"no line" on phone

Hi hope someone can help as Im pulling my hair out.
I have a normal cordless BT phone which plugs into a fax/printer. The fax then in turn plugs into the main BT socket via  an ASDL lead and splitter adaptor. This has worked like this for several years.
A few days ago "No Line" appeared on my phone display. This is where it all gets weird !!
If i plug the phone directly into the BT socket it will work ok. If I plug it in via an adaptor/splitter then it wont work. Common sense says that the adaptor is broke so I bought a new one, it didnt work. I bought another, that didnt work either I have now tried 3 adaptors/splitters and the phone wont work through any of them. But it will work if plugged staright into the bare BT socket. I tried another phone and that one behaves in exactly the same way.
Im an electrician by trade so am well used to wires and fault finding but this has me baffled.

possibly a fax issue causing the line problem

  • Faulty Line - No Phone service for over 4 weeks.

    Hi,
    I've had NO phone or broadband for over 4 weeks and no useful information as to when this will be fixed.
    I'm hoping someone could provide me with and alternative contact number to the 0800 800 151/0330 123 4151 one, where I can speak to someone who is willing to actually help me and not just quote the false information that has been presented to them.
    I reported my fault on Friday 12th December 2014 and the online fault details page still shows an estimated repair date of Wednesday 17th December 2014.
    Being reported on a Friday it wasn't until the Monday 15th that an engineer turned up, spent all day investigating the fault to say that it was a network fault but that the engineers needed to get into a manhole in the middle of the street and this would require traffic lights and someone who be in touch with an update.
    No update received so I called and was told it took 5 days to arrange traffic management so engineers would be dealing 23rd/24th December.
    Needless to say the deadline passed no engineers no phone. Next call on the 29th told engineers would be dealing 31st December or 2nd January. Seems to be a pattern developing here.
    Called again, told traffice management was still to be sorted (thought this only took 5 days, what were the engineers doing 23rd/24th December or 31st December or 2nd January??????). Told engineers would be dealing 9th January.
    Surprise, surprise no engineers no fix one falsehood after another.
    Used chat this time only to be told "don't know why you were told engineers would be dealing on the 9th January, traffic management is still to be arranged.
    But I was told this would only take 5 days back on the 16th December??????
    Conversations just go round and round with no one willing to take owership of this fault and get it resolved.#
    To add further insult both the engineer who visited back on the 16th December and at least one of the numerous people I have spoken to on the phone had said that there are several household impacted by this fault.
    Knowing that I would have expected a bit more urgency.
    Mobile service is poor at my home location and I have elderly parents who need to be able to contact me and my land line is essential for this. Hotspots are very weak and I'm lucky if I can connect for a few minutes at a time, and if other household members want to connect at the same time then there is no chance.
    Very disappointing.

    Only people on forum that can help are the forum mods who are BT employees. They will post a contact us link.

  • CUCM 10 Barge/CBarge with shared line between phone and a remote device

    Is it possible to configure CBARGE/BARGE feature if shared line is between a cisco phone and a remote device.
    When remote device picks up the phone, red light comes up on the phone, if we press the line button to Cbarge, dial tone comes up and the call does not go into a conference.
    Has anyone used that feature? Can it be configured?

    We are using Lync for tesing purposes.
    we tried scenario with Remote device as a mobile phone.  Where calls are being sent through SIP trunk to CUBE and then to our provider. Maybe I should add some commands on CUBE router?
    Is that feature (CBARGE) designed to work in that scenario when shared line is answered via remote device on CUCM 10.5.1.10000-7.  I am suspecting that its not designed to work that way (If its designed to work that way, we will continue on with collecting traces, etc).

