Nokia E71 Possible Screen Issue?

Hey guys, I just bought an unlocked E71 yesterday. I'm just playing with it right now, and I noticed that the screen slightly flickers when u select "options" and the menu pops up. Is this a normal or do I potentially own a faulty device.

I dont get any flickering on my screen at all.
It sounds like there could be a fault to me, but without seeing it its not possible to tell.
I'd take it to a Nokia care point for them to check it out.

Nokia E71- possible to auto-activate bluetooth only when receive s call?
I have Nokia J bh-806 bluetooth which activates only when remove it from clip. This way it saves bluetooth battery. I wonder if is possible to auto turn on phone bluetooth with some application ,only when receive a call because since I activate it bluetooth battery of the phone (e71) is reduced to 50%.

    Hi,
There's no application that can do that actually. and the phone itself does not have the said feature. You have to manually turn on the bluetooth of the phone if you want to connect to your bluetooth headset.
    Thanks,

  • Nokia E71 - some serious issues, and Nokia doesn't...

Well, I have owned the Nokia E71 for some weeks now, and while I must say that hardware, design, keyboard and display of this phone are well engineered, when it comes to software, there are many serious show-stopper bugs in many very basic applications which have been known for months and have so far not been taken care of by Nokia. New buyers, beware: 1) The Email-client has great difficulties coping with more than about 950 messages. After that, out of memory errors and lockups while deleting messages appear. Sometimes, repeatedly, all messages are lost. 2) The internet browser crashes at random intervals. 3) The calendar seems to sometimes produce buggy internal files, which in turn make the error intolerant sync-function crash when trying to transfer data to a PC. 4) The camera picture is very noisy in low light conditions and has a purple haze. The haze was finally corrected in firmware 210. 5) However, since firmware 200 the clock in not updated in standby. 6) Since firmware 200 the alarm repeat mode does sometimes not work when the phone was switched off and was not being charged. 7) When a software installation went wrong, on every startup annoying messages appear. Due to memory protection, this cannot be corrected from the phone, but only from a PC in mass storage mode. 8) When using mass storage mode, most menu item customisations are lost. 9) When doing a firmware update, all memory contents is lost. Users repeatedly have reported that restoring the necessary backup sometimes does not work, thus all data is lost. 10) The text color of the contacts list is always black. Instead of making this something dependent on the installed color theme, since firmware 200 the background in contacts is now always white, whatever the theme. Ugly. 11) Bluetooth connections are known to be unstable. 12) There is no stop-watch or count-down timer. 13) Hands-free volume is not loud enough. In short, if you want to use your Nokia E71 professionally, and not just to play around, think twice. Perhaps a Blackberry Bold or Curve are the better choice.

I have read the whole of this topic with great interest. I haven't got an E71 yet but decided to look up a bit about it first before deciding whether it was for me. I have been using a T2 palm which is now ancient and coming to the end of its life so need something that is going to be as reliable as it has been in the past. I also wanted to consolidate my phone with my diary. I am now in two minds as to whether to go for a smart phone at all :-S.
I don't think this discussion has anything to do with the decision as to whether to get a smart phone. It has to do with whether to get *this* smart phone. There are others, of course, and they should be considered.
The original question i was looking for on the forums was whether you can cut and paste entries in the calendar as that is something I use everyday, but now having read all the posts on this board I am worried that I will lose all my appointments and contacts!!
You aren't going to lose your appointments and contacts unless you are foolish enough not to sync your phone with a PC and to back up that PC. If you have data  that you care about in any electronic device and you don't back it up and the device loses the data or you lose the device you have only yourself to blame. Presumably you sync your T2 (a fine device, I have one, and two T3s as well)? Well, do the same with whatever phone you buy.
Can anyone convince me that I am doing the right thing in even considering a Nokia E71?
You've read what's been said here. I think the summary is that the hardware is very good, Symbian is a solid OS, but some of the phone and PC software, as well as the (website and phone) support is slipshod (I tried calling Nokia customer service the other day and their phone menu system went into a loop!). My experience is that while much of this is annoying as hell, I've managed to beat this thing into submission and make it usable, at least for me. And I use it both as an organizer (I'm finding that I use my T3 less and less, though I still keep it up-to-date, because there are things it can do that the E71 can't) and a phone. One of my requirements was that I wanted an unlocked phone. Because I am a light phone user (also occasional user of the web browser and email client; rarely use texting), I have a pay-as-you-go account, which is far less expensive than the usual contract account. The E71 is available unlocked at reasonable prices. Something equivalent, like the Blackberry Bold, was twice the price when I bought the Nokia in February. The iPhone wasn't available unlocked. The Google phone wasn't available unlocked and the reviews were lukewarm. The Palm Pre wasn't available. Etc. The E71 seemed like the most reasonable solution for me at the time. Of course, I didn't know about the problems I was to encounter, but, as I said,  I've worked around them.
So my advice to you is to look at the whole field of available smart phones, of which there are many, consider your needs and do cost/benefit analysis. I would include the E71 in your deliberations but certainly can't give it an unqualified recommendation. But I also can't say "you are completely insane if you buy this phone". It depends on your requirements and what you are willing to pay.
I hope this helps a bit.
    /Don Allen

