No Hyperthreading Function in BIOS menu

Hi!
Recently I bought MSI NEO2-FIS2R motherboard. I have Pentium4 processor 2.4GHZ with hyperthreading. I don't see "Hyper Threading Function" in BIOS so I can't Enable/Disable it. But in Windows XP I can see 2 processors. On the other hand, Linux is not able to use hyperthreading - I can see only 1 processor. Although, in /proc/cpuinfo I can see "ht" flag so processor seems to be OK.
Has anyone run into the same problem? Is it problem with BIOS or something else?
Thanks.

I found the answer. We need to update our BIOS to 1.7. Intel has a new stepping (old: SL6WF, new:SL6Z3) since August 03 and these CPU's could not be detected correctly with BIOS 1.5
The Sept 2003 Specification Update of the P4 indicates:
S-Spec CoreStepping CPUID SpeedCore/Bus Notes

Try CPU-Z to confirm this. Can you verify if
a. in PC Health Status, is Vcore down to ~ 1.42 V?
b. in Freq/Voltage Control, is the default CPU Vcore down to 1.42 V? What are the available increments?
Now the big question - because of the lower Vcore, does this CPU have lower temps and higher OC potential?

  • Dynamically changing the functions in a menu based on the user (in SSHR)

    Dear All,
I have a requirement to change the functions in a menu dynamically.
For Ex: An employee is allowed to apply Advance only in the first one month of his/her joining. I created it as an EIT and attached the function, to the menu. Now, i want to remove it automatically from the menu if his/her term in the company crossed one month.
Can any one tell me how to automatically disable it after one month.
    Thanks and Regards

The following code should do it. In this example, MyCellRenderer is the renderer class implementing TableCellRenderer, used for displaying combo box.
    TableCellRenderer renderer= new MyCellRenderer();
    (JComboBox)renderer.addActionListener(new ActionListener(){
        public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {
            //Your event handling goes here

  • New Mac PRO - Windows 8 Pro Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's bios menu

    Hello all,
I got a new Mac Pro 2013, and am trying to install windows 8 using the Boot Camp Utility.  It creates a 200GB partition, partitioned in FAT.  Having done this on my other computers, I usually hit advanced options and then reformat the partition as NTFS.  I then install.  When i format, I still get this error:
Windows 8 cannot be installed - ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's bios menu.  I'm not sure how to get past this step.  I am trying to boot from the windows 8 CD and run setup after I partition the drive.  I have the USB key with the apple setup files on it.
    What am I missing?

Apparently installing via an ISO fixed this issue for me.

  • Qosmio X70-A-K2S - How do I get to the BIOS menu?

    Hello!
    I have a laptop Qosmio X70-A-K2S.
I want to replace one of the hard drives on the SSD.
How do I get to the BIOS menu?
Recommendations from the user manual (reboot and release F2 for 1 sec.) do not help.
I can not get any BIOS menu or BOOT menu.
But easily fall into the recovery menu by pressing the 0.

    >Recommendations from the user manual (reboot and release F2 for 1 sec.) do not help
Sure this is right is Win 8 preinstalled?
Probably this is the reason why you cannot access the BIOS.
The Windows 8 does not shut down the notebook by default but it perform hybrid shut down.
This allows to boot the notebook much faster but as I said, it prevents accessing the BIOS.
Take a look here how to perform shut down on Windows 8 preinstalled notebook:

  • How to auto create Report Search functions and Breadcrumb Menu on new pages

    Hi
First off I want to say I have just started using Html DB, and think its a great product! I have been using it for a few months now to create an application, and find it flexible, powerful, but still fairly simple to use.
When I create a new Application using "Based on Existing Tables", the pages that get created have some very nice Report Search functions and Breadcrumb Menu features generated automatically.
I want to do the same when I add pages to an existing application. That is, I want new pages to automatically include those Report Search functions and Breadcrumb Menu features.
I have tried various combinations of the existing wizards, but I have not been able to find any that generate all those features automatically. I know I can create pages using the page wizard, and then manually add the Report Search and Breadcrumb Menu. But that is very tedious. Nor can I find a better answer in the forum
    Any suggestions or ideas?
    Thanks
    Richard

Can you show the scripts and reports screenshort, so we can have a clerarl idea.

  • Query functionality  in custom menu

    Hi,
I have created my custom menu and attached to my form. when i compiled iam not able to see some standard functions like Query functionality. Is there any process to achieve query functionality in custom menu attached to form

You want to have something like an "Execute Query" in your menu. Add a menuitem of type PL/SQL and put the code
DO_KEY('EXECUTE_QUERY');Same procedure would be for other "query-menu"-items

Yes, was also a problem in v1.D. MSI are aware...  You can still navigate the BIOS using the keyboard.

  • H67MA-E45 BIOS menu freezes

    Silverstone 500W SST-ST50F-P
    Kingstone Dual channel 1333MHz 4GB (2x2GB) Dual Channel KVR1333D3N9K2/4G
Since day one of firing up my new build, the BIOS freezes while in any BIOS setup menu after about half a minute or so.
POST and bootup both go by without either issue or delay and I can still change BIOS settings if I'm fast enough.
The strange thing is, memtest86+ shows no errors and Windows is perfectly stable as far as I can tell, though I haven't put it under heavy load yet.
I've successfully tried flashing (via forum tool, after memtest) to the most recent BIOS version with no luck in fixing this issue.
Any ideas or things I might have overlooked?
EDIT: Eh, wrong section? Sorry if it is, was half asleep when I posted (and still am).

