No users showing in Profile Manager portal

OS 10.9.1, Server 3.0.1
Everything seems to be set up and running properly except that no users are showing in the Profile Manager portal.
Groups show proper numbers of users, but when looking for members they show nothing. The users pane indicates "no users."
Users can log in without problem. Appropriate settings are used by the computers, users, and groups.
Server.app and Workgroup Manager.app both show users and groups as expected.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Got fed up playing with settings. Decided to start over with Profile Manager.
In Server.app, Shut off Profile Manager.
In Terminal run as admin: /Applications/Server.app/Contents/ServerRoot/usr/share/devicemgr/backend/wipeDB .sh
resetting to default empty Profile Manager
In Server.app, restart Profile Manager.
Users available in the portal again.
Manually redo all settings needed.

  • (null) users listed in Profile Manager

While configuring Lion Server, I created and reset Open Directory several times as I experimented with different configurations.  As you can see from the attached image, it appears that this action has created (null) users in the profile manager user list.  These users do not show up in Open Directory when viewed via Workgroup Manager.  Does anyone know how to get rid of them?  Thanks in advance.

    Hi Mike,
And my problems have gotten worse because I ran the WipeDB tool and I have destroyed the Open Directory several times in an attempt to remove the null users, but now when I rebuild everything and start from "scratch" the Profile Manager page crashes regularly.
I even went so far as to rename the host name on the machine to see if the new Open Directory that it created would emerge in a new structure, but no luck.
The "Null" users no longer say "null null", now their entries just say "loading..." and they never load, probably because there is nothing TO load, just old dead record pointers somewhere in the Profile Manager.
I've hunted through the file system in command line trying to figure out where any of this data might be stored, but I haven't found anything I feel comfortable deleting yet. I'm facing a reformat of the disks and a re-installatoin of the OS if I can't figure out how to fix this.
How can I clean this up? Anyone have any idea?
    Thanks,
    Ralph

  • Is there an easier/more-automated way to create user settings in Profile Manager?

I'm setting up a Mavericks Server and am setting up the settings for each user within the Profile Manager. I'm finding somewhat tedious to have to enter all of the server and account information per service per user. Seeing that it knows the details of the server it's running on – and the user for whom I'm setting up the profiles, is there no automatic way to produce a settings bundle for each user? At the very least, the server hostname and username should be prefilled.

What settings are you setting in the profiles? You can set a general setting that is available to all users, and also create various device configurations and add devices to them. I personally have not found much use for user specific profiles within profile management.

  • Cant launch Profile Manager portal from Mountain Lion server

After a previous permissions issue, I created a brand new ML server and now cant access the Profile Manager portal from the server (or any machines on the network). The DNS settings look good because I'm able to ping both the host name and the ip address from other computers on the network. Has anyone else experienced this?
I tried to view the logs however the 'Profile Manager' logs are greyed out. Would any other log provide some information?

    Nelson -
Pretty much everything boiled down to DNS, firewalls and ports.  Unfortunately, I was never able to acertain which of the three items were causing this problem because we have a separate group who manages the network and firewall (plus a separate security team).  If I recall, once they focused on what it was I was trying to accomplish, most of the problems "magically" went away.
Is your reverse DNS working the way it's supposed to?  Ex:
    yourserver:~ login$ hostname
    yourserver.yourdomainname
    yourserver:~ login$ host yourserver.yourdomainname
    yourserver.yourdomainname has address 10.x.x.x
    yourserver:~ login$ host 10.x.x.x
    3.34.2.10.in-addr.arpa domain name pointer yourserver.yourdomainname
    yourserver:~ login$

  • Users added to Profile Manager not showing up in everyone group

So profile manager was working quite well until I made a change to the workgroup group.
I removed the password policy from the workgroup group and added a new group for the password policy so we could essentially still manage non user assigned iOS devices.
Now when I add a new user to the workgroup group on the server I have them login to the mydevices site so we can enroll the device and they can login but are immediately presented with:
"You do not have permission to access the page you were looking for. Contact your system administrator."
In troubleshooting the issue I noticed that new users being added are not showing up the in the everyone group which is preventing the users from having proper access. Prior to all this I could add a user and they would show up in everyone as intended.
    Any thoughts?

