No Virtualization Enable Setting in BIOS for TS140?

There is no Virtualization Setting in the BIOS (version 48A released date 8/26/13) of the new TS140. I have installed server 2012 but not able to install Hyper-V option. Called Lenovo Tech Support but he told me that if the Intel Chipset driver is installed then Virtualization is enabled. I double checked that it has the correct software driver installed but see no possibility of enabling VTx from within server 2012 OS. I hope this message would go to the LENOVO support guru and Please let me know if the VTx enabling setting will be implemented in the future releases of the BIOS. Thank you.

Lenovo Tech Support Dale found out that the BIOS setting is under Advanced - CPU setup <enter> then Virtualization setting is in there. It works now! It was me who missed it while navigating several time into its BIOS...

  • Timing setting in BIOS for Corsair DDR3 on P35D3?

I'm having problems getting my new P35D3 MS-7356 to boot correctly (see symptoms below).
MSI tech wrote: "...contact manufacture of ram for possible timing setting recommendation in bios."
    I have (1) 1024MB  stick of Corsair DDR3 1066MHz PC8500 Dual Channel kit, TWIN3x2048-1066C7 G Memory Retail in the #1 & and another in the #3 slot .
    The BIOS is version 1.1.0.L53.
I have no experience overclocking. I've been trying to boot using the "Load Optimize Default."
Anyone know what timing setting I should be using that the tech is talking about?
    Description of the problem:
    Installed MOBO and
    graphics card
    one HDD
    two MB memory
    1 USB keyboard
    1 USB mouse
    ViewSonic 20” LCD monitor
The HDD is powered by a SATA power cable and is plugged into the board via a SATA cable.
This is what happened with the very first boot attempt:
I plugged in the power supply cord
I turned on the power supply and the red LED light on the board comes on.
I press the power-on button on the front of the case and the HDD LED and power switch LED come on.
The power supply fan, the CPU Fan, and the Sys Fan1 (case exhaust fan), start running for two seconds and then stop.
After two more seconds the fans start again and the monitor displays 4 lines of info about the nVidia card and that's it. No BIOS info.
The LCD screen turns black and reverts to "No Signal".
The fans stop for 3-5 seconds and the process repeats itself indefinitely.
If I press the CMOS button I get:
4 lines of nVidia info appear and then the MSI Logo with the option to Set BIOS followed with:
    CMOS setting Wrong
    Date and Time setting wrong
    Press F1 to run setup
Press F2 to load default values
I press F1 and enter the time and date and Optimize for Default and press Save and Windows Vista Ultimate loads. I’m able to work in Vista for as long as I wish.
Then I try to reboot and I have to go through the above steps again, in other words the BIOS does not retain the date and time.
I booted with just one stick installed and then again with the other stick in the #1 slot and, providing I do the above mentioned CMOS reset (& re enter date and time), the PC boots into Vista.
I have tried F2 "Load default values," and Vista loads but the date and time in Vista are incorrect and then my virus software won't download the latest versions.
MSI recommended swapping out the mem, HDD, PS, CPU, and graphics card, or, taking it to a local tech but none of those are realistic options from here on the Big Isle of Hawaii.
Any suggestions will sure be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Kerry

    Hi Del,
Re: “...battery.” I did check the Lithium batt and it’s new & fully charged. I did the same for the first board I received before I RMA’d it.
Re: “PSU.” It is an ULTRA X3 600W Energy Efficient Modular ULT40073 Power Supply. I’ve written to Ultra describing the problem, telling them that MSI thinks the problem might be their PSU (no reply yet).
Re: “BIOS for update.” The first board came with v. 1.0 installed. After getting the described boot problem I updated the BIOS to v1.1 and got the exact same results. The RMA’d board came with 1.1.0.L53 installed. MSI’s driver download page shows that this is their latest version. [As an aside. Forum members say that I’m the only one they know of who has this new MOBO. ZipZoomFly.com, the vendor, wrote, "You're the only one who's having this problem with this MOBO."
Re: “I would also not mix memory, either go dual channel or single 1Gb” I’m confused. I have CORSAIR 2048MB (2x1024MB) DDR3 1066MHz PC8500 Dual-Channel Kit One stick in the # 1 slot and one stick in the #3 slot. I was advised to test the mem by taking out the #3 stick and seeing if it would boot with just the one stick in the #1 slot.  It did. I then exchanged the sticks, again leaving the #3 slot empty, and again I could boot but ...with both tests I had to do the same reset the CMOS procedure. This test was supposed to eliminate the ram as the problem. However, after reporting the results of the test to MSI they said to contact Corsair and ask their timing setting recommendation in bios."  I’m awaiting a reply to my post on Corsair’s Forum.
    Thanks,
    Kerry

  • Dv6-6135dx - How to Enable AHCI in bios for use in Windows 7 64bit

I bought the dv6-6135dx notebook some time back.
I recently got a Solid State Disk and I would like to turn on the Trim, feature.
To turn Trim on I need to enable AHCI.  There is no such option in bios.  How can I turn AHCI on?
I found an unlocked version of the bios that turns on apparently disabled menus, but that may or may not corrupt the bios and I'd like to not have to resort to that.