  • Strange vertical lines - unresponsive phone

    Hello! I have an iPhone 4s, and recently a friend dropped it and smashed the screen. I got it repaired, and then I noticed what looked like a broken pixel at the bottom of the screen. After noticing this, my phone has randomly gone black, unresponsive for x amount of time, and then it will flash up with a white screen with strange lines which disappear over an hour or two, leaving me unable to use my phone. It happened again, but I was left with coloured lines such as green and blue vertically on my phone screen. I sent my phone to be repaired by the previous person and they are unable to find anything wrong - what could it be? Many thanks in advance

    That you dropped it and you had a 3rd party fix your screen, who probably messed it up even more.  Or your phone was damage internally.

  • More questions about iphone family plan - second line regular phone

    I am planning to switch from a verizon family plan(2 phones) to att family plan with 1 3g iphone and one regular phone.
    I will get the iphone and my wife won't
    what is the best free phone to get from att ?
    and how can i do this in apple retail store? they don't sell other phones right?
    don't want to go to att store because they usually out of stock of iphone...

    I would say your best bet is to go to an apple store and buy your iphone. Apple stores do not carry any other AT&T phones, and AT&T stores do not have many free phones. Once you buy your phone register online with AT&T and add a line there, they have tons of free phones online and ship second day air.

  • Additional phone line for phone system

    Good Morning All,
    I recently purchased a BT Micro system phone system via eBay and it came with some handsets also.
    The phone system has dual line support.
    I already have one BT line for Broadband and calls (analogue) and I was wondering if it would be possible to order an additional auxilary line as I think they are known for the phone system to be able to make and recieve calls if one line is busy but still have it on the same circuit number as the current line.
    This is the phone system but without the phones, the one I bought from eBay came with phones: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BT-MICRO-TELEPHONE-SYSTEM-IP-PHONE-BROADBAND-AND-WIRELESS-ALL-IN-ONE-BOX-/...
    Hope this makes sense and I would appreciate some help on this.
    Many Thanks,
    Dominic.

    Hi john46,
    I tried to order one but an error message said I had to call 0800800150 because I already have a package with BT.
    I think auxiliary lines are business based to be honest so that may be why you hadn't heard of it.
    I know the difference between auxiliary lines and broadband talk. Auxiliary lines allow you to have two or more lines with the same number.
    So one main analogue line with a number and then another 1 or more auxiliary lines with the same number so that callers can get through if one line is busy. Some auxiliary lines don't allow calling features like 1471. A phone system I used presented the message sorry the service requested is not available, thank you for calling,please hang up when in tried to do 1471 on an auxiliary line instead of the main analogue line.
    Hope this explains auxilary lines to you a bit better.
    Best Wishes,
    Dominic

  • Drop navigation links to 2 lines for phone size

    Hi everyone, Happy Thursday (Or brain dead Thursday for me)!
    I'm working on a new "responsive" project.  Being a new project, I'm starting with the smallest width and working my way up.
    I have a simple navigation at the top of the page with six text "roll-over" links.
    On the smaller size (smart phone - 320px), I need to "wrap" the text links to 2 lines, then one line for all the rest of the larger sizes.  I also need to move a graphic that is directly below the links down to accomodate for the extra line, then back up again when the window size changes.  For some reason, I can't figure how to go about doing this.  Also, the navigation will be added to an existing HTML page when completed.
    My question is:
          How do I tell Edge to move the nav from two lines of text to one line (and move the graphic) when I hit a particular window size (media query)?
    I will have media queries set up in the CSS for the HTML portion of the page.  Could I simply "show/hide" a particular div, one with the two lines for the nav and one with one line using CSS, or is there a better way?
    If it is possible to do the "show/hide" div idea, would it be better (or even possible) to make different navigation animations for each media queries (where needed)?
    Sorry about my temporary (I hope!) "brain dead" condition :-)
    James