BIOS menu is no longer freezing. I think I stumbled onto the fix by coincidence.
New keyboard/trackball (IOGEAR GKM561R) came in the mail, so I installed it and removed the temporary keyboard and mouse I was using originally.
A little while later I went into BIOS and found that it didn't freeze anymore. Thinking it was an issue with the USB keyboard or mouse I previously used,
I tried entering BIOS with just the previous keyboard. It was stable, but once I tried again with both the keyboard and the mouse the problem returned.
I'm thinking the mouse (steelseries KINZU) or a combination of the keyboard (Razer BlackWidow) and the mouse was the cause.
Also, just finished putting the system under heavy load with no stability issues. Looks like I'm in the clear. Thank you guys for lending me a hand, though. I really appreciate it.
EDIT: Bernhard, I didn't see your post until after I posted this, but it seems you were right on the money about the keyboard/mouse.

  • 6730 (655 Max-FISR) RAID BIOS menu - how to enter?

    Hey all,
according to http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_detail.php?UID=424, this model (6730) should have RAID 0 or 1 support.
But I can't quite figure out anything in the BIOS menu of it that has to do with this. So I installed two Serial ATA hdds onto my motherboard, and they are being detected just fine, no problem at all. So according to the Serial ATA menu, I start installing win2000 and do the F6 and S stuff, loading the drivers for the SATA drives. Then when I get to where it asks me where to install windows too, I get TWO harddrives listed for me to choose from, not one (I'm trying to do RAID 0 btw).
Well coming to think about it, that's logical: I did not set ANYTHING in the BIOS about the drives being in RAID -- I read some guides online on how to install RAID drives -- supposedly you press Ctrl-F to enter the BIOS for RAID controller and set RAID0, RAID1 and those stuff there. Where is this RAID BIOS menu for the MS-6730 motherboard?
most threads I read here, when people talk about doing RAID, most people get through the step "configure the hdds as RAID 0/1" really quickly by a mention with a sentence -- I think that's the part I'm stuck on. Maybe my question should be... how do I enter the RAID BIOS for this motherboard at all? The manuals that came with the mobo don't really have anything on RAID *at all*...
    [edit]
btw... I'm new to RAID arrays, so I'm not sure if I'm doing this right. I put my two (identical) hdds one connected to ser1 and one connected to ser2, on the motherboard. is that how you are supposed to do it? they are WD Caviar SATA drives (120gb) btw. jumpers shouldn't be a problem, the WD web site says for a SATA drive, the jumpers are only for power settings, no master/slave things.
    Thanks for any help.

  • Missing IPCA function in BIOS

I've been having some issues with standby on my new pc. I checked the power management portion of the BIOS, and I don't have a IPCA funtion to enable or disable. the menu starts at Sleep State. Also, I experience some weird crashes when running games or heavy Winamp visuals. Locks up as soon as it loads.
my bios version (according to Live Update) is 5.10
    any help appreciated,
    Imac,
    K7N2-L
    Athlon 2500 XP barton
    2 X 256megs Apacer 2700
ATI Rage Fury Pro 32 meg (yes it's dated, but i'm broke)
    Sound Blaster Live Value
    WD 40G HD + 8.4G Quantum HD
    Windows ME
    350 Watt power supply

After thinking about this I'm sure they left it out because they didn't have enuff room to put it in the BIOS. They are limited to how much code they can put in the BIOS still...you'd think that after all of this time they'd have as much room as they need to write more code into the CMOS chip but alas they've slacked on that in the industry it seems...
Being that you can control these functions thru Win2K and XP I don't think they're really addressing/supporting any OS's lesser than those these days...I can't say I blame them really...they were such unstable OS's that they figured that most ppl would have upgraded by now...they're right in that most ppl have but there are a choice few out there that haven't for various reasons...
They're after the business of the majority these days and as is the norm in this business they leave everyone else behind...I'm not saying this is correct, just the reality...
    Take care,
    Bonz

  • USB Keyboard/Mouse do not function in Bios (Bios Change log too)

I have 1.7 and the system seems fairly stable, a few BSOD's occasionally and it normally seems to occur when the system is idle. I can work on that, but now when I boot my usb keyboard will not function for the EFI/Bios. I have a Old PS2 keyboard working for now but was hoping there is some work around that someone might now. Everything is enabled in the Bios and I even disabled, saved, re- enabled, saved.
Saving (F10) still causes the system to power down, but I can live with that.
Now for the BIOS, can we get a change log to determine what issues are being resolved with these update? I have 1.8b7 downloaded but last update I lost my Raid array so I want to see change logs before a possible rebuild.
Lastly I am used to new hardware having issues especially with OCing, but the EFI/BIOS seems extremely temperamental. First MSI board and my work is on the road a lot so I am hoping to get some of this fixed soon.
    Thanks for any advice
