No sound after installing Media Player
My husband installed Adobe Media Player last Friday and now we have no sound from any application - all cables and speakers have been checked and re-seated multiple times :-) Device manager says devices are functioning correctly, but Directx Diagnostics produces Errors (code is Ox80004005(Generic Failure).
Could this be a conflict with Adobe Media Player? Does anyone know how I can fix the problem?
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Pam
please reinstall your sound card driver

Have no sound after installing flash player 11.3.300.262. Working fine with flash player 11.2.202.232
hello, unfortunately this seems to be a bug in adobes flash plugin 11.3. please refer to the following forum entry on how to handle the issue or report the problem with your system details to adobe.

<font face="Times New Roman" size="2">?Quote from windows website ?If you have a Creative ZEN device, see http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player//readme.aspx#RollingbacktoapreviousversionofthePlay er Read the ?Rolling back to a previous version of the Player? instructions (by the way windows website is even willing to address the problems with creatives products. And they offer possible solutions)
*Some people said this was all you needed to do but it did not work for me.
2. I uninstalled every program which mentioned creative.
a. Click my computer
b.click Add / Remove programs
c. Find anything that is made by creative and uninstall (or if you hate creative as much as me just look for anything that says creative or might hint at being a creative product)
3.Go into My Computer / Program Files? and delete the folder named ?creative?
4.Click ?Start? Click ?run? type in ?MSCONFIGOK? on the tabs click ?Services? then click on ?manufacturer? and uncheck anything that says Creative, click ?service? and also uncheck anything which mentions creative? if you think it has to do with creative technologies ltd. *RESTART*
Tried to load firmware again... ?Nothing
5. Installed old software from ?creative zen touch? & ?Creative Media Source? from the Creative Zen Touch CD. On both just did the full install. They congratulated me on my purchase of my zen touch! They could have?congratulated me on burning 250$. *Restarted
*THIS IS THE KEY*************
6. Download Microsoft media player 0 from some website, I used oldversion.com
http://www.oldversion.com/download.p...e4e5bbb7694ded?
7. I then updated windows media player ten... just updates for 0 I didn't install .
8. On this WINDOWS site http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...dme.aspx#57877 click on and read ?Issues with devices after removing Windows Media Player?. When you are done with the procedure of deleting and reinstalling your the portable device I plugged in my mp3 player and it recognized it's not a big shock because it recognized it as a zen touch before I deleted the drivers. So I got the new drivers it noticed it, just like other systems noticed, but this time the Creative horribly programmed firmware update recognized it. I will never buy another creative product again, probably most of you wont either. But I have already paid the money for this product so I plan on using it until the battery dies on me. Hope this helps!
Message Edited by diezentouch on 02-04-200709:47 PMP.S. Goodluck to all of you I dont know if I will check this again but it took me about 8 - 0 hours to fix. I tried to make it as descripti've as I could so I cant be of much more help. But feel free if you have other fixxes to add or questions

Zen Micro not recognised after installing Media Player 11 Bet
Can anyone help?
I've updated Windows Media Player 0 to version Beta 2 and now my Zen Micro (Firmware 2.2.02 Playforsure) isn't recognised anyway on my system.
I've tried to re-install the CD but this doesn't do anything. I've download all the updates I can find on Creative's website and that does nothing.
I can't even use the Zen Micro MTP exlorer as this has disappeared off my system.
I'm running Windows XP SP2.
HELP!The problem will be the same I would think because the issue is that the player is an older one, so WMP does not recognise it. Unless they change it in te full version, which is probably only a slim chance, you will still need to download the hotfix and the other update.
But if i were you i wait for the full version anyway, the Beta 2 is better but still far from perfect... -
After installing Flash Player, I lost sound on Youtube and other sites. How do I fix it? I still have sound on some apps.
To help troubleshoot we'll need the following system information:
Operating system
Browser
Flash Player version
When reporting issues with video or audio, it's also helpful to get your system hardware and driver details. Instructions for finding this information can be found here:
Windows
Mac
Finally, sometimes video and audio problems are caused at a lower level and not directly related to Flash Player. I recommend trying both of the links below to see how they perform. If the problem exists with both, then Flash Player is most likely not the culprit as the HTML5 video link does not use Flash Player when playing. You can verify the use of HTML5 by right clicking the HTML5 video and looking for the words "About HTML5" at the bottom of the context menu.
HTML5 video
Non-HTML5 video

Background audio after installing Flash Player 11
After installing Flash Player 11, I am getting unwanted background audio when I am connected to the Internet. Even though I may not be on any site at all, i still get info-mercials playing on my system, or sometimes the flash player fails. I am using Windows IE9 on a 64-bit system. Everything is enabled in my settings. Why are they releasing this product early when there is a known bug in it?
Sounds like you might have malware on your system. I'd recommend running Malwarebytes to make sure everything checks out.

