No more network connection

Hello,
recently -- after checking the arch front page for important notes and troubles I might encounter -- I ran a full system upgrade, which I do roughly every two weeks. As usual, I expected a flawless update without problems. First, it seemed to be like that.
However, after rebooting I realized I had no more network connection. I have used a simple, wired network setup.
Now I'm a little embarrassed, because with the help of the wiki I was able to maintain my arch box for years now and also had no problem with the "bigger" changes in the last few years, but now I'm clueless.
I did go through the networking sections in the beginners' guide, but to no avail unfortunately.
What information can I provide here so that anyone could help me?
Something that seems not important to me, but maybe I am wrong about that: I uninstalled the kdeplasma-networkmanager package right after the system upgrade.
For the time being, I do not need wireless connections or something, I only want to establish a wired internet connection.
I can provide logs and everything, but do not know which ones are relevant. Can you please help?
(Other than networking, everything worked fine after the upgrade)

Right after rebooting it shows as follows:
[root@argos ~]# dhcpcd -d
dhcpcd[2955]: sending commands to master dhcpcd process
dhcpcd[2955]: send OK
Then I killed the dhcpcd process, restart it and repeat:

  • 2008 r2 hyper-v guest with static IP always looses network connectivity after every restart - no problem with DHCP

    Hello,
We are running 2008 R2 domain with one physical DC and other running in VM on Hyper-V host (2008 R2 Standard). The host has 4 NICs and is configured to use one physical NIC for itself (management) and the hyper-v guest is configured to use another dedicated/physical
NIC (through microsoft virtual switch) just for itself.
I noticed that after setting the hyper-v guest with a static IP address all works fine only until guest restart. When the guest boots up the IP address is still configured correctly in IPv4 properties, but there is no network connectivity at all and in fact
the guest shows running APIPA config in ipconfig /all output. That situation continues until I remove the virtual NIC from hyper-v guest, remove the virtual switch from dedicated NIC on host and then reconfigure it (using same settings as they were). very
    annoying.
For time being I switched the virtual DC (problematic hyper-v guest) to a DHCP IP and configured DHCP server (running on physical DC machine, not on hyper-v host) to store a reservation for the hyper-v guest so it always gets the same "static"
    IP configuration.
Is there some kind of a problem/bug with using static IP on (2008 R2) hyper-v guests? is there a hotfix for static IP config in hyper-v guest environment?
both 2008 R2 OSes (host and guest) are up to date with all updates (synced with Microsoft, not WSUS).

OK, I'm not at the office now, but took my time to test out the restart scenarios on problematic virtual guest remotely.
No dice, same as it was, everything works fine after guest has IP configured in DHCP mode (IP reservation of 192.168.1.5 for specific MAC address) and it doesn't work after restart in static IP mode (same address, works before restart of guest).
I also took "arp -a" outputs at each step from host server and that was always saying there is only a single host (192.168.1.5 = VDC = problematic virtual guest) assigned to that IP address and always with same MAC, so that pretty much rules out
ARP/MAC troubles and no issues with switches/routers getting spoofed. Problem is most likely with the virtual guest (WS2008R2) or within the host running same OS.
    Here are outputs:

On Monday I will install more test guests in Hyper-V host (WS2008R2), in variety of flavors like 7x64, 8.1x64, ws2012r2, and see if they show similar problems with static IP configuration when utilizing a dedicated NIC from host server.
Don't get me wrong, I can live with virtual DC running on DHCP IP reservation (which is based on MAC), because the virtual DC pretty much requires a physical PDC (hosting also DHCP in my network) to be present for safety reasons ... however I prefer a static
IP configuration on all servers, hence my question and surprise why it doesn't work.

  • My iPhone5 has terrible Network connection. It rarely works at the normal speed-if ever. I usually get 3G or 1x network dozens of times a day. My phone also gets pretty hot when i try to use any data for more than a few minutes.

My iPhone5 network connection has been terrible for the past week and a half. My phone is no more than a year old so I don't see why it would be a problem with the phone. When I try to use the internet or look for apps or anything like that, anything that uses data really, it takes FOREVER if it even loads! Most of the time it won't even load. My network changes from LTE(which doesn't work well) to 3G(which works even less) and then to 1x(which basically doesn't work at all). This happens dozens of times a day. It's getting quite irritating. I've tried turning my phone off and letting it sit for a while and that does nothing. I'd really prefer NOT to restore my phone. What is the deal??!