I'm not sure if this is the same issue, but I have a user in Server.app that is not showing up in Users group. She is listed in her sub-group, but I cannot add devices to her account. When I click on the arrow next to her name in the sub-group, it takes me to the Users list to the top user.
    Any thoughts?

  • Cannot view Profile Manager Portal

I can use some help here.  Clean install of 10.7 Loin + Server app.  Everything went fine.  The server (Mac Mini) is configured as an OD Master with these services running - Address book, iCal, File Sharing, Mail, VPN, Web and Profile Manager.   DNS checks out fine using the changeip commeand -
The names match.  There is nothing to change.
    dirserv:success = "success"
When I'm in Profile Manager and I click on "Visit user portal" I get Safari can't connect... I've downloaded and setup Apple's Push SSL's and configured a self signed SSL.  Everything looks like its in their correct place. I confirmed the Mini is online by surfing the www.  When I go into the web server module and click "View Server Web Site" I get the same message.
All other services seem to be working fine except for Web and Profile Manager.  I'm attaching three screen shots - 1) Safari 2) Console All Messages 3) Web Server Error Log.  Any ideas on what's going on? Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Craig
    Web Server Error Log

    I used this.
    Try this in Terminal.app:
    cd /etc/apache2/sites
sudo -s # become admin--you will have to enter your password here
    rm 0000_any_443_.conf
    cp 0000_any_80_.conf.default 0000_any_80_.conf
    cp virtual_host_global.conf.default virtual_host_global.conf
exit # go back to being a normal user
Then go back to Server.app and restart your services.

  • Change the display name of the Profile Manager Portal?

    Hello.
Does anyone know if it's possible to change the name that's displayed on the Profile Manager User Portal? It's using my server name and I'd rather it be something a little more generic? Is this possible?
    Thanks,
    Kristin.

  • New App Purchases never show in Profile Manager

I have been using VPP Managed Distrubuition and Profile Manager without issue since December then out of the blue new any app purchases never appear in Profile Manager under the App tab. Includes both paid and free apps and they are in the Purchase History of my Program Facilitator account. Nothing has changed at the server setup that I'm aware of and I'm not really sure where to go now as emailing VPP support resulted in a reply that they can't offer advice on Profile Manager and I need to speak to Enterprise support. I think my VPP token is broken.
I have turned Profile Manager off and back on, removed the token and redownloaded and applied it again and performed another purchase and still nothing is showing that has been purchased since Febuary. Have also turned the Push Notifications off and back on. The 80 odd apps purchased before Feb continue to work as expected and I can assign them to users, remove users from the program and retrieve the licence etc.
As a last ditch I updated the OS to 10.9.2 along with the corisponding Server App version yesterday but this has had no effect.
Greatly appreciate any thoughts or suggestions.

Can do however won't that clear all my App assignments in Profilemanager and Managed Profile Settings? The MDM functions of Porfile Manager are working fine. Just can't see new App purchases.
I tested again yesterday and purchased 5 new distrubuited licences of Edmodo and Micosoft Word. Neither display to assign to users.
Have 73 existing purchases made before March showing still and I can assigned them to users who have enrolled. I can also continue to enroll new users.

  • Fast User Switching through Profile Manager

We recently started using OS X Server to manage our Mac computers, currently only 2 but further expansion is expected.  I only have one of the Macs set up on the server for testing purposes.  We are primarily an Active Directory network and I have implemented Open Directory through OS X Server and bound that to the primary Windows domain controller.
So far, things have gone quite smoothly with the integration except for implementing fast user switching on the single client machine tied to the OS X Server box.  I have gone through Profile Manager and under the Login Window settings for the laptop, enabled fast user switching.  However, it still does not work on the client machine after the changes were pushed out.
The user does not get her user name listed in the upper right and we have found no other method of using fast user switching.  She specifically wants to display the login window when she's not at her desk (and this is required for security reasons).  As it is, she has to completely log out of her machine every time she leaves her desk which is, inconvenient, to say the least.
I have searched through the discussions here and every mention I've found that seems to reference this issue also references using network home directories, which we are not doing.  I have the home directory set to continue to reside on the local machine so the AFP/NFS issue shouldn't apply.
Prior to implementing OS X Server, the only thing we were unable to do was limit external drive use and writable media on the Macs since they don't recognize those GPOs from the domain controller.  Updates were easily handled through a third party appliance that we already use for all our other devices and computers on the network.  At this point, if fast user switching is unavailable, it would be less work and less inconvenient for me to simply limit the external media use locally and allow the Mac to be locked by removing the influence of OS X Server.
If anyone knows how to enable it though, this would be my preference since the Software Update is *easier* through OS X Server.