Portege 3110ct has no sound after installing XP Pro
I'm a novice when it comes to laptops, so here is the problem: My 3110ct has no sound after installing XP Pro. Didn't have sound when I bought it with another operating system on, report says no sound device installed.
Does this mean I need to get a chip for the laptop or is it a driver I need & where can I find the part or the driver for this.
Please help.Usually if the sound driver was not installed you will get no sound but also a yellow exclamation mark should appear in the device manager.
If the sound card chip is damage I presume you will be not able to see the yellow exclamation belonging to the sound card in the device manager.
You bought this Portg as a second hand unit. Am I right?
So possibly the sound card is faulty.
The computer uses a ESS ES1978 (Maestro-2E) and ES1918 sound chip.
Check if you can find an XP sound driver in the internet. -

no sound after installing windows 8 on my hp 620 help
This question was solved.
View Solution.I cannot find your audio driver on HP's support page, but I was able to locate this one, which is the same driver as yours, just the most recent version. According to what is listed, it supports Windows 8. Give it a shot and let me know if it works for you.

BSOD 0x0A after installing vmware player
After installing VMware player (newest version, VMware-player-3.0.1-227600) I get a blue screen on the following boot, it BSOD:s even with safe mode. On selecting the last known good configuration the error goes away.
The error code is INTERNAL_POWER_ERROR (a0, IMAGE_NAME: ntkrnlmp.exe, BUCKET_ID: 0xA0_nt!PopExceptionFilter+65). Haven't seen many 0x0a errors before, googling it reveals some posts related to power supply or hibernation, but nothing related to installing vmware. Since my PSU should be of a good brand, and since the error still happens in conjuction with wmware player, it is what I suspect (haven't been using this win xp installation in about 9 months, since have been running on beta windows 7, but I don't recall having these errors before).
Obvious solution I can think of is to not install vmware player. It has nothing to do with the hardware. Mainly vmware's problem with your Win 7 beta.

So long sound after installing iTunes 7.7
Upgraded to iTunes 7.7. Had no issue with the download, installed just fine. Closed down iTunes and re-opened to ensure updates were correct. Had a window pop up stating, "iTunes has detected a problem w/ audio configuration. Audio/Video playback may not operate properly". This was immediately after the install of 7.7, iTunes was working properly on older version. Checked other media programs (Windows Media Player), nothing will play any audio or video files. Also tried re-booting, no luck. According to my system info, my sound card is not installed. Re-installing the sound card is separate issue, but issues of 7.7 causing this problem before? Any suggestions or tips to downgrade to older iTunes. I have a 2nd Gen. Nano if that makes a difference. (Never had issues before when upgrading versions.)
I ran disk utility from my Leopard DVD, repaired the disk. The sound worked upon restarting.

No sound after installing iTunes v5.0
After several frustrating hours, I managed to successfully install iTunes v5.0. Unfortunately, my machine no longer produces any sound when a music file is played on iTunes. In addition, there is no sound when files are played through Windows Media Player. Both media players indicate that the files are playing correctly. Ive checked all of the obvious fixes (ie. turning on the speakers). Any help would be great.
While waiting for my Apple Chat to begin I tried listening to a podcast and
the Apple Fairy must have visited my phone too because "suddenly" it
worked. I had tried 3 completely different podcasts so I know it wasn't an
issue with any one podcast. We'll see what happens.

No sound after installing Adobe Flash 11.7
After installing the new Adobe Flash Player 11.7 I have no sound.
I reinstalled, uninstalled and started the imac new but I find no solution.
When I'm starting the imac, I always heard the opening sound.
After searching and contacting the support with no results, I try to turn
up the volume at the source and connect the soundsystem again and
now can hear the music.
I think Adobe reduce the sound of the source at zero, and the imac
rest on the last position.
I'm right? Many Thanks in advance.Hello,
Long shot, but...
Open Audio Midi Setup in Applications>Utilities, see the input & output options & KHz setting there, some things will change it for their own use, then not set it back. -

NO SOUND AFTER INSTALLING WINDOWS 8.1
Hi, I'm hoping someone will be able to help. My sister has a compaq 58 laptop and after installing windows 8.1, now has no sound. The sound was there when 8.1 was installed but after logging off and logging back on again, the sound disappeared. We reinstalled windows 8.1 and same thing happened. We have run scans and got sound again but once again logging off and logging back on again, the sound disappeared, very frustrating.
The product code is DOX18ea#abu and serial number [edited Serial Number by Moderator]
help would be much appreciated.Devina, This seems to be a common problem with Windows 8.1. It does not save a working state when logging off. I was afraid to touch my pc when the AUDIO was in a working state. However Microsoft logged me off with no fear and did not save the working state. What a great "glutware" corp. Having said that when the AUDIO is working it appears to work great! Sure wish HP/MICROSOFT could get their act together. Can you say "BASE BAND" , "DSP", "FIR" ETC. Well they think they know the fancy stuff. Now if they could just get it to function for normal people. Can you say "KISS".
ham123 ps: just send it back!! for total care!!!