Are you broadcasting your SSID? Sometimes this can cause a problem connecting. Is this Cisco router running any turbo modes or special preparatory protocols.
There are no know issues with Wi-Fi connectivity except on first connection; and the chance of 2 devices having the exact same issue is very unlikely. This sounds like something to do with your wireless router.
Have you tried to connect to another Wi-Fi hotspot elsewhere?
Do you have any 2.4 GHz wireless phones or security system that could interfere with connection?

  • Does using more than one apple tv affect network connection

    My AppleTV has upgraded.
Since then the network connection has been very fragile
I have restarted the apple tv, the tv, and all the devices.
I have also restarted the modem.
    Nothing is working.
I have two apple tvs; so i am now wondering whether having both of them working might affect the network connection.
Or is there any other reason for such a fragile connection?  and what can be done to get a more stable connection?

Yes. I've been doing this. We have a family HP laptop with 750 GB of storage that is our library. One TV in the Den and one in the Family Room. Both have AppleTV's. I've had no problem simultaneously streaming to each AppleTV from the library computer. They both are synced to that PC as well ... mainly for photos. I originally was using my existing wireless-g network and this worked well. I recently put in a couple of Airport extreme units and they work great in wireless-n but I'm not sure it was really necessary ... I just wanted the AppleTVs to be able to stream and sync at their max possible speeds to minimize the possibility of slowing down of our network. The Airport Extreme's may have been overkill but they work really well ... easy to setup and we've now got a very strong wireless signal all over the house. Are you considering multiple AppleTV's?
A nice benefit of multiple AppleTVS is that you always have a backup remote control in case the kids (or maybe I)get absent minded.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8000 A809a - network connection does not work

    Hi,
I just purchased the Officejet Pro 8000 (without wireless). Printer works great when connected and installed via USB, but network connection is just ... awkward. Meaning it doesn't want to work
Question: when I connect the printer via ethernet, the printer should automatically obtain an IP-adress from my router's DHCP-server, right?
Well that doesn't happen here. I printed the network configuration page several times, each time it states that the printer has the IP 169.254.90.4 with 255.255.0.0 as subnet. My local network is 192.168.2.0 with 255.255.255.0 as subnet. So the connection to the printer cannot work. Why doesn't the printer automatically obtain the network config of my network and how can I change this behavior?
Any help would be very appreciated.

Sometimes DSL providers have more control over the router than the printer likes.
    - Unplug the telephone line and printer's Ethernet from the router.
    - Turn the power off on the router, wait 30 seconds, then turn the power back on.
    - Connect Ethernet between the printer and router.
    - Now find the IP address of the printer (it should be on the self-test printout), type it into a browser.
    - In screen you will find a Networking Tab, then on the left Wireless, then the IPv4 Tab.
    - On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). If you know what that is, set an IP outside that range but no higher than 255 (the last number in the address).
    - Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
    - Use the router's IP address for the gateway and the first DNS (leave the second blank).
    - Finally, plug in the phone line and test.

User gets "This network connection does not exist" when she tryes to log on to Terminal Server (2008 R2)
I got more than 100 users. Shes the only one getting is. We tried four computers (All Windows 7 Pro)
Nothing useful in event viewer to mention.

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Does that user able to login previously?
From your comment, it seems that there is some permission issue with that user. As you have checked that user with different system also. Please check that user is added under “Remote Desktop User” local group and also allowed “Allow log on through
Remote Desktop service” permission under group policy. Also please check that when user tries to login it uses “Domainname\Username” format.
In addition for a try, also check by disabling firewall on one particular system.
To add users and groups to the Remote Desktop Users group by using Local Users and Groups snap-in:
    1.  Click Start > Administrative Tools, Open Computer Management.
    2.  In the console tree, click the Local Users and Groups node.
    3.  In the details pane, double-click the Groups folder.
    4.  Double-click Remote Desktop Users, and then click
    Add.
    5.  In the Select Users dialog box, click Locations to specify the search location.
    6.  Click Object Types to specify the types of objects you want to search for.
    7.  Type the name you want to add in the Enter the object names to select (examples) box.
    8.  Click Check Names.
When the name is located, click OK.

