Nokia 5000 and iSync

Can anyone tell me where I can find update for iSync to support Nokia 5000? Nova Media didn't release it yet.

Worked like a charm!
I only had to discover the exact gmm, so I put <string>Nokia+Nokia 5000d-2</string> .
To discover the exact gmm, I ran /Applications/iSync.app/Contents/PlugIns/ApplePhoneConduit.syncdevice/ Contents/PlugIns/PhoneModelsSync.phoneplugin AND I added a new Phone Model. After discover exactly GMM, I edited MetaClasses.plist, then ran again PhoneModelsSync.phoneplugin to execute the extensive tests. *It worked like a charm!*

Nokia E61i and iSync problem - Please help!

I had the Nokia E62 and I was syncing with my macbook pro without any any problems. Last week I got the Nokia E61i and installed the plug-in for the isync from the nokia website. I have been unable to sync the 2 phones. I have deleted the phones from isync and reset the phones but no luck. I have tried both bluetooth and cable. The isync connects to the phone but give me an error message - "An unexpected error occured. Device 'Nokia E61i' synchronization failed"
Please I need someone to help me resolve this problem.

Nokia E62 and iSync 2.4

I am considering purchasing a Nokia E62, and I know that the new version of iSync (2.4) now supports this phone. I was wondering if anyone has tried paring the phone over Bluetooth and whether the sync works well or not. Thanks.

The E62 supports both USB and Bluetooth syncing, so pairing the phone over Bluetooth is an essential part of the setup process if you choose to sync via Bluetooth. If you couldn't pair it, you wouldn't be able to sync via BT, and it wouldn't be listed as BY sync compatible.
What do you mean by 'the sync works well'?
As the phone is officially supported by iSync then of course it means it does sync well - otherwise it wouldn't be listed as an iSync supported device.

There is no schedule. Apple hasn't added any new model support to iSync for over a year. They're leaving new phone support up to third-party iSync plugins.
Try contacting one of the third-party iSync Plugin developers on the page below, to see if and when support for your phone will be available:

Nokia 6620 and iSync

For the past year, I have been syncing my iMac with my Nokia 6620. Tonight, I get an error message. The iSync log gives the following:

It appears there is something wrong with the Nokia 6620. I have reset the phone several times but, I still get the same error message.
Any ideas?

What you perceive as a problem is actually a feature - a consequence of shifting synchronization of all servers, applications and devices to the SyncService framework. Now, iTunes is configured to interact with the truth database maintained by SyncServices to synchronize iPods, .Mac Sync handles a similar interaction to synchronize with .Mac, and iSync is relegated to handling mobile handsets and Palm handheld organizers and smartphones.
In the same manner, applications like iCal and the Address Book interact with the SyncServices framework, as do many third-party applications like MySync, the Missing Sync for Palm OS, DayLite, and others.
If your mobile handset is not connected via Bluetooth or USB, or iSync is not running when you initiate a synchronization event using the HotSync icon, or the button on your cable or cradle, then your device will not be synchronized until it is 'attached' and iSync is launched. This update occurs because the SyncServices engine is aware that the device exists and was not available during the prior event. As soon as becomes available, the update takes place.
If you want your mobile handset to be simultaneously synchronized when you synchronize your Palm device, then you must do two things:
• 'attach' it via Bluetooth or USB, and
• launch iSync prior to initiating the HotSync

Nokia 5140 and iSync

I just bought a Nokia 5140. It does not have bluetooth. I can get a USB data cable to connect the phone to the computer, but the Nokia software is Windows only. Has anyone tried connecting this Nokia phone (or any other model) with a cable? Will iSync recognize the phone? I dont want to waste $50 on a cable that wont do me any good.

I think that's no problem at all. iSync works perfectly with my Nokia 6230i and the DKU-2 Nokia Data-Cable.

