No Internet Access ASA 5510 with Site to Site VPN

I have inherited an ASA5510.
We have configured a site to site VPN between it and a Juniper SRX550. The Site to Site VPN works fine but users behind the ASA can not see the Internet. I'm pretty sure I'm missing something. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

    Hello Scott,
So Exchange server ip is obj-192.168.1.65 natted to 216.x.x.x
    object network obj-192.168.1.65
    "nat (inside,outside) static 216.XXX.XXX.XXX no-proxy-arp"
    The ACL says
    access-list outside_access extended permit tcp object-group Red-Condor object-group Exchange-Server eq smtp
    access-list outside_access extended permit tcp object-group Red-Condor object-group Exchange-Server eq pop3
From witch ip addresses are you trying to send traffic to the exchange server?
Please do a packet-tracer and give us the output
    packet-tracer input outside tcp x.x.x.x( Outside host ip) 1025 216.x.x.x.x 25

  • ASA 5510 with Cisco 2811 Router Behind it - Not forwarding traffic

    Hi all,
Some might know that I have been dealing with an issue where I cannot seem to get forwarded packets to reach their destinations behind an ASA 5510 that has a Cisco 2811 connected directly behind it.
    Some examples that work.
I can SSH into the ASA.
I can SSH to the Cisco Routers behind the ASA.
I cannot reach items beind the Cisco Routers.
My Configuration is this (I am sure I included a bunch of info I didn't need to, but I am hoping it'll help!):
I have a static Ip assigned to my Ouside Interface Ethernet 0/1
It has an IP address of 199.195.xxx.xxx
I am trying to learn how to shape network traffic (this is all new to me) via the ASA and the Routers to specific devices.
The Inside Interface on the ASA is 10.10.1.1 255.255.255.252
The Outside Interface on the 2811 is 10.10.1.2 255.255.255.252
I can ping the router from the ASA. I can SSH through the ASA to the router.
BUT I CANNOT ACCESS DEVICES BEHIND THE ROUTER.
So, I wanted to BAM that statement above because I just don't kjnow where the issue is. Is the issue on the router or the ASA, my guess is, the router, but I just don't know.
Here are my configs, helpfully someone can help.
ASA errors on the ASDM when I try and hit resources; specifically a web device behind the ASA and the 2811. It's Ip address 192.168.1.5 it's listening on port 80.Static IP, not assigned via DHCP.

I ran those commands while I had the nat off on the router and here are the results. note, i didn't make any changes to the ASA as you only said to remove the router RIP which I did and reloaded and no change.
As long as the statements ip nat outside on the Fastethernet 0/0 is off and the ip nat inside is off on the vlan and the overload statement is taken out, I cannot hit the internet.

  • No internet access on VLANs with RV042G and SG300

I'm trying to set up a network for a small business which will have different offices, and so I want to separate them all by VLAN so that they cann't access each other's files. The problem is that I can't access the internet from any of the VLANs, including the default.
The RV042G router is connected to the internet through the WAN1 port and has a static IP address of 10.4.1.1. I enables multiple subnets and added one for each of the VLANs (1 - admin, 10, 20, 30, 100 - guest). I also created static routes to the SG300 switch, which has an IP address of 10.4.1.2, 10.4.10.2, etc. The switch is in Layer 3 mode and is functioning as the DHCP server. I also have a wireless access point set up that broadcasts an SSID for each VLAN, however this is not the issue since no internet connection can be established wirelessly or with a wired connection.
I am fairly certain it has something to do with the data not being correctly routed through from the internet to the client, however I can't seem to find what is configured incorrectly. If anyone could offer some suggestions it would be appreciated. Please let me know if you need more info, I have attached some of the configuration screens for reference.

    Hi Paul,
Thanks for the suggestion, but I changed it from Gateway to Router and this didn't fix the problem, still no internet access.
I have a cabel modem box that connects to the RV042G through WAN1, and then the RV042G connects to the SG300 through port 1 on the RV042G. On the RV042G, this port is set to VLAN1, while the port on the SG300 is set as a trunk port. The SG300 is then assigning IP addresses to the clients. It has 4 different VLANs created that go to different offices. Does this help you understand the setup any better?

  • How to share internet access from iPhone with home LAN

    Hello,
Sorry if this has been asked before, but I just bought an iPhone and am trying to use it to provide internet access to a LAN at my cottage where only dial-up is possible with my ISP. Although this is easily accomplished by enabling internet sharing on my iMac and plugging it into my router's WAN port, I do not have any access to my IP printer or to my SONOS music system. Any pointers?
    Thanks,
    Martin Girard

Well, getting internet access for my iMac is straightforward using USB tethering (I live in Canada, no AT&T crap). Then, I can share this connection with other computers (via ethernet in my case) by enabling internet sharing (in the Sharing control panel). My problem is that once I plug my iMac in the WAN port of my router, I can't access my LAN anymore. Any ideas???