I found the problem.  The device group that the laptop in question was assigned to also has an option for fast user switching that was not enabled.  I enabled it there and the problem was resolved.

  • Network Printers not showing in Profile manager?

Does Profile Mangager in Lion Server show network printers? I can get USB printers to appear, but the network printers that I have mapped in the Printers & Faxes system pref don't appear? Is there something that needs to be done to make them appear? For now, I'm using Workgroup Manager to push printers, but it would be nice if I could use Profile Manager.
The network printers are shared out so they can be used with a program called AirPrint Activator for iPad printing.

I'm on Mountain Lion Server, and had the same issue; restarting Profile Manager made the printers appear, although maybe I just needed to wait longer.

    Regards,
    Sundar

    Dear Sundar,
To create new Role, use T. Code: PFCG
Now, Provide Role's name, and Click tab: Create (in 4.6 X) or Tab: Single Role or Composite Role (In ECC 6.0). Give Description.
Now, click Tab: Menu --> Transaction (T. Codes etc.),
Tab: Authorization --> Change Authorization Data (Auhorization to Profile i.e. change/ Display/reate etc.)
Tab: User (user to which Role assignment is reqd) and then click: User comparison.
    Thats it....
    Rewards accordingly.
    Best regards,
    Amit

  • Successfully enrolled devices not showing in profile manager

On a newly installed (from scratch, formatted etc) Mountain Lion server, I'm having an issue where I can successfully enrol a device, an iPhone with 6.1 iOS in this case, but the enrolled device does not show up in the devices?
I see a previous post in these communities with a similar issue, the solution was to add place holders after the device was enrolled, unfortunately this is not a solution for me, as soon as you re-enrol the placeholder dissapears  I have another server running mountain lion at another site and this is working just fine.
Any solutions?  I'm pulling my hair out with this.  I have a niggling feeling that with the other server I had a similar problem when I upgraded to Mountain Lion and had to edit one of the ruby files in the profilemanager to display the devices but I can't remember where or when
    Regards,
    Stephen...

    ok update to this problem:
If I enroll a Mac device, in this case the mini server itself then these are displayed under the device library.
also tried an iPad with iOS6 and this was successful, and displays in the device library.
Currently the iPhone is not displaying although enrolled successfully is an iPhone4 so I'm going to experiment with a few other devices and see whats happening

  • Why is the Profile Manager web portal inaccessible after update to 3.2.1 ?

We run the Profile Manager in OS X as an MDM. We also use the Device Enrollment Program.
After updating to 3.2.1, the web portal for Profile Manager became inaccessible, and DEP checkbox in Profile Manager became unchecked.
I've attempted to re-enroll in the DEP, but it always rejects the Token I give.
I don't know if the two problems are related or not.
    Does anyone have a solution?
This is the log from the Profile Manager Service Log when I attempt to log in to the Profile Manager portal.

    Hi there,
New to the Apple world (Hi ) and struggling with profile manager.
I have used NetRestore to get an image onto 2 iMacs and I'm just going through the process of adding them to our network.
Post build I'm trying to enroll both iMacs but they are somehow clashing or linked. If I enroll MU112MAC, MU111MAC suddenly shows as enrolled (from the http://macserver/mydevices page). I've checked to make sure they have the correct computer name/host name but for some reason as soon as I enroll 1 they both show as enrolled (though only 1 device shows in profile manager devices).
Coming from a Windows background I thought this might be due to lack of a sysprep (or equivalent) beign run pre-capture but from some searching there doesn't seem to be a sysprep as such but rather guides on cleaning up cache and creating default user profile. I have a feeling the device was enrolled pre-capture so wondering if that's where the problem has arisen?
    Any pointers/suggestions gratefully received.