    Hi,
It's there by default, why do you need to enable it ?

  • Virtualisation enabling in the BIOS

In order to run VMWare client, I need to enable vt-x (virtualisaion)
I upgraded the BIOS from F.57 to F58 (The latest published by HP) bit there isn't an option to enable it in the BIOS. (In fact, I have never seen so few configuration options in a BIOS before)
I tried google, and read a lot of irrelevant threads, then found this forum but a search for virtualisation returns zero hits.
I don't believe I am the first person to have this problem on a relatively old piece of hardware. I downloaded Coreinfo from Sysinternals and the output tells me the processor is capable.... I am considering loading an unapproved BIOS but would prefer to stay on the safe side of the track if anyone can provide any insight??
    Thanks in advance!
    Pete

Ok, I've confirmed that you need to press F2, as you were doing previously, during startup to enter the BIOS. You should be pressing it when you see the Lenovo splash screen appear. Maybe you weren't pressing it at the right time? I've also found that pressing a couple times while the splash is showing works.
Here are a couple documents I found that may be of use to you as references:
    User guide - http://www.lenovo.com/shop/americas/content/user_guides/gseries_ug_en.pdf
    Hardware maintenance manual - http://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/lenovo_g480_g485_g580_g585_g780_hmm_v1.0_english.pdf
Quick question... what CPU is in your machine?
    Cheers.
ETA: looking through the user guide linked above, on page 47 at the bottom, it says
"Hold F2 during startup. The BIOS setup utility screen opens. The
System Memory item shows the total amount of memory installed in
        your computer."
So, if the method at the top doesn't work, try this: Shut your machine all the way down. Press power. Press and hold the F2.
This is certainly different than what I'm used to with my Thinkpad Ts, Rs and Xs.

  • How to Enable XMP in BIOS of TS140 Server 70A4 00HUX

I installed 4X8GB DIMM's pc3-12800 ddr3-1600 in a TS 140.   I am running Win 7 64-bit Pro OS to use it as a HTPC/Media Server.   The WEI should be maxed out but it is only 7.4.   I was checking other sites which suggest that the clock speed may be set to 1333MHz instead of the 1600MHz that these DIMM's are capable of.
I checked the BIOS and there are no settings which will enable Intel XMP or allow me to manually set the clock speed or timing for these DIMM's.
Can someone tell me how/where to access and change this in the BiOS?   I have a 70A4 00HUX model

    Quote from: rp00 on 03-June-15, 22:47:43
but if you set your mem settings to auto, it should pick up 1866 speed from SPD
    Check with CPU-Z
Such is not possible. Programmed SPD settings to be used depend on the abilities of the memory controller (here means the cpu) used. The maximum specified memory support of an i7 4790K is DDR3 and DDR3L 1333/1600 (http://ark.intel.com/products/80807/Intel-Core-i7-4790K-Processor-8M-Cache-up-to-4_40-GHz). It is therefor impossible to run memory without an XMP extension (like the Fury sticks) on the platform in question above ddr3 1600 without setting speeds and timings manually.

    Ricky119,
We can inquire further, but the IdeaPad product line does not support VT presently.  As it is not marketed as specifically having this feature, this will likely be seen as a future requirement rather than a bug to fix.

These fix a battery charging issue and have several other important fixes from previous updates rolled in. However, the real problem you will face is that the P7350 processor standard in that machine does not support virtualization.

  • Enable virtualization

    Hi,
I have a Pavilion DV7-2260ed. It has the Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T6600 @ 2.20GHz. It has hardware virtualization, but Virtual PC's detection application warns that the capability is disabled in the BIOS.
My BIOS does not have an option to enable it.
I have read on fora that the advanced options in the bios can be enabled. However, for this specific model there is no Flash file available.
    What can I do?
    Thank you,

    Any solutions?

In your case, it is not possible for you to enable Intel VT because the CPU does not support this feature. (Your dv7-2215eb has an Intel Core 2 Duo T6600.)

It seems that my T6600 Duo core processor is unable to support VT-x.
I do not have the enable Virtualization Technology option in my BIOS and also do not know how and if I can enable the advanced options. But now, I think it is not necessary anymore.