  • Error: Network Connection Timed Out

I am beyond ****** off at the moment. My iTunes was working perfectly until two weeks ago, and now it insists my Network Connection Timed Out when I try to access the store or update podcasts.
It can't be my internet connection, because as you can see, I'm able to access the internet. For some reason it's this specific copy of iTunes (7.5), because the iT7 downstairs works perfectly. Of course, since Apple are so fecking stingy, I can't add a few files from there without wiping everything off my iPod.
    So here's the run-down:
I'm using a Dell Inspiron 8600, Windows XP, browsing with Firefox and attempting to load the latest podcasts onto my iPod Shuffle. I don't give a toss about downloading songs, I just want to update my podcasts without having to search the net for the source file.
I ran the Network Diagnostics and it insists the Conneciton to iTunes failed, suggesting I adjust my cable (i don't have one - it's wireless) or flush my dns settings (which i've done several times).
I found a thread on these forums from March and tried every solution:
    - uninstalling and reinstalling itunes... doesn't work.
    - opening Internet Explorer 7, then opening iTunes... doesn't work.
    - searching for a host file and removing the phobos apple line... doesn't work. The phobos line wasn't there
    - using itunes 7... doesn't work.
    - flushing my dns... doesn't work.
    - turning off my firewall.... doesn't work.
    - avoiding clashes with mcafee or zone alarm... doesn't work, cos i don't use those
I think it's appalling that I've tried all this, and i'm still no closer to knowing what the problem is, and that Apple failed to respond to any of the other people's problems in the earlier thread. And that i spent about ten minutes signing up to this fecking forum just to ask for help. Surely support should be readily available to anyone!
Can anybody help me? In the other thread, people found alternative sites for buying music, but has anyone got an alternative, ipod-compatible podcasting program?

I have this same problem. Here's what I can add to this discussion - iTunes accessed the iTunes store a day or two ago. I have a home network and can access the internet from all of the networked PCs. I can access the iTunes store from all of the networked PCs using Internet Explorer. I can access the iTunes store from my laptop iTunes. I can not access the iTunes store from my workstation PC. I get the same "network connection timed out" message. I downloaded and installed a new (same version) of iTunes on the workstation PC. both the laptop and the workstation are running the same OS (Windows XP SP2), both are Dell computers, both are accessing the internet via a wired connection to the same switch and the same router. All other internet connections work fine.
What's different? In the last couple of days my Workstation lost access to a network printer. I worked with HP for over an hour to re-establish network connection to that printer with no success. I have access to the same networked printer from my laptop.
The IP address for the network printer is identical to what it was when it was installed - HP suggests looking for a change to the IP address. I made no changes to the workstation PC, the home network or the router, ISP, or internet connection.
But, it seems to me that the loss of access to the HP networked printer and the inability of iTunes to access the iTunes store are related.
I also called Apple and attempted to get technical support. I own 4 iPods with 104 Gbs of storage on them, I own 1900 CDs and iTunes has 36.5 days of music loaded into it.
I purchased Apple Care on all of the iPods - it's expired and they never warned me. They want to charge me $29 to fix this problem - even though I no longer can purchase music via the iTunes Store, so I need to pay $29 in order to gain access to the iTunes store to spend more money with Apple?! Not a smart business decision. I own a few other PC based music programs and more than willing to transfer all of it out of iTunes and into one of the other products. I'll sell all the iPods on eBay and purchase other MP3 players if I must.
But, I suspect the problem is (1) Apple doesn't have a documented answer to this problem, (2) the level 1 techs that answer the support phone are clueless - they just e-mailed me the same article from the Apple website that I told them I read and does not apply to my problem, and obviously does not resolve my problem. (3) Apple is not setup to resolve this type of problem with their level 1 support, and they can't escalate the problem without charging us.
I'll try again on Monday, may even purchase Apple Care first and then use that. The Apple Care Tech Support is typically better than the free level 1 call in support.
Suggestions, comments, etc. are all appreciated.

  • The Game Center is "unable to load data due to network connectivity issues or errors".