    OK, I thought I'd post this for others trying to get Edge Commons to work for their projects.
    When you go to the Edge Commons "tutorial" video:
    http://tv.adobe.com/watch/create-like-crazy-with-adobe-edge/flexible-l ayouts-using-adobe-edge-animate-and-the-edge-commons-library/
    http://tv.adobe.com/watch/create-like-crazy-with-adobe-edge/flexible-layouts-using-adobe-e dge-animate-and-the-edge-commons-library/(Great video and a "must watch" for anyone contemplating using the Edge Commons plugin) They now have a download link for the Edge Commons code files!
    Keep in mind, however, that their example is using static images for each size mentioned (300px, 600px, 900px).
    If you have "animated" symbols, these will not work as intended!  They WILL play each symbol depending on the screen resolution (300px, 6000px, 900px - Or whatever you set them to) but only the first image!
    Fortunately, the solution below is simple!
    1. Follow their instructions for setting Edge Commons up:
    Under the "Open actions for stage" option ( left of the "Stage" Action in the timeline, click on the {} symbol), add the following code to the 2 options mentioned below:
    resize:
    if (EC) {
              EC.applyAdaptiveLayout(sym, "adaptiveContainer");
    compositionReady:
    yepnope({
              load: "http://simonwidjaja.github.com/EdgeCommons/live/EdgeCommons-0.4.0.js",
              //load: "http://localhost/Aktiv/Intern/EdgeCommons/GitHub/master/sprint/EdgeCommons-Sprint-0.0.4.js",
              //load: "http://localhost/Aktiv/Intern/EdgeCommons/GitHub/master/live/EdgeCommons-0.4.0.js",
              callback: function() {
                        EC.setAdaptiveLayouts( [300, 600, 900] );
                        EC.applyAdaptiveLayout(sym, "adaptiveContainer");
    2. For each symbol you are playing, add the following code the to  "creationComplete" action:
    sym.play(); (or just click on the "play" button to the right)!
    That's It!
    Everything should work just fine for each screen size you added in the "compositionReady" action!
    Hope that helps!

  • CUPS - Question about associating users to lines on phones

    Hello all,
    We are in the process of migrating to an Exchange e-mail environment and at the same time trying to get everything ready for a CUPC deployment. The CUPS server was set up some many months ago, but still has not been put into production so we are finding things that have been missed and need to be cleaned up before deploying to end users.
    The main issue I am facing right now is that not all users were associated to line appearances on their phones. I would have to say maybe 35% of them are set up properly and the other 65% are not associated at all. I am looking for a way to export all the line appearances that do not have users associated to them, but so far I have had no luck. The closest I have gotten is going to Bulk Administration>Users>Line Appearance>Export Line Appearance, but this only shows users that are associated, which is not what I need.
    Does anyone know of a way to get this in bulk format? Or if there are multiple exports I can compare with to get what I am looking for?
    Also side question: Does anyone know what the Owner User ID on the phone itself is needed for. All I find is that it is for CDR records.
    Any help is much appreciated!

    The bulk update of line appearances are  looking for the following headers at a minimum.
    User ID,Device,Directory Number,Partition
    The way i would do it is, use Bulk Admin>Phones>Export Phones>Specific Details of all the phones for which the line appearances needs to be updated and add the User ID field and import it back in. Once you export it out, you will have to do some kind of modification of the data to get it in the right format.
    The Owner User ID field is used for Mobility option, this field is used when there is a mobility softkey enabled and this User ID is what controls whose Mobility is turned off and on.

  • Compatible land line cordless phone for HH5?

    Hi,
    I want to upgrade from HH1.5 to HH5.  I'm currently using the BB softphone with the HH1.5, so that will have to be binned as it's not compatible with HH5.  My question is what type of cordless land line phone can I use with the HH5?  Would the 8500 or something similar be OK?  I have 1 master socket and 2 extensions which are about 10 years old.
    Regards
    Ellislivy
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    You can use any landline phone, as the HH5 is only a modem/router, and has no phone circuitry inside.
    You can still use your BT hub phones in conjunction with the HH5, provided you keep the HH1.5 as well.
    This diagram will show you how.
    http://forumhelp.dyndns.info/phones/hh3phone.jpg
    If your HH1.5 is still working fine, I would keep using it, as the HH5 does not really offer many advantages, and if you still have the extra Broadband Talk phone number, you will lose it if you change your broadband contract, or ask for a new hub.
    The HH1, 1.5 and 2.0, still give better wireless range than the newer home hubs.

