lets you adjust settings for individual applications. As far as I can tell, only the feature "Multi-display/mixed-GPU acceleration" is different than the global settings with its boldface "compatibility performance mode" enabled.
    If I disable "color matching" in the advanced drawing GPU preferences, if convert a wide gamut image to sRGB, the preview in the conversion control panel is fine, but after conversion the image is no longer color managed. It's very obvious on my wide gamut display. If I save the image, it converted as previewed and will display accurately when reopened.
    I think CS4 without GPU enhancement is a slug compared to CS3. I think there will be a mass movement to graphics card upgrades with this release.
    Bridge color management turns off if I enable "software rendering" in preferences. So I can either have unscrambled pdf previews after page one in some documents, or I can have CM working - but not both. This is consistent between my new graphics adapter and my old one. I got the new one to get past the severe 128MB limitations on Photoshop's OpenGL performance. PS gave me warnings that GPU acceleration would work with only two windows open, and tonight I found technotes with some tantalizing but unspecific information:

    So is color management going away a "visual artifact" - as usual, you have to dig to find basic help info and it's usually very sketchy when you do find it.

    although hardware acceleration was supposed to be better in Premiere CC, it stopped working completly for me. The option to hardware accelerate is grayed out

    It worked pretty ok in CS 6 (apart from system freezes when using CUDA…) . Kind of a let down. Please help.

    With this "hack" I was able to enable the CUDA acceleration. I inserted "GeForce GT 650M" in the aforementioned textfile (without "Nvidia"). Before that I also could only use software acceleration.
    Now with my machine I think I should also be able to use OpenCL, right? How do I get this option? These are my specs:

  • E450 disk installation - format does not see disk

    We have an E450 with three disk controllers.
    One with four drives and two RAID controllers with eight drives. Both RAID controllers are RAID5.
    The four drive controller has two 9GB drives.
    One RAID controller has eight 9GB drives.
    The other RAID controller has eight 18GB drives.
    We have three failed 18GB drives and are trying to install new drives, but the system does not see them.
    We cannot get the system to recognize the new 18GB drives, even when we put them into the two open slots on the four-drive controller.
    Probe-SCSI sees the new drives, but format does not.

    I was wondering what steps you took to resolve this issue?
    We put in 8 hard disks and the Solaris OS (format command) recognizes only 6 hard disks. All 8 hard disks are seen when we issue probe-scsi-all, but only 6 are seen using format command. We are running Veritas VM & Cluster Server 3.5.
    Any advice will be greatly greatly appreciated.