  • Internet access to new sharepoint foundation 2013 site collection

I had sharepoint 2010 installed on my WHS 2011. I successfuly created a new web application and site collection. I created a new SP default site on a port different from 80 and restarted the WHS 2011 default site in IIS. I could
see both the WHS 2011 and SP 2010 default sites from the server, my client PCs, and from my office. Great!
I uninstalled SP Foundations 2010 and installed SP Foundation 2013. I successfully created a web application on the same port I had used for SP Foundations 2010 because the firewall rule on my server and the port forwarding on my router
where already in place. I again restarted the WHS 2011 default site in IIS. I can see the WHS 2011 and SP 2013 Foundation default sites from the server and my client computers. However, I can't see the SP Foundation 2013 site from anywhere outsite
    of my home network.
    Help someone?

    1. I removed the IIS bindings to port 80 for the home server default site. Now, I can reach my share point default site remotely on port 80 by going to
http://x.home server.com and I can reach the home server default site by going to
    https://x.homesever.com/remote on port 443.
    2. Using Power Shell I created 3 host named site collections. I put the URLs to those collections in the server hot's file and disabled loopback. I can see the sites on hte server. However, how do I make my sites accessible remotely or maybe the correct
term is publicly on computers outside the network?
    3. I started down the road of host named site collections because I want to make them accessible remotely or publicly without using the x.home server.com domain name. However, I am starting to think that I am missing an important piece to making this work.
    Thanks

  • Accessing time capsule with osx server and vpn

i have apple server and a time capsule that i use as harddisk. Now I want to access the time capsule by VPN. I cannot make an accesspoint of my time capsule.
When I turn off file sharing on the time capsule and turn it on on the server then i cannot access my files locally.

    Sorry, have to disagree.
I have a time capusle and its in the hfs+ and my vista pc reads it fine.
You do need to download the airport software for windows from apple downloads. Install that and then, windows can see it fine under networking. Then to map a drive letter, just navigate to your time capsule in windows then right click on the share and give it a drive letter.
Or you can use the cd that came with your time capsule in your windows pc and it will install the client from there.

  • ASA 5510 and Windows Vista/7 VPN problems

Hi, I'm a programmer that's had to take over the sysadmin position (thank you economy) and our boss can't get access to the VPN with his new Windows 7 laptop. I've been banging my head trying to figure this out but I can't.
I think it gets past the phase 1 stuff, because windows stops the connection process when it hits "Authenticating username/password."
It works on our old XP systems and on OSX. It just doesn't seem to work on Windows 7.
Can anybody help? What do I have to add or change to get it to work?
    Thanks so much in advance!

Let your Cisco rep know that this is an important feature. The word I have is that stateful firewall is not in the Vista feature set for Cisco.
The readme for the Cisco VPN client 5.0 bears this out:
    Known Issues:
CSCsh02887 Vista: Stateful firewall does not start.
CSCse44616 Vista: VPN Client should not install Zone Lab Firewall on Vista platform
CSCsf07334 Vista: Stateful Firewall Not Supported on Vista VPN Client

  • Site to Site VPN with an Asa 5510 & 5505

    Hey all,
Im hoping anyone can help me because i cant seem to figure it out. I managed to create an site to site vpn between location a an b.
I will be using fictional wan adresses.
    SiteA 20.20.20.20
    SiteB 21.21.21.21
Site B is a very simple netwerk. We have a Asa 5505 and directly plugged into this ASA is my computer. I get an DHCP adress from the asa etc. I use the range 192.168.1.0 /24 for this.
Site A is a little bit more complex. I have ASA 5510 with 2 configured interfaces. Outside (Called WAN) and Inside (called DMZ)
The DMZ uses the range 192.168.200.0 /24
Inside the DMZ i have another firewall (UTM appliance) configured at(this is a fictional ip adress) 192.168.200.1
This firewall serves as gateway for the lan and also has 2 interfaces. One on the LAN side and one on the DMZ side. (DMZ 192.168.200.1 - LAN 10.1.1.254) The ASA has a static route configured towards the LAN.
How can i create a site to site from Site A's LAN to SiteBs. I have managed to create a Site to Site to A's DMZ. This works. I can RDP and PING adresses in the DMZ but whenever i try to reach the lan i get no reply. My first suspicion was that the UTM would block it but i cant find anything in its log files.
Would love some input. (i created the site to site using the GUI)

    Hi,
I think you should be able to do it. You just need to allow the required ports for LAN to LAN VPN like UDP 500 , ESP , 4500 etc.
Use NAT exempt on the UTM and add the Subnet to the Crypto ACL on the ASA device on both the Sides.
This should be able to do it.
    Thanks and Regards,