The Game Center is "unable to load data due to network connectivity issues or errors".
My internet is fine: all other apps that do not rely on the Game Center work, as does my browser and other online functions; additionally, a friend's iPhone connects to his Game Center perfectly while he is sitting next to me.
Closing the Game Center app and then reopening it is ineffective. Opening the options for the Game Center in the settings, logging out of my Apple ID, then logging back in, and then reopening the Game Center is ineffective. Opening the options for the Game Center in the settings, logging out of my Apple ID, then reopening the Game Center app and logging back in from there is ineffective.
This issue has gone on for more than a month, and so the phone has gone through all variations of "turn it off then back on again, refresh the system, etc etc" that are the basic first suggestions for trouble shooting.
One game app, which required a Game Center profile to launch, stopped working entirely, and would return a message saying something like "connect to the Game Center". I eventually deleted it to free up space. Other games which can be linked to the Game Center to connect with friends simply fail to link, returning "Game Center unavailable". This is the aspect that is currently bothering me the most: I cannot play games with friends unless the app can also link to Facebook and connect to friends from there.
When I open the Game Center, I see the following screen. The bubbles float gently, and it seems as if I had the ability to update my "status". However doing so results in a message that has vanished once the app is reopened.
Upon tapping Games, either the bubble from the main screen or the option on the ribbon at the bottom, the following screen appears. Clicking on Challenges shows a message that achievements must be viewed to issue a challenge. Clicking achievements results in a message that games must be connected (and from my friend's phone I know I have several apps that should appear).
Upon tapping friends, it does show me a list of suggested friends pulled from Facebook, but attempting to send a friend request results in the following screen. After accepting the error box, the "send" button for the request is grayed out and unavailable regardless of adding or deleting friends and/or an accompanying message.
In short, the Game Center is completely unresponsive for no discernible reason, and this problem began with no warning and is now long term. Though my iPhone is older (a 4s), my friend's is even older (a regular 4) and works fine.

I am having the very same problem on my iPad running ios 7. All is fine on my iPhone it opens no problem - this is running on ios 8. I wish they would fix it.

  • '"Connection Failed" : The server "rrnas01" may not exist or it is unavailable at this time. Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection, and then try again' message

'"Connection Failed" : The server "rrnas01" may not exist or it is unavailable at this time. Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection, and then try again' message keeps displaying whenever I try to open any Adobe CS5 applications (except for Adobe Acrobat Pro). It displays until I click "OK" about 15-20 times or so and then will finally let my program open.
I have tried deleting files within my Library/Preferences folder and turning off/deleting login items within my system preferences as other forums suggested but nothing happened. Spending 3.5 hours on the phone with Adobe and completely uninstalling and then reinstalling the entire CS5 Master Collection didn't work either.
Also, it may be helpful to know that my programs worked fine for about three weeks then when we got internet and changed the password (the join, not the adminstrative password) with the wireless network "ScubaSteve" (which I've used with no problems at my old apartment) it started acting up. I have never seen "rrnas01" before so I don't know at all where it came from. I also installed the free 30 day trial of Suitcase Fusion 3 recently, but thinking that could also be the cause I have uninstalled it, and still no help.
Please help me! And please keep in mind I don't know all the computer lingo that a lot of the people in these forums seem to know. Thanks in advance for ny help you can give me.

It may not be possible .. there is a major bug between Mountain Lion and the TC where the TC disk goes off the radar of the computer.
Lion is also affected but not as badly.
7.6.4 seems worse than earlier firmware.. so back to 7.6.1 or 7.5.2 if that is possible.
Obviously that is not a solution for a later Gen5 TC.
Reset to factory after the firmware downgrade. .use all network names that are short, no spaces and pure alphanumeric.
If the TC is the main router set the dhcp to a very short lease time.. eg 30min.. and see how it goes, or try a longer lease like 99days.
I prefer the very short lease but response has been mixed.
Use ethernet not wireless.. ethernet is always more reliable and stable than wireless.
And last .. a nightly electric timer that powers off every night at midnight for 1min.. would not be the first device we have suggested a fix that amounts to beat the unit to the punch by forcing it to reboot since it is unstable.

  • Network Connection Was Refused - PLEASE help me this time...

To be perfectly honest, I'm quite irritated. I want answers. And if there is no answer, I want someone to tell me such. I've posted three times before, twice on someone else's topic, and once on my own. This is my last ditch effort. PLEASE help me. I really enjoy the use of your product, and I don't want to give up on it.
Many people are having issues with their network connection. I know I'm not the only one. Some diagnostics say the connection to iTunes works, but for some reason still won't open the music store. In my case, it says it isn't.
I went to my parents' house this holiday and stole their broadband high speed internet connection, hoping that the new connection might make iTunes work. Nope. So now I'm fresh out of ideas.
Here is the information I posted on an earlier post below. PLEASE help me answer my question. I'm really missing my iTunes. It's been a long time since I've had it, and there are a bunch of songs I plan to download if I am able to get it back. Thank you so much!
I downloaded the newest version of iTunes, without realizing that there were so many problems with it. The installation went off without a hitch, and it was able to open up my library. However, whenever I try to access the music store, the message "iTunes could not connect to the Music Store. The network connection was refused. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, then try again" appeared. I tried redownloading it, but that didn't solve the problem. I got frustrated, and finally was able to download 7.01. That didn't work either. So I downloaded the older version that I used to have. The same error message appeared. NOW I'm mad, because I can't even get the older version back. I want my older version back... I never had a problem with your products before, but right now I'm slowly losing faith. PLEASE help me.
I can't run a diagnostics on my network connection anymore, but I had posted my first diagnostics on the old post, referencing back to when I was still trying to fix the newest version. I'll post the diagnostics below the post.
I have a wireless connection, since I live in an apartment complex right now. I didn't have the same connection type when I first downloaded iTunes a year or more ago, but I was able to work iTunes under this connection before I uploaded.
Please help me. I want my music store back.