  • Nokia E71 Faulty Screen

I recently bought an E71 for my husband, it's a great phone but the screen has been powering off a few times recently, then he dropped it into some water and the screen is just remaining blank, although the rest of the phone works ok, eg, if someone calls he can answer etc, he can dial out if he knows the number, he can't look up his contacts/tect etc as the screen is blank!
Is this repairable if we take it somewhere? The phone isn't in warranty. Could we just buy a replacement screen?
    Any advice appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • N8/C7 PURPLE SCREEN ISSUE AND HOW TO SPOT IF YOU H...

MODS THIS IS NOT A POLL OR IN ANYWAY SHAPE OR FORM A VOTING THREAD IT IS A THREAD TO WARN USERS ABOUT THE PURPLE SCREEN ISSUE AND HOW TO SPOT IT IN THEIR PHONES CLEAR AS DAY , I HAVE BEEN INFORMED FROM THE DIRECTOR OF COMUNICATIONS AT NOKIA VIA TWITTER THAT THIS THREAD IS OK AND THE TEST IMAGE IS FINE TO LOAD UP
The following has been added by vandelay (Nokia administrator) :
Please note that there is normally a slight variation in the purple color level in each display
unit. This is related to the display manufacturer's optical tuning process. However, some Nokia C7 and Nokia N8 users seem to be experiencing a
slightly higher level of purple color tint on their device screens.
Nokia Care's technical experts told me that the easiest way to spot this problem is to just look at the black idle screen of the device - if there is a clear purple color tint on the idle screen, you should have the device inspected at a Nokia Care point. They will repair the device the device under warranty if there is a clear defect in the device.
So seeing some purple on the test image does not necessarily mean that your screen is faulty, but we hope that it helps some people to decide whether they should visit a Nokia Care point.
    (end of vandelay's addition)
as you may or may not have read many n8s and c7s have a purple tint issue
this can easily be spoted by saving the picture below to your pc , transfering it to your n8/c7 , then viewing the image in your gallery
if the image shows purple squares in some areas then iam afraid you have one of the screens that is showing defects in gradiation of colurs and the greyscale
there are also many n8s out in the wild that dont have this problem , i have 3 n8s , my gfriend has one , hers is perfect and shows the test image with no purple tint at all my three n8s all have purple tint and some display it worse then others
the test image can be viewed on any brightness and it should display just as it does on your monitor screen ,my gfriends n8 displays the image perfect under all brightness levels yet my three n8s show the purple tint heavily on low brightness and not as much on full brightness
the test image can also be viewed via tv out and hdmi out and again if you have a defect screen you will see the image perfect on your tv yet on your n8 screen you will have purple tints
here is the test image for you to load to your device and view via the gallery
as stated above if you have one of the screens with defects in colour gradiation you will see some of the squares as purple
this shouldnt be happending as there n8s out there that display the test image perfectly
from all my research on this in the last month and my time studying ICT systems support in which i have a diploma , it seems clear to me that nokia have used at least two screens in the build of the n8
many phones bought between october launch and december dont have the problem yet there are still some that do but not as many as now , phones bought from the end of december up untill current date seem to have the issue moreand its now nearly impossible to find one without the purple tint issue
this leads me to believe that from the start nokia were using at least two screen in the n8 , then one started to run out around december and by the end of december a huge majority of n8/c7 handsets have the troubles, if not all of them shipped after december
infact ive been to every phone shop in lakeside , chelmsford , colchester which included : carphone warehouse , o2 , vodafone , orange , three ,  phones4u , tmobile all n8/c7 handsets i asked to look at had the problem not one n8 i looked at didnt have the issue
i have been in contact with nokia care escalation team , all they did is send me very badly refurbed handsets back for my brand new n8s ,  which across all three handsets had the following faults
    #hdmi covers scratched and worn
#no imei number under the hdmi cover on one of them
#torx screws on battery cover very worn
#plastic top caps not fitted right
#one had a huge gap between the silver screen surround and the main chasis of n8
#they all still had purple tint issue
so nokia sent me three refurbed handsets for my brand new n8s , i obvously complained as they were so new i could have taken them back to the shops with the reciept but now nokia had changed the imei numbers my reciept was useless , i said i should be sent three brand new n8s , they again sent me badly refurbed handsets just as bad as the 1st lot and again all three of them had purple screen issues
i complained again and this time supervsior took over the case and agreed that 3 new n8s should be sent to me as mine was so new , she got them sent out and this time they were new but they still have the purple screen issue
thats a toatal 12 n8s direct from nokia and all of them have had the issue  so i cant recomend going to a nokia care point or nokia care uk as the refurbs i was sent was a complete joke and looked like they were just used handsets that had been through a rough time
through this month of me talking to nokia and sending emails and getting these phones swapped back to a condition of the phones that i sent them , they have said they are investigating it and taking it seriously however after some of their actions towards users (myself included) on these forums it doesnt seem like they are taking it very serious at all , they have known about it for a month now and we still have not had an offical response from nokia themselves

