Try in order:
- Reset the iPod.  Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore the iPod from backup via iTunes
- Restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod.

You should take it to an Apple store or an AASP (Authorized Apple Service Provider) Carefully inspect the hinge joint and make sure there is no debris that you can see, you can try carefully sliding some sticky tape thru the joint to clear any loose stuff out. But this sounds like there might be more going on here, and the hinge is something that you do not want to fool with.

  • My macbook pro is making a weird sound, please help?

    Hello,
i have an early 2011 model, it was running soo fine until now.
its making a weird sound, to describe, it sounds like a small *trrr* at normal state, and at high, intense states, (playing games..) it turns into a loud *trrrrrr*, but, if i hit it gently over the keyboard, it goes away, then comes back.
please, i dont have an apple retail store in my country, i need help from here, help me.

first thing to do is to buy a new hard drive and an external drive before it fails so you won't lose your files.
once you've done that, put the new hard drive in the external drive and open disk utility.
format/erase your new hard drive as MAC OS EXTENDED Journaled.
After that has been done, open carbon copy (if you don't have it, you can download it for free).
Once carbon copy is open, click on clone your hard drive.  Source drive is what you're using now and your target drive is your new hard drive.
Once carbon copy is done, turn off your macbook, open the back of your macbook, take off the hard drive and install your new hard drive.
After you've done all those, turn your macbook back on and you're back in business.

  • Powerbook "turns on" no display, weird sound?

My G4 will not start. The familiar chime comes on when I press the power button, and it sounds like it will start. However, no video shows up and no hard drive activity seems to be happening. When I held down the power button and shift key together, the little lid-button light blinked a bunch of times, and a weird sound happened (sort of a low beep)
    Any ideas?

How do you turn the weird sound off when sending a text using the iPhone 4S?

Go to Settings-Sounds-Text Tone and change to None.  You're referring to the sound when posting a message to someone else, correct?  The only issue is if you set to none, you will not hear the incoming either.

The 13" retina MBP has two fans, left and right near the hinge and about 2.5" each from the edges of the case.
My conjecture is that one of the fans may be failing.  An appointment at an Apple store genius bar is the best option.  The evaluation will be FREE and a fan replacement (if that is the problem) should not break the bank account.
You might run an Apple Hardware Test:

This may confirm my suspicion or perhaps find a different problem. Note that an error free result should not be viewed as being definitive.
    Ciao.

Hi Try and describe the sound. Is it a clicking sound? Buzzing, or whirring sound? Does it seem like your Macbook Pro is running a little hotter?

  • Weird sound coming from above F1-F3 keys - locks computer up

I just got my MacBook Pro back from Apple and they did not fix the problem below (although, they fixed a number of small things, thankfully, like the bad speakers, crash from sleep, flaking keyboard paint, etc.). I am taking it back in today and need to figure out how to best describe this problem or point them in the right direction, since it was not addressed.
About a week ago, my MacBook Pro starting making this weird sound above the F1-F3 keys, something resembling a loud hard drive accessing sound or a sparking sound. When this happens, the cursor turns into the colored spinning beach ball, locking up my ability to interact with my computer. This continues for maybe 5-10 minutes. Then the sound stops, and the beachball goes away. But, it could come back anytime. This makes working on my computer virtually impossible as there are times it happens 3-4 times in an hour. It comes randomly, at any time. It seems some likely if the computer has been running for awhile and is overheating, but it has been known to come on bootup sometimes, as well.
No idea what his is - I already had the Main Logic Board replaced and it didn't help, so it must be another component up there underneath the F1-F3 keys.
    Any expert advice? Thank you.

    hi Andy
ok i've just learned how to operate the console...
and the noise just happened at 8.52 though there is no record at 8.52 !

though i did scroll back earlier and though i can't be certain it was happening at the this time i saw this suspicious entry repeated hundreds of times.  i'm a complete novice on console - this is just on the start-up screen - not tried any of the side menus.
will try in safe mode next unless you think anything below is the culprit!