The log is huge so I invite you to check out the 'FailedDistributionLog.log' log in the 'FailedDistributionError5' folder of my OneDrive.
    The hierarchy is simple:
single primary site with a local SQL installation, management point role (among other roles)
five other servers acting as the distribution points: 1 local, 4 remote
Something has changed recently because distribution was working fine up until I believe this week.  I suspect some GPO is in place (or not in place) which is causing trouble, but I have not been successful in confirming that or isolating the issue to
anything other than "it affects my 2008 R2 servers".
    What I've checked so far:
the site server (2008 R2 Standard) has no issues during distribution to itself
Local DP win7dp01 has no issues during distribution (this is a Windows 7 DP just for testing/proof of concept purposes)
Remote DP 2003dp01 (Server 2003) has no issues during distribution
    Remote DP's 2008dp01, 2008dp02 & 2008dp03 (all 2008 R2 Standard) are producing the errors above
Site System Installation Account is set to 'Use the site server's computer account to install this site system'
All servers are joined to the same domain
All servers are members of an SCCM Servers AD security group
All servers have the above SCCM Servers AD security group added to the local administrators group
As part of troubleshooting, I've added the Site Server by name (domain\servername) to the local administrators group, in addition to the AD security group which its already a member of, to the three 2008 DP's that are failing.  (The Windows 7 and 2003
DP's don't have this setup because they seem to be working fine with the AD security group.)
The firewall is disabled [via GPO] on all these servers & DP's
The ADMIN$ share is available & accessible on the three 2008 DP's
The three 2008 DP's have NO_SMS_ON_DRIVE.SMS only on the root drive (not the data drive)
The three 2008 DP's have Data drives which house the SCCMContentLib, SMSPKG$, SMS_DP$, SMSPKGSIG$ & RemoteInstall directories.
I checked the Share & NTFS permissions for the SCCMContentLib, SMSPKG$, SMS_DP$, SMSPKGSIG$ & REMINST shares, and local Administrators have full access/full control
The three 2008 DP's have at least 100GB free; this package is under 1MB.
The file 2 files in this package (one XML & one CMD) have very short file name lengths
The files in this package are not currently in use.  (I've edited, renamed & moved them to be sure)
RSOP of the server confirms firewall is disabled (I checked wf.msc manually anyway)
Under Component Status, SMS_DISTRIBUTION_MANAGER is showing critical errors for the three 2008 DP's.  I've copied up the relevant entries from the log up to my OneDrive as 'SMS_DISTRIBUTION_MANAGERLog.log'.
In short there are two error codes:
    2323 with a description of:
Distribution Manager failed to connect to the distribution point.
Possible cause: Distribution Manager cannot access the distribution point machine because of access permissions issues.
Solution: Make sure that the site server machine account or Site System Installation account has administrative permissions on the distribution point machine.
Retry Interval is 5 minutes, number of retries left is 3.
    2302 with a description of:
Distribution Manager failed to process package "My (Package)" (package ID = PRI000D9).
Possible cause: Distribution Manager does not have access to either the package source directory or the distribution point.
Solution: Verify that distribution manager can access the package source directory/distribution point.
Possible cause: The package source directory contains files with long file names and the total length of the path exceeds the maximum length supported by the operating system.
Solution: Reduce the number of folders defined for the package, shorten the filename, or consider bundling the files using a compression utility.
Possible cause: There is not enough disk space available on the site server computer or the distribution point.
Solution: Verify that there is enough free disk space available on the site server computer and on the distribution point.
Possible cause: The package source directory contains files that might be in use by an active process.
Solution: Close any processes that maybe using files in the source directory. If this failure persists, create an alternate copy of the source directory and update the package source to point to it.
I stood up 1 more DP on a 2003 servers which completed successfully.  Its already received content error-free.  I'll enable PXE & verify that works before standing up my final 2003 DP.  I don't have any other 2008 servers I could test
this on which complicates this a bit.
Before I go standing up more [2008] servers, what else could I be testing/validating?