there are many more threads about this issue across the net and if you google n8 screen problems or n8 purple screen problems you will come acroos many many pages of unhappy users from all across the globe
i just hope nokia sort this out soon
ho do you users with the problem feel about this issue and how do you think nokia should resolve it
id be happy for a screen swap at a nsc or via warranty postal repair as long as it could be done quickly and the user wasnt without their phone for too long after all this is nokias mistake and not the users that bought the phone so all fixes should be at minimal disturbance to them
heres hoping when you test the image your not as unlucky as me and many other n8 owners from across the globe , its a brilliant phone but this screen issue lets it down alot especially during watching films and stuff

sorry to hear you guys are having troubles too , its a shame sucha  great device as the nokia n8 has had an issue like this arise , it is effecting alot of n8/c7 handsets and is quite a widespread issue across the globe
it would be great to hear from as many users as possible about this and what they think about it as a user of the c7/n8
    jimmyireland about your post mate
yes it was written by me and yes it ws deleted not once but 3or4 times actually
the mods said it was because i had set up a poll and voting system , so i read through forum rules and posted it again with what fitted their guidelines and even put in big caps that it was not a poll but a thread to help users identify a problem and discuss it which is what the forum is for , it was deleted again , i then posted it again with just the test image and how to spot the problem and again put big caps that the post fitted their guidelines and was just to help users , it was again deleted and i was banned by mods for 2 days saying that i had broke forum rules and posted a poll and that the test image wasnt a proper test image
i then asked other users to post the image but when they tryed nokias spam filter kicked in with a message saying that their post contained spam and that they should write it again and try posting again
to be honest it really looked like they were trying to cover up the issue , fair enough my 1st post could be considered a very very rough poll but the posts i made afterwards were edited to fit nokias guidelines and they still removed them ad banned me and then other users posts were marked as spam
so i tweeted alot of people and even nokia have said that as long as the post doesnt contain polls/votes then it will be fine to postand that mods shouldnt delete it , which was excellent news and hopefull this thread will stay and users can load the image and test their screens and then discuss the issue here so nokia can see users discussion in one thread , it will alo help awareness of the issue
hence this post that isnt a poll but a thread to help users identify wether their n8/c7 has a screen with a defect in the gradiation of colours
as stated in original post not all n8s have this problem my gfriends doesnt and it displays the test image perfectly on all brightness settings , yet my n8s show the image as very purple on low brightness and the brighter the screen goes the less the purple is shown , it is still there just not as visible as it is in the lower brightness settings
as i also mentioned many n8s between october and mid december are fine although some still have the problem , yet from mid december till current date the amount of n8s with purple issue is much much higher and it now seems very very rare that you will get a brand new n8 from the shops without this screen issue which leads me to believe that from launch nokia have used at least two screens in the builds of the n8 , some great screens and then the ones with dodgy purple tint , from the threads across the web it seems like the good screens nokia were using either run out or they have failed to source the same screen or the manufactuer of the screen has changed something
iam not a nokia hater and iam not here to cause trouble or loose nokia sales etc
i love nokia have used them for years and used symbian since the 6680 , iam always helping users across the web with their nokia problems and am an avid user on nokia users please check my profile and feel free to check my posts and how many times ive been thanked for being helpfull
    http://www.nokiausers.net/forum/members/buxz777.html
as you can see i love nokia and spend alot of time using their devices , speaking highly of them and helping their users with problems, i also love good customer services and customer relations
i understand that big companys have build issues iam a gadget lover and trained in ict supprt iam not silly and understand that these things happend and building these phones with such complicated electronics and some could end up with issues , it could happend to anyone , sony , apple , samsung , blackberry , lg etc etc
however its how the companys react to these issues and relate to their customers that have spent 100s of pounds on their devices that is important , issues do arise , its how the company looks after its customers thats important
i think alot of users think the same , they dont expect nokia to click their fingers and go heres a fix but they do expect nokia to investigate the issue and they do expect nokia to relate to its customers and not ignore them or the issue which is what it looks like when posts are deleted and users are banned for posting informative posts that help users identify a problem
things like sending users really bad refurbs for brand new n8s also dont help users confidence in nokia statement of going to nokia care about the problem as all i got was second hand looking n8s that still have the problem they were sent off with and the originals were in much better condition
like i say iam not here to cause trouble and i love nokia the n8 is the best phone ive ever had and its almost my dream device and everything ive wanted on a device for years its the ultimate convergance device and agadget lovers dream , however when you see your gfriends and some of your mates n8 screens display the test image perfect then your n8 display it with a very purple hue it does dissapoint you and you do hope that nokia will take notice and fix the issue with the least amunt of hassle to the users
cheers jimmy and sorry about the long post just wanted to clear some things up
now lets get back to discussing the issue and what other users think about it
    have a great evening

