Nokia 6280 update

hi!!!1 my nokia(6280) has some troubles.may you help me?
it has automatically switched on and off.(in stand by mode)automatically changing profiles(gentral,silent........) what is the problem?

There's not alot you can do on an S40 phone like the 6280.
Your only option here is to take your phone to your local Nokia Care Point. They'll be able to assess the problem and either reflash it or send it off for repairs.

Wiht Nokia Pc Suite I tried to update it to the last firmware 6.0.... but after the NSU says me to unplug and plug the battery the phone doesn't switch on.
During updating my software, my NOKIA was fully charged and to avoide any battery failiur, it was on charging mode.
PLz help me how can i reflash its software or how can i fix this prb.

I have 5.92 on my phone. You'll need to take it to a nokia centre to get upgraded, until they can do it with the updater program that is. Presumably that won't be too long, the 6270 is listed now.
Incidentally, 5.92 seems a lot better than the other firmware. Though is by no means perfect, mine has been fine for a while and now refuses to turn on. Luckily, I'm geting a new contract starting tomorrow so get a new phone.

updating to new firmware depends on product code which represents your region of purchasing, language pack and if it's branded or not .... so NOKIA releases firmwares and release it for every product code depending on mentioned points

if your phone is branded with an operator, that means that you should go to the operator care center and ask them, not NOKIA
some updates delay in some countries variant product code, as it requires more effort to add language pack to it like "example. China Japan Korea" or it needs the country to approve it due to its policy

Nokia 6280 failure restoring contact list using pc...

I own a Nokia 6280. Firmware - v3.81
OS: Win XP.
I took the phone to my local phone provider(partner orange, from which I bought the device) to update the phones version. This action has deleted my entire contact list.
Beforehand I made a backup using the pc suite back up feature, and the backup went smoothly. Now, when I try to restore my info using the restore function in the backup(content copier),it restores everything except the contact list. Somewhat in the middle of the resotration of the contact list, an error jumps saying the connection to the phone has been list. A few seconds later the connection restores automatically.
I tried solving the problem using this thread:

But it didnt quite work
What can I do to solve this problem? How can I restore my contacts?
And if not, Is there a way to convert the Backup NBU file into Outlook VCF format?

except notepad can't disipher the the names into english, and so cant hexedit's of their sort.

I tried to recover the phone as soon as I recieved it from the phone provider with the new v3.81. That is , the manufacturer's settings were the default. Unfortunantly that didn't work.

NOKIA 6280 MUSIC PLAYER IN JAPANESE!!!!!!

hi, i have recently bought the new nokia 6280 and ive installied and updated the Nokia PC suite. As i was converted the song to ACC and transferred them to my phone everything seemd fine until i put it on the music player on the phone. The titles are in wierd character which i think is japanese... in the folder the files are in english but as soon i put them into the music player its seen as japanese.

i have never tried using real player to transfer music to my 6280 i use windows media player so there is another option other than nokia pc suite. i find it easier to use and much quicker too.

Please do a search on this forum for "6280 software update" and you will have your answer.
Many people have written here about Nokia software updater that tries to flash their 6280 phones with V6.10 (intended for the 6288) and then breaks their phones.
I myself was busy downloading the firmware for a friends 6280 that was just minutes away from being flashed with 6.10 when I came across messages on many sites telling about the issue with the software updater and 6280 phones. I managed to save that 6280 from sure doom.
If you also searched before hand you would not have this trouble.
You need to take the phone to a nokia Service centre to have it flashed now and get it into a working state.

Nokia 6280 restriction code

hi..i have a question regarding my nokia 6280. sometimes my phone will hang and after a while, the phone will be locked and asked for the restriction code..is it normal?and also sometimes even while i am texting, it will be locked and ask the restriction code..may i know what is the restriction code of the phone?i really dont know..please help..

The restriction code is used to unlock as SIM-locked phone.
It is very unusual that your phones asks for it randomly, and then decides it doesn't need one after all, you should try a software update - either do it yourself with Software Updater (see the Nokia web site) or have it done at a Nokia service point. This should iron out the bug that has crept into your phone.

Nokia 6280 - how do you get it offline?

I recently purchases a second hand Nokia 6280. According to the Quick Start Guide under Phone hints it says: "Offline Mode: in the Profiles menu is offline mode, which turns off the mobile network connection. Choose this mode to use your Nokia 6280 when normal phones must be switched off (on planes, for example)" I do not seem to have this offline mode as an option. I get the following options only: General, Silent, Meeting, Outdoor, My Style 1, My Style 2 and Lock Keypad. Anybody got any suggestions, or is the Guide simply wrong ? Cheers

You'd have to take it to a service centre for an update.
There is no guarantee you'll get 5.92 though as it depends if the handset is operartor/network branded or not.

Nokia 6280 backlight always on.

Hi i got a problem with my nokia 6280. The blacklight is always on. Even when i turn it off the black light stills on.Frimeware version is v06.43. any got any ide whate i could be?

the fact that the back light is on even with the phone turned off is disturbing. anyway, remove the battery, that should turn the backlight off, wait for few seconds and then replace the battery back,don't turn te phone on, check to see if the backlight turns on again, if it did , then it's most propaly a hardware defect that should be checked by a nokia care point. if on the other hand the backlight stayed off, and the problem appeared only after you turned on the device for the first time, then i think you should reinstall your firmware and check again, if problem persisted after firmware reinstallation/update then take the phone to the nearest nokia care point.

Nokia 6280 connectivity help

When i click on the connectivity to set my bluetooth to YES,it wont seem to let me click on it and just stays on no.

Nokia 6280 v 81 helpppp

Hi I have a nokia 6280 and i cannot at the moment access my inbox, i keep getting a message operation failed please try later. I am with 3 who advise i have the wrong version on my phone and need to be updated to version .81 BUT this can take a week as they need to take my phone. But i need my phone so bad for work etc so can anyone tell me if i can get this update online? ( i have tried the carphone warehouse too but they cannot help) Thanks sarah xxxx