Tried to redistribute again this early morning and it looks like many packages succeeded but not all.  For instance a .NET package I deployed reached 7 of 8 DP's, Dell CCTK reached 5 of 8 etc..
So seemingly by magic some DP's like some packages but not others.  I quit.
distmgr log shows access denied errors as before:

  • How do I stop InDesign from trying to create a network connection?

I have a huge problem, either with InDesign or Apple I am not sure.
Basically when I bring my computer home from work every time I open InDesing it tries to connect to a server and I get this error message: the server XXX.local may not exist or is unavailable at this time. Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection, and then try again.
Why is InDesign trying connect to a server? Photoshop and Illustrator work perfectly well and function as a normal program. Indesign has no reason to do this as it should need to work through a server.
I get this error message and once I have dismissed it, it comes back after a few seconds and then stalls my computer again.
I really hope that someone can give me some idea of what is happening because the support in my country have not been at all helpful. I am asking this same question on the Adobe forums.

I get no messages from ID for InDesign or anything else and I am running CS5. I can't install Little Snitch because it is a work computer and my IT won't let me me do it. They have mentioned reinstalling it but our IT department haven't said anything more than that and frankly I don't think they would register as an issue that needs fixing as such.
The drive it is looking for is the timecapsule.local which I have turned off and on again and nothing has helped.

  • IPhone shuts off when I use the internet on the 3G network & I can't upgrade/restore because of network connection error. Any Help?

A few months ago, while on the 3G network, my iPhone 3GS starting turning off randomly when I was using safari or an online app and the battery was somewhere around 5-20%. When this happened the only way to get the phone back on was by fully charging it which sometimes took a few hours even. It wasn't a big deal at the time because it was infrequent and while the phone was at a low battery %. However, in the past few months, around the time I upgraded to iOS 5.1 it started happened more and more often and at higher and higher battery percentages. It is now at a point where my phone shuts off every time I connect to the 3G network regardless of what my battery life is. I have called Rogers several times to complain about this and I have been told it is because of the battery for the most part but I don’t buy it; the problem has got to be more significant than the battery alone because I can listen to music and send texts at anytime and fully use the internet when I am connected to Wi-Fi. I more recently talked to someone in tech support from Rogers who said my phone cannot support the iOS 5.1 software and that is why it is crashing. They also asked if my phone was heating up more now than in the past and it is. They said this was further evidence that my phone was couldn't handle the new software and was basically on overload.  I was told to the best solution was to "Back Up" my iPhone then do a full "Restore". Here is where my next problem comes along. I cannot "Restore" my iPhone without doing an upgrade and every time I attempt to "Upgrade & Restore" an error message pops up that says "There was a problem downloading the software for the iPhone "...". The network connection timed out/was reset. -Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, or try again later". I have followed all of the protocol that is readily available online to address this problem but still no success. I disabled my firewall and anti-virus programs, I have ensured my connection is active and stable, I have upgraded to the newest iTunes, I have uninstalled iTunes and all apple programs in the correct order then reinstalled iTunes, I have disabled my DNS cache. Nothing works.
If you have any advise whatsoever please share as it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

I was actually able to upgrade to the newest software, iOS 5.1.1 without connecting to my computer/iTunes but rather directly through my phone when I was home on Wi-Fi. After the upgrade I plugged my phone into a different USB port at the back of my computer and was able to do a full restore. I really don't think the USB port had anything to do with it because I use the same front USB port all the time with my external hard drive and other devices wuth no problems at all; regardless of what the actual solution was, I am now able to connect to iTunes and upgrade/restore without any problems so that half of my problem is resolved.
I have yet to leave my house since doing the upgrade/restore so I am not sure if the problem with my phone crashing when I use the interent on the 3G is still an issue. I will test it today and tomorrow and give you an update.
    Thanks

  • Could not sign in to facetime, network connection error message.

Hi, I have Macbookpro running snowleopard OS X 10.6.8.  I purchased facetime 1.0.2  from the app store and am having a problems trying to sign in.  I keep getting a message to check with network connection.  I have facetime on my ipod touch 5th generation that came with it and was able to use it.  I think one can use facetime on more than one device with their account.  My itunes account says i have one item waiting to download but i don't know exactly what that item is or if i'll be charged for it.  Could that be the facetime app i purchased but needs to be downloaded?  Any ideas will be appreciated as i will continue to see how i can get it to work, thanks.