  • Nokia 5800 screen issue!!help!

hey guys,i bought my nokia 5800 somewhere in december last year.and a couple of days ago,i began to realize that there were moving vertical lines across the screen.the lines are most visible when my light sensor(intensity) settings is set at 75%.it only came to my attention when i hard resetted my phone 2 days ago and the intensity settings was reverted to its default 75%(i've kept it customized at 25% until 2 days ago).the moving vertical lines are less visible in darker backgrounds and at a lower light intensity.i was just wondering-is this normal??has anyone been experiencing this?is there a fix to this?
p/s:this issue is different compared to the previous 'slider+screen lines' issue. the moving lines on my screen is constantly present.locking and unlocking the phone bears no effect whatsoever on the lines.
    Thanks!

I think I am having the same issue as yourself, it just started recently and I just bought it in April. As you stated this is not the other common screen issue where after unlocking the phone those bars show up across the screen. These are thin lines that cant be seen from far away, it is only when you look closely that they become obvious (they just keep moving vertically across the screen). I have a pure black theme on and I cannot notice them but when I use a lighter theme or use any application with any other color it becomes very apparent.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?

  • Is 3g video call possible between Iphone4 & Nokia E71?

s 3g video call possible between Iphone4 & Nokia E71? Without internet connection, just through local network provider? If yes, how to set-up? Thanks in advance.

Right. That's old firmware. Have you tried updating it?
    http://europe.nokia.com/softwareupdate
If no update is available then you most likely have a branded phone:
    http://linux.sgms-centre.com/nokiafaq/branded-phones/
If this is the case, pressure your operator for an update.

  • [BUG Nokia E71] Issues installing themes or dictio...

Description: Trying to install themes (certified or not, doesn't matter) and/or official dictionaries on the memory card triggers an error at every phone start-up
    Product: Nokia E71
Version: Any firmware up to v210.21.006
    Reproducible: Yes, always
    Steps to reproduce:
    - Downloads the following certified theme and dictionary:
     http://mosh.nokia.com/common/download/374F626623007DD0E040050AEE0471E2/original/Dots_Blue_240x320.si...
    http://nds1.nokia.com/files/support/global/phones/software/Nokia_Mobile_Dictionary_it.SIS
    - Install one of them (or both) in the memory card. Turn off the phone and turn it on again. The error will trigger immediately, mentioning about problems during installing software from memory card.