    Hi guy's,
Well good news, I received a bunch of BIOS'ses from MSI that have Hyper-V enabled.
The BIOS are released here as Hyper-V doesn't work for every CPU even if it does have it.
If it works it work, if it doesn't you are out of luck.
The BIOS is attached and we STRONLY recommend you >>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<!!
Have fun with them, but beware, they are for use at your own risk!! Nor do we know if they will have new versions in the future.

  • P6-2133W Virtualization AMD-V BIOS BUG?

Im trying to enable AMD-V Virtualzation. The Bios states enabled however the OS states otherwise. How do I enable this in the bios firmware? the latest bios update according to HP is 7.16 (although there is a bios patch available 7.23 that really doesnt work for this model) Can anyone please help?

Afer fiddling around for a couple weeks I was able to enable this feature. However its not perm and its more of a workaround. However if anyone else is having this issue, I hope it helps....
    Step1) Enable VT in Bios
    Step2) Hard Power Cycle Machine
Step3) Load PC and then put the computer in suspend mode and wait about 2 mins
Step4) Wakeup PC and then re-check if the extension is enabled in bios. In my case it activates every single time.
I noticed this behavior in my windows 8.1 enviroment, but I am able to reproduce this behavior in my Linux enviroment at the moment. I will test further with my windows OS.
    Screen shot attached as proof.
If you reboot the machine all you need to do is suspend the computer again.
I hope this helps some people.

I'm working on a flex project, completely new to it. I'm trying to resize my application based on the set height size for each state. I'd like the wrapper to resize in the browser so that the  browser's scroll bar appears if needed. hope this makes sense....
My enitial opening page I've set the height to 1000. now when I click on a link to another state from this page, we'll call it 'home' which i have set to 2000
The page opens in its 2000 height but no scroll bar appears to scroll down in the browser...
If anyone's done this or knows how to, I'd really appreciate your input.

I've done something similar with a few of my apps, you have to use a little javascript on the html page and the ExternalInterface class in your app. Basically, you need to resize the "browser's" height based on your flash file.  So here's quick example:
In your html template page (which you can edit in your flashbuilder project panel ->html-template->indext.template.html)
in your html add the jscript function:
    <script type="text/javascript">
             function setWindowHeight(heightVal){
document.getElementById('theWindow').style.height=heightVal; // make sure to give the body tag an id of 'theWindow' or whatever
    </script>
In your flashbuilder app you need to call the javascript fx, you can use the ExternalInterface class for this:
      ExternalInterface.call('setWindowHeight',val+'px');
you need to send the jscript fx the height of your container or whatever you want it resized to....

  • Windows CS3 vs CS4: Setting Artboard Cropmarks for Exporting

After doing a bunch of research trying to find a fix, I have only discovered that there are thousands of other people posting on various forums regarding this same issue, so I think a detailed and complete explanation or instruction on how to do this would be very helpful and appreciated. Other than in the Save For Web & Devices settings, there seems to be no options to Export using cropmarks, or export a file to be properly cropped to the Artboard dimensions. Again, this function is possible when Saving for Web, but not with a normal high resolution Export as a flattened image such as a jpg.
I am currently designing some projects in Illustrator CS4, using Windows XP. I am NOT using multiple artboards, only one. On previous versions of Illustrator, users could simply Export> an image as a JPG, and the image would be appropriately cropped to either the Document size, or predetermined Crop Area marks which were easily chosen in the Object dropdown menu.
Since this ever useful Object > set cropmarks function was removed with the advent of CS4, I am unable to Export an Illustrator file as a high-res JPG or TIF using the supposed Artboard as the cropmarks.
In other words, when trying to export my project, the saved/exported image includes all content placed in the document, even material that extends beyond the Document size or Artboard size. Why is this? What am I overlooking? Thanks in advance for any help or insight.

Hey guys, been working on this all day.
I just bought Win7 Pro and things are running ok under the XP Mode.  I still have a couple of issues with NEF files from my D90 vs ACR4.6.
I can't get that to load.  I'm tired of looking at this computer, so that may be a part of it.
In any event, here's what I've learned that has worked.
My system is new, delivering with Win7Home.
I went to BestBuy and bought a Windows Anytime Upgrade for Home>Professional  $89.00
Inside the "case" is a numerical code to unlock the upgrade.
Follow the instructions, and you're off and running.
Here's a couple of links to guide you through the steps.  READ them THOROUGHLY.  I'm a button pusher, so god forbid I read it closely.  Would have saved me a few hours.  LOL
Things to pay attention to:  Virtual PC and testing to see if you can run XP, and then setting the BIOS to enable Hardware Virtualization.