Trouble with Nokia 6680 and iSync

I have a Nokia 6680 and an iMac. Recently I wanted to clean up my contact list but I'm having problems in this.
Contacts created in the phone get transfered to my computer with iSync easy, but I can't transfer all my contacts created in my iMac to the Nokia 6680.
It used to work sincronizing a hundred contacts, but now I can't do it with 40 or 50. It's supposed to work all the ways but it doesn't.
What should I do? Is there any kind of limitation with my phone or iSync?

It seems to be impossible to get in touch with Nokia developers. They are probably on vacation..
We've struggled with this for about 2 weeks now,and the most likely reason is:
1. It's a bug
2. The locator url has changed since the phone has two cameras.

What can I Sync using my Nokia e61 and Isync

Hi there
Can I only sync contacts and Ical?
I wanted to load some music and some pdf's onto the phone can I do this via the mac, or do I have to use the nokia cable and a PC?
New to the E61 so keen to review what can be done with it and what cant - but dont really want to buy any 3rd party sync tools

I have used this to transfer music onto the Nokia E61, and enabled that to be used as my ring tone
It seems okay and havent found any issues with it, but being a BETA it is always wise to air caution

Nokia N71 and iSync 2.2

Hi, I just got my new N71 (great phone!) but I discovered it's not supported by iSync! (yet, hopefully). So after a bit of research on the web I finally managed to write a plugin to sync the N71 with iSync 2.2. Note that I only tested this with iSync 2.2, and afaik it will not work with previous versions of iSync.
I created the N71 plugin starting from several others for other phones (see below for resources) and it seems to work fine.
Contacts are all sync up correctly (default numbers, contact thumbnails, birthdays, etc.).
Calendar is too, except I get the apparently usual annoying conversion of all-day appointments in 24h events. I don't know if it's because S60/3ed just doesn't have all-day events; but it's not a big deal for me at the moment, we'll see how this will be handled when Apple officially supports it. Contacts' birthdays (which automatically show up in the Birthday calendar in iCal) are converted to simple non-repeated events in the N71 calendar, falling at what seem random times.
If you know how to make a plugin, the difficult bit was to find the correct ID string (with the "-1" at the end), once that was done (thanks N91 forums!) it worked like a breeze.
I did not make a custom icon, so I'm using N70's (I know, I know, not an elegant solution but I'm not that good with images...)
Below are the details of the plugin. To create and install the plugin follow Tao of Mac's howto (I put mine in ~/library/PhonePlugins)

Please note that as any similar solutions for other phones, this is a hack, and as such it's *completely UNsupported*, the sync is not guaranteed, you might stumble into unexpected problems, etc.

Nokia N91 and iSync 2.2

i will be changing phone by Wednesday this week, from N90 to N91.
any N91 users who can share their experiences with iSync 2.2?
N90 is Symbian OS v8.1a (Symbian60 2nd Edition)
N91 is Symbian OS v9.1 (Symbian60 3rd Edition)
So modifying again the metaclasses.plist will not work since iSync 2.2 uses "family.com.nokia.serie60v2.3'
I will also post if it works with or without modifying the .plist once i got my N91.

CONTACTS:
As for the contacts, here's what i did:
- Created a "Contacts' folder inside the "Others' folder of the Nokia
Hard Drive;
- Open "Address Book' (Mac) and one by one drag and drop each
contact(s) to the created 'Contacts' folder.
- After transferring all contacts, open Nokia N91 Contacts, Options,
scroll to Copy, select 'From hard drive" and everything will be copied
to Nokia's Contacts.
**Finder will experience "Application not responding" at times.. Just wait for about 5mins or more and will go back to normal.
**Never disconnect N91.
The only thing i've noticed here is that the Mobile number is changed to as "Telephone' you can manually edit it..
Easy but tidious way:
Input contact individually in N91 and after go to Contacts, Options, Mark All, Option, Copy to hard drive, Choose "Yes' to "remove exixting contacts from hard drive' so there will be no duplicates. So next time you format the phone you can easily copy your contacts.