  • Weird sound during playback of recorded track

hey guys, how are you all doing?
so i got a new pc rig, which is quite fast, and have started using adobe audition for recording purposes.
    i use a soundblaster audigy 2 soundcard
when i record one track and then play it, theres a weird sound at around 25 seconds which becomes louder and then stops suddenly. it also creates a delay if i'm recording multiple tracks. here's a sound clip of the noise:
    http://www.savefile.com/files/2151778
please tell me how to fix it.
    any help would be appreciated

    Thanks.
I found a solution which works at least between 50 bpm and 177 bpm:
Add a volume fader. Connect the output of the volume fader to the input of the tempo fader and set the input of the tempo fader to volume, then record the volume fader. Moving the volume fader moves also the tempo fader and changes the tempo.
During play back, the volume fader reads the recorded automation data and updates the tempo fader in real-time and the tempo of the song is changed.
For this you don't have to activate tempo recording in the project settings and the possibilities to graphically edit automation data are also better.
Additionally you can add varispeed to set the speed range from 25 - 88,5 bpm up to 100 - 354 bpm.

  • Volume troubleshooting - weird sounds

    Hi,
i just bought an iBook G4 (12'') and when i first turn it on and want to change the volume with the F4 and F5 keys, instead of the specific sound supposed to come out (like a bubble) it kind of bugs and takes a while before actually carrying out the command...
I thus hear a low, and sort of weird sound.
However, when I open iTunes, it works just fine... It's no real problem actually but I'm afraid it might only be the tip of the iceberg.
I have to admit that I did give it a slight bump before noticing that problem, but then again I only bought 10 days ago without yet having made full use of it...
(I also checked the CD burner and it works fine, so how could a bump not affect the -sensitive- CD burner and affect the volume keys... ?)
does anybody have a clue... ?
    THank you very much.
    iBook G4 12''   Mac OS X (10.4.2)

Do you have a lot of applications running when it does this? I find that when my computer is doing a lot, there will be a delay before it changes the volume level. The sound is also sometimes a little different. Does it do this when you don't have anything besides the system running? If not, I wouldn't worry about it. It's just because the computer is using a lot of it's memory at that moment. You can always add more RAM, and that should solve it. But it's not that big of a problem

  • Weird sound after audio plays

Basically I hear a weird sound when after listening to music or any kind of media on my mac. The noise is simmilar to the kind of white noise you get from a cheap mic that doen't buffer correctly. Is this normal or oculd osmething be wrong? It does not last long, but im ont sure if I should be worried or not.

Sorry for the delay to answer. First of all we need to try all the possible solutions in order to say that your laptop is faulty. if you are experience user you can :
    a) reinstall the operating system again by booting into your dvd that came with your laptop.
after the reinstallation if the problem exists you can install windows as a bootcamp and see if you can hear the noise there. if yes means that your sound card might have a problem. if not means that you need a clean installtion of the oparating system.
    let me know

  • Macbook Pro V10.6.6 making weird sound

My Macbook pro has started making this weird sound suddenly starting this morning. It's coming from the right side and the sound is very hard to explain. It's somewhat krrrrrrr, something like an electric, static sound. It's hard to hear at times but it can get quite annoying when it gets loud. It comes and goes. I tried restarting my computer but the sound still remains. What could that sound be? I hope all my internal hardware is fine
    Please help me out here!!

Try doing a SMC reset, it may take a couple of try's. The instructions are:
    *SMC RESET*
    • Shut down the computer.
    • Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
    • On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
    • Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
    • Press the power button to turn on the computer.
    *PRAM RESET*
    • Shut down the computer.
    • Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step
    • Turn on the computer.
    • Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
    • Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    • Release the keys.

  • Making weird sound every time I switch songs.  Really annoying..

Ok, so my iPod Touch makes a weird sound every time I switch songs. It is the exact same sound the iPod makes when connecting the USB cable to my macbook. I tried turning off all sound effects, didn't help.
Any idea? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Strange. Which phone model? What file format is used for the songs? How did you transfer them to your phone? Where on the phone do you put them?

  • Weird sounds new Macbook Pro

Just bought a new MacBook Pro 13inch. And every now and then it makes weird sounds.
(sounds like a UFO or something and a swoosh kind of sound)
I cannot link the sounds to anything I do.
maybe I'm too impatient to find it out but after a few days, I still can't figure it out.
    Thank you in advance.

Since the sound is coming from your speakers, call Apple Care, put the phone near the speakers so that Apple Care can hear it!