  • ASA 5510 NAT with IOS 9.1

    Hi All,
Hoping someone can clear this up for me.
I am trying to setup a ASA 5510 with IOS 9.1 and having NAT issues.
The ASA is connected inside the LAN to separate a second LAN.
    Internal (10.0.0.0/24) --> DG RTR (10.0.0.254) FE0/0--> FE0/1 (61.0.0.1/24) --> ASA outside (61.0.0.2/24) --> ASA Inside (192.168.1.0//24)
I keep getting Asymetric NAT rules matched for forward and reverse path flows when going from Internal to ASA Inside LAN
I fear it is my lack of understanding, when you have a router you can go between different LANs/subnets but with the ASA does it always NAT whatever happens?
If I statically NAT a device on the ASA Inside LAN I can get to the device via the 61.0.0.0 address and if I add what I believe to be an exemption rule to keep the translated packet the same as long as I specify something like Internal LAN to ASA Inside specific device it works but not if I do Internal LAN to ASA Inside LAN.
Hope that makes sense and someone can give me a clue to where I am going wrong with the setup / understanding.
If there are any good docs that might explain it would be appreciated as everything I have read so far has not given me an clarity.
    Many thanks

    Hi,
Just to clarify, are we talking about a situation the ASA is simply connected to an internal network (even though it might use public IP addresses)? Also, do you want to perform any NAT on this ASA or is there some separate firewall sitting at the edge of your network handling the external connectivity?
If the above things are true then you could simply leave your ASA NAT configuration totally blank and the ASA would not do any NAT to the traffic. This naturally would require that you make sure that routing for subnet 192.168.1.0/24 is handled on all the routers/devices on the network as this subnet would be directly visible with its original addresses (since we would leave the ASA NAT configuration blank). I manage a couple of environments where the customer has a internal ASA separating certain section of the LAN network and they dont have any NAT configurations.
The problems you mention in the post are probably due to Dynamic PAT configuration which means that your LAN can access the other parts of the Internal network but no connection is possible from the Internal network to this separate LAN behind the ASA. The reason there is that the connection from Internal LAN to the separate LAN wont match any NAT configuration but the return traffic (reverse check that the ASA does) will match the Dynamic PAT and that is why the traffic is dropped.
Static NAT done to the hosts behind the ASA will naturally help since there wont be any problems with the translation in that case in either direction.
You could take a look at a NAT Document I wrote way back in 2013. Though it wont really answer your specific questions here but perhaps it might be of help at some point

    Hope this helps :)

  • Multiple gateways for different Traffic on ASA 5510 firewall

    Hello,
My network atthe moment is set up as:
    WAN, with three sites
    Site 1
    Site 2
    Site 3
Site 1 is behind a non-Cisco firewall, which is connected to the internet via a Frame Relay link (using a Cisco 1721 router). We host a number of servers on the Internal network and DMZ's.
All sites connect to the WAN using Cisco routers or switches.
All internet traffic (IN and OUT) for all sites goes via the non-Cisco firewall.
I am interested in the ASA 5510 with six interfaces.
Using the ASA 5510 is it possible to set up two (2) internet connections, one via the Frame Relay and a second internet connection via an ADSL connection?
Then, is it possible to direct the outward-bound traffic via specific gateways based upon either:
    (a) the type of traffic, say HTTP from users behind the firewall; or
    (b) the IP addresses of the host (i.e. users' PC versus the servers)
    Any assistance is welcome.
    Kind regards,
    IT@C

yes you can do this with policy routing on the internet router in front of the firewall assuming that you are connecting both ISPs to that router. Also, remember that you can do vlans on the ASA. This may cut down on the # of interfaces that you use in your config.

  • ASA 5510 Network address translation through an internal network.

Is it possible to perform static Nat's through an internal network?
Here's my situation I have a ASA 5510 with a public outside interface (let’s call it 68.68.68.1), and I have an inside private IP address (192.168.1.2/24). The inside IP address leads to a 4900m with that interface being configured with a 192.168.1.1 (no switching). On the 4900 M I have several VLANs one of them is an internal DMZ of sorts. (192.168.2.0/24). Within this DMZ network are several Web servers which need to be associated a public IP address (68.68.68.x).
Every time I configure a static Nat to associating a public IP address with an internal IP address within the DMZ, packet Tracer on the ASA informs me that the packet gets dropped at the static Nat and I cannot figure out why this is so.
Safe it to say my question still stands is it possible to Nat (68.68.68.222 to and 92.168.2.60) given the configuration above, and how would I go about configuring in such the manner above so that I acn apply static nat through the 192.168.1.0 network to reach the 192.168.2.0 network.
Any help on this matter is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