Nokia 6200 and isync

I have a G4 running OSX 10.3.9 with a bluetooth adapter
I also have a nokia 6200 with infared and if I wanted i can purchase a DKu-2 cord for usb connectivity. I don't think it has blue tooth,
I can also upgrade to the latest version of osx with the newest version of isync (2.2)
My phone is a 40 series nokia phone with infared.
is there an infared to bluetooth adapter
i just want to sync my vcards/address book

No.
Your phone needs to have Bluetooth installed. Even if there would be something like a IrDA to Bluetooth adapter, it would not help. Additionally, your phone requires a Nokia CA-42 USB data cable. Do not go for the DKU-5, DKU-2, CA-53 or any third party cable. Take only the original one. Nevertheless, you are still not able to do anything on in Mac OS X.
Furthermore, you Nokia 6200 is rather old and does contain the technology for data synchronization which Apple iSync is using.

Nokia N70 and iSync 2.4 fails

I've for some time been iSyncing my Nokia N70between my G5 and my PC/Outlook. Everything worked fine untill the 10.4.9 update. After the update the bluetooth sync does no longer work. My Mac and phone connects for a short moment after which they are m for some reason, disconnected.

I'm also having problems getting my N70 to sync with the new version of isync.
Everything was fine until the 10.4.9 update, but now when I try to sync I get an error message and only some of the iCal items are transferred. I have tried clearing the sync logs as has been suggested in some other threads, but it hasn't helped.
If someone at apple is listening, please can you fix this! I would really like the functionality back that I had until you "updated" my support!

Nokia 9300 and Isync of notes field

I just purchsed this phone, hasn't arrived yet, but would like to know if when syncing with a mac, the notes field is also synced. I have a lot of info in my notes field on my mac and it's important that this be transferred to my 9300 when it arrives. After a year and a half with a T-mobile wing windows mobile pro phone that deleted all my contacts whenever I tried to do a sync I am really looking forward to a new operating system and this phone which seems to have a beautiful form factor. So if the notes field from mac contacs I will be really pleased.

I got my 9300 to work with iSync on 10.4.7

You can buy the plugins to make iSync work with your 9300. Yes I know, I wish it was also free, but 9 euro isn't that much. So I bought the plugins and gave it a try. And it worked, I can now sync my 9300 with my mac using iSync. It uses the syncML protocol and therefore does not need to install any applications on your 9300 as it uses the build in syncing tool on the phone.
There is a small bug though that when you sync all day events to your phone or your mac they appear as an event that starts at 00:00 and continues to 23:59 on the same day. In iCal you can then just drag this to the top section of iCal so it looks like an all day event is supposed to (not much effort), on your 9300 it just appears as another appointment so it isn't that bad. (I suppose)
When I spoke to the developers at Nova Media about this, to see if they could perhaps fix it, this is the response I got:
"SyncML is a standard. As long as this standard is not extended and then implemented by Apple, Nokia etc. it can't be changed. Choose now, what you want to live with for the next 1-2 years."

Got the plugin from Nokia for I sync, but when trying to install a message appears saying that I need to update Isync to a newer version. My Mac is updated, what can I do ???

Move your copy of iSync back into the main Applications folder (not in any sub folder or other location) and re-run the installer. You should not move Apple Applications from their default locations.

Nokia E65 and iSync

Hi all
Until a few days ago everything went fine using a third party plugin. After executing the Security Update 2008-001 iSync didn't want to sync with my E65 any longer. I tried the original Nokia and several other plugins, but nothing worked.
Is this problem known and/or does anybody have a solution?

There's possibly some corrupt data in one or more of your Contacts or Calendars.
Try syncing only Contacts and then only Calendars and see if it will sync one but not the other. That will tell you where the corruption is.
Then have a look here for the procedure for identifying and fixing the corrupt items.