@mickh1: please, don't try to suggest any other workaround. I've already tried installing the theme from PC Suite and the bug triggers likewise. This is DEFINITIVELY a bug and Nokia devs should investigate. The themes I've tried are all S603rd compatible and some of them were even tested on Nokia E71: the one I've linked is nokia certified, but you can for example try the Solace theme [1] that is uncertified but comes with special tweaks for Nokia E71. Please note I had a similar problem even installing official nokia dictionaries as I've stated, not only themes.

  • Nokia E71 Firmware Bugs - 210.21.006, 02-03-2009

I've had the phone since it first launch shortly after middle of 2008.  Awesome phone!  No problems from day 1.
Unfortunately, right after i updated the firmware in March 2009 there just seems to be a list of bugs showing up.  Here's my list.  Hopefully someone can help or a new firmware will be released as soon as possible, as some of these problems are rather frustrating and down right disturbing.  And obviously you can't go back to the previous firmware.  Just to be certain, I reinstalled the firmware twice just to make sure it wasn't a 'bodgy first time install' issue.
    1. Home Screen Notifications - Not there
Problem: Apart from Calender Events, every day, the following will 'EVENTUALLY' not show itself:- new message, miss-calls, email 1, email 2, voicemail, miss-call.  They will not show irregardless of the actual events happening.
How do I solve this?: I have to go back into 'enabled applications' and un-tick the above home screen events/notifications and then, re-tick and then click ok.  Only then, will these notifications re-appear.  Not really a SOLUTION as it will happen again within the next 24 hours or less.  This is SOOO annoying as I rely on the Home screen notifications for an update of what is happening.  How does one realize if there was a miss-call or message received if there's no visual notification and the sound is turned off?
    2. Auto-retrieval of Email 1 and Email 2 - Disables itself
Problem: I have emails setup so that they check my email 1, every half hour and email 2, every 1 hour.  I have no actual issues retrieving the emails automatically.  Accesses and downloads nicely using my network.  However, EVENTUALLY 2 to 3 days later, the 'AUTOMATIC RETRIEVAL' disables itself.  Why does it do this?  Never used to.
How do I solve this?:  I have to go back into the respective email accounts and their settings, and re-enable it.  Again, not really a solution as it will disable itself within a few days.
    3. Shortcut Keys on the Home Screen (left and right) - Does not respond.
Problem: Every so often, the left and right shortcut keys won't work.  They are there, but if you click on them nothing happens.  Example. On my phone I have 'new SMS' (left) and 'search' (right). They will work for 1 or 2 days, maximum.  EVENTUALLY, when I click on either of them, nothing will happen.  I can see a very quick 'flash' on the screen as if something is about to happen, but..... NOTHING.  This happens also when I change the shortcut keys to open up different applications.
How do i solve this?:  I have to restart the phone. No other choice. There's no way of going back into the settings and changing the shortcuts to something else and expect the left and right shortcut buttons to function properly.  You have to restart the phone!  Never used to that either.
Having said all that, the previous FIRMWARE DIDN'T DO ALL THIS.  Is anyone else out there experiencing these same problems?  This NEW firmware UPDATE, has turned what used to be an AWESOME phone, into something that is a bit of nuisance.
    Nokia please save the E71!
    My e71 wishlist.
more printer drivers for different brands
fix the purple haze on the pictures
keep group access points as a standard on the e71 as they did in the e61i
AND GET RID OF THESE BUGS!!!!!
    Nokia E71-1 (26)
    210.21.006
    RM-346

Well, I do hope they provide a new firmware soon which will correct many of the current bugs, since I'm sure Nokia are aware that this won't push many to buy THEIR next devices, it will be Blackberry's or HTC, etc.
My E71 came with fw 100.x... and I wish I'd never upgraded to 200.x...
I'd like to think you'd get more out of your device with a fw updgarde but unfortunately you end up with a worse performing phone!