  • I want my land line, home phone as my caller ID, h...

    This is 2012.  I'm out of work and money.  I only have a home phone with local service only.  I have to use Skype for my 1 or 2 long distance calls per month.  I'd like my home phone to be my caller ID.  I can't receive txt messages that way, but I'd at least have a return number for those to see who it is.  Everyone on the internet from google, youtube and "you name it", wants a cell phone number and I can't even afford anything, whether it's a cell phone or an "unused" extra number for a fee.  I can't tell you how frustrating it is to have businesses hang up on me because they think they are being pranked because of what they see on their screens when I call.  In Los Angeles, two miles from my house can be a long distance call.  Please Help those of us that are sincerely poor!!!!  It would only take you 2 seconds longer to call my house for me to verify my land line.  I would even be happy if you only did it for me.  Please quit being so greedy and realize some of us are at "Rock bottom".  In other words,  no matter what, I'm not paying for anything else.  Even though I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place, not one more penny is being spent on anything.  I have none.  I already possess a return number and I'd like to use that one.

    I have the same question for a different reason. Your text implies that we can use our land line numbers for Caller ID but the implementation doesn't allow it. Why not? i have a cell phone but don't want most people knowing or using it because it's rarely on and each call is separately charged. I want any callbacks to be on my land line. How do I make Caller ID show my land line number?

  • How do I set up a ringmaster on my fax 2140 so that I can use the same line for phone

     I have  the HP 2140 Fax Machine and have always had a separate line for the fax.  Now, I have only one line which is
    to be used for both the telepone and my fax machine.  This will save me approx. $200 per year.

    cannot get my fax machine to except the drpd distintive ring. went to change the print cartg. and screwed something up?     Can you help?

  • Any way to switch phone numbers between phone lines....

    I have 2 phones under my name, 1 of which has the unlimited data plan, which I currently have suspended because I don't use. I would like to upgrade my other phone because the phone I have is giving me problems, but I do not want to pay ridiculous fees and such for the data plan.  Is there any way to transfer the phone number from the phone I use to the other phone, so that I may have the unlimited plan, and also cancel the unused phone? Thanks.

    There a couple of different issues you'll want to consider here:
    1) If you use the upgrade from the line you want to cancel, you will start a new contract on that line and owe a $175 ETF if you purchase a basic phone or a $350 ETF if you purchase a smartphone.  The contract is tied to the specific line (and phone
    number), so you can't move it around.  If you upgrade a line, you must keep it for 24 months or pay an Early Termination Fee.
    2) Your unlimited data package is tied to the line and phone number that is currently on.  That means that if you want to use the unlimited package, you'll have to activate your new phone on that line and number.  You won't be able to get the unlimited data on the other number on your plan.

  • Wireless routers and surge protector with phone line ports

    I cannot connect to the internet when I use my surge protector phone line ports.  I have the line from the wall in the in port and the other one in the out port but status light on modem doesn't light up and no connection to internet.  Is it my surege protector?  Do I need to do something else?

    I assume the system works fine if you bypass the surge protector.   I will also assume that you are not plugging in your DSL phone line on the "in port" and then plugging in an ethernet wire on the "out port" of the surge protector.  Your surge protector cannot convert a DSL phone line signal into an ethernet signal.  This is the job of the DSL modem.
    Assuming you are going through the surge protector phone line to phone line, or ethernet wire to ethernet wire, then it means that either the surge protector is broken or you have a bad wire.  Try a different wire.  If that doesn't work, return the surge protector.