  • Nokia E71 Fading Text On Display

    Hello Nokia Owners,
Hopefully someone has seen this issue and have an easy fix, as I'm frustrated about this oddball occurrence. I'm wondering if there's a QA/QC issue at hand where these are being manufactured?
Within the past 6 days, I've purchased 2 brand new Nokia E71 phones from 2 different Walmart stores, 30 mins of each other.  These are phones for the Straight Talk prepaid service. I have not yet activated the phones on ST, as my goal is to first test the basic functionality to determine if it's worth the $200 and will satisfy my needs.
What's happening on both phones, in the same exact manner and location on the phone, is that the menu title name for some menus have fading text. It appears as though there's a display issue. I've attached some screenshots to make it easy to see what I'm experiencing.
However, when I've tested playing the included videos in the phone at full screen, it appears to play the videos through the menu title name area with no fading. The same goes for looking at images - I do not see any fading with the included images in that area.
I have done a Soft Reset on both phones using the *# option and from the "Factory Reset" option in the menu. This has not resolved it on either phone.  I have also changed themes, changed menu colors, changed the font size, none of which has resolved this.
Thus far, I've returned one phone to Walmart and ready to return the next one now due to this issue. I'm willing to try a 3rd but that's where my limit is. I really like this phone and want it, but if this issue is indicative of a fully dead or fading display after a short period of use, I will not make the investment.
    Any help is most appreciated.

Short answer: I don't know.  Other phones (the E52 and maybe the E5) have issues with the display lighting at odd times as the keyboard lock or phone lock activates (not typically when it deactivates).  So it could be a firmware issue.  But it could have also been a bad phone.

By any chance, have you performed a software update on your E73? That's the only step I have not taken, as it appears I need to activate the phone on service to do any software updates via TracFone.  I can (and have) tested the E71 on my WIFI connection which works great, but I cannot invoke a software update via WIFI.
Mmm, you could try Nokia's Ovi Suite or Software Updater software for Windows.  Instead of downloading a small patch file, you'd be downloading a complete 50 MB+ firmware file instead.  You might see a message that no updates are available, but it would be worth a try.
But something to understand about Nokia phones: they're all different.  You can have two phones with the same OS, released within months of each other (my T-Mobile E73 is very similar to the E72) and have very different issues.  Maybe they each get firmware releases at nearly the same time, and one update fixes a bug while the other includes the bug.  (I'm  exaggerating a little, but you get my point.)  The E71 is a feature pack 1 phone while the E72/E73 are feature pack 2, so while the phones share lots of surface features, their guts are often quite different.  For example, I get the impression that Nokia made substantial changes to the hardware drivers from FP1 to FP2, but not always for the better.  I have done several software updates to my phone, but have never seen the problem you described.  Hopefully it stays that way.

This article provides troubleshooting tips that can help you resolve the issue with your iPhone 4 restarting unexpectedly upon start up.
If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn't respond or doesn't turn on - Apple Support
If your device gets stuck during startup
When starting up, you might see the Apple logo or a red or blue screen for a long time, or your device might restart again. Try these steps:
Make sure that you have iTunes 12 or later on your computer.
Put your device in recovery mode.
When you get the option to restore or update, select Update. This will reinstall iOS without erasing your data.

  • Removing Auto Lock from Nokia E71

I downloaded an application to my Nokia E71 that required using the autolock function. I no longer need the application, and I have done a complete uninstall; however, when I try to remove the lock function by going to Menu > Tools > Settings > General > Security> Phone and SIM card > Phone autolock period and try to change the setting to None, I receive a message "Unable to unlock phone". Does anyone know another way I can try to remove the autolock feature?

My issue was that I tested the installation on my E71 before trying it on the phone that needed the mail setup.
I was not able to remove the auto lock, even after removing the mail information, and uninstalling the MfE.
It was mentioned in the documentation for the mail setup (from my company), that this would occur.
It indicates for me that it is a security feature enabled from server side.  This means that every time you run the setup, you will get the auto lock feature enabled again. I have read earlier, that some phones has the ability to override this feature, N95 i think, and also the iPhone.
Seems like the E71 does not have the possibility to override this feature (as i have found yet).
Still looking for how to override the feature, will let you know when i find it....

  • Lack of My Folder support for Nokia E71, even in n...

With my 6230i PC suite allowed me to see and manage folders and messages under My Folders. Now with my spanking new E71 it doesn't. Not only does it not let me manage them but I cannot even view their contents. This is not even supported with the latest Beta version of Nokia Communication Centre (Version 2.0). This is surely a major step backwards? Some problems
    - Messages on my 6230i under My folders did not restore to the E71 and I have found no way to get them across. The 6230i does not let me move them back to the Inbox.
    - Copy and paste between phones is not possible
    - If you right clicked Inbox in Nokia Communication Centre 1.0 a New folder option appeared. This did not work. The solution in the new version appears to be to remove the option altogether.

    HI,
One option may be, you can copy the 6230i messages to the PC and then paste that in Nokia e71. Hope it may help you
